Thought I'd better start the new thread before it was too late. Here we go!

I need to learn to type more quickly!

Thanks dandy glad I could help.

llare Hope your consultant's appt goes well and that they can shed some more light on your dropping sugar levels.

detsy were you 39 when you conceived your previous lo? because I think they take the age you were at conception, not when you'll give birth and if you were 39 at conception last time then you wouldn't have been classed as 'old' Not very nice really to be 40 and have a label stuck on you for being 'old'. 40 is still young IMO!

Thanks for your kind words all.

I still feel really emotional and tired and have just been informed that I've got to help in the finishing dept today, I've been having really strong BH most of the night (still getting them now) so am shattered so have told one of the girls I'm helping that she'll have to bear with me - if I have to keep stopping and moving around to get comfortable I won't be much help

So exciting and scary about spangle

I need to get organised - so much to do in just over 2 wks I could be having my baby

LoobyLou36 · 01/04/2009 10:13

thanks belgianchoc

I just really really didn't want to be induced.

will start taking raspberry leaf capsules on sun (26wks) and will be trying vindaloo, etc etc anything to try and start it off - DH won't believe his luck Any other tips welcomed.

LoobyLou36 · 01/04/2009 10:13

sorry that should be 36wks

sausagenmash · 01/04/2009 10:24

Morning everyone...

Thanks for all your lovely hugs and comments - Dandy - nearly took you up on your offer last night! We kind of made up, and I went back in our room, but I am exhausted after hardly any sleep again. Dp set the alarm for 5am as he wanted to get into work early to beat the protests (he works in the city) but he switched it off and got up at 6.30. Ggrrrr - so I've been awake properly since 5am. Arguments were about us moving - when, how etc - his house is rented out, and the plan is to move there after baby comes along and rent my shoebox out. He wants to move in as soon as they move out, and decorate as we go along, forgetting the fact that I am asthmatic and allergic to paintfumes, and that the house needs to be fumigated because his tenants have bloody cats. Doesn't bloody THINK that the baby may be a potential wheezer like me, and simply 'shutting a door' to a painted room will keep the 'smell' out. I have suggested giving us a months leeway - get his tenants out, get some decorators in to do the important rooms (seriously, he has orange walls) and then move in when baby is about a month old. He also doesn't THINK that I only get full mat pay for 8 weeks, and I can't afford the mortgage on my flat on half pay...

It goes on and on. Sorry about the confused, mad ramblings..

AAAARRRGGGGH

Sigh. This really is NOT my week.

Wonder how Spangle is? It's all getting a bit too realistic now!!

Tummum - that brought a smile to my face!! Thank you!!

Anyway, back to work. Meeting my manager in 1/2 hr to discuss my mat leave cover. Nothing like leaving it till the last minute... still, I'd give my right arm if I could go off today. V jealous of all you who are already off

Reggiee · 01/04/2009 10:24

Checking up on Spangle....thanks for the update Detsy. V exciting!

looby hope your day is ok today ((hugs))

Belgianchocolates · 01/04/2009 11:33

Looby I've looked up the nice guidelines for diabetes for you if you're interested. I don't know if you'll be able to make much sense to you, but they might be helpful. Especially if they want to separate your baby from you at birth you can wave these at them!Nice guidelines

Anyway, back to what I was researching. You'd think it would be easy to find a recent table with C/S statistics, but no, nothing is as simple as you think.

Hi folks, I'm back from the consultants. I don't have any answers as to why my blood sugar is dropping, but one reason might be that the placenta is not working as efficiently. I have to have a scan in 2 weeks to check growth and if it has fallen below the 50th centile then something will happen (not sure what, she didn't elaborate!) She also said it could just be that the metformin I am taking is working, but I'm not entirely sure why it didn't work before.

The diabetes chap wants me to stay on insulin so I came home and had some ice cream to ensure I don't have a hypo which was very lovely! All in all I feel reassured, and DH is working an early shift this week so I have company in the evenings. Next week will be harder as he is on lates, but my mother is coming on Wednesday to stay for a few days so hopefully she be a help and not a hinderance!

No one seemed particularly bothered about my UTI, but I do feel less worried about being in early labour! I think my diabetes nurse has a tendency to project the worst possible scenario and my consultants are far more sensible.

Chica31 · 01/04/2009 11:39

Hi, Thanks for all your advice. I´m knacked today and really don´t feel like working - However my class of 25 children have different ideas!!!!

I wish I could start cleaning the house looks like a dump!

Chica31 · 01/04/2009 12:14

Llareggub, hope things all work out OK, I´m sure some doctors just like to scare you! Icecream is always the answer to every problem I always think!!

Chica31 · 01/04/2009 12:16

What does DH stand for?

Belgianchocolates · 01/04/2009 12:23

chica dh stands for dear/darling husband. There's a page somewhere that lists all commonly used abreviations. Actually here it is

I tried the babycentre baby namer and asked for an English boy's name suggestion and it came up with Sarandeep

Oh dear Lord, I've just damaged my fajita.

DS2 has been a little sh!t this morning and is now in bed in the bad books so I thought I'd put DD in her room and encourage her gently to go for a nap. No problem, until I put one leg over the baby gate1 to climb out and that leg landed on a truck which moved. My other leg was still at the other side of the gate so I came crashing down on my pubic bone, fell and battered my head off a stack of crates. I hurt, a lot. Just phoned hubby in tears and told him he better get the rest of the week off because I'm refusing to leave my bed.

1 - I have asked and asked and asked hubby to clear the top hall of the junk, pile of dirty washing, toys and crates of crap so that I can move safely between rooms and I'm still waiting. Honestly I love him to death but I don't know if he doesn't care about my safety or just doesn't realise how much danger I am being put in by his and the kids' thoughtlessness. I had to climb over the gate because there was a massive pile of dirty washing blocking me from opening the damn thing so I'm hurt AND furious now.

Belgianchocolates · 01/04/2009 12:57

blotted Big hugs from me. Take it easy for today so your hmm, fajita, can heal a bit. Well done for managing to lift your leg high enough to climb over the gate. I couldn't do that .
I really really think all husbands should wear one of those strap on bumps for a week. Then make them climb over piles of toys, clothes, etc.., make them pick up tiny things from the floor, tie their shoelaces, cut their toenails, lift toddlers... I think men just don't realise how difficult it is to do everyday things with a big bump sticking out in front of you. I think they see you as your normal you and forget about you being pregnant. My dh will tell me to sit down, take it easy, relax because of my SPD, while at the same time complaining that when he comes back from work the house is a mess!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 01/04/2009 13:11

blotted [ouch wince]

get thyself into bed, get a handbell for when you require something and get that man back to look after you

Seriously, are you ok? That sounds excruciating and the last you thing need now is a damaged fanjo.

Fecking fecking men, lots of us do seem to be having problems with them. I buggered off out of the house on Sunday, leaving a note for DH with all the things have been trying to tell him lately. Basically, an almost 'Dear John' letter. He works stupidly long hours, not usually home until after DD2 is in bed, he usually has to work all day saturday. He keeps saying he'll be here for me when the baby arrives but........

I try to bear in mind that it is his own business, he does have to work longer hours but he decided to start up the business to be able to spend more time with us and be more flexible

I hope Spangle's ok...........

Momino · 01/04/2009 13:26

Hi all.
just back from town, meant to do more errands but too tired and may as well rest whilst dd's are at nursery, dog is at inlaws, and i'm babyless.

blotted, big hug to you, hope you're feeling better.

chica, i'm waiting for my 'nesting' to come into action so I can clean the house (didn't get nesting the last 2 pregnancies, though).

looby, I'm with you - don't want to be induced at all. was induced for dd1 but we said ok since it was based on health of baby (had suspected cholestasis). i will do anything to avoid again but agree with Belgian to be open minded.

i'm 39 and 9 months and no one has said anything about my age/dangers of going overdue. I'll be prepared for that.

Am getting really teary, i couldn't read news about spangle without crying. not sure where this is coming from - hormonal? anxious that it's all starting to happen? anyway, hope she's ok and can't wait to hear her happy news.

LoobyLou36 · 01/04/2009 13:31

oh blotted ouch!

Hope your day gets better

Blottedcopybook · 01/04/2009 13:46

Thanks girlies, I'm really very sore and uncomfortable but nothing damaged except my pride I think. I feel bad for bitching about DH because he really is a fab husband and an amazing Dad, he's just a rubbish housewife! I am going to make sure things get organised here though.

llareggub · 01/04/2009 13:46

Oooh, blotted I am in pain just reading your post!

sausagenmash · 01/04/2009 14:18

Llare - not an expert on insulin, but I know metformin can take a good few weeks to start taking any effect.

Blotted - ow!

Had manager chat and did best not to blub. She said that I can start mat leave if and when I want to, just say when, so thats good to know. Still want to see if I can make it to the 24th though...

Dp has apologised. Now got my brother emailing me telling me I'm overreacting. Bloody men.

frazzledoldbag · 01/04/2009 14:33

Keep thinking about spangle - can't wait to hear her news.
blotted sorry to hear about your bruised fajita (excellent terminology BTW)
hi chica sorry I didn't say hi yesterday and welcome
momino I'm with you on the teariness - must be hormonal rushes now and again. Was driving on the motorway yesterday and suddenly realised I was crying - WTF!
Have also got serious nesting fever. Have a painter and joiner coming in the morning to price up some work I want done NOW!
Have just been asked to go away for 3 nights with SIL and her family this weekend for a lovely weekend in a luxury cottage. Bizarrely I am secretly relieved that we have plans already and can't go. I think I'm just getting too tired and can't really be bothered and also last nights shennanigans gave me a bit of a fright I think [panic merchant emoticon]
DD2 is sleeping again now BTW. She was sick until 4am then fell asleep. Has eaten this morn so hopefully will be ok poor little mite.
Best go and check on her. x

llareggub · 01/04/2009 14:45

We should send her a prize for being the first "due in May" person to give birth! Now, did she name her favourite cocktail?

DH is home and we have some vague plans to generally tidy and sort upstairs as DS is away for the afternoon. We are both feeling really lazy so I have already suggested a cup of tea to avoid the work!

Belgianchocolates · 01/04/2009 14:49

llare that's funny. I've just suggested that on the f/b page. Is this a case of great minds think alike [grin}

After all that talk about ice cream today, succumbed and had Ben and Jerry's after lunch today. Yum.

Anyway. Time to pick up the dcs from school. [gosh is that the time already, panicky emoticon]

Quick check in as in office and being the consummate (sp??) professional. No more news from Spangle as yet - they gave her 48 hours to go into labour and think the plan was to "let her out" today up to that period, prior to induction but we'll see I guess. I'll drop her a text in a bit to see how she is!

Frazz glad lo is feeling better - its horrid when they are puking as they get so scared and there is sod all you can do to help really - poor little sausage. I know there is a 24hour bug flying about so no doubt you will all have it soon - sorry to be prophet of doom

Am a bit worried to be in South east, at least 3 hours from home with all the stuff going on as it could be any of us next I guess!!

Belgian - yes was 39 when conceived Lotti - that's a really silly cut off point - so one year you are ok and the next you are geriatric (mind you do feel pretty geriatric some days... ) Oh well, I am where I am can't turn the clock back and know that Lotti was born very healthy so not particularly worried (just niggled)

daizydoo · 01/04/2009 14:54

My goodness me its all happening here! Hope alls going well with Spangle and hope everyone else is getting better etc. Theres just so many to name!

I am absolutely shattered and the house looks like a tip! I was started on iron tablets yesterday by the mw so am hoping once they kick in I will miraculously get some energy I am struggling to sleep at nights which is a pain; only 17 more mornings at work

Well I really must go and wash the dishes...
