It's a lovely colour but I guess may seem a bit intense especially if it's replacing a standard magnoloia or something or the room is quite small.
Maybe if it is quite small, leave one or two walls without to get the contrast and sometimes that can make the room look bigger IYKWIM?

KinderEggKayzr · 06/04/2009 15:39

It is replacing magnolia. I hate magnolia[bleugh]. I think the problem is that it is so bright and almost the same colour as MIL's bathroom.

Diege · 06/04/2009 15:41

Hi SES!Hope your dog recovers soon - not fun for either of you I'm sure!
Re: home birth, I may be wrong, but don't think they can legally stop you from having a hb, even if 'high risk' (in fact I think most of us would be 'high risk' from their criteria - I am, on the basis of wanting to have a chat with the consultant, hence assigned one and now don't know if I can transfer back to midwife care ). I'm sure if you could find a supportive midwife you'd be fine for next time (or even this one!). Have we a sundicate for you yet SES?? I'm liking the ring of May 20th acutally . MIM we need one for you too - dates/weights of previous dds for research purposes please!

sorkycakey · 06/04/2009 15:41

I'm a bit OTT about it too.

Diege, I've never known it be shortened to Gay, just Gabe.

On the other hand a friend of ours wasn't allowed Tristan by her Dh because apparently that was like calling him Lance/Troy, you were literally willing him to be homosexual , according to him. I personally rather like Tristan
Men, they're all neanderthal when it comes down to it aren't they?

Kayz has it dried yet? Colours can look a bit dodgy if they aren't completely dry.

Diege · 06/04/2009 15:43

LOve that colour KAYZ! Agree with SES now having seen it - it's probably just the contrast with magnolia that's scaring you, esp if tester pot looked great! Keep on with it!!

sorkycakey · 06/04/2009 15:44

Hmm I think that colour might be a one-wall-colour for me Kayz...but there again my house is entirely white 'cept for kids' rooms, so not best placed to comment.

KinderEggKayzr · 06/04/2009 15:44

It hasn't dried yet Sorky. I am hoping once it is dry it will be nice.

I love Tristan. Shame I won't be able to use it. Next DC will be a girl(positive thinking and all that)

Diege · 06/04/2009 15:46

Hi SORKY!! Think the gay thing was LBOX's dh - yes, the gabrial I know is also Gabe . ON the subject of home birth, do you get to meet the midwife(s) (is it 2?) who will be there on the day beforehand?

KinderEggKayzr · 06/04/2009 15:48

Diege, 1 of my midwifes was my normal MW so I had known her for ages!! The other one I met that day.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 06/04/2009 15:50

Kay - I'm with you on magnolia, however practical it is.

Diege - noooo before 20th May please!!! Lucy (the dog!) is sleeping it off inside now. Bless her, she kept retching but didn't want to be sick inside the house and so kept swallowing it back. She was outside for a while earlier and went round the garden being sick in various places. All seems to be just mucousy saliva.(Sorry that's not a particularly pleasant topic of conversation!) Re: HB, I'm fine really about this one not being a HB as it's how I've been thinking for the last 7 months or so but definitely would consider it in future.

Sorky - I never realised names could be such a controversial topic until I joined MN! I think it's funny how everyone has their preconceived ideas but at the same time, let them as otherwise we'd all end up with children with the same names!

I had the cotbed delivered earlier! It's still in boxes though waiting for DH to unpack it

Also had an architect round to draw up plans for our extension. We're still not sure when we can afford to get it done but if we submit plans for planning permission, we have 3 yrs from then in which to start the work.

lastboxoftampons · 06/04/2009 15:53

Gabriel was me! We wouldn't ever call him Gay, it's just that DH thinks kids would just because the name starts with that sound. Someone had once started a Tristan thread on baby names and someone else said it was an estate agents name! And it still hasn't put me off.

Kay LOL at your DC3 being a girl! OR ELSE! I like the color and agree with the others that you should give it a chance - you might feel differently once it's all on. Plus, I find that wall colors tend to change a lot depending on the light.

thanks for the constipation cure suggestions, Diege and Ses, I'll give it a try. In the meantime, I'm not feeling very well today I havne't been able to eat my lunch yet and it's nearly 4

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 06/04/2009 15:57

LBOT - sorry you're not feeling good. Try and drink as much water as you can...

Diege · 06/04/2009 16:01

LBOX, just thinking (as you do), could the bleeding be piles?? I am a piles expert, and admit to being a bit obsessed by them!
Oh and have a confession - have just bought my 7th pair of maternity jeans . That really is it now...

Moosy · 06/04/2009 16:18

Diege! I don't think I've ever owned more than 2 pairs at once, I don't even have 7 pairs of non-maternity trousers!

Speaking of mat clothes, if anyone has any size 8 things that are surplus to requirements I'll happily buy them from you, I can never find any in any shops and I trust the wagoners' sense of style!

KinderEggKayzr · 06/04/2009 16:19

Just checked the paint and I still don't like it. I do have some normal white paint that I could go over it with.

sorkycakey · 06/04/2009 16:34

Ooh I've got size 8's if you want them Moos. Will email you.

Sorry I got mixed up about the names. Ses totally agree, just pick a name you both like and don't tell anyone until the baby arrives. People seem to find it a lot harder to be rude when looking a the actual child ime

Sorry for sore bots!

Diege · 06/04/2009 16:37

If you're sure KAYZ, but maybe wait at least until overnight? I once dismissed an orange paint I'd used in a study, all ready to paint over, but loved it come the morning!
MOOS: My maternity things are size 8, although obviously will need to wait til June to sell.Have loads of thing - may save IO stuff for E-bay where people pay silly prices for the brand, but lots of other stuff too (funmum, ASOS, Red Herring). Just letting you know - I have a very good selection of jeans too , bootleg, skinnies, boyfriend, from seraphine to topshop to funmum...although all bottoms are petite length that might not suit (ie. 30in inside leg)

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 06/04/2009 16:39

Size 8???!!
Hmm... I'm hoping to be able to get back into my size 14 stuff... All my maternity clothes are size 14 except one pair of size 16 trousers...

Oh well, just like baby names I guess, it would be boring if we were all the same

Moosy · 06/04/2009 16:41

Oooh goody! Petites might be a bit short, depends if they sit above or below bump I think, I get on best with under-bump hipster types.

All tops would def be appreciated though! Hopefully I can hold out for a while before I have to use mat stuff although I do feel bigger tummy-ed already - I think my muscles are giving up in "sod it, I'm not doing this again" sort of way!

KinderEggKayzr · 06/04/2009 16:42

I am annoyed. Bloody HV rang to ask if I started weaning DS2 yet. He is only just coming up to 4 months old.

sorkycakey · 06/04/2009 16:44

I think mine are all regular leg length. I'm 5'3 will they be okay? I thought you'd be 5'9 Moos I have no idea why.

Moosy · 06/04/2009 16:47

Believe me Ses, being a pg size 8 is no good thing! Nothing fits! I went to Debenhams when I was first pg with DD1 and asked where I could find small mat clothes as nothing fits, the lady looked me up and down (down her nose) and said "Well you are very tiny!" I'm not that small!!! If I'd been a size 24 would she have said "Well you are very fat?

Can you see why I don't want to go clothes shopping?

Moosy · 06/04/2009 16:48

Ha! I'm 5.4"!

KinderEggKayzr · 06/04/2009 16:50

I'm 5.8" and really struggled finding nice maternity trousers that were long enough.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 06/04/2009 16:55

To be fair, I do think that people who are genuinely of a small build do get a rought time of it and I've been quite lucky in getting stuff to fit. I'm about 5'6" so fine with lengths too.

Kay - I've yet to come across the delight (?!) of the HV! Seems a bit odd to me that she should be phoning you like that!
