oooh no!!! poor DH - still he has done fantastically to be ready so soon!! When can he have the next one?

Purple ((hugs)) galaxy will help! Why is DS grumpy?

SpringySunshine · 13/03/2009 13:18

Only just got here, but for DH, Nutty. Poor man. I hope he doesn't take it too much to heart, bless him. It just means that he'll be super-fantastic when he does pass because he'll have extra practice.

BB, sorry to see you're still here - I had a really vivid dream last night that you had your baby (a girl, apparently ) & I was hoping that it was some sort of psychic vision

purplemonkeydishwasher · 13/03/2009 13:24

oh nutty -

BB - DS is grumpy because he is DS. i think he's tired. DH has been working late and as a result DS has been going to bed a bit later. it's amazing the diffrence an hour makes.

so far i've had a quarter of the galaxy bar and a packet of crisps. think i'll go sit on the sofa and watch Gilmore Girls and eat junk. DS wants to play on the Playhouse Disney website anyway. ...i am getting kicked off the PC by a 3 year old.

oh! i found a great nursing link on youtube from an american kids tv show here it's very very sweet!

SpringySunshine · 13/03/2009 13:44

I JUST FELT LO'S HEAD! I'm really excited! Where's mathsmummy, damn it? She'll be so proud

& surely this means that my cervix is doing the right things, no? Oh, it was so exciting! Yay! Now I want to spend the day with my finger up my fanjo, but have things to do DH isn't even here at the moment - I want to tell him that I just prodded our baby's head! Yay! 36 weeks tomorrow - I still have 6 weeks to get this cervix ready. It's going to happen! I'm more determined than ever, now!

AuldAlliance · 13/03/2009 13:46

Hi everyone,
Sorry to hear about your DH, Nutty, hopefully he'll get it easily next time.

Bleu, I still have no leakage and am expecting none until the birth, as happened last time.

Boffin, I am very of your bath; I must get one of those, as we only have a shower and I can't see myself kneeling to bathe the baby or lifting a bath full of water on to the kitchen table (which is what we did for DS, but that was in the days when DH was actually around at bathtime).

After a grim day yesterday, when I went to the campus (patrolled by private security guards, paid for by the University which has no funds to do so ) and talked to my very disheartened colleagues (6 wks of strike and a gvmt which is postponing reforms rather than rethinking them using a brain) and a bad night spent fretting about DH's and our future, I decided to make the most of the nice things in life...

Admired my terrace covered in daffodils and crocuses (croci??)
Approved of weather forecast predicting 20° for the weekend
Went to market and bought loads of fresh local veg
Met people I know/recognise and reminded myself that moving is tough but you do end up rebuilding a network
Bought fresh pasta and parmesan (arrives on night train from Milan, manufacturer's cousin drives it from Gap to here and sells it with a smile)
Bought a huge bunch of arum lilies from an old man selling them at 20% of florists' price
Have now got gorgeous flowers around house, clean windows letting in sunlight, washed curtains drying on line
Had fresh pasta and newly made tomato sauce for lunch with DS, soup ready for supper
Ignored phone ringing every ten minutes as know it is estate agents wanting to organise last-minute showings and the answer is NON
Am now translating a load of waffle into English waffle (This human condition of the sciences, seen here in a ?time of crisis,? requires a confrontation between the modes used to explore these critical states ? in sciences and equally in the arts." ???.)
Will head off soon to parcel relay and pick up changing table

Sounds very me, me, me, but I am feeling very determined to look on the bright side and wanted to send positive, cheery vibes to everyone. Hope you have a good Friday!!

AuldAlliance · 13/03/2009 13:48

Springy: if you're 36 weeks tomorrow, how does that leave you with 6 weeks to get your cervix ready?

Bleuravin · 13/03/2009 13:52

Kaz, that was great story. It was very reassuring about the 'medical' bits. Thanks. You've made me smile and feel quite happy about having a baby myself no matter what comes.

SpringySunshine · 13/03/2009 13:53

They tend to leave you to it past your due date, but like inducing you at 42 weeks (2 weeks late). It was really looking like even with a pharmaceutical induction that I'd end up with a CS because my cervix is genetically crap & wasn't looking like it'd dilate efficiently, but I've been railing against it & hopefully cracked the problem.

Swaliswan · 13/03/2009 13:56

Springy, I have been thinking about your cervix

Anyway, you obviously aren't dilating through contractions so RLT is probably not much use to help your cervix. However, have you heard about using Evening Primrose Oil to help prepare your cervix for labour? As far as I can tell it is safe to use from 37 weeks both orally or directly applied to your cervix. I don't think that it should have too much effect, if any, on your contractions from what I have found on google. You may want to consider splitting a capsule to get the oil out for use on your cervix if you would be a bit about an EPO capsule being found up your fanjo when you are giving birth!

BabyBolat · 13/03/2009 13:59

yay springy and does sound good - although I can only feel LO head sporadically - occasionally he or she goes back up to hide!!!

Lets hope it doesn't take 42 weeks now and you can have a VB!

Auld that is a great perspective! Very pleased for you!

I am SOOOOOO bored today - have finished all my work, DH is at work, can't technically go out as I am at work even though I have done everything and it is raining. The house is pretty tidy just needs a bit of a hoover (there is no point me doing that until DH comes home and drags all his work crap with him!)

I really want one of those baths! where is the cheapest place to buy one?

BoffinMum · 13/03/2009 14:00

Great birth saga, Kazkiss!
It's times like that the NHS really comes into its own, methinks. I am so glad you are all safe and sound.

Off to DS2's class assembly later. Apparently he is an Egyptian in it. I know this because he took a pair of sandals and a t-shirt to school.

SpringySunshine · 13/03/2009 14:01

Swaliswan, I may have been doing a bit of cervix-preparing bootcamp of my own I didn't want to mention anything in case anyone told me off, but yes, I've heard about EPO Thanks for the thought, though - lovely of you

SpringySunshine · 13/03/2009 14:03

BB, mine spends most of his time floating around, but as he was engaged as I was trying to go to the toilet, I thought I'd have a quick feel & I found him He didn't like it very much, though - my ribs are bruised now, I'm sure!

Auld, I'm so of your French lifestyle. Your posts usually make me want to move

Bleuravin · 13/03/2009 14:05

Auld, way to hav a possitive vibe day. It is the little thngs which we need to clutch to and expand upon to make ourselves happy I believe. I've got a beautiful sense of sunshine and flowers which is only helping the post baby story high I have. (Thankyou most kindly)

OddEyes · 13/03/2009 14:09

erm...feel really odd!

BoffinMum · 13/03/2009 14:09

Waaaasssssup, OddEyes. Not labour is it?

OddEyes · 13/03/2009 14:10

OddEyes · 13/03/2009 14:11

OddEyes · 13/03/2009 14:11

BabyBolat · 13/03/2009 14:12

oooh Oddeyes this could be it - are you timing your contractions?

OddEyes · 13/03/2009 14:12

have called dh and have coaxed ds into bed with bob the builder on iplayer and chocolate.

Bleuravin · 13/03/2009 14:13

oh Oddeyes!

SpringySunshine · 13/03/2009 14:14

AS IF I'M ABOUT TO HAVE TO GO OUT & MISS THE EXCITEMENT.

I never go anywhere, ever. & the one day I do... Oooooh, OddEyes, how exciting! Yay! I'm very hopeful for you! I hope BB doesn't hurt you

OddEyes · 13/03/2009 14:15

tried but ds kept distracting me - am trying to now in bed.
not like last time if it is but then can't really remember it all to clearly, didn't really have the slow gradual build up thing with ds.
not really ready yet...
