Awww rubysmom she's so cute! I'm so impressed with your bump, it's bigger and neater than mine I'll get DH to do a photo sometime.

Lazzer - I'm also due mid May - 15th at QC so thought I'd say hello! Got my 22 week scan next week and plan to ask about labour ward versus birthing centre... what are you going for?

Feeling quite a bit of movement which is fab, though am not that big yet, but am clearly preggers. Though also have mates with babies - who are fine - who didn't feel a thing at this stage (I'm 21 weeks) so it seems to vary a lot.

Re mat leave - decided that I could work till 38 weeks but doing less hours after 36 weeks and then return after a year and work up the days gradually... Paternity leave, I'm thinking 1 week as its unpaid or as good as and then 2 weeks A/L. Um.. then I'm hoping for a miracle - or at least my sister to come...!

Been looking at the cost of childcare. I was quoted - wait for it! - £150 a day for one nursery - and it had a 6 month waiting list!!!!! Couldn't believe it. If anyone's thinking of a new, family friendly job then could this be it?!.....

Sorry for long post..

nauseous · 05/01/2009 22:58

Ruby is gorgeous! Hope I get me a gorgeous one. V impressed with the size of your bump!

pulapula · 05/01/2009 23:02

nauseous - £150 A DAY! WHAT! i thought my nursery was a bit pricey at around £37 a day.

Let me know if the facebook link doesn't work- don't know if i have to give u special permissions or something...

llareggub · 05/01/2009 23:12

£150!!!! What, do they give you gold plated nappies or something?

pulapula, I can't see your facebook photos, but are you all sure about "outing" yourselves on t'interweb?

Rubysmom08 · 06/01/2009 09:32

thanks for comments on Rubes! Made me feel all proud!

She is fab so funy can be slightly hard work at this age though!

Quite pleased with my bump, I am very big but was with Ruby too!

I have made some lovely freinds from my antenatal/postnatal thread and have kept in touch mainly through facebook as the threads can get a bit manic when you have a newborn to look after takes about a week to catch up!
Anyway going to try and get little one to have a nap as I am shattered already and its only 9.30am.. couldn't sleep because I was too cold last night no matter how hot the house was and how many layers I had one I was frozen!

Also Pulapula your photos are lovely you don't look old enough for 3 kids!

Anyway lastly anyone else having very leaky bobs? I breastfed Ruby up until 5 months ago so all my milk dried up but when she cried yesterday I am ashamed to say I leaked loads and also when I woke up this morning I had tell tale marks on my top!

Lazzer · 06/01/2009 10:04

Hi Naseous might see you at QC in May!

I'm planning to have an epidural (as I have the lowest pain threshold ever) despite the birthing centre being so lovely and probably a far better cosy environment to give birth in. My sister has had her 2 LO's at QC and found they were very pro the birth centre. I just know I'll need the maximum pain relief to get through it! Am terrified of labour

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 06/01/2009 10:14

Great to sneak a pic at your piccies ladies! I have a few on my MN profile but as this is my 1st dc, no cute children (yet!)

I'm getting bad pains in my legs. I know this can happen in pregnancy and you'll probably all tell me it's normal and you've been getting them for months! Most nights I wake up with cramp in both calves and the rest of the time my legs ache from just above the knee down. Wore some flight socks to work yesterday to see if that would help. Certainly difn't get any worse... I know bananas can help too so ate one before bed last night and slept with my feet on a pillow! Only woke up once last night with mild cramp in one leg so I think I may persevere with my self treatments unless anyone else has got any other ideas!

Is anyone else getting fed up with all the slimming ads? I look at them and think all that's going to happen to me is that I'm going to get bigger. I know it's for a v good and worthwhile reason though. I just wish the rest of the world wasn't obsessed with being slim at the moment!

1stMrsF · 06/01/2009 11:08

Ses do you drink milk? My friend had terrible night cramps and fixed it by drinking milk. I've not had any problems at all but I'm drinking at least a pint a day as when I had morning sickness it was all I could face to drink and now I'm still drinking loads.

FiKelly · 06/01/2009 11:16

Happy new year everyone and a big hello to our new ones waves madly

Finishing my anti-biotics today for the last (and hopefully final) bout of christmas/new year germ fest. Feeling like i've been run over by a bus but at least the cough has almost gone and i'm not vomiting up phlem anymore (sorry if tmi)

Re maternity/paternity... I don't qualify for a bean when it comes to maternity... as I have been my mums designated carer since before having DS1 and DH earns just above the threshhold for anything else! It was the same with DS so nothing new... DH took 6wks off last time with DS (combo of paternity 2wks & annual leave & a week of flexi he worked up) as it turned out it was essential as I was really unwell post DS. Although we're not expecting the same probs this time round he's still going for at least 6wks off just in case... Hopefully we'll all be well and able to just enjoy our new addition to the family

With being so poorly since the beg of dec I think I've actually lost weight... according to my scales yesterday i've only put on 4.5lbs so far (i'm about 21wks along now i think)... I was about 10lbs over weight to start with so i expect the baby has just raided my excess flab stores!

I haven't taken any pics of my bump yet... and love bump pics that have been posted. Will have to take some of mine and pop them up! DS is still going through his 2nd lot of germs... running a slight temp (now under 100) and has an amazing copious amount of exorcist style snot coming out of his nose at the moment! Another week inside for us I think and hope to be fit and strong enough to get back to normal activities next week

Thanks 1stMrsF - I'm not having a lot of milk so will try and give that one a go! Maybe a glass with my evening meal each day would be a start...!

Right! Promised to go and do a store visit in Eastbourne this afternoon. It'll take me over an hour to get there so I'd better get going!

SweetBROODY · 06/01/2009 11:33

MrsF Thats me too - Loads of milk and not much else...

Kelly I'm glad your feeling better now!

FiKelly · 06/01/2009 11:49

So am I it's been a long hard slog! i'm now back on my milk fad too

SweetBROODY · 06/01/2009 11:54

I wonder if that has anything to do with the sex of baby!!

All this Milk drinking - You know I think its all stories its just 50/50!

FiKelly · 06/01/2009 12:01

we're having a girl according to 20wk scan... my cravings are definitely different this time. With DS I was mad on tomatoes & chocolate. This time it's dairy, apples and stodgy stuff...

OP posts:
Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 06/01/2009 12:11

Hmm... I've craved tomatoes and dairy! Who knows eh? Glad this one is a suprise but it is fun guessing!

SweetBROODY · 06/01/2009 12:13

FiKelly was it clear to see in your scan? Mines on Friday.. not sure wether we should find out or not! I think I really want to know!

Congrats on your little girl!

Lazzer · 06/01/2009 12:24

I really want to know the sex as well (scan tomorrow morning) but partner doesn't. Grr! We've been discussing this for years before we were even thinking about TTC, and even now still can't come up with a joint decision on the matter. I think I will have to wait though, as it's not really fair to find out if the other half doesn't want to...

our scan was excellent the sonographer said she couldn't be absolutely sure... but they always say that. She couldn't find a you know what though and said she'd looked from various angles... and what she was seeing was consistent with a girl...

hi all.
£150/day sounds so steep on childcare . Ours is £37 a day which is a lot for us x 2 children, though dd1 has just turned 3 so getting help with govt grant for 3year olds.

i feel so thick: after posting about my jeans falling, i've only just discovered that this pair have the buttons/elastic adjustments on the waistband so have tightened a bit and they're magically staying in place! One would never think this is my 3rd pregnancy with all my ignorance on maternity clothes, baby movement, etc. or just blame on pregnancy brain i guess.

Hope all weel today. by the way, pula and rubysmum, love your pics! need to post some new ones of my little ones and bump soon.
