thank you x they are being nice yes, they even mentioned turning the back room into a nursery. I think a couple of them might be a bit broody and excited about it It is a special place in all truth, a woman's only housing cooperative. It used to be lesbian only until about 8 years ago. It has a fascinating history. I'm not sure whether it'll be practical and appropriate to stay, but it's nice that they were open minded and lovely, and weren't angry and horrified. i told dp about the nursery comment this morning and i think he is a bit frightened that his woman and baby might get stolen by the lesbians

i really like that riffle wrap dress! If they did it red them i'd buy it immediately! I love that flamenco style. I want to look pregnant now after sucking my tummy in for so long.

Such a relief and in perfect time for Christmas festivities!

SantasNuttySTaff · 03/12/2008 12:27

SantasNuttySTaff · 03/12/2008 12:37

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 13:10

Afternoon all - finally came up with a nickname for Christmas. And got DD down for her nap.

Hurrah!

Must have a look at that baby bottom thread. I pray that hare is a typo? Hair?

How's BoffinMum today? Awfully quiet.

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 13:30

Frekkles I think a women's only housing co-operative sounds like a really warm and nurturing place to have a small baby. Glad all going a bit better for you.

Although if you have a son it will start to seem like a John Irving novel, where invariably little boys futures are shaped by growing up in strong female dominated environments (e.g. World According to Garp, Cider House Rules, Until I find You).

On the red dress front - if you can't find one that is a specifically for maternity have a look at wrap dresses in all the high street stores - go for next size up to allow enough fabric for bump. I have 3 wrap dresses which are great over a bump and also work well for breastfeeding afterwards.

OddEyes · 03/12/2008 13:40

yay for frekkles - well done - glad a positive reaction.

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 14:00

How are you doing OddEyes? What are they giving you to make you better?

A few people I know have had pneumonia this year. Seems strange in otherwise healthy adults. Must be a relief to have got a diagnosis at last though.

SantasNuttySTaff · 03/12/2008 14:45

hope springy didnt get a telling off bout the rabbit

BabyBolat · 03/12/2008 14:54

I think Springy is probably otherwise engaged with her man and her parcel!

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 14:55

I'm here. Been lurking around the adult fiction threads and doing my Christmas shopping online while DD sleeps. Doing both at once works out slightly expensive. I may have accidentally included some books for myself on my Amazon order. Ooops.

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 14:56

Ha ha ha - clearly I was shopping on the wrong websites. Perhaps I should have logged on to LoveHoney....

SantasNuttySTaff · 03/12/2008 15:04

bb -I think Springy is probably otherwise engaged with her man and her parcel! indeed lol

LuLu - and why not, gotta do a bit of cribo shooping for yourself now and again just wrap them up mark the tag from santa and place under the tree nobody will ever know

AuldAlliance · 03/12/2008 15:09

Oh, Frekkles, that's good news. You're over the worst hurdles now, and can focus on finding a red dress for the festive season. I ordered the Isabella Oliver wrap dress in red during a moment of elated extravagance after getting the all clear from the amnio, and am dying to have an excuse to wear it.

I have my 22 week scan on Friday. The w**ker who did my 12 week one omitted all the key details, like femur measurements, so am hoping to be reassured that am not carrying a stunted baby. My LO is also very active; it's odd conducting a tutorial about the finer points of 18th century translations while being constantly reminded that there's an extra person listening in and thrashing around, probably sniggering at my discomfiture when faced with students' unexpected questions.

I have put on lots of weight, more than with DS1. I can't work out weights in pounds any more, so can't reveal the extent of the horror . But it's mostly due to comfort eating; every time I get a new update on the reforms looming over my job, I reach for the chocolate.

BoffinMum, I hope you're feeling better. I'm not in your field at all and not even in the same country, but I think that youyou should be able to catch up with your research after the baby is born.
A break might be a good thing, allow you to view things from a distance before getting back in there.

I am so of all these people having baths; we only have a shower and I fantasise about being able to have a bath...

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 15:09

We are having a v. credit crunch Christmas - one present each. If there is a little stack for me twill be noticeable !

Perhaps I will tell DH that Mr Christmas gave me the extra presents for being such an extra specially good girl this year !

AuldAlliance · 03/12/2008 15:10

youyou?
how did that happen?

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 15:13

AuldAlliance - don't take too much stock of the scan lenths.

With DD I was basically told I might b e carrying a 'stunted baby'. Had to be scanned every couple of weeks through my first pregnancy as all the measurements kept coming up small(even though different sonographers saw me each time etc etc). It appeared that she had exceptionally short legs and a squished flat head.

She was 9.1 when born and perfectly proportioned.

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 15:14

doh - can't type

AuldAlliance · 03/12/2008 15:16

Thanks LuLu; I'm not that fussed, but the last doctor I saw flipped when he looked at the 12wk scan and said, "This is outrageous, how can we tell if you're carrying a dwarf or not?". Am now mildly curious to see what the measurements say.
DS1 was predicted to be huge and wasn't really, so I know the measurements aren't all that reliable.

SantasNuttySTaff · 03/12/2008 15:21

AuldAlliance - Lol at your doctor what a random thing to say

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 15:28

That is hilarious AuldAlliance! Presume this is a French doctor?

LuLuBaihasbeenagoodgirl · 03/12/2008 15:31

When I was pg with DD I went for a check up and the doc, after much prodding and poking of my bump said "I can't tell which way the baby is lying because you are a bit fat, so we'll just put transverse".

???

(OK I had put on a few pounds but not that much, and if she couldn't tell surely she didn't have to put transverse."
