hatty do you know what position your bub is in? My midwife (mum) said contractions with a posterior baby can result in back ache. Is it possible you could be having contractions?

katie3677 · 26/11/2008 13:54

Bisou I might take you up on the Uggs offer, I had real trouble getting hold of a pair last year and ended up with Emu's instead. I have loads of friends in Aus who I was going to ask to get me some, but as they are all blokes, thought it probably wasn't a great idea, and perhaps a bit of a big ask.
Can't remember who was asking about Braxton Hicks (sorry) but the best way of describing them is a real tightening of your tummy. Usually there is no pain accompanying the tightening, just a bit uncomfortable, but lately mine have been more and more painful. I think the best way to tell whether it is the real thing is if they get progressively more painful and have a regular pattern, HTH

Bisou · 26/11/2008 13:55

oooh just found this link too about signs of pregnancy - check out number 5 hatty !!

lal07 · 26/11/2008 13:59

Congratulations Lady T - fab name. Think it's really hard to find a girl's name that's sufficiently pretty but also sounds like she can mean business if she wants. And Octavia is perfect.

Also Amy - gosh well done you for only having gas and air for the last hour - I'd be taking it now if it were possible (I heart gas and air). Congratulations. LOL that you say you're broody again. About 2 minutes after I'd had DS, DH was so happy he said to me "it's amazing - you can see why people have loads of babies can't you". Funnily enough at the time (lying on bed,/waiting to be stitched/absolutely knackered) I didn't agree....

Veggie very impressed by the space helmet...and chutney thanks for posting Lady T's news. Am of friends that give away Toast dressing gowns....

Arti am so sorry about your i-laws being thoughtless. Am absolutely convinced mine will descend on us without invitation again. It must be so hard if you don't have your parents around.

GettingBiggerBird · 26/11/2008 14:01

Hatty wow to going so far, that's amazing. And I think BHs can be painful for some women, I've never had them myself though.

Bisou thanks for the link - though I can't be bothered to log in to watch it so will save that for later!

On the topic of ILs, mine are totally absent and disinterested, maybe a blessing in disguise?

Bisou · 26/11/2008 14:02

I've emailed you Katie. Looks like I'll be on the look out for UGGs here then!

hiccymapops · 26/11/2008 14:15

Congratulations LadyT and Amy Gorgeous names too Hope everyone's doing well xxx

GettingBiggerBird Sorry to hear about your food poisoning, i can't imagine how bad that must have been on top of twin pregnancy symptoms.

Kayz did you get your ring off? I started struggling with mine weeks ago, so left it off just in case. My fingers don't even look swollen this time either, when i was expecting Ben i was swollen all over (very hot summer of 2006 though)

Has anyone else got ridiculously bad footache? Mine start throbbing in bed during the night and actually keep me awake. Which seems very strange when i'm lying down, On top of the stupid heartburn, i'm getting no sleep!

Beans33 · 26/11/2008 15:18

amy - that was a quiet whisper about the arrival of Robbie - well done! How exciting!

I'm so keen for mine to arrive now. Jealous of everyone who are having theirs now!!!

xxxx

Veggiemummy · 26/11/2008 16:14

hello all i have finally properly caught up, hooray for Amy, and hi there GBB we've missed you. That food poisoning sounds nasty, did you eat something dodgy at a restaurant.

Hey Bisou, i used to have uggs when i was a kid but find it really weird seeing people wear them around here i lived near the blue mountains and my nana lived in Seven Hills so saw a lot of Westies wearing them, teamed with their black shirts and flannies. That had an adverse reaction for me so can't wear them in public. they were more like slippers for us.

Just been to Ikea, DH and i did a flying visit we only had 3 hrs while DS was at nursery to drive there grab the things we needed and get back to pick him up. We still managed to spend a lot more than we meant to but got all the things we wanted plus some extra cushions for the birth for me. Also got the cutest panda toy for DS he loves it and keeps cuddling it.

did i dream the email from Pixstix about her baby still being in hospital??? i'm sure i got it last night. hope she is ok.

Veggiemummy · 26/11/2008 16:18

oh and beans i have the coughing too and have had it for several weeks now, i think some of it is irritation from the indigestion.

don't be too impressed with the space helmet, i actually cheated and added water to the glue that DS has in his craft box to do the pasting for the papiermache and then just stuck the strips to a balloon. One day when i am not preggars i will cook some glue and make one out of the mulched up paper. I'm hoping it is dry for tomorrow as DS is desperate to paint it. It is also very thin so hopefully it will last the distance.

my feet are sore after rushing around Ikea.

traceface · 26/11/2008 16:29

hey well done Amy! Hattie - have also got the period pain/ back pain/ no regular pattern thing going on - been since Monday really but not really changing. Strange. My friend said she felt like that a few days before her bub was born...but I don't want to get my hopes up!
Went to town on the Park + Ride today, hoping for a repeat of the luscious fume smells I got last time, but ended up squished next to a large old lady with overwhelming old lady perfume, which had the opposite effect on my smell-buds! Have lately been pulling in behind lorries on the A64, just so I can suck some of their fumes in through the air vents! mmmmmm!
I have been naughty. Couldn't resist popping into the bakers and couldn't decide between a chocolate cornflake bun and a gingerbread man, so got them both!!!! No wonder my bump is suddenly growing in many directions!

Veggiemummy · 26/11/2008 16:37

Trace-i got a triple choc muffin from Ikea cafe it had choc cake bits, choc drops and a big soft gooey chocolate center bit. It was amazing but now i'm sad because i didnt buy any to bring home and we didnt have time at the end to get those cheap donuts.

kayzisexpecting · 26/11/2008 16:49

Ring is still on. Just had a bath and it wouldn't budge while I was in there. Going to try again first thing in the morning. But I might leave it until after I have BabyKayz just incase they go back down.

Just remembered I have the MW tomorrow. I'm now seeing her every week.

I had a bath with some Clary Sage in it. I feel very relaxed which is nice but no signs of labour. DH is at the shop getting stuff to make a curry for tea. Maybe that will work.

Veggiemummy · 26/11/2008 17:00

When are you due Kayz, it might be that you have to leave it on just as it doesn't cut off your circulation. if your nearly due maybe you won't get much bigger in your hands.

kayzisexpecting · 26/11/2008 17:05

I'm due on the 12th. Still 2 weeks away, which is why I am so annoyed at myself for being so impatient.

OP posts:
Beans33 · 26/11/2008 17:21

I am watching Pam Ayres on Paul O'Grady - I love her - she really makes me laugh a lot. Does anyone else find her hilarious?

Kayz - fingers crossed your ring will come off at some stage before the birth. Just keep trying when you have a spare moment. I found spit works a treat. Just give your finger a good old suck.

I tried to do the erm perrineal massage on myself earlier. I can't reach any more. Oops, left it too late!

Final week at work so will do my best to keep up with the thread(s) while on ML. to think I am still working and there have been 6 babies already.

Hugs to all x

Beans33 · 26/11/2008 17:47

My baby?s due in a week or two
And I?ve realised I?m just not prepared
I?ve got so many things I?m meaning to do
And one that just can?t be shared

My husband would faint if I even suggested
What it is I'd like him to do
He?d feel dirty and a bit molested
If I asked him to massage my foo foo

How's that?? heehee!

reban · 26/11/2008 17:50

yum at cake talk .. it was a caramel covered custard donut from greggs for me at lunch time!! wish id bought two as i could jus t eat another one now!
amy congratulations on the birth of your LO hope all well

last day at work tomorrow cant wait to finish
xx

SummerLightning · 26/11/2008 17:55

Love it beans!!!!

I can't reach either, I tried last night.
DH has been commanded to do it instead!! Tee hee! He doesnt seem to mind actually. Otherwise I was thinking I would have to use a spoon or something to reach and get the leverage required (TMI alert possibly!)

I KNEW I shouldn't have trusted the bendy yoga teacher when she told me it would still be easy to reach at 36+ weeks.

reban · 26/11/2008 18:01

also forgot to say, i get painful braxton hicks - always have, i never get the tightening, always get actual contractions but of varying lengths and levels although never too regular or as painful as real contractions.

And a big thank you to my secret stork. A lovely gift arrived for me and baby reban today so thank you very much xx

ps great poem beans!

kayzisexpecting · 26/11/2008 18:02

Babykayz has been nonstop wriggling for that last hour or so. I feel like I am a washing machine or something.

My mum just came to pick up the new car seat and DS went mad when she went to leave so she asked if she could 'borrow' him for an hour. He looked so excited. So we're having Fish and Chips for dinner.

We can't take aspirin can we? Was just thinking I might have a paracetamol before bed tonight to see if it stops any of the aches, but can only find aspirin in the house.
