OAO I think you might be right about the tendon thing. I've spent all day reorganising the storage in one of our spare room and have been humping heavy boxes about. I kept getting what I wondered were BH (never had then with DS1) where bump kind of hurt but I wouldn't liken them to contractions.

Am confused. What's a vena nigra? Or do you mean linea nigra? I was also wondering where mine is this time. I thought it was due to over production of melanin and I wonder if one is less likely to get them in the winter?

If you think MS's shoe polish craving is strange, I've been fancying advocaat all day...

onwardandoutward · 30/11/2008 17:28

yeah, I mean the line. That would be linea. Mixed up in my mind with vena cava, which is what wakes me up when I roll on to my back in my sleep... [very stupid face]

PinkTulips · 30/11/2008 18:10

have never had the linea nigra although my belly button went brown with ds and it took months to go away [freak emoticon]

bought ds strawberries yesterday as he's been eying them up for week and as predicted he wasn't keen on them so made the kids strawberry goats milk icecream today and we watched the toy show repeat... well, i did, can't say the kids paid much attention!

i hope the pain last night was something as simple as overworked tendons.... less worrying than anything else it could be, was quite bizerre though, the same pain as contractions but without the back pain and it didn't come and go properly like contractions but came in really long waves that lasted 5mins+ and only faded in between, never went properly.

MarkStretch · 30/11/2008 18:20

Oh lordy. DD just said she had a really hard question for me which she didn't think I would be able to answer.

The question was 'Why do boys have to have a winky? Why can't they just have a minnie like us?'

I had to tell her. I told her that they have to have one of those because the man has to put it in a lady in order to make a baby. She looked like this and then said 'that's disgusting, if I had a winky NO WAY would I put it in you'.

Evening ladies. Pinktulips, Spottyshoes and LBB - hope you're all ok and feeling much better today. Love your DD's question Markstretch - and reaction

Have spent most of the weekend on a hypnobirthing course - found it really helpful, positive and affirming so think it was time and money well spent - guess will find out sometime in February/March (though the course leader said hypnobirthing ladies tend to have babies early - kind of hope dont have this one too early as am working till end of January!) DS had a lovely day being pampered rotten by his nanny and some of her friends yesterday and then being spoilt rotten by his grandma today - dont think he even noticed we werent around for most of the day!

MarkStretch · 30/11/2008 19:28

Has anyone seen these photos before?

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 30/11/2008 20:17

So which one is you Markstretch?

littleboyblue · 30/11/2008 20:28

MS How funny of your daughter.
dinky glad your weekend went well, the course sounds good.

Dp is watching SpiderMan and I'm bored, gonna fetch the ice-cream I think.

dinkystinky · 30/11/2008 20:34

Icecream is the solution to all ills LBB - particularly boredom! Have had to switch to frozen yoghurt in an attempt to be more healthy (though just means I eat twice the amount I would normally )

swampster · 30/11/2008 20:39

Those pics are lovely, MS!

MarkStretch · 30/11/2008 20:44

This is me after I gave birth.

Back from a lovely weekend with friends in Suffolk again this weekend. Well, it didn't start out lovely actually. Got stuck in the most unbelievable traffic on the M25 on Friday evening, it took two and half hours to travel from home to a point that would normally take about 40 mins. I'm afraid to say I had a meltdown. We were stuck in stationary traffic on the motorway, I needed a wee (badly) and my bump was starting to hurt. I decided that sitting in that position was starting to harm the baby, and was also in real danger of making a big wet patch on the car seat so I started bawling big style. Funny how you react to things whilst pregnant isn't it?! The saving grace was that we were right by the turning to Bluewater so DH took control and we detoured there so I could have a pee and a sit down. We got some funny looks though - a very noticeably pregnant woman bawling her eyes out and being led to the loo by a slightly stressed looking DH who kept saying 'God, I hope they don't all think I've been beating you up or something'.

Is anyone else starting to find driving uncomfortable? I seem to only be able to manage short trips now, DH is having to do any long journeys as I find it too uncomfortable.

I'm also definitely starting to go back to that awful tiredness from the first couple of months - in fact I'm about to sign off and go to bed! Oh to be on maternity leave, 3 weeks and 2 days to go.

Hope everyone had lovely weekends, I'm off in search of my bed.

pluto · 30/11/2008 20:53

Note to self - in the short time remaining between now and mat leave do not check work email from home on a Sunday night. Seems like half my team are going to be off with flu tomorrow, so could be a stressful Monday for me - the 29 week pg one who hasn't had a day off sick in 3 years (smug / healthy emoticon).

TinkerBellesMum · 30/11/2008 22:41

LBB, don?t worry about the cold extremities, it?s quite normal for little ones to be cold, they concentrate on maintaining the core temperature and don?t worry about the rest until they?re able to control the rest.

LOL MS sounds like you have a bit of pica going there!

I have another growth scan tomorrow morning, I'm getting fed up of seeing that hospital! If I get to Thursday I will start to break records, but the way things are I'm not expecting to smash them. Feeling a little odd today as I've been having regular contractions again. It's reminding me of when Tink was born, I started having contractions on Sunday night, went in for a scan in the morning and had her in the evening. My plan now (whenever it happens) is to wait until I've slept to see what happens with my contractions, if they stop over night then I won't worry, if I don't sleep from them and it's still happening in the morning I'll go in, if anything happens in the meantime (show, waters, dilation) I will go up. We're still joking about having a homebirth, but I'm not sure it's completely a joke from my side. I've posted on the Birth Trauma thread about how I'm feeling about things if anyone wants to risk it

spottyshoes · 01/12/2008 08:32

Everyone open their advent calendars already??

Good luck with the growth scan today TBM.

L.O is moving fine after the fall thanks everyone. Bump felt fine last night but really hurts again this morning - may just be sleeping (all 3 hours of it) funny. Am so tired I feel dizzy though. Have MW on Thurs so will be mentioning all my niggles.

Work again today but only 8 days to go

littleboyblue · 01/12/2008 08:34

Morning everyone

TBM Hope all's well.

Nothing exciting here again. Ds got the worst runny nose, so there's slime everywhere!
Dp's off work tomorrow for a week, so hope to get the tree up. How exciting!!

KT1983 · 01/12/2008 08:51

Morning Ladies,

Hope your ok TBM?

Ive only got 15 working days left!! So excited about finishing now.
im feeling really festive today - Have an urge to put on my Christmas CD & dance around a bit
Much to my embarassment I was dancing around to Madonna's 'like a prayer' yesterday & I think baby is a fan...she was having right little wiggle in my tummy, was really nice & made me laugh out loud [smie]

Im not sure ive had Braxton Hicks yet - What do they feel like? Can you get them anytime? Im 30weeks today - so maybe they are on the cards soon.

littleboyblue · 01/12/2008 08:57

Morning KT,

BH don't hurt, it's just a bit uncomfortable. It feels like a tightening that is then released, similar to contractions but without the pain. I normally find it starts at the top of the bump, but I had them start at the bottom over the weekend, unless that was something else
You could get them anytime now, but lots of people don't even feel them.

rosieposey · 01/12/2008 08:58

Morning all,
TBM hope you are still with us and Fifi is hanging in there!
Did everyone have a nice weekend I had a 4d scan on Saturday which was nice... baby has super chubby cheeks ( a side effect of the diabetes ) but is very cute, he did seem to frown alot in there though - i have put a photo of him up on my profile Also have added a couple of photos of me in my wedding dress before i was ready to leave ... still waiting for the actual official pics to come back as i have none of me and DP I meant to go and buy a Christmas tree but just didnt get around to it so will probably do it today instead. Not much to report here today though except that im cold and really starting to feel pregnant now, lo is turning somersaults constantly and i can always tell what postion he is in because my poor bladder really is suffering - the kicks that he delivers make me wince they are so hard! I nearly crashed the car on the M4 on Saturday because of how hard he stomped!

LittleMissNorty · 01/12/2008 09:02

Morning all

shouldn't be here ...as usual...got loads to do and going out to a friends today....but couldn't resist a quick catch-up

WMMC - that lovely 4D you mentioned is Rosie's ....I'm GD and have put my 2 pics in an album.

Baby's movements are very pronounced now.....and now I know its position, it's odd thinking, oh that's a bum, that's an arm etc.

We're doing our tree at the weekend....wonder how long it'll be before it gets wrecked

LittleMissNorty · 01/12/2008 09:03

x-post Rosie - your pic was lovely of your scan

rosieposey · 01/12/2008 10:31

KT1983 · 01/12/2008 10:45

Hmmm....Note to self - Need to get organised asap!!!

rosieposey · 01/12/2008 10:48

Right theres a piccy of lo and of me in my dress BUT i realised only after putting them up that i am scarily matched to my sofa lol - when i get the professional ones ill put up one of the girls in their bridesmaid dresses ( i was a very proud mummy! ) and of my lovely DP and me ahh two weeks married and its lovely.

I want an advent calender! Thorntons dont do diabetic choccy ones so ill comfort myself with a whole bar i think DP and the girls were happily all tucking into their choccy this morning and i was a bit but im off to Boots later to buy some buscuits because i really miss them ... havent had any cookie type thingies for like ohh... ages!

rosieposey · 01/12/2008 10:50
