Jools - if you ring your GP surgery they should be able to give you the number of the midwives...

Deep breathing stress related!! I'm sure it can be, but I don't think its the cause of our problems! I vacuumed the floor this am and was out of breath and walking to the Post Office with DS was also a trial - but on the other hand I've never been very fit

I had DS in the UK and I was offered an epidural almost at the start. I was told by the midwives that there were no prizes for giving birth naturally if in extreme pain. I would have an epidural again - thank you very much!!

Hope you feel better soon Nikkie!

No more bleeding at the mo, but I'm going to play safe and have cancelled my space in my normal Spinning class tonight - going to go home early-ish and have a nice relaxing warm bath

bantam73 · 08/10/2008 16:06

Hi all,

I can't help but notice people are writing about shortness of breath and I'm suprised docs have not mentioned asthma. It's nothing to panic about. It's a simple peak flow test. I get asthma every time I'm expecting and have to use inhalers which are safe.
I read on 1 web site that 5% of expectent mothers develope asthma then it clears up approx. 4wks after birth.

chubbymummy · 08/10/2008 16:22

Could somebody take me off the list please?

I had a bleed last night, not a lot but enough to worry me. I was sent for an early scan this morning and the midwife told me there was no heartbeat. My baby seems to have died at 6 weeks (I should be 9 on Friday). I have to wait a week to see if my body will reject the baby naturally and if not I will have to have surgery.

I really thought I was worried about nothing and I would be told off for wasting the hospital staffs time. I felt a wave of relief when I saw the baby on the scan but it soon became clear that all was not well.

Good luck to you all with your babies, I look forward to seeing all the birth announcements in May! x

chubbymummy so sorry to hear your news. My thoughts are with you and I hope you are getting good support offline.

Am feeling so rough and work is a nightmare. so am trying to get work done and sleep off the nausea.

Will be back in a few days hopefully.

Oh Chubbymummy I am so sorry

Look after yourself. I am not sure that there are any words of comfort that would help at the moment. We are all carrying such precious cargo - so scary

momino no hospital fees for me, hubbys company pays for the health insurance and we don't have to contribute anything thankfully

cece · 08/10/2008 16:59

Hello feeling brave so think I might see if I can join you all.

I already have two children but the third one is proving to be tricky to produce. So far had a mc at 9 weeks and a late mc at 18 weeks so here's hoping this one is sticky.

I have been for my first scan with the consultant today and the bean seems to be measuring 7.4. This is about 5 days later than my dates but I OV late this month and didn't get a bfp till I was 5 weeks so I was expecting it. So not sure of due date yet - by lmp it should be 18th/20th May ish time.

I am also having a normal 12 week scan plus one at 17 weeks. Got my booking in appointment with mw next week. So it is all happening here.

Rubysmom08 · 08/10/2008 17:30

oh chubby mummy how dreadful. Hope you are OK and have a good support network.

With my last mc I didn't want surgery as I had a dreadful time with a previous ectopic. Instead I was advised to take as much evening primrose as I could stomach. My little one came away the following morning and I buried her in my garden under a rose bush I planted to remember my dad by. It felt right to me to place the bean there so my dad could look after them in the next place.

Cry when you are ready and don't feel you have to stop until you are ready too.

Check my advice though with your EPU as it was a couple of years ago and things may have changed xxx

SpangleMaker · 08/10/2008 18:32

chubbymummy so sorry to hear your news look after yourself. Hope you are back on an antenatal thread soon x

Hello cece, welcome! Sorry to hear about your previous mcs. I hope this one works out for you

Re spotting, I don't think it matters whether it's brown or red tbh. Bleeding from the cervix can be red as the blood is still fresh. In my case it's mostly been red/pinky blood and bean was ok at 9w scan.

Epidurals.... certainly wouldn't rule one out, and agree with others that there are no prizes for bravery, the important thing is that mum & baby get through safe and well. A friend of mine told me how much strength she felt she gained from getting through childbirth with only gas & air and I'm sure that's true for a number of women. But I guess it could equally have been an horrific experience that could have affected her for years later and an epidural's got to be better than that.

Really noticed the breathlessness today when I had to dash for a train. Sat down in the quiet coach & was rather embarrassed by my heavy breathing that seemed to go on for about 10 minutes - had only dashed across a couple of platforms too

MrsEvs · 08/10/2008 18:39

spanglemaker - good to know about the colour of the spotting thanks, I didn't know that and I'm sure it's a comfort to those who are experiencing it.

CoteDAzur · 08/10/2008 18:59

Hi everyone. Nausea finally hit today, at 7 weeks. I haven't been sick yet, but feel my stomach is too close to my mouth for comfort. It is tough but I'm happy to at last have a pregnancy symptom

CoteDAzur · 08/10/2008 19:01

chubbymummy I hope to see you soon on pregnancy threads again.

nauseous · 08/10/2008 19:27

So sorry chubbymummy. Look after yourself.

nauseous · 08/10/2008 19:46

Thank you for your messages ladies, good to know you're out there. So I called the doctor - I was typically rubbish at begging and settled for a blood test but stupidly forgot to ask what the blood test would show - HCG levels? I've no idea, and how reliable would this blood test be ? basically have to wait till Weds to find out the results - for what they're worth. So.. I'm still no closer to knowing either way, and without a return of symptoms, bleeding or going to some sort of drop in EPU service, I'm no closer to knowing. I DID do a home preg test and it said positive - which great but but I've no idea if this is normal if you're miscarrying or have miscarried. Any ideas anyone?

Think I will ring doctor back tomorrow and be a bit more prepared...

Jools1 · 08/10/2008 20:55

Came home from work and fell asleep in the bath

Was feeling exhausted, mild stretching pains, nauseous and just so incredibly hormonal - cried my heart out earlier - think I'd been more stressed out about the brown blood at lunchtime than I realised.

Have eaten chocolate and pizza - feeling a bit better and praying for a good sleep tonight.

frazzledoldbag34 · 08/10/2008 20:59

Oh chubbymummy - so, so sorry for you. Please take care of yourself and good luck in the future [big hug]
nauseous yes I guess the blood test will show if your HCG is at the right level. But if you're really worried I'd call back and insist on a quick scan.
Am going for my dating scan at 9am - am actually quite nervous after the spotting episode and the slight cramping I had yesterday. DH still isn't intending to come with me - which I think is a bit horrid of him. It's not that he doesn't care, it's just that this is the 3rd baby and he hated all the scans and hosp visits with the other 2 and I think he just can't see the point. He doesn't accept that it might not be good news.......and I haven't asked anyone else to come (although I have several friends who would love to if asked) and my step-mum would be there whether I wanted her or not if she knew DH wasn't coming. Just think I'd rather go it alone [sighs dramatically and gulps].
Good luck to the other ladies having their scans tomorrow - there are about 3 of us I think? Hopefully we'll all be back on tomorrow with positive bean reports. Fingers crossed x

Oh and I've been feeling hormonal and teary today too! (just to join in with Jools!) Bought DD1 a lovely boxed set of Roald Dahl books after school then when she had a strop in the car on the way home and said she didn't want to read them I had to fight back tears and gulp so as not to cry whilst on the dual carriageway. Lost my temper, called her a spoilt ungrateful child, and then felt dreadful.
Needless to say we've just had a lovely time reading 'The Twits' together and are best friends again .
Oh the joys of children!

frazzledoldbag34 · 08/10/2008 21:17

dandylioness - crossed posts there. Thanks for your support.
I have told him I'd like it if he was there, but he's not still not keen. Not going to push it, can't face another argument after last night with me going
'and I bet you won't even bother to come with me in labour and by the way last time you were crap!'.
Which didn't go down at all well. He was absolutely insulted that I suggested he might not come with me in labour. To be honest I am wondering whether I should hire a doula and leave him at home to look after the DD's? From a purely selfish perspective that is quite appealing! At least the doula won't dare fall asleep in the corner and snore all night while I yell my head off through contractions.
[oh poor me!!!!!!] He's not that bad, honestly! I'm making him sound like a monster when really he's just way too laid back about these things (IMO)

Jools1 · 08/10/2008 21:24

Well my DP has an absolute horror of hospitals - he has epilepsy and spent most of his formative years being dragged round consultants - so I'm worried he is going to flatly refuse not only to go to any scans with me but also to be with me in the hospital during labour Am going to cross that bridge nearer the time - and consider a home birth !
