Done! having a healthy baby thing... Didn't find out the sex, but all go and it was very busy kicking and sucking its thumb. Already thinking how expensive orthodontistry is... Hee hee!

Ebs26 · 01/08/2008 15:13

Congrats Beans33 - really happy for you hun!

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 15:16

It's a boy!!! all other measures and everything fine, it was very quick, but i'm sure she checked everything, just used to the FMC they are quite thorough.

DS so lovely, he got really excited when he saw the baby this time, i had told him before hand that it doesn't hurt me when they do the scan. When he saw a full shot of the baby with it's hand reaching up, his mouth opened wide and he put both his hands over his mouth in excitement it was so cute. When the lady said it was a boy, he said 'i will be a brother and he will be a brother' DH and i started tearing up it was a really lovely family moment.

so excited now and really looking forward to meeting him. Though there go my dreams of having a little girl called Daisy, oh well i do like my boys.

Ebs26 · 01/08/2008 15:19

Such good news - congrats on baby boy veggiemummy! How exciting!

Beans33 · 01/08/2008 15:31

WEll done Veggie! I wasn't sure if you were finding out or not! I made DH look at me all the way through the bits bit, because I knew if we weren't looking at eachother, we'd try and catch a peek at what it was going to be.

Still calling it an it, although "he" does seem to creep in. Think it could be a boy!

zoejeanne · 01/08/2008 15:37

Congratulations veegie and beans on two more successful scans - so that's two boys and two surprises today. It's so exciting, imagine how excited I'm going to be in December when we're seeing them for real and not just on a screen. Loving all the good news on a Friday!

Congrats Rosmerta, Summerlightning Beans and Veggiemummy on great scans!

We're still not sure if we want to find out yet what it is - didn't last time and quite happy not to, but a bit curious. I guess it doesn't make any difference - we get what we're getting anyway!

jenduck - I also had a spell living in Brussels really enjoyed it and love going back! At least the frites are pregnancy safe!

Beans33 · 01/08/2008 15:46

PS Thanks Mibbes. Very kind of you to say that. I chose good pictures, of course!!!!

I'm off for the weekend now guys, so have a great time and speak next week. HAVE FUN!

theyoungvisiter · 01/08/2008 15:47

oh how lovely! Congratulations everyone. Veggie your post about your DS1 made me tear up a bit too!

We were going to find out this time (having decided not to with DS) but when we asked the baby wouldn't behave and put its legs together! So I'm taking that as a hint. One of my friends said "oh well it must be a girl - boys never miss a chance to show off their bits!"

So pleased for all the successful scans...

EffiePerine · 01/08/2008 15:52

Glad the scans went well Beans and Veggiee

am sniffing a bit at Veggie's DS too...

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 15:52

i love finding out partially because it helps me assign a little more personality and well mainly because i have a short attention span and 9 months is such a longtime i need something in the middle to keep me going.

speaking of keeping me going i just had 2 choclate coated donuts is that bad.

EffiePerine · 01/08/2008 15:54

I think I'd like to find out this time, partly because I'm increasingly convinced (on zero evidence) that this is a boy and have to get my head around the girl thing if I'm wrong!

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 15:59

i know what you mean Effie i really thought this was a girl and while i'm really happy to have another boy it is weird to get my head around it when i was so set on a girl at least i have sometime now til it comes, not sure what it would have been like at the birth.

now we are stuck for names, our Surname is very short ony 3 letters and we chose a 3 syllable name for DS1 for that reason and think it works well, but now we have to find another one, so far we have come up with Benjamin.

Jenduck i didnt see that programme was it on recently could it still be on BBC iplayer?

EffiePerine · 01/08/2008 16:05

Dh is Benjamin, it's a good name

Benedict
William
Samuel
Frederick
Gustavus (I wants it! Or Gustave. DH says no )
Christopher
Daniel

??

zoejeanne · 01/08/2008 16:10

I love Benjamin, but would it be shortened to Ben, giving your boy two short names? Does Ben ... sound good together?

I want Ben if we have a boy, but DH had a dog called Ben a few years ago, so it's forever an animal name to him (although I've vetoed Rob/Robert on the same basis!)

EffiePerine · 01/08/2008 16:11

Dominic is nice too

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 16:11

yeah i was thinking of William too it was my dad's name so a bit special in that sense. Oh and Samuel that is a good one too. I have to say i have an unusual name and while i would never change it and like my name, i think i would have prefered it i'd had a more traditional name esp as my other 3 siblings had very normal names.

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 16:13

our DS is Alexander which we love in full only so have discouraged any shortening so far to Alex.

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 16:14

i like Dominic but i don't think DH does.

EffiePerine · 01/08/2008 16:22

DS1 is William and we don't shorten it

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 16:31

mmmm.... i think William might go to the top of the pile, i don't think DH is as keen as Billy or Will would sound really bad with our surname but maybe if i wait until 2 mins after it's born to drop it then he has no chance does he. Actually what we usually do is have 2 or 3 options and then decide after he is born, oh he its a he. I do like my boys. I hope this one has a similar temperament to DH & DS.

zoejeanne · 01/08/2008 16:51

William is high on our boys list too. Strangely I like Alexander for a boy, but not Alex. And Alex for a girl, but not Alexandra!

We're going for a short list of a few - I always wonder how people choose a definite name beforehand and what happens if the baby comes out not looking anything like the chosen name??

Ok, signing off the the weekend - enjoy it everyone

TheInvisibleHand · 01/08/2008 17:13

We didn't decide on names until after DD was born so she was nameless for a few days. DH has a relatively common surname so its quite easy to end up with an accidental celeb name, which we'd rather avoid. DH's parents gave him an unusual first name and somehow managed to name him after a famous musician without realising it. Lucky for him its no one too hideously embarassing.

Have a good weekend!

jenduck · 01/08/2008 17:37

Wow, only been away a couple of hours & so busy on here! Chatty lot

Ebs26 I am surprised too that DH can feel kicks so early but think we have a right little wriggler in here. First time he had the inside of his wrist, where his veins are, against me, so a really sensitive part, if you see what I mean, so then he knew what he was feeling for next time.

Beans congrats on successful scan!

Veggiemummy congrats too! Re: Balderdash & Piffle TV programme, it was last on about a year ago I'd say, so may not be on iplayer. Could be worth checking on BBC website. They also brought a book out on it.

InvisibleHand glad to find someone else who loves Brussels! So many people think it's boring, to me & DH it's a second home. What did you do out there? I worked at the Commission, so had the good lifestyle to go with that, always helps!

We like Frederick as a boy's name - would get called Freddie. I also like Theodore, which DH would have as a middle name but not a first name. Girl's names, I love Isabelle or Caitlin. I love names you can abbreviate. We have an unusual surname, so have to be careful about what goes.

Am off for weekend now, ILs visiting for BBQ at my parents'. Have a good one everybody!

rosmerta · 01/08/2008 17:38

Invisiblehand, you've got me all curious now as to your dh's name . Must admit, I have known 2 Barry Whites!

Congratulations to Beans & Veggie. Must admit, I also teared up a little at Veggie's ds!
