Morning, and good luck to those with scans today (rosmerta you'll be being scanned as I type this, so hope it's going well).

Effie - I'm also in the larger size and stretchy at the moment, I don't want to buy too many mat. clothes now and then need to re-stock for winter. I do have a mat. swimming cossie (that I'm not wearing yet cause the belly is too big!) and some pants on order, I've got really annoyed with all my pants rolling down, and they're not even big pants so I didn't think they'd be in the way of my bump!

On christenings, we've a family gown which is at least 5 generations old. We will get ours christened and I like the idea of using the gown ... but I was a 6 lb-er and had to be christened at 6 weeks before I grew out of it, and as no-one seems to have 6 lb-ers anymore I can't see myself getting a christening organised that quickly it might just have to be displayed on a hanger!

Have a good day all

Morning everyone,

I've just thrown up my breakfast! Anyone else still got morning sickness/hyperemesis hanging about or is it just me? I'm still on the anti-sickness tablets. I tried to stop them last weekend and spent all of Sunday being sick.

I got a great pair of Topshop maternity jeans in dark blue. A bit pricey but really comfy and flattering. Good for smartish-casual wear. I'm finding I'm bored of the few things that fit already! I think I need more than 2 trousers and 1 skirt!

mibbes How exciting you have your pram and nursery furniture ordered! How did you narrow down the pram choice? There are so many!

rosmerta Having a christening gown made from your wedding dress is a lovely idea. My mum has dug out the 'family' gown. Apparently it is knitted . I really dread to think what it looks like! I should thank my lucky stars she didn't keep any of the brown dungarees she dressed me in!

Hope you feel better soon chutney

Hello abbymeg! How are things with you?

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 09:23

can you get delicate old christening gowns let out? maybe you could kind of lay it on top of baby ZJ

zoejeanne · 01/08/2008 09:46

That's an idea veggie!! Actually it might be for the best, I'd be mortified if after 5 generations my baby was the one to poo or vomit on it! So maybe it should be kept as far from the baby as possible.

Forgot to say, I tried the DVD test last night, but nothing. I think baby zj is a wriggler but not a kicker yet - will try again in a week

Oh no, poor JollyBear. Minging. I'm afraid I'm feeling ok.

Am feeling very nervous/excited/apprehensive as have got my scan at 12.15 today. EEEK! Actually makes my heart beat faster when I think about it. Sure all will be ok. Keep fingers crossed! rosmerta, hope yours went ok. Veggie is yours today too?

Re tummy cramps, mine are coming and going. Haven't been woken up by them, but they are definitely there, particularly when I walk at speed. Which I try to do every morning to the bus stop! but sure it's just normal growing pains.

Re the DVD thing - I get mine from LoveFilm and did the test while they were still in their paper sleeve! Although if it's any consolation, tried it again last night and nothing happened, so it's not foolproof! But generally, think that DVD thing is a good size to see the movement if they do deign to kick!

Hope all are well.

SummerLightning · 01/08/2008 10:07

Had my scan, all is good, normal size for dates, and it is A BOY!!
Was pretty cute, playing with the cord and sucking it's thumb, aww.
Good luck everyone else with theirs today, as Beans says it is scantastic!!!

Beans33 · 01/08/2008 10:12

Oh hurray Summer, that's brilliant news! How do you feel about having a boy?

SummerLightning · 01/08/2008 10:17

I think it's GREAT!!!
But having a girl would have been great too...they told us at the nuchal scan it was likely to be a boy so we were expecting a boy, so I am very happy! Also we have only thought of boys names so far....so saves some effort!

SummerLightning · 01/08/2008 10:18

DO you have an intuition what yours is Beans?

EffiePerine · 01/08/2008 10:20

Good luck for the scan today Beans.

Congrats on your little boy SL . Boys are great.

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 10:23

yay a boy summer thats lovely.

not long now Beans i'm a bit nervous too bu.t excited to be able to tell DS if its a boy or girl given how lovely he is i think i'm wanting another boy, but then a girl would be lovely too, carry on the female line and all that. I come from family on both sides that tends to have a lot of girls.

i just made DS's cbeebies card but just read on the website it is best to send it in with 4 weeks notice. aaahhh his birthday is the 17th don't think i will mention it to him anymore and will V+ the birthday card reading thing on his birthday to have a look first to see if it's on there before showing him.

Jollybear you poor thing my nausea isn't that bad, what a nightmare.

EffiePerine · 01/08/2008 10:24

When's your scan Veggie?

Beans33 · 01/08/2008 10:27

I don't have any intuition at all on what it is. I thought it might be a girl for a while, but that's because I thought I wanted one! Now I think it's a boy, because everyone else keeps telling me they think it is. although how they'd know is beyond me, when I don't have a clue and it's in me!!!

DH thinks it's a boy because when we played table tennis it was really kicky, so he thinks it was getting involved in sport. Although why that would exclude a girl is beyond me! Foolish man.

EEK! So nervy!

SIL is getting married tomorrow and I'm doing make up (trained as a make up artist a while back, but don't do it as much as I'd like now - secretarial work more lucrative!). Quite looking forward to it - think it'll be a great day. Although think only dress I'll fit into is black. Rubbish for a happy summer day!

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 10:32

oh Beans there are loads of nice maternity dressy dresses. I went to wedding in australia last year and 3 of the guest were pregnant one was 7 months and their dresses were better than mine. Maternity clothes are much better over here so you wuld easily find something nice although not much time.

My scan is at 1.50pm today. the more i think about it the more i think it is a girl which would also be lovely, i can def see DS as a wonderful big brother to a girl.

Beans33 · 01/08/2008 10:42

I know, I ought to have looked harder. I'm hoping to squeeze into a dress I wore pre-pregnancy - it's loose over the gut, but not 100% sure I'll be able to do it up round my back - I've definitely expanded there!

Has anyone got any pics of themselves on their profile? I've put a couple up, but they're at my wedding, so I look a bit nicer than I do usually! Going to bung on a more recent one - with bump!

jenduck · 01/08/2008 11:06

Hi all,

Talking of maternity clothes, be sure to raid the sales that are on at the moment. I got a lovely maternity dress from Red Herring last week, down from £35 to £5! Bargain! I have 2 weddings to go to this summer, so this should see me through both (luckily they are different sets of guests at each wedding )

I also went to Peacocks the other day & got 2 camis, 1 vest top, 1 cute slogan T-shirt & 1 pair denim shorts for £10 total! Original cost £32! H&M also have sale on their Mama range but nothing in my size unfortunately.

Beans just wanted to say from those pics there is no way you are a size 14! Wish I looked like that

I think I have got a footballer in here - kicks like mad! I held my 1 month old niece yesterday & baby went into a jealous rage - really kicked as if to say 'Mummy, I'm still here!' DH can now feel it too which is great - felt a bit like he was missing out before.

Good luck to all with scans today.

Beans33 · 01/08/2008 11:07

Ooh, how exciting, Jenduck - wish mine would kick more - but sure I'll soon be wishing it would stop!

that clothing session sounds brilliant - I'm going onto Red Herring now!

jenduck · 01/08/2008 11:10

Oh yes, Christening gowns, DH & I lived in Brussels for a year & decided then that if we ever had children, they would have a Belgian lace christening gown. Gives us another excuse for a visit plus I love all things continental, being a linguist. We are not religious as such but got married in a church (same one I & my sisters were christened & 1 sister married in), & helped out a couple of times at village fete, so well known to vicar. I like the tradition.

Beans33 · 01/08/2008 11:19

We've got one on DH's side of the family that's been used for generations, apparently. not really my scene, but if that's what they want, will do it to keep them happy! Nothing as posh on our family's side!

rosmerta · 01/08/2008 11:20

hi all, scan went well! The tummy is ahead of the rest of him by a couple of weeks but nothing to worry about, just takes after mum & dad . Didn't find out what the sex was and I really don't have any feeling for which it could be!

summer glad your scan went well, yay for boys!

beans & veggie good luck for later

Beans33 · 01/08/2008 11:21

Right, I'm off!

Will let you know how it goes. EEK!

Beans33 · 01/08/2008 11:21

Meant to say - WELL DONE ROSMERTA!

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 11:23

Jenduck i would love to have done linguistics, it is one of those areas i would have done in another life, that and being an exotic mushroom farmer.

Veggiemummy · 01/08/2008 11:30

yay rosemerta all done thats great, enjoy beans catcha later.

Purple79 · 01/08/2008 11:33

Morning ladies,
Oh summer how wonderful a little boy, glad your scan went well.

Alot of my friends & family think im having a boy, only because im all at the front which is probably a 'ye ole wives tale'.

rosemerta, veggie & beans and anyone else i've missed out, sorry - good luck with yours today Im feeling excited for you

Hope your nausea/sickness eases soon jolly how terrible. thinking of you.

Re: cramps, im not waking up with them, but I did have them last week after I left work got a abit worried and slowed down to near pigeon steps - they soon went but were very uncomfortable - think it was because i was rushing to get my lift home... ooops - note to self, stop rushing.

In general feeling mighty fine...
