Well, I hope a lot more of us can manage to have our babies in THIS thread, even if we will probably talk our way through it well before the end of the month!

DonutMum · 09/07/2008 11:26

www.aqyv90.dsl.pipex.com/contraction.htm

Here? Looks a bit of a faff but i guess birth partner can do it for you. Assuming you're at home and can get on-line.

Poledra · 09/07/2008 11:30

Butterfly, I think you're mixing me up with someone else - I'm the grand old age of 37, so HHF and Billy right in my age group

pigleychez · 09/07/2008 11:30

Anyone watching This morning? Theres abit soon about the Freebirthing programme thats on tonight.

Channel 5 at 9pm

Ladies giving birth, alone, no midwife, no medical intervention.- Anyone fancy it?

I had previously put tonights programme on skyplus in case i was otherwise engaged!!!Not likely though!!

Sorry i'll stop waffling now- I should be ironing but really cant be bothered!

gillythekid · 09/07/2008 11:32

BMQ ain't no age limit where music is concerned, I like anything from Django Rheinhart, Simon and Garfunkel through to Public Enemy and Arctic Monkeys!
I have 7 hours worth of music lined up for labour including some Jeff Buckley (and Tim!) and lots of Sigur Ros (very atmospheric Icelandic stuff) Hope I don't have to loop it! Will be hypnobirthing so have to leave the Prodigy and Nirvana at home.

sigur ros did i watch the culture show on them?

i know the age thing gilly but have turned 40 myself and expect you lot all to be youngsters!

bebejones · 09/07/2008 11:34

I should be hoovering.....instead I am hovering on MN!! Had 3 hours of BH last night, and since they subsided LO has been going nuts!! Don't think she appreciated it. Way too tired to hoover, DH will have to do it!!!

On the music front, have a varied selection on my ipod, everything from Eva Cassidy to Guns n Roses! Very random, but will keep me entertained!

ButterflyMcQueen · 09/07/2008 11:35

i have necer done any music...sorry but too focused to care and would prob be annoyed with it!

Poledra · 09/07/2008 11:37

LOL Gilly! Not taking the Aerosmith, Red Hot Chilli Peppers or AC/DC for the same sort of reasons! Tho' DH says he thinks it'll be a bit depressing for the LO if she's born to 'Hallelujah' and perhaps 'Walk This Way' might be more encouraging

sweetkitty · 09/07/2008 11:38

Update from me still getting pains every 5 minutes or so, stopping me in my tracks but not as painful as I think they should be, have phoned MW and she's coming out to check me over (I get such good service). If she checks me and says my cervix is closed and nothing is happening think I will burst into tears!

Jodie - aww thats lovely glad Sam is doing really well, the cluster feeding sounds normal at this age and it does settle down thankfully.

Wow there seems a lot of us in the same situation niggly pains, sore bums but not coming to much, maybe we are all in synch and will pop at the same time

Happy due date to butterfly, aggie and Jacobs, now these babies should be born today!

polyxene - best of luck for today hope you have gone naturally talk about by the skin of your teeth

Donutmum - I had the same last night a good clear out and then loads of pressure in my bum well still got it, I'm due the 10th so a few days ahead of you.

Wonder who will be next surely we all must go soon, disney and purple will have their babies, polyxene will have hers soon.

Mcchesers where are you today?

Poledra · 09/07/2008 11:38

Sleepycat, my hosp has CD players in the delivery rooms - chained to the wall, mind you, but at least they're there!

Oh it better be

gillythekid · 09/07/2008 12:39

I've got a portable Tivoli Audio to plug my ipod into, you can charge it up and it lasts for hours, they insist on PAT testing if you bring plug in stuff to the hospital, as if we haven't got enough to think about!

AggiePanther · 09/07/2008 12:41

Happy due date to you too BMcQ
SK - sounds hopeful!!

easy contraction counter for whoever was asking - sorry I forget

EEC · 09/07/2008 12:45

Might go and rifle through my CD's as my hospital has CD players in rooms. However, like Buteerfly McQueen can't imagine that I will even think about it when it comes to it. Too much else to focus on - the sound of my screams probably!

Lovely old lady in Tescos this morning bent down to reach tins of tomatoes for me. Told me I was very 'neat' too. Little things do make a difference. I had just dropped and smashed a jar of pasta sauce and was feeling a bit tearful, so she saved the day.

SK - really hope this is it for you...

AggiePanther · 09/07/2008 12:45

sorry meant to add click on 'start timing contractions' at top R of page ...no need to sign up or anything

isaidno · 09/07/2008 14:19

I made DH put the waterproof mattress protector on as ours is less than 2yrs old and is super-duper 'memory foam' type - but you get really clammy where you've been touching the sheets! Better than the alternative though!

I don't so much have a specific playlist but DH has been putting stuff on the pc in preparation - but then we had a massive hail storm and thunderstorm on monday when I was asleep and now the pc doesn't work... ... man came to take it away this morning and will hopefully be able to fix it - so perhaps I won't go into labour until it's back! (due for home birth)

pigleychez · 09/07/2008 15:19

I wonder if things are happening for SK as we havent heard anything for a while???

Also not heard from Heffa???? or Mcchessers????

Me thinks we will have a flurry of baby announcments soon...

If only mine were one of them Ho hum!

sweetkitty · 09/07/2008 15:22

Well MW came round about lunchtime, said I am definitely having milk to moderate contractions, cervix is about 1cm (normal for woman who has had a baby) but soft. She said IHO she will be back this evening

Had an hours sleep this afternoon and they seem to have stopped but am getting shooting pains in my fanjo.

How is everyone else?

pigleychez · 09/07/2008 15:35

Oh SK, Hope things kick off properly soon.

Nice that your MW comes to visit you and not have to go to the hospital to be assessed.

Only pains i get are when baby wrigles around and sticks its bum and feet in the air.
DH thinks baby will come on its due date - Sat.
