Well, I hope a lot more of us can manage to have our babies in THIS thread, even if we will probably talk our way through it well before the end of the month!

Hi Everyone

Had last consultant visit today and gave bloods before my big day next Monday. I then came home and fell asleep. Slept through phone and door bell ringing ( a friend cam e to visit and I did not even wake up )and only woke at 6pm when DH and DD got home. I have been so exhausted without even realising and can not believe I slept so much! Not sure how well I will settle tonight!
Anyway just a quick drop in to wish everyone well. Sorry so many of you are suffering. Congrats also to Peanut on little CHarlie's progress! Good luck McChesers! And well done all new Mummies!

CilC · 08/07/2008 23:41

Oh and all the best polyxene! And anyone else I have forgotten!
Thanks also for the person who gave the underwire nursing bra link - I so need some of these!

sweetkitty · 09/07/2008 02:17

Am now wide awake trying to work out whether it's bad BHs I'm having or contractions

bet you all it's BHs?!!!!

sweetkitty · 09/07/2008 03:32

Update 3.30am still don't know

I'm a third timer and don't know if I am in labour or not

So DP and I had relations tonight (what a laugh but another thread) afterwards had a few BHs but got off to sleep. 2.15am ish woken by sore BHs, been downstairs ever since, they are about every 3-5 minutes tightening of my stomach and intense pressure in my bum. Now with the other two there has been no mistake, DD1 waters went first, DD2 was in agony and screaming from the off. These are sore but not too bad. Don't want to wake anyone for a false alarm which if it is I will be very cross in the morning.

Why can't you have a red light that comes on when it's time?

isaidno · 09/07/2008 07:14

SK- how's it going??? They say eery labour is different, and my 3rd was not much like the first 2 at all!

Good luck mcchesers - you might have a baby now!

sweetkitty · 09/07/2008 07:40

Sorry ladies false alarm, pains continued all night then went to bed at 5am and fell asleep, only usual aches and pains.

So 4+ hours of BHs every 5 minutes and still nothing, am totally gutted this morning. Still getting the pains though

DonutMum · 09/07/2008 08:24

Morning all. Had a "clear out" last night (sorry, tmi) and was getting strong BH but nothing happened. Terrible downward pressure and backache though. Getting a bit annoyed.

DH is back in the country now so happy for lo to make an appearance - yay!

Good labour vibes to y'all in the same boat.

Sweetkitty - are you due on the 12th? That's the day after me. Race you! It's my third too, and I can't believe I don't know what labour is this time round either. V .

pigleychez · 09/07/2008 08:41

Morning all!

Im another one with BH's last night that came to nothing.

Had stomach cramps on and off all day which did seem to get worse later in the day. Was talking to a friend on facebook who got me all excited saying hers started like that and was convinced this was it for me...No chance.

soo frustrating isnt it!

Good luck to those going in today/anyone with proper pains!

JacobsPrincess · 09/07/2008 08:49

Sorry to hear about all the false alarms, ladies. Having had BH's for days, now due date is here and absolutely nothing is going on! I'm just glad I'm not the only one who is not a first-timer but doesn't know what labour is this time IYSWIM.

We need some more babies on this thread - come on, think cervix-ripening thoughts!

Polyxene · 09/07/2008 08:49

Bah, why is nothing ever straightforward. Got ready for 8.00am as told, and rang the number for the antenatal ward we were given on the induction leaflet, as they said to do, only to find I wasn't 'in their book' at all. Turned out I was booked straight into labour ward for ARM, fine by me just not the people we were told to ring. Anyway, labour ward admitted that I was in their book, but they had three ongoing inductions on at the moment so couldn't fit me in right now - I'm to ring back at 11.00 and see how things were going. This sounds like the start of a horrible waiting game that could take all day or more. :-( All a bit stressful.

Well, I ought to try to rest a bit more (didn't get a very good night's sleep, unsurprisingly) though I may be too tense to manage it.

Good luck to Sweetkitty, Donut, and anyone else!

Oh Polyxene.... What a pain! Fingers crossed they have space later..

Go get some rest

gillythekid · 09/07/2008 09:05

Oh Polyxene how frustrating! I really hope you don't have too much waiting around, take a nice relaxing bath and go back to bed. Good luck.
Anyone else's BH's come to anything? I've had 2 false alarms already! My best friend said I'd know when it's the real thing!
I'm going to try to get back to bed for a while as I was up quite a lot in the night, SPD pain really unbearable but I see the physio tomorrow and that normally makes it ok for 2 days or so.
Come on baba's, let's get you out!!!

JacobsPrincess · 09/07/2008 09:08

Oh Poly - how annoying!! Try and get some rest and send some good vibes to those 3 women who beat you to the induction queue!
Be tahnkful labour ward didn't try and squeeze you in - the last thing you need is overstretched MW'S.
Hope things are sorted soon.

AggiePanther · 09/07/2008 09:24

Another one here with lots of BHs but nothing else despite a show last week. It's my due date today too ...somebody really ought to tell this baby.

Hope you don't have to wait too long Poly.
Good luck to all of you with niggles.
Happy due date to you JacobsP

Funnily enough, while waiting, I've since been having contractions for the last hour! Fairly regularly every 5 mins, 30 secs duration. Still might not come to anything of course, but I've just rung labour ward anyway, and they said to come in at 11.00 and see, so I guess that's what we'll do...

JacobsPrincess · 09/07/2008 10:27

And to you Aggie!
I think it's just too warm and comfortable in there for the LO's to want to come out. I'm considering ordering an eviction notice...

mummy2bsoon · 09/07/2008 10:39

congrats all the new mums to be...

hmmmmmmmmm....

ButterflyMcQueen · 09/07/2008 10:47

sweet kitty poor you!

i have this and dp is most un sympathetic

he says 'wen you are in labour it is NOT like this' when i am like you! i suppose he is right i am normally 0-60 in about 10 seconds with no slow build....

HAPPY DUE DATE to me!!!

not feeling optimistic - am getting toe nails painted professionally later - what fun

poly you poor thing - should still all be today though - i have been where you are and remember the nervous feeling whilst waiting - very hard.

that will be me on monday!

Poledra · 09/07/2008 10:47

Morning all - sorry to say, but I have no problems sleeping through night. Usually up once on average to go to the loo but that's it. Worst bit is peeling myself off the waterproof cover thing we have on the bed in case my waters go (well, the mattress is only 4 years ol and was quite exzpensive at the time!) Probably means this baba is nowhere near getting ready to come out - might be joining the induction queue on Tues. Mind you, I didn't want her to come before today - my parents arrive to stay today, so anytime from now on is cool.

I have an incredibly sore bum today - feels like I've been out on a 2-hour hack (and I haven't had the time to do that since dd1 was born!).

Now sitting on the sofa MNetting, listening to Jeff Buckley and chilling, as once mum gets here, she'll talk constantly!! Love her dearly but god that woman can chat. Just to pass the time, what music have y'all got ready for labour? Mine are the aforementioned Mr. Buckley, Billy Bragg, Hothouseflowers and KT Tunstall

JODIEhavingababy · 09/07/2008 10:48

Morning all,

just a quick update while house is quiet (Both Oliver and Sam are asleep and Dh taken dog for a walk.. Heaven!) I'm just waiting for MW to arrive (heel prick test today )

I have caught up (just about) and congrats to all you other new mummies, and sending labour vibes to all you with false alarms, there seems to be alot of you! It will happen I promise! I started to use that contraction calculator, but only managed to time about 4 of them before I realised they were already 3.5 mins apart and lasting 40 secs!!! Good tool to have though!

Little Sam is doing well, all my fears about BF have gone, other than that initial latching on, it doesn't hurt any more and he has a good 40 min feed every 3-4 hoursd in the day and 'cluster feeds' between about 8 and 12 then he has another feed at 2 ish thn sleeps until about 6! It's lovely, I hope this doesn't change! Oliver has really taken to him and can't stop kissing him, he calls him Spam! Maybe a nickname that will last forever, (my friends brother is known by everyone as Mash coz she couldn't say Matt when he was born!)

Anyway, I'm going to go and read for abit while I get the chance! best wishes to you all.

Jodie
