Well, I hope a lot more of us can manage to have our babies in THIS thread, even if we will probably talk our way through it well before the end of the month!

Hi All,

Hope all these bubbas threatening arrive soon. I am waddling today as I can feel bubbas head right down in my ** and cannot close my legs. Have been out doing some serious weeding and digging in the garden. Had a semi-decent sleeep last night so I am off to do some acupuncture on the relevant points whilst DD is at nursery, Mum has gone to window shop and pick DD up and DH is back at work.

Am a bit scared though as I just spoke to my neighbour who had her DS in the hospital 2 weeks ago and she said the MWs were awful and she had to beg for pain relief (thye kept trying to put her off) and then when they discovered her littly was back to back and had to forceps her they were telling her off for not pushing properly!! First time MUm, exhausted and scared - how the hell are you supposed to know? Plus she said the wards are awful and food is hellish - argg!

Please God let me be in and back home the same day!!

Hope everyone is well (as can be expected) and fingers x SWEETKITTY that DD 3 will be introducing herself soon. x

Hope DISNEY managed to deliver ok and her wee boy is okay too.

POLY - fingers x you are in labour too.xx

Byee allxx

Thanks everyone for your congratulations messages-it's lovely to know that people care. We got back home from hosp yesterday and are settling in a home. I haven't slept more than afew hours in 3 days but am still on a 'high' from the birth. I'm preparing for maybe having a low couple of days soon. Really enjoying being a new mum but haven't really got a clue what I should be doing! I'm finding bf really hard-both my nipples were bleeding on day 1 so ever feed is agony at the moment. We've mastered a good latch on the R one (but it still can take me 1hr and 15 painful failed attempts to get that baby fights alot) but I've got an inverted nipple on the L side and haven't managed a latch yet so am trying to express- manually expressing is ok but can't get anything with the hand pump- any tips?

Weighed myself today , I've only lost 4kg wt during the birth and am now left with 18g to lose to get down to normal- cannot believe that I have put that much wt on??? I know its a very self centred thought but I was hoping that someone will say something to cheer me up!

Haven't had time to catch up with posts yet- I expect the babes are beginning to flow? Congratulations to all those whose have popped and virtual prostaglandins to all those that cannot wait!

jocesar · 09/07/2008 16:17

Gillythe kid Just read your post about your birth music and had to agree that Sigur Ros is fantastic for birth. Infact today my DH put it on while he was giving some expressed milk to Santi and told me that he started crying (DH that is!)

I had some asian chill out c/d playing but I don't remember hearing any of it!

Are you planning a hypnobirth? Is it your first or have you done hypno before? Having had such an amazing birth experience I'm now rally curious to see if other hypnobirthers have had similar ones.

Poledra · 09/07/2008 16:18

Jocesar, no tips on the inverted nipple, but would sya to slap on that Lansinoh - it got me through some really sore times with dd1. It will get better - keep going with it.

Good birthing vibes to SK, RUMPEL, and all the others who're MIA

CilC · 09/07/2008 17:30

Hi all!

Jocesar please do not worry about the weight - it takes a week or so to settle, what with the extra blood and fluids you have had in your body and now the milk. Then in the next month or so it will go down with all the extra distractions etc.

Keep trying with the bf it does get better but do not beat yourself up. It is not your fault or the babies about your nipple. Lansinoh is also good, but I recommend you wipe off excess when feeding, some LO do not like the taste. My DD didn't!

I could not use a manual pump, I got the electric medula, I think you can hire them. I also found I had a lot more milk in the morning, but still kept trying (albeit with pathetic results) during the day to improve and maintain the flow.

Anyway congrats on being a new Mum. It is overwhelming and daunting, but be kind to yourself, listen to your instincts and as I said don't worry about the weight...it will sort itself out. Take care!

Minkus · 09/07/2008 18:07

Hey everyone

Only a quickie as Louis will be waking soon I think for a feed

Well done Kaz- lovely name for your lovely girl. I'm surprised she's a she too like someone else I was convinced you were getting a boy

Jodie- Sam and Louis sound the same re feeding, our mw has just been round and the little chubster has put on weight since birth instead of losing it, he's feeding so well I'm rather proud of my monstrous norks.

Jocesar my previous sentence is prob not very helpful for you- but you sound like you're doing so well, my nips have been bleeding too and so I can empathise and only say that it will get better- honest. This time round has been better but I remember with ds1 the pain and frustration (for both me and him) when the latch wasn't right and it hurt so much. Hang in there, you're doing the best you can and that is all anyone (most importantly yourself) can expect.

Am dying to write my birth story too but each time I've managed to catch up on the thread little L needs me again

And re SPD ladies, nobody said that it could start after the birth (my pelvis is buggered basically at the moment, pain started in labour and I thought it was part of contractions but no, it's SPD. It's not fair to be woken in pain at 5.30 am by your groin creaking and cracking when you expect it to be a baby waking you instead) So really feel for those of you that are experiencing it before the birth- fingers crossed it goes for you straight away as per SK's experiences.

Right that was a bigger post than I expected, off to put dinner on I'm starving!

gillythekid · 09/07/2008 18:13

Jocesar it's my first baby but I know others who've used hypnobirthing and swear by it. I'm having a homebirth but due to SPD, I'm being given the option to use the pool in the mothers suite, don't want to get my hopes up though as there's only one available. Hope the BF situation improves, perseverence is the name of the game eh?

JacobsPrincess · 09/07/2008 18:57

Has anyone got that free hypnobirthing download link from our other thread? I know I could go back and trawl through the thread, but I don't think I can be bothered, and if you've got it to hand...

sweetkitty · 09/07/2008 20:27

Hi miserable old me here again, nothing new to report had a few twinges but nothing regular, it's so frustrating I spent 4 hours last night and most of today having pains and it feels for nothing.

minkus - can't believe your SPD started in labour, poor you, my physio was saying they visit the women in the wards but as I am having a homebirth if I have any pain afterwards I can self refer to a specialist maternity physio for 6 weeks after the birth. I would ask your MW/HV or GP if you cna have something similar, you may have hurt your pelvis during labour and need a few corrections.

jocesar - agree with CliC re the weight it will settle down really soon don't worry about it very few women lose it all overnight afterall it took 9 months to get it on. Like Clic I have only ever had a electric pump so can't help with the hand one sorry. Would agree stick with the BFing though the first 3 weeks or so are rough but get through them and your home and dry.

Rumpel - have every sympathy for the stop start thing. Try not to worry about the hospital chances are you will be out in a few hours being a second timer and everyones experiences are so different.

Hope we have some news from the MIAs soon, I haven't updated the list in a few days

ButterflyMcQueen · 09/07/2008 21:15

due date almost over!
eaten cake had nails painted in a salon ( lush!!!)
no baby

Put new yes new bedding on bed tonight and mattress protector plus a puppy pad ( like an incontinence thing) between mattress protector and sheet...dont know why . In only one of my births have the waters gone naturally and then they were 'hind' and hardly a drop..

dp says tomorow busy day at work so got me off the birthing ball

tried the marital method last night which was lovely but yet again to no avail - certain its a male urban myth!

Sweetkitty poor you! I have a bit of backache but am trying to ignore all 'niggles' as with me 'niggles' are just that and the real thing very different. It is so hard though!

Wonder about hatrick and Franny?

CilC · 09/07/2008 21:15

Hang in there SK! I won't say, not long to go! Aren't you sick of people saying that??!! It does not help! If you say I have a headache etc. no one says that. They offer you sympathy! But if pregnant...

I have frankly found physios offer little relief. However they may be more helpful now that you no longer have the LO inside. I have only had one visit to the osteopath and it was the best thing ever. Also private medical insurance does cover SPD at some osteopaths.

sweetkitty · 09/07/2008 22:27

sweetkitty · 09/07/2008 22:30

pigleychez · 09/07/2008 22:39

I watched it SK....

Yeah her birth looked lovely.
Dont think i could do it alone like that though- Would like to think theres the medical attention there if needed.

Minkus · 09/07/2008 22:43

it was a bit close to recent experiences for me, made me wince to realise that is what happened to my body! Made me cry a bit, think the weepies have hit me tonight

MrMcchesers · 09/07/2008 22:58

Hi there. Mcchesers hubby here, just back from the hospital after an extremely long day. I'll let her give you the full story when she gets home, but suffice to say that baby Aidan was born this evening at about 1840, weighed 9lbs 6oz, and is just gorgeous. Mum and baby are doing fine, though she is pretty exhausted after such a long labour.

CilC · 09/07/2008 23:01

Oh wonderful news MrMcChesers! I hope the itches go away instantly so that Mrs MCChesers can now concentrate on enjoying your new little boy!
All the best!

ronshar · 09/07/2008 23:02

Sorry to crash your thread ladies. Good luck Sweetkitty Fingers crossed it all happens quickly for you.
Can I ask if anyone knows where Justjules has gone? Not seen her since last week when she had problems with her BP. I am a bit concerned as she is usually pretty regular!
It may be me worrying for no reason but it has been nearly a week.

Good luck to all of you.

ButterflyMcQueen · 09/07/2008 23:03

Mr and Mcheesers well done

CONGRATULATIONS!

what a fabulous weight cannot wait for full story!

Peanut73 · 09/07/2008 23:13

Congratulations Mcheesers family!! How wonderful!!

SK hope you have either a) a good night's sleep or b) go into labour.
xxx

AggiePanther · 09/07/2008 23:20

Congrats Mr& McChessers!!

JacobsP the website I used was this one you can pay what you like for the birth hypnosis download - even just a penny if you like or more if you're not too skint - I've got it it's pretty good.

Well I had a bit more of a show today and had strong BHs all afternoon but not regular so decided to risk a trip to the theatre to see DD1s school show. I had a few really really strong BHs while I was there and I thought 'this is it' but it's all quietened down again now. Think perhaps it was the heat in there ..was maybe a bit dehydrated ...and was prolly a bit tense, not wanting to go into labour in the middle of 'disco inferno' - so that will have made it feel worse.

Ronshar - no haven't seen justjules for a while ...hope she's okay.
