Well, I hope a lot more of us can manage to have our babies in THIS thread, even if we will probably talk our way through it well before the end of the month!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RUMPEL · 18/07/2008 14:13

Hi All,

Just a quickie as am very tired and need to go rest whilst I can - too many pages to read through just yet.

Calvin Thomas was born on Tuesday 15th at 10.05pm.
[preen]

Weighing 7lb6ozs and with bright red hair! Hes gorgeous. Just got out of hospital yesterday. DD has taken to him fairly well so far.

Hope you are all well and popping vibes to those who need them. Will catch up later - need to go sleep.

take care allxxxxx

gillythekid · 18/07/2008 14:15

Me too, if baba is a boy and born tonight I'll have to get Julio in there somewhere!
Made the mistake of weighing myself yesterday, am horrifically water retentive and puffy but my god....how much? I'm still hoping for a less than 9lb baby, a stone of fluid and a 2 stone placenta, that leaves a couple more pounds to breastfeed off and into the bikini for September, by which point the bio-oil will have obliterated all the stretch marks. If only life were like that eh? I'll be in my summer wardrobe for next summer but may have to rent a marquee till then.
Off for a bounce and a date with Denzel Washington, could be worse!

gillythekid · 18/07/2008 14:16

Oh big conrats Rumpel!

catec · 18/07/2008 14:31

Congrats Rumpel! The 15th was a productive day on here! Can't wait to see pics of red-haired Calvin.
Enjoy your movie Gilly - I really liked it.
Know what you mean with the weight gain. I am getting married in January so have 6 months to lose it all. I have always been careful with my weight and have let myself eat whatever and whenever I like during this pregnancy (I gave up smoking so replaced it with food) so will have quite a bit extra to get off!

isaidno · 18/07/2008 15:17

Congrats Rumpel - we were all wondering when you would return with an announcement!

Ponto - re increased risk of still birth - health professionals will tell you the chance of a still birth doubles after 42 weeks. This is true - the chance is 1 in 1000 before, but that only makes it 2 in 1000 after, which doesn't sound so scary.

pigleychez · 18/07/2008 15:33

Huge congratulations to Rumpel
Cant wait to see the pics.

Parents rang today to see how i am (as they do most days now) and i just burst into tears down the phone.
Think its all just getting to me now.
Tried not to get my hopes up with the show but you cant help it and seems like more disapointment.

They live about a hours drive away and have said they will come and see us tomorow. Im a daddys girl and dad said he wants to give me a big cuddle! Im 27 but still a big baby myself!

Be nice to see them and cleaning the house this afternoon has actually helped take my mind off things.

Gilly- I was doing so well with my weight too but since being overdue im afraid theres been abit of comfort eating! Dread to go on the scales!!!

sweetkitty · 18/07/2008 16:17

Rumpel - brilliant news another boy to add to the list, he shares a birthday with my little Bethany too, can't wait for the pics now

gilly - you poor thing after all that still no baby, I gave up doing anything and thats when she came

pigley - same with you, hang on in there hope the weekend makes you a mum

ponto - poor you it's such a difficult decision induction or not, on the one hand you want your baby out and you have waited long enough on the other induction yuck, I think if you have had 2 inductions you probably incubate for longer than most its the way you are, good luck whatever you decide

radiohelen - hello and welcome x

need to go update the list now

catec · 18/07/2008 16:51

Heffa also had a girl on the 15th according to her Facebook - not sure if she has been back on here since?

Libra1975 · 18/07/2008 17:18

Pigley - hope things start properly for you soon, I can't imagine how fustrating it must be.

rumpel - congratulations

For those doing hypnobirthing i think my top tip would be to practice the breathing in the position you are going to labour in, all our classes and the practice I did was either sitting down or lying down. As I knew the baby was posterior I knew I would be labouring either on all fours or kneeling over the bed (which is what I did) the breathing feels very different in these positions and I think it would have been easier to get into a rhythm if I had practiced in the positions.

minipinkscottish · 18/07/2008 19:28

Congratulations Rumpel and Heffa - well done!

It's my due date today!!!!! But Abbie is 5 weeks old Amazing to think I could still be pg.

Hang on in there everyone....wont be long now!!

min912 · 18/07/2008 19:58

congrats rumpel and heffa and everyone who has given birth since I last posted! I think every time someone else has a baby I am sloooowly moving away from envious to actually believing it will also happen for me. Eventually!

Mw unit won't do sweeps before 41 weeks so I am booked in for one next friday. Friend's wedding next Thursday, am not sure if it will be better to go a)overdue and grumpy and hacked off or b)with oh-so-just-newborn. As long as my waters don't break in the middle of the ceremony, right?

AggiePanther · 18/07/2008 21:10

Congrats Rumpel ....the 15th was a good day
Chin up pigley, gilly, min and any other overdue ladies.
Welcome radiohelen.

Have serious 'baby blues' this evening I know it's hormonal and it will pass but I feel pretty low. Finding it difficult to cope with DD2 and newborn DS at the same time and DD has only really been with me for a few hours, she's mostly been at grandmas or nursery. I feel like I want to lock myself away with little DS and just protect and feed him...then I feel bad for DD cos she's only 2 and it's a huge change in her life. I wish I could suspend time and give each of them what they need ...and then have a little sleep myself

Am worried about tomorrow as I'll have both of them on my own. How do people do it? Really worried I won't manage.

disneystar · 18/07/2008 21:41

aggiepanther i know what you mean about locking yourself away with LO
im still a bit like that we forget its an amazing change in our lives to to adapt to this baby let alone anyone else
samuel is 9 days old now and im having days of sadness and overwhelming tears of i dont know what
my dh goes back to work monday and he stays away for part of the week now im actually scared of doing it alone
how silly of me really its my 7th baby
you will be ok hun we all feel the same when we have had our babies
when we are pg we cant wait and the frustration gets you down
when they are here we face another batch of hormones dont we
just take it easy and relax it will all work out

AggiePanther · 18/07/2008 22:10

Thanks for your message ds.
I know it will be fine really and I've been expecting the blues to arrive ...but it's still horrid when you're in the middle of it isn't it
Think I'll get off to bed. Hopefully will get a little more sleep than last few nights - everything feels worse when you're tired doesn't it.

Hopefully there'll be some births to announce in the morning. Thinking of you all ladies

isaidno · 18/07/2008 22:31

Aggie - you will cope fine tomorrow; just go with the flow and relax.
I never thought I would manage the school run with a new baby, but it was fine. (Quite pleased that it's the summer hols though!)

sweetkitty · 18/07/2008 22:38

Evening ladies from the overdue thread we have anotehr 2 baby boys Franny and Zooey had a boy Lucian and Umlellala had a boy Skylar (I think) will go check and update when I can.

aggiepanther - must be the baby blues hitting us I have felt really anxious and stressed today, firstly had a nightmare with the car seats, cannot turn the airbag off in the front so B had to go in the back with DD1 in the middle, just stressed me out. Then I had to go shopping and get loads of bits, then my Mum phoned. Long story but I told her she couldn't come up tomorrow as we already have loads of visitors, she wasn't happy but it's the one day I said she couldn't visit. She will only come at weekends as thats when stepdad will drive her (it's an hour away) she says she can't afford to come on the train (she's too lazy). It's not that she will help out any she will expect lunch and tea made. Argh families. Sorry am off on one.

I was thinking the same thing today, how the hell will I cope with 3 on my own? But I remember feeling the exact same with 2, the first couple of weeks I was all over the place, how was I supposed to get two ready etc feed a baby and have a toddler? But I did it and I'm sure you will too it is daunting though I know but you gradually worl out what works and what doesn't and get into your own routine. First year is hard but once they start playing together it gets a whole lot easier I've found.

min912 and everyone else overdure hang on in there ladies this is the worst time for you, but every day is a day closer to your baby one way or another eventually we will all have our babes.

Peanut73 · 18/07/2008 22:50

Congratulations rumpel and heffa!! pigley - big hugs to you honey. sending you birthing vibes.

catec - i know what you're saying re weight. I too gave up the fags and replaced with lashings of lovely food. Ended up putting on 18kgs! Have lost 8 since the birth, but still feel fat. Too preoccupied with my darling LO though to care too much and feel it slowly melting away.

aggie - sending you hugs too. Get some sleep, you deserve it.

radiohelen · 19/07/2008 06:32

Libra - thanks for the hypnobirthing advice. I hadn't thought about breathing in the "upwards forward and mobile positions" (the yoga teacher really got that one in my head!)
For everyone who was kind enough to ask - I'm brewing a boy and I've had a really easy time of it. I've had a bit of SPD - which is now becoming harder to deal with - it just grinds you down after a while. But I've managed with my faithful tubigrip and paracetamol. Oh and in the last few weeks I've got feet like elephants if I do ANY moving around...it's ridiculous. Just ambling round the supermarket can cause them to swell up like balloons and I also get carpal tunnel in my fingers. It hasn't stopped me knitting a Debbie Bliss jumper for lo though - my first ever crafty moment (does it count as nesting?)...He'll need to be about 9 months before he can wear it though! I think my tension is out!!!!!

sweetkitty · 19/07/2008 07:28

Morning all just thought I would pop on here before the hoards get up, B is in bed snuggled up with Daddy, she got up at 12 and 2 last night then at 6.30am so not too bad. I wake up every half hour to check she's still breathing though, Mummy instinct it's like I'm never totally asleep always aware she is there.

Got loads of visitors today so shall be very busy no doubt. Going to try and pop out and get some sort of iron tablets from the chemist too.

radiohelen - I totally messed up a DebbieBliss cardigan did manage to finish a lovely pink blanket though. Can totally sympathise on the SPD I had it quite bad this pregnancy but it seems to be going away now but has left me very stiff think it's from always watching how you move, tensing yourself up and because I haven't walked very far in a while. Do you have any names chosen for your little boy?

pigley - how are you this morning, haven't heard from you in a bit?

Hope everyone else who is still pregnant is doing well.

pigleychez · 19/07/2008 07:56

Morning all,

Still here
Nothing to report.
Now a week overdue.

My parents are visiting today to cheer me up

Radiohelen- I too have been knitting. Have a Debbie Bliss book but they all look abit too complicated for me so like SK have knitted a patchwork blanket for bubba. Nothing special but i like it First attempt and all that!

SK- Glad Bethany is settling in well
Enjoy your day of visitors.

gillythekid · 19/07/2008 08:24

Hey Pigley I think we just have to accept that our babies aren't ready yet, realistically, it can't be much longer. I know it's frustrating, I'm having a hard time with the SPD, and now piles! Have a lovely day with your folks, I plan to really relax with DH this weekend and get a bit of 'us' time. I hope all the other overduers are coping well, it's a weird old time!!

mummy2bsoon · 19/07/2008 09:23

hiya all- still here...and yup im overdue!!!!

great stuffff

catec · 19/07/2008 11:14

Gilly, me too, found a ginormous pile yesterday - yuck!

Pigley - I've also been knitting. I have the second Debbie Bliss book and the stripey hat in there is super-easy - I have made loads for new baby presents. Good one to start with.

Hope some babies come this weekend!

ponto · 19/07/2008 11:33

Ok, I am 2 weeks overdue today, have told baby it's time to meet Mummy now, dds have been shouting at bump 'Come out baby!' - think that might have made it want to stay put!

Got all excited at midnight last night as I had few strong Braxton Hicks so I stayed up till 1am to see whether anything was going to happen, but as soon as I lay down there was nothing all night

Dh has taken the girls to the museum so I can have a rest, but I don't feel very relaxed as I know there's no mobile signal there - he has strict instructions to go outside every 30 minutes to check for messages.

My parents are arriving tomorrow to look after the children while I go in for induction, can't quite believe it's going to happen now. I bet this baby is another girl, it's a complete rerun of my last 2 pregnancies.

Good birthing vibes to all others still waiting, especially overdue ladies. Thanks to all those who have already 'popped' who are still posting here to encourage us and haven't completely migrated to the postnatal trhead.
