Well, I hope a lot more of us can manage to have our babies in THIS thread, even if we will probably talk our way through it well before the end of the month!

pigleychez · 16/07/2008 14:34

DH has the day off today so we have just been for a lovely long walk around the lake.
On the way back we stopped at the Harvester for lunch.. Very full now!

Shocked the life out the poor waitress when she asked when it was due... mmm 4 days ago!

Having a bounce on my ball as i type... anything to help!

ECC- Sorry your not feeling hopeful about your sweep
MW said my cervix was starting to open so you never know.

Really hope something does happen but dont want to get my hopes up!

bebejones · 16/07/2008 14:49

What age can you take babies swimming from? Is it after they have had jabs? Want to take LO swimming asap (I was not a good swimmer as a child and nearly drowned... twice!!) And a friend of mine has an 8 week old and we wanted to take them together!!

isaidno · 16/07/2008 15:17

you can take babies swimming as soon as you like, as long as the water is not too cold. Most people do wait until after jabs, but there's no need.

bebejones · 16/07/2008 15:40

ooooh, will have to find a swimsuit! Think our local pool runs special sessions, not that LO is even here yet....who knows, 2024 Olympic swimming team?!?!?!?! Thanks isaidno

EEC · 16/07/2008 16:54

Pigley - I'm bouncing on my ball too! So 4 of us waiting to see if sweep works. I do hope it does for at least one of us.

I wonder how many new LO's will come tonight.

Anyone heard from Twinkle? I hope all is well with her little boys.

Disney - thinking of you and Samuel.

JODIEhavingababy · 16/07/2008 17:10

Hi,

Just popping by to wish you all 'labour vibes' esp. you 4 who've had your sweeps!!! and anyone else who is overdue!

EEC - I was thinking about Twinkle too, I really hope the boys are OK....

So SK finally had her baby! Well done you! And everyone else who's had babies since I last posted, there are so many of you I can't keep up! but well done all you yummy mummies!!!

pigleychez · 16/07/2008 17:44

Thanks for the labour vibes everyone...

Feeling abit down tonight... Fed up of being overdue..

Under my tummy button now looks horrible as its full of stretch marks. Starting to get a few above my belly button too!
Didnt have any till the last week when i found a little one but since being overdue they are doubling by the day!

Feel like im doing something wrong or theres something wrong with me that bubbas not coming out -- Silly irrational hormonal thoughts!

Also dreading induction..Will be going in in the evening which means that DH will be sent home soon after they start the process. Hate the thought of being alone in the hospital, especially as labour will be imminent and being a first timer im scared stiff and really dont want to be alone!!

Dont really hold muc hope for the sweep working either. Have no feelings whatso ever. As DH says theres time yet, which i know but have a feeling its not going to happen.

Sorry to moan and whine on here... Hope someone understands where im coming from though.

Bebe- I too cant wait to get baby in the pool. I love swimming and want baby used to water from an early age. DH only learnt to swim a few years ago and regrets not learning sooner.

minipinkscottish · 16/07/2008 19:12

congrats Aggie - fab second stage xx

wow so many of you having sweeps - maybe there will be lots more babies tomorrow hang on in there ladies - it will all be worth it in the end

sweetkitty · 16/07/2008 20:47

Sending all you sweep ladies labour vibes, I don't think you ever fully understand unless you are overdue and desperate but it's like Jules says it's worth it.

Bethany doing really well I have forgotten how small and cute newborns are, we are all totally smitten with her, the DDs won't leave her alone. Think she is getting fed up with colostrum, need to get milk in.

I'm OK still bit sore feel this birth has taken it out of me more, fanjo is painful still, lost a stone in a day though!

Off for an early night exhausted

purplejennyrose · 16/07/2008 21:00

Bebe - are you around Dursley?? Dursley pool do a nice parent and child swim session on a fRi lunchtime -lovely warm water and lots of toys in the pool. They have good changing rooms too - cubicles with change tables and extra space etc.

AggiePanther · 16/07/2008 21:23

Okay ..looks like me and DP are agreed. It's Stanley Beau

DonutMum · 16/07/2008 21:35

Hiya, just popping on to ctach up on everyones news. So many new babies. Justjules, your post made me cry, and yay sweetkitty! Congrats to all. Will now graduate to posting updates on the new board to moan about engorgement, cracked nipples. Have to say, though I am totally in love - Logan is the most gorgeous, cuddly little bundle ever - totally divine.

ponto · 16/07/2008 22:15

Pigley, I know just how you feel about feeling as if there's something wrong with you because bubba's not coming out. It's not true, having a baby at 42 weeks is just as normal as having one at 37 weeks, your body knows what it is doing.

If you are induced, it is not necessarily terrible - the worst thing about the night I went in to be induced with dd1 was that I couldn't get much sleep as it was quite noisy, then they woke me up at 6am to give me the next pessary. So I would suggest taking earplugs or a CD/MP3 player with headphones so you can listen to something relaxing. But labour didn't start for me until the morning after I went in, it was nice and slow to start with, just like a spontaneous labour would have been I think. Still really hurt when it got going, of course, but you'll be expecting that!

Good luck. Hope you get a good night's sleep and feel more positive in the morning (or that you're woken by contractions/waters breaking! )

JacobsPrincess · 16/07/2008 23:12

Totally forgot how exhausting BF can be! Thankfully my milk is coming in now, so Dewi is feeding a bit quicker - it amazes me to hear the milk gurgling down into his tummy!

I know it's a terrible thing to say, but I wasn't that in love with him to start with. Birth was a real shock and wanted to just take care of myself at first (so glad DH was there to fuss over him!). But now I'm getting to know this funny little man who pulls strange faces and tries sucking my cheek. I think I'll keep him And tomorrow I think I want to take him out for an hour and show him off!

Any of those sweeps worked yet?
I had mine Friday morning (cervix was soft & 1.5cm dilated), had shows all weekend and things kicked off 2am Monday. By breakfast time I had a baby! Hope you overduers get good results!

JacobsPrincess · 16/07/2008 23:48

Can't get my pics uploaded onto MN profile, but I have posted a couple onto our Facebook group.

TJuice · 17/07/2008 08:24

Good luck to all those waiting. Hope the "sweeping" works out for you.

Can't wait to see all your little ones and hear about them on the postnatal group!

Soon come, soon come!!!

TJuice · 17/07/2008 08:27

Oh and Elodie Summer is doing really well. Got little fatty cheeks now and really bright-eyed. She gets a lot of attention - we were sitting outside a cafe last week and a whole bunch of people came over, including two drunkey bum-types one of whom yanked off her hat to see her hair! Most upset . . .

Good labour vibes to all.

pigleychez · 17/07/2008 09:40

Morning all,

Mummy2bsoon, EEC and ponto.... Anyones sweep seem to be having any effect? Sadly mine hasnt

DH is back at work today so another day home alone.. bored! DH did say if he wasnt so blooming busy he would just use a few days holiday untill wed (induction) then the maternity leave but typically one of this staff has left unexpectedly so double the work for him!

Love the photos Jodie- Hes Georgeous!

Glad Elodie is doing well

ponto · 17/07/2008 10:11

No change here pigley - to be honest I have little faith in sweeps as I had 2 or 3 for dd1 and dd2 and still had to be induced (but other people assure me that they work!) Have had a further show last night but I think it's been pointed out before that a show can be up to 2 weeks before labour starts! No way am I going to nearly 44 weeks!

EEC · 17/07/2008 10:41

Aggiepanther - LOVE the name Beau.

Pigley - I know exactly how you feel about feeling your body doesn't work properly. I know logically it's mad, but logic doesn't come into it at this stage. Also about the stretch marks. Nothing til 39 weeks then, hey Presto - here they come!

Jacobsprincess - It's really great to be so honest - there will be others of us who don't 'fall in love' straight away, and it will really help to know we are not alone. It's quite common I think. I had such a long hard labour with DS that I found the beginning really hard to cope with.

Mummy2bsoon, pigley, ponto - Nothing to 'show' here from the sweep other than slight brownish discharge this morning, and lots of v uncomfy BH last night, along with terrible backache. Nothing this morning though other than backache, but that is constant not matched with contractions so I think it's just backache!

mummy2bsoon · 17/07/2008 11:05

hmm i got excited, i started getting period type pains..and i had to move to get comfortale, and then BANG! it went away!!!

nothing since then...sitting on gym ball...

Poledra · 17/07/2008 11:06

Same post as on overdue thread - to fed up and miserable to write something more positive - sorry

Aaaarrrrgh! Now officially overdue by 1 day, called hospital as instructed at 6am this morning. When they found out I was not having any contractions etc, told me they were very busy and please call back at 8.30am. So after a couple of hours fitful dozing, called back at 8.30, when the dayshift mw said Oh, we thought you weren't calling in till 6pm. We're still too busy, call us back at midday. And if we're still too busy, you can come in for assessment then go home again. Yeah right! I'm up for induction because of histoincompatability with the baby you silly woman, not because I am very overdue. So I don't really see that assessment is going to do me much good, unless you're planning on doing a doppler scan on me to check for anaemia of course.

Whine whine whine. Only possible sign was the small sneeze in my gusset when I went to the loo this morning - not enough to be called a show, I've seen my toddler produce more mucus without any effort at all.

JODIEhavingababy · 17/07/2008 11:26

Ahh ladies, no babies in the night????? Full moon must have been and gone!

They will all be here soon, you can't possibly be pregnant forever (although I bet it doesn't feel that way at the minute!!!) I suggest and lovely hot bath, put your feet up, watch abit of crap tele, and eat a whole chocolate cake to yourself! It will be one of the last chances you get!!!!!
