Well, I hope a lot more of us can manage to have our babies in THIS thread, even if we will probably talk our way through it well before the end of the month!

congrats butterfly and jacobsprincess. I love the name Dewi - I've got a bit of Welsh in me!

justjules - pics are lovely xx

Where is Rumpel??

libralady · 15/07/2008 22:26

Just uploaded some more photos and am now off to catch up on the thread!

Polyxene · 15/07/2008 22:36

CONGRATULATIONS Jacobs and Butterfly!!!

Sympathy to Poledra and anyone else fed up of waiting.

Jacobs - I know what you mean about being cross it was too quick for stronger meds - I had wanted an epidural with DS1 and they said "too late!" So I delivered him (9lb 5oz) on just TENS. BUT, this time round I made sure to get an epidural, but it didn't go in properly and then didn't completely work, so I'm not sure that was the best thing to have done after all. So you never know! Anyway, you can certainly impress people with your story!

Disney - ah, love, you and family have been through so much. You really don't have to "be positive" for us lot - you get to come here and moan as much as you like to let it all out!

Jules - lovely pics! I bet it feels good being able to write "DD" Little Eleanor is such a darling, and another one with lots of hair!

Well done due date buddy Aggie! Not far behind me in the end!
And love the name Stanley.
Lots of speedy deliveries on here Ladies. Well done all of you new Mummies, and HURRY UP to all those late babies!

EEC · 16/07/2008 07:27

Late baby here trying to hurry up. Off for a sweep later, but by the sounds of they don't really make a difference. Lots of Congrats to Jacobspricess, Butterfly and Aggiepanther. Great stories, great names.

Quick question. What does everyone take for afterpains and what dosage? Do they give you a prescription or is it OTC stuff? I can't remeber what I took last time.

pigleychez · 16/07/2008 07:55

Congrats, Aggie!

Still here, still nothing. I'll be phoning into the delivery suite for my induction tomorrow morning I guess. And you know what else - I bet, after all my moaning, I'll be disappointed if they tell me they haven't got space for me......

AggiePanther · 16/07/2008 11:38

Wow - what a busy couple of days!! Congratulations JacobsP (beat me to it!)Butterfly, hubarspong and sweetkitty (wow we were close - and both moaning about 'nothing happening' earlier that day)
Gilly - I managed to update my facebook status on my mobile from the labour ward - hows that for dedication
Good luck to you and all the other ladies in waiting. Have discovered that you can go from feeling miserable cos this baby just aint coming to having a baby in your arms within a very short time!

Well will tell you my tale briefly. Went to bed about midnight - had been feeling some pressure down below - (which I guess must have been Staney's head engaging) but wasn't too excited cos I'd felt it before only to wake up with nothing. DP came to bed about 1 am and I woke up. About 1.15 I started to get mild period pains - they came about every 10 mins for 30 mins then got stronger and closer together and I knew things were definitely happening - and how. Called DPs parents (to come over to babysit)at about 2.20. By the time they arrived at 2.50 I was on my hands and knees by the front door with around a minute to 2mins between contractions. Got into the van (luckily we have a camper so lots of room to kneel in the back) and mooed all the way to the hospital 10 mins away.
In hospital was sick as soon as I arrived and contractions coming faster still. Gas and air helped only a little and I asked about epidural as I didn't feel I could cope for much longer with the frequency and intensity of the contractions. Had an internal at 4am and was 7cms! Didn't know if I could cope if the last 3 cms took 3 hours so asked for epidural anyway and so they got me sitting on the side of the bed. They tried about 5 times to get it in but my contractions were coming so often that they kept missing/stopping. I was just about to say 'forget it' when I felt 'pressure' and then wanted to push. So they packed up their needles and the mw had a look and could see the head. With the next contraction he crowned, the next his head was out and one more delivered his body. A 4 minute second stage and Stanley arrived at 4.47am - weighing 8lbs 15ozs.
(I'm so glad they couldn't get that needle in - if I'd known it would be over that quickly I wouldn't have bothered asking) Had a small tear that just needed 1 stitch - because his bottom shoulder came out first or something.
It was the fastest, most intense and painful but the most incredibly amazing and wonderful birth I've had.

He fed pretty much straight away then slept most of yesterday. They kept me in till teatime (to make sure I didnt haemorrhage cos I can't have ergometrine) then we came home and the DDs came back from their grandparents. DD1 (13) is an old hand at babies now and was suitably besotted and DD2 (2) was very pleased with her baby brother and wanted to feed him pretzels
We're deciding on a middle name this afternoon (as DP changed his mind at the last minute) so will update you later.

I'll try to upload some pics to my profile now.

Phew!!

Oh by the way did I tell you he's gorgeous and I love him

pigleychez · 16/07/2008 11:40

Hi all,
Well back from the hospital.Long story but bit of a mix up and i ended up at the wrong hospital!

The local hospital has had its maternity servises closed and everything has been moved to the larger hospital 30 mins away. Had a nightmare rush hour trip there only to be told this clinic is still being held at the old local hospital - Typical!

Anyhow... missed our appointment so when we got back to our local hospital had to wait for about an hour!

Eventually got to have the sweep. Wasnt too bad but slightly uncomfortable.
Just got in and noticed abit of a show so fingers crossed something will happen soon.

If nothing happens at all ( apart from me going stir crazy!) im booked in to go in Tuesday pm for induction.
Hoping not to have to get that far though!!!

Hope everyone else is well!

EEC · 16/07/2008 12:11

Poor you Pigley re wrong hospital trip. I'm just back from my sweep too but am not hopeful as was told that cervix not yet favourable . mw said it could be the trigger that starts it off, but thinks not. Also Baby is posterior again. [scream emoticon]. Good luck for you though Pigley - hope it works!

mummy2bsoon · 16/07/2008 12:37

happy due date to me, went hospital, gave me a sweep, told em to come back in 12 days for induction, another sweep in 7 days...

hjow effective are they?

purplejennyrose · 16/07/2008 13:51

Good luck Pigley - and welcome more babies!

bebejones · 16/07/2008 14:07

Seems like everytime I 'check in' there are more and more babies!!

Good Luck Pigley fingers crossed it all kicks off before Tuesday!!!

Feeling really weepy today, think I am just overtired after my domestic goddess routine yesterday...even managed to make a huge chocolate cake!! Plus LO has done some massive wriggling over night and this morning (lets hope she has properly flipped back round the right way!) Had a couple of strong BH this morning, but nothing since. DH got very excited and keeps ringing to check if anything is happening, but since I still have 15 days til EDD I doubt it very much!! DH has the next 2 days off work so am hoping she doesn't come just yet as will be nice to potter around together just us for a few days, he has been so busy lately! Annoyingly the plan was to do the garden but the weather looks like it may have other ideas!!!!

ponto · 16/07/2008 14:28

Mummy2bsoon and Pigleychez - I had my second sweep yesterday morning and have been having a further show since yesterday evening, but still no contractions. Apparently 50% of women will go into labour within 48 hours of a sweep so hopefully one of us will manage it (ideally all 3 of us!)

I am feeling resigned to induction on Sunday, which at least gives me something new to tell people when they ask.
