Well, I hope a lot more of us can manage to have our babies in THIS thread, even if we will probably talk our way through it well before the end of the month!

MINNIE1 · 14/07/2008 16:42

Hi all

sweetkitty
No baby yet!! aghhhh waiting game is soooo annoying.. Up the walls here trying to do things and DDs know yourself. Dp is sick as his tablets have been doubled and are making him tired and sick all the time. Understand what you are saying about your DP, drives me mad when mine is under my feet.. I have to get out of the house on a Sunday when DP is home.. Otherwise we would kill each other.. I have him tucked in bed or send him to the site office out of my way

Had a wonderfull nights sleep on the sofe (NOT) last night. Went from bed to sofa and back to bed only to sofa again.. Bump is so uncomfi it really need to come out...

Many congrads to all the new arrivals so glad all are here and safe..

sweetkitty · 14/07/2008 16:50

It's utterly rubbish isn't it Minnie, sorry to hear your DP is poorly again as well, poor you and him.

Fingers crossed next couple of days x

disneystar · 14/07/2008 16:55

bebejones just to say gloucester is manic at the moment they have 9 delivery rooms and understaffed
when i was there last week i was up on lambourne ward waiting for over 3 hours 50 mins to get on the delivery ward i was in established labour to and 3cms dilated i had to really shout at them in then end to listen and we asked to be transferred to chelt
when i was on the delivery ward ladies were coming in in labour and being transfered to chelt as glos had no rooms left
where are you booked in for as i really suggest not gloucester,
i feel sorry for you guys still waiting it must be so worse now as the time is going on and reading all these birth announcements,

going to read all the post tonight and catch up

libralady · 14/07/2008 16:57

Congratulations to all those that have had their babies, sorry can't remember all the names individually.
Pigley - fantastic bump.
Commiserations to those overdue and those wanting it all over with. I can sympathise.
Can't believe that Luke so three weeks old today.
Well he had the snip on Friday and it all went well, although I didn't like seeing him distressed (albeit for approximately a minite and not from the procedure, but by being swaddled - he doesn't like being contained!!!) Small amount of blood and then the MWs tried to get him to latch onto my boob but he was having none of it. Ended up with a lovely bloody boob afterwards.
Have perservered trying him on the breast all weekend but he just doesn;t want to know, and now my milk seems to be slowing down, even though I am still expressing. I'm lucky if I can get 25ml out at a time from both boobs. Think Luke is going through a growth spurt now as he was cluster feeding this morning from 6am and couldn't get him settled until gone 11.30. During this time he had 14 oz of a mixture of mine and formula milk. He's had another 5ox this afternoon! DH wants me to give up on the expressing as I am so knackered and have been extremely crabby and snappy this weekend. Doesn;t help with the fact that he's been away all week, I've been dealing with 2 children on very little sleep and he buggers off to play cricket on both Saturday and Sunday. I only went to cricket on both days otherwise the boys would not have seen Daddy again. And he was off again first thing this morning hopefully returning on Wednesday night.
Spent yesterday morning preparing the match teas for 25 people! I don't care if DH is captain next year, I am not doing the bloody food next season.

Sorry rant over.

minipinkscottish · 14/07/2008 17:08

Please dont forget us overduers and late julyers.

If you all disappear to the other thread we will get very bored!

Please post on both

sweetkitty · 14/07/2008 18:02

I was second last off my last antenatal thread (wails and sobs)

Have cheered myself up today by ordering some baby clothes in 3-6 months although if she doesn't hurry up she will be going straight into them.

libralady - glad Luke's op went well but about the breastfeeding. The thing is bottle feeding is a lot easier than BFing for babies they don't need to work at it so much so they seem to prefer it and don't want to BF straight from the source. I think if you do want to continue (and no one is saying you should expressing is a nightmare and very tiring) maybe speak to tiktok on here or phone up La Leche League for some advice on boosting your supply and trying to get him more interested in the breast. You have both been through so much with the tongue tie you must be shattered and DH men eh??!!

Peanut73 · 14/07/2008 18:02

Just posted on new thread.
xx

Choccie75 · 14/07/2008 19:13

Hi Everyone and congratulations to the new mums, i know i haven't posted in ages but have been lurking!

I am now 11 days past my due date (was actually 3rd July not 7th) and was booked in for induction today. I really didn't want to be induced so was glad when hopsital was too busy to start me off and asked me to come back in the afternoon. DH and i came home and called but they were still busy so thought stuff it lets wait until tomorrow.

Ha ha they just called me and want me to go back now for induction i told them i will go back tomorrow as don't want to be labouring in the hospital overnight! They are calling me back!

I so wanted to labour at home and only go in when absolutely necessary! Any advice anyone?

pigleychez · 14/07/2008 19:21

Blimey choccie....11 days! Im going up the wall and im 2 days overdue!

I understand about Labouring at home, think thats what id rather do too.
Suppose the reason they might want you to come in now is if they are booked up for tomorow too.

Hope things work out with the hospital...

Polyxene · 14/07/2008 19:23

Hmmn, well I guess I'll try keeping up with two threads then, but I'm definitely going to keep posting on the antenatal thread as long as it is still going. I know I have my baby now but I know how awful it was going overdue both times, and how much it helped this time having lots of people here to talk to!

CONGRATULATIONS to Cass, DonutMum and ichef!!! (hope I haven't forgotten anyone)

Aw, lovely pictures from those that have posted them! Really nice to see all the babies. (I'll have to try to get a bit more familiar with the technology and try to make a profile and post pics myself.) Lovely to see so many gorgeous pics of little Kez, and my goodness Disney and ichef, what handsome boys with so much hair!

Pigley - I got really into jigsaws when first diagnosed with ME: a nice non-strenuous activity that was absorbing enough to be distracting without being too mentally taxing! I found that charity shops are a great source of cheap jigsaws, usually complete or very nearly so.

GOOD LUCK Libra1975!

Sympathies to the overdue crew, THOUGH...

...are you sure you want this???? ARGH!!! Wilfie decided he wanted to feed constantly from 7.30 yesterday evening to 5.00am this morning! Good grief. Of course today he has had at least two hour gaps between each feed - I've been trying to grab naps, though I'm still feeling rather like death warmed over. I do hope he can start sorting out day and night soon. It has been easier up till now as first my parents and then my parents-in-law were here so they could look after DS1, but they've all gone home now so we're on our own. I rather dread the thought of being awake till 5.00am again, and then being woken up by a lively DS1 wanting to play...

gillythekid · 14/07/2008 19:25

Poor you, Choccie! Can you ask for a scan to check baby is in the right position? This is what I plan to do as I, like you I think, I'd rather not be induced. You can request continual monitoring, depending how fed up you are! I'm a first timer so can't speak from experience but know a lot of women who've held out till 43 weeks+ with no problems, this whole 'due date' thing is a bit of a laugh really! (it's mine today but no action, surprise, surprise!) Good luck.

EEC · 14/07/2008 19:26

Congrats Ichef. Lovely bubba.

Pigley - not seeing mw til 10.30 so you have a head start there.

Choccie - hope LO arrives tonight naturally. You never know!

I sooo want to get onto that new thread, but think I will resist looking at it for now ...

My cold has now turned into a cough and my stomach muscles (what stomach muscles?) are agony. Why does it have to happen now? I have visions of coughing through contractions, and not being able to breath through them. Aagh!

purplejennyrose · 14/07/2008 20:05

Hey all, just popping in quickly - congrats to all new mummies!!
bebejones - stroud was fab. i'm afraid i would second what disney has said re glos. i would book into stroud - if you do have to transfer to glos it would be treated as 'emergency' so you would get better treatment - that's what happened to me first time, delivery staff were excellent. But glos is a busy, crowded hospital. At stroud you'll get loads of support with breastfeeding, lots of care (there are only 9 beds on the ward) a single room if you want - and they bring you hot chocolate last thing at night! I was so so glad i went back as even second time round I had wobbly moments, usually at 3am, and the MWs just come in and sort you out - one even made me a cuppa at 3.30am!
FWIW, chelt where I had section was very busy but still a very good standard of care.
Sorry really slagged off glos there - there are good staff there, they're just overwhelmed.
Right my gorgeous babe has been crashed out for a few hours but just stirring - going off to feed her now, see if i can get enough milk in her to get a decent night - we had a 4 hour stretch of sleep last night!!

sweetkitty · 14/07/2008 20:23

choccie - hello again sorry to hear you are overdue it is the absolute pits isn't it? If everything else fails I will probably be induced at 12 days overdue could hold out until 14 but there are other factors like how much time DP has taken off work etc before the birth it could end up he has 2 weeks annual leave followed by 2 weeks paternity leave so off for a whole month, his boss has been very good though. I also think by my dates I will be 14 days over as well and with the SPD I think I will have done enough. I will be dreading it as well though I have all the kit here for a homebirth and I absolutely detest hospitals.

polyxene - unfortunately sounds like a newborn feeding pattern to me, I think after a few days sleeping off the birth they go into a feeding frenzy probably linked to mass stimulating milk production or something. It will calm down though.

Libra1975 · 14/07/2008 22:14

Hello all, Libra's DH here.

Had an interesting day - contractions got closer through the night, and when they were 3 mins apart we headed off to hospital at about 11 this morning.

Got there, had a quick chat with MW who gave the spiel about first babies, slow 1st stage, not to be disheartened if things weren't very far on etc...did the abdominal exam, said the head felt nice and low, then did the internal. Went a bit quiet. Smiled, popped out of room, came back with O+G reg and US machine in tow.

Turns out the little bugger was breech. AND footling presentation. AND darling L had made it to 8cm dilated at home with nothing but tea and paracetamol.
So within 30 mins of arrival, we were in theatre for an emergency LSCS.

All went very smoothly, and Alexander Philip was born at 12.35, weighing 7lb 5oz. Mum and baby doing well.

Good luck to all those yet to come...
