Well, I hope a lot more of us can manage to have our babies in THIS thread, even if we will probably talk our way through it well before the end of the month!

Min912 - I did swaddling and nappy practice this morning on cuddly snowman with DD this morning! She got really excited, and prcticed with the sling too!

Have been having niggles on and off since 10, but have stopped now - Oh well - should take a leaf out of SK and Butterfly's books and just go with the flow. not actually due til tomorrow anyway, but really thought this one would be early.

SilverSixpence · 12/07/2008 13:31

hi everyone, just to let you know i'm back home, had my baby yesterday afternoon, after an 11 hour labour. Waters went at 3am and started having regular strong contractions 5 mins apart almost straight away! by 7 they were getting quite bad even with tens on so called the delivery suite and was told to come up. By then time we got there at 8am contractions were 2-3 mins apart. They checked me at 9 and i was already 7cm! after 4 hours with just gas and air (and amazingly no begging for an epidural!) i was ready to push and delivered at 2.17pm. we did get a bit of a shock when we looked and realised it was actually a BOY - we have no clothes for him at all now apart from white vests and sleepsuits as his pink dresses and babygrows will sadly have to be donated to someone else

He is gorgeous tho, v sleepy still and having some problems with feeding, but it seems to be getting better. i had a second degree tear which is giving me some pain but nothing unbearable. Good luck to everyone else and hope ur babies come soon!

isaidno · 12/07/2008 13:46

Well done Silversixpence!
Did they tell you he was a girl at the scan?!!

Boys are lovely, but they don't suit pink!

sweetkitty · 12/07/2008 13:53

wow congratulations silversixpence, sounds like a good labour for a first, just realised you were expecting a girl, must have been a shock for you, were you told at a scan you were having a girl?

So you don't have any boys names chosen then? Any ideas yet?

butterfly - Monday it is then CLiC is having her section then as well I believe, has she been back on since her scare?

I'm really bored today been to the park and fed the ducks but fed up now.

AggiePanther · 12/07/2008 14:22

congrats sixpence! what a surprise for you

gillythekid · 12/07/2008 15:00

Well done and congratulations to silversixpence what a shock, just shows you they don't always get it right. Been in lots of pain with SPD today, trying to nap but can't, have period type pains, praying this is the beginning.

AggiePanther · 12/07/2008 17:57

fingers crossed for you gilly

minipinkscottish · 12/07/2008 18:00

Congratulations Purplejenny and silversixpence - well done xx

Flamesparrow · 12/07/2008 18:54

Just sticking my head in to say that I saw LilytotheB yesterday - she is looking fabulous (and pregnant ), but having internet connection issues.

MINNIE1 · 12/07/2008 19:00

silversixpence
Congrads WOW a boy just shows you that they can get it wrong!! Never heard of it happening anyone i knew..

SK
Na dont think she will, your 2 DDs will show her the ropes and you will have 2 little helpers. My DDs get on great (except the odd fight) i love watching the play, make it all worth while. Did you get DD2 potty trained? Still in nappys here!!

Went shopping and DDs were good, came home to find DP in bed. He is not feeling at all well. His tablets were upped a level and seem to be making him tired and sick. So have him, DDs and me just about to pop. Would'nt have it any other way..
Tommorw would be a good day to go into labour...

RUMPEL · 12/07/2008 19:04

Hi All,

I am still here but have been such a misery guts the past few days I haven't posted.

Congrats to all you new MUmmies forgotten who now as so many in the last few days.

DISNEY - glad little Sam and you are both well and at home.

Hope Luke's tongue tie wasn't too distressing.

My Mum has been an absolute Godsend as she has been looking after DD. I never felt this huge and unconfy with DD - I honeslty feel like my belly is oging to rupture!

Poor Dh is on red alert and keep swaking up and I just cannot sleep for more than 2 hours.

Feel really sorry for all you people gpone past your due dates - I am not actually officially due until next Sunday but just cannot imagine going that far as I cannot walk or do anything and my belly is really sore now.

Sorry for miserable me, me post.

Went into town with Mum and DD on Thursday to walk lots and try to get things going - managed to get DD 8 pairs of Clark's shoes (saving £111) in the sales - she only had 1 pair that fitted and I was conscious of the fact I might not be able to get in for a while. So DD is very happy - she has big wide feet so need to buy good shoes. Plus MUm has been spoiling her with lovely new clothes too. Mum bought me a couple of nice tops for post bubba too - probably only take me 3 years to shift this cake weight to fit into them

Anyway I hope you are all well enjoying babies, popping soon, nipples healing and fingers crossed we all go soon and have good deliveries.xxx

ButterflyMcQueen · 12/07/2008 19:38

rumple 8 pairs???????

silversixpence wow a boy - how bizarre was that?

glad the delivery went well you must be very proud of yourself

Mummywannabe · 12/07/2008 19:58

Hi all

Well Max was born at 5.08am on Thursday 10th! After awful few days of contractions on and off, went in when they were 5 mins apart and told to go home til 3 mins apart, 24 hours later they were back down to 10 mins apart but very paunful. At midnight an massive pop and water gone, told to go in. By the time we go there (5 minutes by car) contractions every 2 1/2 minutes.

Max born 5 hours later. I have to say the labour bit was easier than the 3 days of stop start contractions before and was honestly not as bad as i thought. Max was distressed so had to have ventouse but to be honest didn't notice episiotomy or tear. A little sore now but again not as bad as i thought.

Feeding was very rocky to start and he had to be cup fed and bottle fed formula to get him strong enough to interested in feeding, but we have seemed to have got the hang of it now.

Right off to feed him and then get some sleep!

Haven't read posts but congratulations to anyone else who has popped! Will try to get back on tomorrow to catch up!

ButterflyMcQueen · 12/07/2008 20:09

wow you star mummywannabe - you sound very calm and brave!

well done - Max is a lovely name

You need to update us sk we seem very boy heavy!

AggiePanther · 12/07/2008 20:38

Congrats mummywannabe!!!! - will you be changing your name now

isaidno · 12/07/2008 20:48

Congrats mummywannabe!
Rumpel - we all thought you'd been birthing not shopping!

Where is pigleychez?

JODIEhavingababy · 12/07/2008 20:55

Well done everyone, More babies by the day, how exciting! And beautiful names too!

Twinkle Hope you and the twins are OK?

Someone asked about breast/bottle confusion, Can't remember who, but I asked the MW about it yesterday (I want to introduce a bottle sooner rather than later) and she says straight away. Apparantly Indian women think that the Colostrum is 'poison' so they botle feed until the milk comes in, and none of them have any issues!

Also someone mentioned about pregnancy brain staying after the event too, well mine has, BUT I managed to watch Countdown yesterday and actually 'won' a couple of rounds! I haven't managed that since October!!!!!

Rumple just wanted to say that I've seen you picture on Facebook, and you look amazing!

Anyway, Sam is doing amazingly well, considering I had real problems feeding Oliver and ended up giving up very early on, Sam is a breeze, it no longer hurts I think thats all down to smothering myself wih Lansinoh! Thanks girlies for the tip! He was 6 lbs 11 ozs born, and he dropped to 6llbs 8ozs, he is now a thriving 6lbs 15! I've even been out all day today and BF twice in public!!!!! WOW I'm so brave

I'm also feeling quite sentimental today, Soppy alert! I want to thank all of you for all of your great advice and support during the last nine months (And hopefully beyond!) You have all been amazing and I hope we all continue to support each other in the Post-natal thread that we'll start soon!

Sorry for long post, and sorry if I've missed anything, but it does take a while to catch up you gas bags! And by the time I have I've forgotten everything!! Might need to make notes!

sweetkitty · 12/07/2008 20:58

wow another baby boy congratulations on the borth of Max mummywannabee sounds like it wasn't too bad, well done you and you will have to change your name too.

Rumpel - really thought you had gone this time poor you sorry you are feeling rough this waiting really is the pits. 8 pairs of shoes my DDs have about 3 each. Glad your Mum is with you and helping too.

Minnie - no DD2 is not potty trained I gave up too just didn't have the energy I suppose I could have got her to do it with a bit of perseverence but couldn't be bothered really. Am hoping once the baby is here and she sees her being changed she might decide she's too big for nappies and potty train herself.

Anyone else not wanting to go on the 13th? Don't know why don't want the baby to have a Friday the 13th birthday in the future. Also DP is dragging his heels about her middle name, I want Grace he isn't sure and said he will discuss it after she is born but I think thats stupid as when we do the birth announcement thing do we say oh her name is Bethany but we don't have a middle name or do we say we are still deciding on two names? We thought it would be nice to name her after DP's sister but then her initials would be BJ can't do that to her can we? Oh he drives me mad sometimes.

sweetkitty · 12/07/2008 21:02

isaidno - oops didn't notice lack of posting from pigley, excited now

jodie - great news about Sam well done you, on the breast/bottle thing DD1 had bottles at the start as she was too jaundiced to feed, she had bottles for about 4 days then breast then bottle top up and eventually after about 2 weeks went to all breast but I kept about 2 bottles a week and all was fine. DD2 had the odd bottle of EBM from about 3-4 weeks no problem but then again I think DD2 would have drank milk out a rusty old bucket bless her.

Off to add the two new boys to the list

Phew, I think I've just about caught up with the thread since Weds am. Let's see:

CONGRATULATIONS to - (deep breath in) - mcchesers, excited, disney, purplejenny, silversixpence and mummywannabe!!!

Sympathy to ponto and other overdue folk - I quite understand what you mean about being of people going first who were due after you. Every single day of the week over I went felt like at least a fortnight!

At least I managed in my personal goal of having my baby while I was still 'only' 37 - it is my birthday tomorrow! (yes, sweetkitty, I have a birthday on the 13th, and to be honest it never bothered me, I quite liked having a 'special' sort of number for my birthday. ) My parents have been staying for a few days to help with DS1, bless them, and my brother and SIL came over so we had a little 'party tea' combo celebration for my birthday and to welcome Wilfie, but it all felt a little bit surreal thinking about my birthday after just being focused on the baby for so long!

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well, good luck to anyone who wants their baby tomorrow, and holding-off vibes to those who don't!

yep they told us at the scan it was going to be a girl - he still doesn't have a name yet because we didn't even think of any boys' names!

had about twenty relatives over today - good thing my mum and mother-in-law took over all the cooking so all i had to worry about was the baby - so there are advantages to huge asian families after all also they have added to his clothes collection which is great.

ponto · 12/07/2008 23:12

Congratulations silversixpence and mummywannabe! Hope you are getting used to not having a girl, SS, must feel a bit odd.

I'm feeling a bit more positive today having had a show last night . I became convinced things were going to start off and have been rushing round all day trying to make sure the house is straight. But no contractions, just a few strongish BH. I feel that having had a show at 41 weeks, I would be unlucky not to go into labour by myself in the next week, so hopefully will avoid induction this time. I don't care about baby having a birthday on the 13th, I just want it to come out! It would be funny if it did come tomorrow, as it would have been my parents 40th wedding anniversary (had they not divorced 23 years ago!)
