hana, I had a wilkinet, but found it really difficult to tie up on my own and never did it. Planning on getting my African friends to show me how to 'back' a baby when it's a little older. When small I would like one like sparkle that enables you to feed and walk around.

lacka, apparently the milk increases with each baby (according to doctor, tho not sure I trust them 100%!) - which is maybe why you had oversupply with dd and not ds. i was getting a little worried this time if it was going to be even more than last time as it was actually a lot more difficult than coping with the baby (and i didn't have mnet for advice either)! hoping twins will solve oversupply problem for me (pleeeeeeease). Would still really like to express a)so dh/ my mum can do some night feeding and b) so they get used to a bottle and breast (ds wouldn't take a bottle after a couple of months and it was a real struggle to get him onto it).

oblomov, i never hand expressed, couldn't do that, but did use hand pump usually just to pump off excess milk so ds could latch on, although in early days before supply got ridiculous I used to express a bottle a day for my mum to give a late 11pm feed, which worked brilliantly.

vbab, that sounds like a lovely trip. what a treat! my sister got married in York, and I began a love affair there a few years earlier so got fond memories of the place.

i am all out front too at the moment.

Yorky · 06/07/2008 09:26

I love York, haven't been to the rail museum for years, the museum of automata was always my favourite - clockwork toys and slot machines. Congratulations on your anniversary, have a lovely time.
Hanaflower - where, how much when is the sling show? It sounds really useful as I am thinking of hands free baby wearing/feeding so DS can still have attention etc

bubbaz · 06/07/2008 09:33

Congrats on your wedding aniiversary Yorky, hope you have a good one.
Hanaflowerisnothana well done on the falt and the Doula its nice to get some good news!
I was thinking of almost exclusively feeding with expressed milk this time. I struggled to do it discreetly with DS and never felt very comfortable around anyone other than DH which I know was wrong but was also def my hang up not theirs!
We made the races yesterday and it poured down but we were ina marquee so I wasn't too fussed. We lost more than we won but didn't get in until 2AM and had a fab night.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

bubbaz · 06/07/2008 09:36

Oops I mean Congratulations on your Anniversay Vbab - It must be the late night getting to me

LolaBella · 06/07/2008 09:49

Have a lovely wedding anniversary Vbab - i love in York so i am biased but it is a very beautiful city.

I'v just had my two litle nephews for the day yesterday and the night and my god it's hard work!!! One is nearly two and the other is five months I'm knackered and i'v only done a day. Not sure i'v thought this baby lark through

bubbaz · 06/07/2008 09:55

Lollabella its a bit late for that you will be fine!!

misdee · 06/07/2008 10:28

SCAN TOMORROW!

cant wait! am very excited.

lackaDAISYcal · 06/07/2008 11:57

lolabella.....they aren't born as toddlers.....that stage grows on you gradually, by which time you will be equipped to cope...well that's the theory anyway

hope you have a lovely break vbab . I don't get to York often enough; it's a lovely city.

woohoo misdee...are you finding out which flavour?

That's interesting about supply increasing with each baby MM. There is some good advice on kellymom about oversupply though as well as on here from the likes of the lovely tiktok. there are also lots of twin feeders so I'm sure of you need advice, you'll find it here

I am bloody knackered. Walked for five miles on Friday and then i was on my feet for over five hours at the school fete yesterday. My ankles were so puffed up you could see the pattern from my socks, never mind the ribbing at the top and it's all aggravated my dodgy sacro-iliac joint so my hip has seized this morning (I thought was giving me a break this pregnancy )

....those are my excuses for still being in my jammies on the sofa anyway

ceebee74 · 06/07/2008 12:52

Afternoon all

Lolabella - lol at realising now that just how hard work babies are (say it quietly though as Chocorange is still in denial ). But Lacksa is right - we had my nephew to stay for a day and a night when he was about 3 and me and DH were shattered - but dealing with DS is fine because it is a gradual thing! Plus when it is your own child, you don't feel the constant need to entertain them etc

Vbab - have a lovely evening - am v as I would love a night away but it ain't going to happen!!

Bubbaz - sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday although I am sure you would have had more fun had you been able to tuck into the booze that was no doubt knocking around

Misdee - good luck for tomorrow - I am sure you said you were going to find out the flavour no?

Only 5 more 'sleeps' until mine I keep having to remind myself that the scan is to check for anomalies, not to find out the sex - I need to get myself more prepared!! Plus, I think the scan will be longer than normal as DS was born with a congenital digestive condition that required an op to fix it so they are going to check this baby out for that now.

Right, got to go to the garage to provide some paperwork for my new car - should be picking it up next weekend if all goes to plan - yeah!!

Hope you are all having a good weekend

x

sparkletoes · 06/07/2008 12:52

Hi all!

Vbab my DS is exactly the same when we go out! He is fine when it is just me but as soon as DH & I take him out he really plays up.

If anyone has any jems they use I am all ears! We tend to try the basics - make sure he is not tired/hungry & keep trips short!

It is our anniversary on Tue will need to get something organised we haven't been out in ages! Agree if u can't treat yourselves once in a while...

Yay Misdee, await your report back after scan!

Sorry to hear of your hip probs Lacks, my back is quite sore as I pulled a muscle on fri night.. Annoying but at least my sinuses are starting to clear up completely - the menthol crystal really helped Dozy!

lackaDAISYcal · 06/07/2008 13:36

I'm convinced stores put something in the air curtain over the door sparkletoes, as DS turns into the Tasmanian Devil every time we go in a shop

DD awake...better go and get her some lunch

sparkletoes · 06/07/2008 13:54

That sounds very likely Lacks! It gives DS a complete personality change, DH also gets more het up over the matter and we often end up doing a walk of shame back out of the shop (DH pushing DS at speed in direction of the exit!)

Just curious, is DD any better at shopping?

Didn't notice ur post before Ceebs, hope the scan goes ok this week ... will be thinking of u and await the news on the flavour/colour!!

OP posts:
sparkletoes · 06/07/2008 13:56

Oooh that sounds bad I mean pushing DS in his buggy towards the exit not physically man-handling the wee guy!!!

OP posts:
ceebee74 · 06/07/2008 14:03

Lol Sparkletoes at tyour DH manhandling DS out of the shop I find my DS is pretty much ok with shopping as long as it is kept short and I avoid going anywhere with Thomase the Tank Engine toys etc

Maybe it is our DH's as mine also gets very stressed and frustrated when DS gets in a mood/tantrum and usually ends up giving into him or shouting at him as he is embarrassed - whereas I just either distract or ignore him

Taking DS to Thomasland next Monday for his birthday so that should be an ordeal fun day out for us all! DH has this thing that he feels DS should be walking everywhere and is loathe to use the pushchair - I keep telling DH that he is only 2 and maybe doesn't want to walk/is tired but it falls on deaf ears - so the result is DS refusing to walk, asking to be carried etc whilst DH gets annoyed and frustrated with it!!

Anyway, going to ogle Rafa watch the tennis now

sparkletoes · 06/07/2008 15:03

Haha yes DHs need to get over the whole embarrassment thing... understand that they are toddlers, they complain when they don't get their own way & don't care who is watching!!

I try to keep some 'tricks' up my sleeve to relieve his boredom/tantrums (snack trap with various finger foods in and a cup of juice) but find the ultimate cure is KEEP IT SHORT!

Just think this time next week u'll have your new car Ceebs!

Am ogling tennis while waiting for my cauliflower cheese to brown...
