i'm having a mother to be sumptuous spa treatment and a delux pedicure at the reebok spa at Canary wharf, we used to live there up until feb and DS bought me a gift voucher for the spa just before we made the snap decision to move to Derby and i have to use it by the 30th of August (i really dont understand why gift vouchers expire bizarre it was for a monetary amt not a specific treatment). A friend is joining me for the pedicure so will be nice to sit back and chat and then we will have a chilled afternoon dinner and a girlie movie. Will miss DS but am so looking forward to the weekend away. DH is looking forward to a weekend with DS all to himself so that will be nice too.

Jam put a link to the meet up thread at 13.10 today if you scroll back - don't know how to paste link in I'm afraid.

It's just December 2008 people who live in or near London - this Friday night! I think there are about ten of us. I spotted that you're at John & Lizzie's, which means you probably live nearish to me - I'm in Maida Vale.

Oh, shame! Perhaps there will be another one - a few people can't make it this time. I know Crouch End very well, I used to live quite near there...Love that little French place, Aix. Another goodie is right down at the end of Hornsey Lane, called Le Bistro. Bit unprepossessing but really nice food and they have a little garden out back. Anyway, don't want to gabble on more about London Town...

Nolda · 22/07/2008 19:58

All went well at my scan today and IT'S A BOY! Very pleased but glad that I've got a while yet to get used to the idea properly. What do you do with boys?

Went to cinema at the weekend and saw Mamma Mia, it was brill!!!

rosmerta · 22/07/2008 20:03

nolda glad the scan went well, boys are great! As for what to do with them, think of them as a dog, run & feed them

Veggiemummy · 22/07/2008 20:13

Rosemerta so funny and so true, in fact taking DH & DS to the park is like taking a big dog and his puppy for a run.

JamInMyWellies · 22/07/2008 21:50

Congrats Nolda great news, boys are fab my DS is exactly like a puppy infact sometimes it is difficult to tell the puppy and DS apart

I have got a massive bunged up nose just sniffed some nasal spray to clear it and by accident emptied nearly half the bottle down my nose by accident, my poor baby is going to be swimming in otrivine.

Gutted I cant go on Friday shall we try to organise something again as soon as poss so new thread joiners and numptys like me who forgot can go?

Oh and welcome to the mew ladies the more the merrier.

Rosmerta lol at treating boys like dogs.

We'll have to start thinking of boys names now, we had a few girls names picked out already.

chutneymary · 23/07/2008 09:32

Congratulations Nolda, that's lovely news.

I have had a rotten cold which has completely knocked me for six. Yesterday my eyes and nose were just pouring, so much so I couldn't drive or even leave the house! Feeling much better today, though nose etc rather red and sore. I'll be able to guide everyone to the table on Friday with my red nose! About to take some more paracetamol then tackle the kds' new bedroom while they are at nursery.

EffiePerine · 23/07/2008 09:33

boys def like overexcited puppies

apart from when they are sick and hot

majormoo · 23/07/2008 09:39

congrats nolda. boys are great-mine is so cuddly. It is a cliche but they are VERY active when you have been used to girls!

FB-I saw Mama Mia the other day too and loved it. So much so I cried at 'Dancing Queen'. Plus all my friends and I were blubbing at the scene when she is helping her daughter get ready for a ready as we all have little girls. Mind you the story line was pretty non-existant-but I didn't care at all!

majormoo · 23/07/2008 09:40

that was meant to say 'ready for her wedding'!!

Beans33 · 23/07/2008 09:52

I cried in that bit too. 4 of us went to see it. 2 of us are pregnant and it was us two that cried. The others are more steely than us - or could just be hormones!

Veggiemummy · 23/07/2008 10:06

oh Chutney you poor thing i'll think well thoughts for you. What are doing with the bedroom.

I have to stop moaning so much about symptoms, yesterday DS started holding his head and announced to DH that he had a headache just like mummy.

Another good thing about boys they absolutely adore their mummies, and can be quite protective. DS glared at the poor lady who had to take my blood or my first AN apt, i'm not sure what he was going to do if is showed any pain. But he was so cute patting me profusely on the arm afterwards.

GettingBiggerBird · 23/07/2008 10:08

Veggiemummy · 23/07/2008 10:26

i slept ok but feeling heachey (again) and tired but that is not that unusual most days so not sure if it weather or just me at the moment.

Babyveggie has been kicking up a storm this morning i think my idea that she was less active than DS was wrong. DS actually started his birth off by kicking a hole in the membrane sack thing (what is that called) they call it hind waters breaking, think this one might try to out do it's brother.

hattyyellow · 23/07/2008 10:49

That's interesting that people are having problems sleeping - I don't remember struggling to sleep until late on last time around but this time I think the babe is quite active at night and wakes me up - probably because it's the only time I'm lying still and resting!

One of my DD's has a tummy bug and woke us up 3 times in the night with projectile vomiting all over her and bedding, poor little scrap. Amazingly her sister slept peacefully through all the cleaning, lights on, sheet changing, sobbing. Am sooooo tired today!

My DD's have been waking up a lot recently and DH manages to sleep peacefully through it all - at least it's good practice for being permanently tired when the baby is born!

But have just booked my mum and brothers into a cottage near us for Christmas week - hurray! We have ended up paying a good chunk of it as my mum was trying to persaude me for all 3 of them to stay with us!

DH went mad and I put my foot down - we've got a 3 bed place with 2 kids already and I really don't want people sleeping in my sitting room and expecting food and drink the week I'm due/potenttially have a new baby in the house!

My mum will stay with us from a week before my due date and will stay on if I haven't had the baby. It's such a massive relief knowing that the girls will have emergency childcare down the road if I do go into labour Christmas week - it would have been very awkward to try and ask a friend to cover when we haven't really lived here this long and everyone is away for Christmas/at Christmas parties.

Sorry for me, me, me! I've just been fretting so much as my mum is 4 hour drive away, DH's parents are too frail to watch the girls and I was panicking about not having anyone on standby and having to go to the hospital by myself!

Beans33 · 23/07/2008 11:07

Gosh, bet you're relieved. I'm slightly wondering what to do about Xmas this year. Due on 7th, but with family history (everyone late), reckon the baby probably won't come til Xmas time. Mum is ready for us to go and stay with the little beast, but I'm wondering if I'll want to move out of our nest so soon after it's born. I guess it all depends on when it arrives etc. All a bit complex.

Feeling knackered today - keen to crawl into my bed and just sleep and sleep. Very close to pulling a sickie and heading home, but think I'll save those for nearer the end of the pg when I'm bigger and more uncomfortable!
