Due in June '05 - London Meet 2

Hi all, thought I'd put thi on its own thread rather than clutter up the Due in June (oh I mean "Jue") one.

I gather that April 2 is the preferred day. Is that good for everyone. As for a "quiet place". I think that's a good idea, but to be honest, I haven't a clue. Any suggestions?

So no lovely little ones then, Hurrah! Only joking (well a bit) I'll go anywhere but will throw in Kettners in Soho (3 mins walk Leicester Square tube) as a suggestion - have always had good meals there and they do champagne by the glass.
(I'm at home today and having trouble posting on the other board - can read everything though - odd)

teabelly · 26/01/2005 16:53

Oooh champers - that sounds good too - decisions decisions!! So you didn't see my guess from the translation the other day?? I'll try and get it again and post for you exactly what I received back...babblefish is definitely a good name for this website...gobbledy gook would have been better tho!!

teabelly · 26/01/2005 16:58

Welshie - this is what I got...'hook dw'i anything go I say this he mind thank about ask yet! I ' am being heartburn think be you be able guesio rwan'...good eh!! anyway I guessed girl...heartburn = lots of hair = girls = long hair...probably way off target!!

Zagat review, in case anyone is interested:

Kettners
12
18
15
£27

Soho
29 Romilly St. (Leicester Sq.) London, W1 020-7734 6112

With its ?fab?, ?throwback-to-a-past-era? decor, ?good?, ?low-cost? Italian menu, ?staff that know their stuff? and live pianist, this ?step up from the [usual] Pizza Express experience? is ?the best thing to happen? to this Soho townhouse since it was ?Oscar Wilde?s hangout?; whilst the less-impressed paint a different picture, pouting the ?food still disappoints?, even they admit the ?champagne bar can be fun.?

Also, the food rating is not nearly as good as the other restaurant (according to Zagat) but then it's also rated about half the price. So, I'd be happy with either. In fact, I've never been to either and Zagat could always be wrong.

Diverso sounds nicer.. although champagne by the glass.... but there will be enough of us to order a whole botle or two

charleypops · 26/01/2005 18:51

Welshmum - I had the posting problem on longer threads when I used Explorer. I installed Netscape and now have no problems - try this maybe?

LipstickMum · 26/01/2005 20:27

Diverso, sounds good. I remember Kettners from my previous London life. Can't really remember the food much.
You're very organised Uwila!

Scraggyaggy · 27/01/2005 13:18

Shall we book Diverso now then?

Uwila · 27/01/2005 13:28

Not really, Lippy. Its just that eating is a really important part of my life and i have my priorities straight.

Diverso is fine with me, if its okay with everyone else. Shall we give it the rest of the day for any objections to come forward, and book it tomorrow?

LipstickMum · 27/01/2005 13:48

Fine by me, I'm gonna check out the menu...

teabelly · 27/01/2005 20:17

ok by me.

welshmum · 28/01/2005 11:22

Fine by me too - was only suggesting Kettners for a glass of champagne and the location really.

Scraggyaggy · 28/01/2005 12:37

I haven't actually looked at location or menu... oops! But I honestly don't mind either - have to cut down on my drinking I think. This week has been the last in the run up to the tax filing deadline and I have been a bit naughty and had a few glasses this week...

Scraggyaggy · 31/01/2005 19:00

Bump - Have we made a decision about where we are going?

LipstickMum · 31/01/2005 19:29

I think Diverso...? Couldn't find an online menu, anyone know if they have one? This is a minor disaster, I am the worlds longest decision maker in restaurants ever! Just takes me ages to choose so having a good gander before-hand is so useful. Especially with all the chat that will be going on, I'll never be able to concentrate on the menu!!!!

charleypops · 31/01/2005 20:16

I find restaurants can usually fax a menu if you give them a ring if it's not online?

Scraggyaggy · 31/01/2005 22:10

Lippy - The solution is to give ourselves a good 2-3 hours of chatting, eating and enjoying this time!! Then we can take a gander at the menu at our leisure when we get there. x

LipstickMum · 01/02/2005 09:25

Not a bad idea Charley!

Just wondered if we were going to have anymore brave souls join us for the London Lunch on April 2nd???

Don't feel like you can't 'infiltrate' just because we've all met before and are going again. I can't wait to meet more of you who are able to come, Megi?? Tessie?? Uki?? Cornflake??

It's a 'no children' affair this time.

Uwila · 01/02/2005 14:07

I can make the reservations, if people who are coming would like to CAT me.

What time should we do? As I recall 12:00 was a bit early for those traveeling from afar. Shall we say 1:00 this time?

OP posts:
LipstickMum · 01/02/2005 14:08

1pm is fine with me.

teabelly · 01/02/2005 16:30

Yeah 1pm ok here too.

Scraggyaggy · 01/02/2005 17:51

1pm is excellent!

Lippy - Do you have a fax? Have you got the menu?

LipstickMum · 01/02/2005 19:05

I have got a fax, but didn't sort it out today.

welshmum · 01/02/2005 19:12

1pm suits me too - we met early last time because of the little ones so no need this time he he

Uwila · 02/02/2005 20:15

Okay, I'll book it for 1:00 on 02 April. No kiddies. And, of course no DH/Ps. So far I've got:

Uwila (me)
Welshie
Lippy
Scraggy
Teabelly
Charley

Anyone else?
Pink?
Katz?
