dd I notice you handed me back an empty packet! Cheers

My mum is doing ok, started on a course of injections on Monday, she has to inject herself every second day from now on yucky but I suppose it's essential. She loved the holiday and is in good form. Our dog has her plaster off and is bare-legged (literally - shaved) and I can hardly look at the wound on her leg without retching or feeling (bizarrely) like going to the loo. What's that about, may I ask? Fear?? It's 'orrible but she's managing really well and is also in great form, the old chocolate darling. Other wee dog being a bit ignored & has got FAT because his exercise regime has dropped off with hers gotta get walking again.

How are you feeling, dizzy?

Buckets - I agree with every word you write.

poppysocks · 16/05/2008 14:15

Thank you for all your lovely words. I have some rather unresolved issues on this subject. Did you notice..?! Think it would help to find out what actually happened, but will prob. leave it until after August. P.S. Sorry if my experiences have scared any first timers... For every difficult birth there seem to be many more that are fine.

So glad that your DDog is getting better VG and that the holiday was good for your Mum.

Lovely sunny day here. And I've just left work for a fortnight off. Hooray!!

dizzydixies · 16/05/2008 14:28

VG thats great news on both mum and doggy front!

empty?!?!? is there any other kind of jaffa packet

am feeling fine thank you, I hadn't realised how stressed I was with all this 'membrane seperation' stuff until I was given the all clear

taking it easy today as its very sunny and warm and I did LOADS to get the skip loaded up yesterday!

poppy am back next week 08.20-12.30 Tues to fri and have the inlaws coming over on Fri [arrrgghhhh emoticon]

still, am thinking a trip to cairnie beckons whilst you're off?!?!

Shazza2002 · 16/05/2008 14:34

Afternoon all.

All this talk of birth has reminded me that this baby does have to come out, something I've also been in denial about

Ordered my pram today . They will be in stock for shipping 2nd June, my sister is going to keep it at her house. Her husband will put it togther and she can have a wheel around the garden.

Hope everybody else is ok. DP has told me he can no longer sleep in the same bed as me. Apparently I spend all night tossing and turning, snoring, farting and stealing the covers. Plus I remember him waking me last night when he came to bed to ask me to move over. Apparently I shouted at him that I was on 'my' pillow so was therefore on my side of the bed, problem was at some point I must have moved 'my' pillows to the middle of the bed cause that's where I was sleeping

Quick link for anyone who's had a traumatic labour or labour attempt:
Birth Trauma Association
My own birth story is one of the examples, under the pseudonym Jessica, if anyone wants the bejaysus scared out of them! I can promise that having my 2nd baby my way totally cured me, to the extent that I seriously considered VBAC this time but can't be bothered with all that surprise palaver now.

VintageGardenia · 16/05/2008 17:45

Gosh Buckets what a story - 5 years ago? You sound exremely well sorted by this stage though?

Poppy given timing you may be right to hold off till afterwards - you'd be stressed waiting for them, might not arrive at all, might arrive immediately before labour - at this stage might be added stress.

dizzy glad you're feeling well. Not been a straightforward one for you, has it?

Shazza lucky you on the pram! That's a big thing to get sorted. I'm sure your DP won't stay out of bed for too long!

Ooh Sazz that sling looks brilliant. I'm sure I saw a dad wearing his daughter in one of those when I was in the Co-op yesterday, it looked so convenient.

Buckets · 16/05/2008 19:43

Ooh slings! This is what I've got, the lesbotic rainbow ringsling.

warthog · 16/05/2008 20:15

i bought a hugabub for dd1, but stupidly decided to buy black, thinking the dirt wouldn't show. not thinking that baby vomit is WHITE. and also the damn thing was excruciatingly hot! not a good buy, but can see how the right sling can work...

warthog · 16/05/2008 20:17

buckets - hats off to you for confronting your first birth trauma. must have been absolutely awful, and that midwife absolutely did betray your trust.

they fobbed me off when i wanted an epidural too, and when they did agree to it was too late! this time i will be a little more forceful.

poppysocks · 16/05/2008 20:27

Buckets - Thanks for the link. Poor you. Not a good first experience. Really good to hear that you've found your way through it. I also noticed 'Vicky's' story and my goodness me it's similar to mine - even the dates are the same - DD was born only a fortnight later.

Hi Dizzy. So glad you got the all clear. Such a relief! A Cairnie meet-up is def in order. We're actually going away for the next fortnight though (just within the UK). When we're back though I'll be starting to cut down my hours at work so will be around much more. How are you fixed in June?

dizzydixies · 16/05/2008 20:35

poppy was such a lovely day we went this afternoon so even have our season tickets now I finish work on June 10th so anytime you're free lol

buckets well done you, I had a terrible birth with dd1 and eventually tried to confront it only to get a phone call from the midwife who was there for most of it asking me exactly what my problem was I was naive to think that dd2's would be easier and in some ways it WAS but still ended up in EMCS as I think the fact I threatened to SUE anyone that came near to me with high forceps was taken seriously - am not a confontrational person but enough was enough and the surgeon I had was fantastic

this is why I'm unsure as to where to go with this one. now that I've had the all clear I am going to read up about it all (I tend to ignore things until the inevitable) and be more informed for my decision - am not going to be a martyr though and will only consider a trial of labour it I don't think this one will be nearer to 14lbs

to those of you who are first timers - please do not be distressed/anxious by my posts - my babies have been 10lb4 and 11lb1oz so am hardly an average case

anyway - am delighted to announce that a mars bar followed closely by a magnum white are wonderful for heartburn and indigestion

dh off out with his rugby mates and is early shift tomorrow so goodness knows how this is going to go

dd1 has a party in the morning and we're going to the lifeboat open day/gala thing weather permitting so wishing you all a lovely sunny happy carefree Saturday
