Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

Grrr I am at work still doing an urgent job which could take me all night. Just as well the awful tiredness phase has passed or I would have gone home regardless.

serendippity, I am fancying Jamaican food at the mo....but any takeaway would be nice right now....get some for me please!

Oblomov how infuriating. The fact that they can cock up and you have to take the consequences is maddening. Bloody NHS.

Actually, bloody public services full stop. I've had to deal with the police a lot this week at work and it's due to their laziness that I'm still here on a Friday night...

dozymare · 25/04/2008 19:42

lacksdaisy OMG - I totally missed that as well....just looked back as wondered what everyone was talking about and cannot believe what happened.....the mad thing is, this happened to me a few weeks back with DS1 aged 4. One minute he was fine, the next had a temp of nearly 40 said his head and neck hurt and that the sun was too bright and to pull the curtains......rushed him to the Dr who confirmed all of the above but couldn't find a cause for the temp hence we went to A+E for tests....luckily he was absolutely fine and the next day was back to his usual self....very odd and very scary so know how you feel.....how is your DD now????

oblomov Am on your behalf,,,.that is absolutely disgraceful and inexcusable - can you write to the head of Midwifery cc your consultant and the world and his wife explaining your disgust??? Might work

As for me, I had my "councilling" (sp) session today...actually ended up as a crying session and for me was a real release...i am having a "reassurance" scan at 845am on Monday at the EPAU. Actually surprised at how it helped to talk about how i was feeling - she thought I was suffering from PTSD bought on by my irrational fear of scans (12 week scan found out baby had died) and 20 week scan found out that DS1 had a problem with his kidney that needed an op at 3 days and then follow up care and removal at some stage (happened last May and he is fine) However, it means I am very nervous about things and the fact that this PG was unplanned and a miracle (another long story for another time due to my ongoing medical conditions) that it means that I had "compartmentalised" all my fears and worries as something I had done, let's move forward...>However, this "surprise" means that they have come back with a vengance....Anyway, feel better for offloading and taking one day at a time...Sorry for long post!

DM x

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 20:08

I'm so glad the counseling has helped. DM. What a lot to have to go through. So much of motherhood is just plain traumatic. It never ceases to amaze me how well you ladies cope with it all.

Daisy-the rash my DS got was as result of hie legs going purple and swelling up after his jabs, hours after them. They were burst blood vessels, too. It is very frightening.

Lolis- sorry your friday has been so stressful.

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 20:28

dozy, I'm glad your counselling session helped. It's amazing what we bottle up and file away isn't it?

DD fine tongiht. tucked up in bed by 7:15, and hopefully she'll sleep all night tonight. whether I will is a different story. DH slept on her floor last night, but it's just me and her tonight so I'll be awake listening to her all night.

I think my possible UTI of last wekend is a definate one. Been getting stabbing pains all afternoon, and cystitis-y type feelings as well as the cramping I had last weekend and I've got a temperature as well now . Been drinking loads, but it isn't helping, so I think I'll need to see a doc tomorrow.

Am off to bed myself very soon!

Lolis · 25/04/2008 20:29

Yeay I'm going home! Happy weekend everyone!

Lolis · 25/04/2008 20:32

Aw poor thing lackadaisycal. Sounds like you definitely need a good sleep! Hope you feel better.

pinkyminky · 25/04/2008 20:34

Daisy hope you feel better!

toolly · 25/04/2008 21:45

Oblomov. Sorry to hear of the cock up. Are you talking about King's College Hospital in London?

twinklingfairy · 25/04/2008 21:55

Yeah, beanie is fine, sonographer was very happy with what she saw. Said that if I had just come in for a scan and she did not know about all my goings on, she would have thought it perectly normal. Yeah!
Pic on my profle, not very good really cos so early, but I will be getting another in 3 weeks.

The consultant came in too and he was over the moon. So excited that there is a baby there at all. They have decided that I have an odd shaped womb with two wings. Almost heart shaped but without the deep groove at the top. So he has decided that he cleared one side, leaving the other intact and wants to write a report all about it. It was Very hard not to be drawn into his excitment!!

Poor you daisy, scary ill DD now a UTI. Glad to hear she is feeling so much better, sorry to hear you may have a UTI. I had one a couple of months ago and they are really awful. I ended up dehydrated and fainted in my kitchen, late at night, giving myself a bit of a black eye on my way down.

Does anyone know if the Quinny Buzz takes a buggy board?
I have an old style Quinny buzz which I think is fab, but it does take up most of the boot. It now lives at Grannies and I cart the Zapp about with me.
I am figuring that I don't do much walking without my mum, so 2 prams will work, with 2 people. We will see how it works in the long run.

Wow! I am having a Baby!!!

lackaDAISYcal · 25/04/2008 22:07

I'm still up as the bloody cat won't come in and I can't leave her out all night so I'm here till she decides to mewl at the window.

twinkling, that is just fantastic about the scan ...and thank heavens for your odd shaped womb then (now there's a story that junior is going to be tired hearing )

your DD is gorgeous by the way

oops, DD shouting; I'm definately off this time!

Roca · 25/04/2008 23:45

fab news from all today. Twinkling - I'm still in shock with your story!!

smilesattheweekend · 26/04/2008 08:29

Twinkling - good news!
Thomasina - I was just the same as pinkali - symptoms went just before 8 weeks overnight! had 4 scans so far due to previous history and Tidgy is still in there!

Hugs to all those having a "trying" time at the moment.

Hugs to everyone who has had scans.

I had appt with Dr on Thursday which I thought was booking in but she just filled forms in, she tested my wee and I have a UTI but no symptoms they have sent it away to the wee testing dept (thank god i don't work there!). Was asked to make a booking in appt with MW for a couple of weeks but they were fully booked for the next month!! Luckily the MW called and has agreed to do another clinic on Monday so am seeing her on monday afternoon!! 11 Weeks yesterday - can't wait for next week to actually get to the golden 12 week mark - will then tell other people about Tidgy.

Great news Twinkling your story really is amazing and DD is gorg!
Congrats to everyone who has had good scans this week.

Bettispaghetti · 26/04/2008 09:15

Hi everyone

Haven't managed to catch up with everyone's posts yet as DH has been hogging the PC all week. Just wanted to say I had scan yesterday and all's well. Baby measuring 62mm and my downs risk is 1:518 which I was pleased about given that I'm 39. My edd has changed to 5th Nov.

Off to catch up with everyone now.

Pinkali37 · 26/04/2008 09:19

Morning All,

Once again sneaked onto computer.

OB (Boy am I lazy at typing full names), I am very upset for you, I fully understand how you must feel. Just a thought, have you tried ringing PALS at your hopsital. If you ring the switchboard and ask for the number they shoudl know what you are going on about. It is the Patient... (can't remember the rest), explain your situation, let them know you have been in floods of tears and must have a scan ASAP. It should work !!!! Let me know. They are the people that if you are in major pain and you don't have a consultant appointment for another 2 years (exageration) they can get you in sooner BUT you must fit into certain tick boxes. SO... do mention all that pain you've been in mention your fears etc.... and how annoyed you are at the system. Really hope his works.

LACKS - Owch.. I imagine you are full up to the top with cranberry juice. My only advice is flush it out with normal water. Drink more than you could really cope with. It does work.

DOZY- really pleased the councilling is working. Very often this is all it takes. For a complete stranger to listen to you and allow you to react how you want to. Sounds like a good thing to me.

RIGHT, photos, have been taking photos of scan pics and think I will have them on my profile now. YIKES... hope so.

xx

pinkyminky · 26/04/2008 09:28

More good scan news, this is great!

Twinkling- what an amazing story. You know, I have a really heart shaped uterus, and I didn't even think of that being a possible reason for your beanie's miracle survival. You'd think the sonographer would pick it up on the scans, but they don't always.

Keep drinking the water, Daisy

Pinkali37 · 26/04/2008 09:35

Pinky, have you got your scan photos up? I've done mine now.

pinkyminky · 26/04/2008 09:54

I keep meaning to put some pics on my profile, I'll get my scan pics scanned in this evening. I love your pics, by the way- I've never had early scans so they are really interesting.

Twinkling- your DD is very cute- love the hat!

serendippity · 26/04/2008 11:22

oblomov it is appaling you haven't been seen yet, i'm furious on your behalf
twinkling congratulations, i am so pleased for you
dozy coucilling can be wonderful, i've been through it with my mother, and althought it didn't do much for our relationship as such, it did help my attitude towards it.
lackadaisycal you poor thing, what a horrid time you're having atm. It was the same for me when i was pg with dd, i felt like i had 3 months of cystitis, but no one could fine a urine infection! I think it was just put down to needing to pee all the time anyway combined with being dehydrated because of the sickness i was having, that was actualy causing pain. If you have a temp tho, it does sound ominous. Keep drinking cranberry juice. Also i had cysitis this time round and drank Oasis sachets, which cleared it up in no time. It says not to take in pregnancy but i rang my gp AND double checked with the pharmasist and they both agreed it was ok. It works within a couple of hours and you can just buy it in supermarkets and pharmaists

It is a boiling hot day here and we have a barbacue to go to later...which i don't want to go to becasuse i am still knackered i went to bed at 10.30 last night, didn't get up until 9.30 this morning and i still want to go back to bed.
However, apart from reching (yuk) this morning i have had no sickness for 3 whole days and i had fish and chips last night!
Does anyone else feel ravanously hungry but full after just a few mouthfulls of food? then hungry again 15 mins later? it's very irritating!

Roca · 26/04/2008 11:31

Serendipity - this is me: Don't fancy anything to eat, uh oh, feel really faint, must eat something, urgh, now I feel sick, urgh now I feel bloated, is that the food or baby, urgh again now I feel really sick, oops, now I feel faint so I'd better eat, but what do I eat, urgh I just want to sleep............!!!

At night in bed it's like - it that my uterus stretching, or cramps or bloatedness or too much food or am I hungry - ahhhhh! I just can't work out what's going on with food and my tummy and feeling faint at the moment!

Pinkali37 · 26/04/2008 11:52

I'm getting hungry at around 3/4am and had to get up past 2 nights to get a banana. I'm the saem though. Can not eat half as much as I used to be able to. Very strange.

After the effects of the Haribos the other night, toady I have the other problem and have now had really painful pains on my left hand side. Have just eaten a packet o prunes so expect a result soon!

We are going to a dinner party tonight and really NOT looking forward to it. We have to be there for 8pm (to me that is time to get PJ's on not go out). Am also worried cos am funny with food at the mo and I am likely to sit there and let the food slip off my tongue and shout EEK (JOKE! but sligtly similar).

cricri · 26/04/2008 12:03

Twinkling Great news I'm so happy your bean is fine after everything you've been through.
Love everybody's scan pics by the way!
Oblomov I can't believe how you've been treated I hope the PALS people can help you out as Pinkali suggested. Were you planning to have a NT scan as well? If so you could argue that they have to squeeze you in for that before 13 weeks. Either that or go private and send them the bill... Not exactly what you need at the moment.
LackaDAISYcal How are you feeling this morning? You've had a rough few days - I hope DD is fully recovered now. It sounded awful.
DM Really pleased your first counselling session went so well and it's good to hear you sounding more positive.
I'm 13 weeks exactly today - I can't quite believe it
Hope everybody else is OK.

twinklingfairy · 26/04/2008 12:42

Aw thank guys, yeah I think my DD is a bit of a cutie too, but then I am a bit biased
She loves wearing that hat too odd child

I am feeling very sorry for myself today, for no other reason than cos I can. DH is back to work on Monday and my mum is away on holiday for a week. So it will be the first time I have had to get back to reality without loads of people around me to lean on for caring for DD. That was a long sentence, did it make any sense??

Well, anyway, I am taking advantage of the fact that DH is still here and am lounging around still in my dressing gown, about to jump into a nice bath (which DH is running for me) Then DH will watch his grand prix nonsense and afterwards take DD and dog out for a walk. Leaving me in peace. Not a bad day really.
Anyone else bedded by 4?
DD goes down for her snooze about then, and I have just been jumping into bed myself for a couple of hours
Double edge sword though, cos if I don't eat before I sleep, I am sick when I wake too long between eating I guess.
Did someone say that it (the MS) was supposed to ease off at 9 weeks? I thought 9-12 were meant to be the worst?
I am happy to get better at 9 if it is true though

suiledonn · 26/04/2008 12:55

Hi everyone, I haven't been on for ages. Just back from a week at my parent's house with dd as my hyperemesis got so bad I couldn't manage on my own with dd when dh was at work. The week's rest did me a lot of good but I am still really nauseous and throwing up a lot. I am still hoping it will wase off after 12 weeks. We have a wedding to go to on 10th of May and I really want to go and I have my driving test on the 24th so need to be better by then.

ceebee74 · 26/04/2008 14:02

Twinkling - what fantastic fantastic news!! That is one determined beanie inside of you I love your DD's hat (being a big winnie the pooh fan myself) - tis gorgeous (as is your DD of course).

Serendippity - am totally with you on the being starving and then feeling full really quickly! DH is getting very fed up of throwing half-eaten bowls of cereal away In the morning, I am starving starving hungry so think 'ooh I will have a huge bowl of cereal' and then halfway through, feel full and not want it - and that pattern continues pretty much throughout the day! I guess we need to eat 'little and often' don't we?

Got my consultant's appointment through the post this morning - it is the week after my scan. It will be interesting to see what their opinion on a VBAC is.

Just off to a birthday party with DS in a bit and then I am away for a couple of days. It is my birthday tomorrow so we are going up to the Lake District.

Good luck to anyone having their scan on Monday - I will be back on Monday night.

Have a good weekend everyone
