Babes in Scotland this year - shall we have our own thread?

Hi, I can't see any up to date antenatal threads for mums to be in Scotland, anyone want to join in this one? I think there are a few Scottish mums on the due in June thread, so I wondered if we should have our very own for all of this year's Scottish crop?

Josey pops in to wave keep forgetting to come over.

Northeast hope your twinges turn in to something soon.

northeastmummy · 24/04/2008 08:36

Thanks josey . The twinges certainly became very early contractions overnight but haven't turned into anything serious. I was induced last time with a drip and although my contractions built up gradually (I was lucky), they still went from vague pains to full on contractions pretty quickly.

This is all new to me but I'm not complaining. I'd really love a natural birth if possible without any induction so will just wait my turn.

It's DH's birthday today. I'm not sure if we really want our LO to share the same day!

josey · 24/04/2008 10:48

you need to eat some pineapple and keep busy hopefully they will get strong....maybe you could hold off till midnight good luck.
Happy Bday for your DH

jaq39 · 24/04/2008 11:27

Hello all,
No baby yet from me!
I went in tues. morning for induction, and by the time it came to yesterday evening(wed) and after three lots of gel, still no joy! My inner OS aparently still tight shut.
Have been having quite regular, painful contractions though. They obviously not strong enough yet though.
I was very upset.
They booked me back in this morning, after a rest period (you can only have three lots of gel at a time) and they have just sent me home again because there are no beds yet! Have to go back in two hours.
I cant beleive it!
Anyway, I got a really good sleep last night, and hopefully by tonite baby she will make an appearance!
Good luck northeast sounds like things starting to happen for you!
Love to everyone else
x

northeastmummy · 24/04/2008 11:43

Oh jaq - how frustrating! That's great that you're feeling contractions now though - can only be a good thing.

Off out for a walk now to see if I can get things moving again .

josey · 24/04/2008 11:59

Oh Jaq thats awful so glad you got a good sleep though, will keep fingerscrossed that you next post with baby news...good luck x

whinegums · 24/04/2008 13:51

Jaq, poor you, but how exciting - this time tomorrow your new person should be here! Good luck if you haven't already left, can't wait to hear how you get on xxx

Hi girls,
Aisha born Fri at 4.35pm, 7lb 14oz! At last!
She is gorgeous. Was put on drip at 11am, in established labour by 12.30ish and she born 4.35, so pretty quick! I discharged myself in the evening cos Ive been in their most of the week and was sick of the place (Edin. royal)
She breastfed straight away and still feeding well and no sore nipples yet!!

Hope everyone else well, maybe Northeast has her baby by now!

Can I just add that Edin. def needs another maternity hospital, too large an area for them to cover and I even though the midwifes were lovely, I def think they are too strtched to give you the care you need. IME.
xx

aberdeenhiker · 27/04/2008 08:46

hi, I got a text from northeastmummy last night to say her baby girl arrived around 8pm! I'll let her spill the details (I don't know many yet) but everything's great and we were at her place for lunch yesterday and at 3pm when we left, she was doing amazing and my DH had no clue she was in early labour.

jaq39 · 27/04/2008 18:54

Congratulations Northeastmummy!
Hope everything went great for you! x

dizzydixies · 27/04/2008 21:59

oh lovely news, two new babies

has anyone heard from soph28?!?

whinegums · 28/04/2008 17:23

Congratulations to the two new mums - lovely news!

Had another Parentcraft class this afternoon, with nice and funny mw. Apparently the Southern General in Glasgow are changing their protocols - from 16 June - to be less interventionist, and more in tune with mws and natural births. Hmm. Even extends to stuff like being able to eat and drink in labour.

So anyone due to give birth at SGH - hang on til 17 June if you can (I'll be crossing my legs - due on the 20th!). Not quite sure why they don't start now of course - and why 17 June is the magic date!

Hope everyone is well, and if anyone went to the Baby Show at the weekend they got some good bargains.

I'm now 3 days overdue and going in for a sweep on Friday if nothing's happened before then.

Hoping/praying/going for second VBAC, but if the sweep deosn't work then it's another section for me - the hospital won't risk an induction. No public transport out here though and 2 other sprogs to look after, so really can't risk another section. This baby needs to come out the right way

SPD is bad, but it depends on baby's position whether I'm just walking slowly or in a wheelchair

Need good normal delivery vibes and understanding staff who will hold off on the constant monitoring so I can get comfy with my SPD.

SPD and VBACs don't seem to mix very well

bitofadramaqueen · 28/04/2008 20:05

Quick post to help keep this on my 'threads I'm on'. Congrats to the new mums. Glad to hear the mw's at Edinburgh were lovely Jac - I was in on Thursday for some monitoring, was told doctor would be there in 10 minutes and I could go home, but then the shift changed... 2 hours later, went in search of someone and said I wanted my notes back because I was going home .

whinegums loving that you have to wait till 17th June. Keep those legs crossed.

bobsmum · 29/04/2008 11:29
