Babes in Scotland this year - shall we have our own thread?

Hi, I can't see any up to date antenatal threads for mums to be in Scotland, anyone want to join in this one? I think there are a few Scottish mums on the due in June thread, so I wondered if we should have our very own for all of this year's Scottish crop?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
expatinscotland · 26/03/2008 15:00

did they ever ring me back?

no, they haven't. and they close Wednesday afternoons.

it has been nearly ONE WEEK since i submitted the urine sample

i'd bet one of my kidneys it's been lost. again.

i'm going in there tomorrow to make an appointment with the practice manager.

i am nearly 9 weeks pregnant by dates, and who can be sure of that because i had one very long cycle after hte ERPC and that is it.

my last LMP was 26 January. and i spotted Sat. and Sun. they were closed on Monday.

i've already put in a formal complaint about treatment at Inverclyde Hospital from teh last time, which my MSP is also investigating.

now this.

i'm playing lotto tonight and if we even match 4 and get a couple of grand we're out of here like bullets.

no one at the front desk even seemed to know how it works here.

i don't want to ring the EPU at Paisley because they were just as brain dead and i'm almost sure they'll fob me off back tot eh GP.

well, i'd love to talk to the GP - if someone would let me.

i'm now looking for someone who will scan me privately without needing a GP referral letter.

this is f*&^ing ridiculous.

expatinscotland · 26/03/2008 15:05

fetal medicine centre in Edinburgh will do it for £100, no referral required.

out comes the credit card.

josey · 26/03/2008 15:51

Expat that is awful...glad you have a complaint in against them...my neighbour had a bad experience and with her last complained and now has the Head MW of the area doing all her AN Care.

Hope you get some answers soon.

expatinscotland · 26/03/2008 15:52

i'm waiting for DH to get home from work so i can ring Edinburgh in peace.

sweetkitty · 26/03/2008 20:48

Congratulations on the safe arrival of Lewis Gabriel, first one of the thread, sounds like a lovely birth too.

expat - babyscanning in Glasgow will do a straightforward 2D scan for £75

bitofadramaqueen · 26/03/2008 21:32

Expat - just skimmed over a couple of your last few posts and have loads of empathy with the way you have been treated.

I had 2 mc's last year and had some awful treatment at the hands of GP surgery/practice nurses/hospital. Like when the hospital forgot to tell anyone I had mc'd and I got letters/calls wondering why I hadn't been to booking in clinic. At my GPs (in Edinburgh) they normally send urine samples to the hospital (10 minutes drive away) and they take at least a week to come back. When I got pregnant this time, the GP I saw (the only decent one in the practice) was thankfully happy to take my word for it. Because of my history, she sent blood samples off to the hospital to check my pregnancy hormone levels each week until I could get an early scan and they were supposed to take a week, (what's the point in that - they would have been a week out of date by the time I got them ) but I have to confess I rang the EPU at the same hospital and cried and they got the blood samples back from the lab pretty much on the same day for me every week. You're absolutely right to go and see the practice manager - I wish I had last year when I had loads of problems. Good luck with it all.

On a more cheerier note congratulations MM on your new arrival!

mumofdjandbabies · 27/03/2008 08:55

congrats!

Klaw · 27/03/2008 23:04

Expat what's happening?

expatinscotland · 27/03/2008 23:07

I'm going for a scan tomorrow, Klaw.

I'm going to ask not to see the screen and to get fully dressed before I hear any news.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's molar or another miscarriage.

I'm prepared, I just want to know one way or another.

Klaw · 27/03/2008 23:09

Ok Expat, I'll be holding your hand, Stay strong

expatinscotland · 27/03/2008 23:10

thanks!

my gut tells me it's a mole.

we're going to call it a day after this if this one doesn't stick.

i'm getting up there and we have two beautiful girls.
