Babes in Scotland this year - shall we have our own thread?

Hi, I can't see any up to date antenatal threads for mums to be in Scotland, anyone want to join in this one? I think there are a few Scottish mums on the due in June thread, so I wondered if we should have our very own for all of this year's Scottish crop?

that's brilliant news expat. Toasting you with some virtual champagne!

monthlymayhem · 28/03/2008 19:51

jaq39 · 28/03/2008 22:53

Congratulations expat! such good news, you must be soooo happy
Time to take it easy now!

expatinscotland · 28/03/2008 22:54

I'm quite nauseasted.

Think I'm going to bed soon, too.

Just seen this expat that is brilliant news, I know you will still worry for the next few weeks or so, I still don't quite believe it at 25 weeks and she is kicking away.

TheApprentice · 29/03/2008 14:18

Hi all, I am just back from a week away.

Congratulations MM, and also Expat though I'm v sorry for how you are being treated. I've never heard anything like that urine test business before, most GPs just take your word for it.

Hope everyone doing ok, I can feel my baby moving now and OMG, it never stops! Am worried I'm going to get a hyper active child!

Klaw · 29/03/2008 14:29

Expat, you know I 'knew' that your bean was still with you but didn't want to tempt fate by suggesting that you would find a baby there.... I'm so pleased!

Sending you lots of sticky bean dust to make sure that he/she stays that way!

Try to stay chilled out and enjoy the ms

expatinscotland · 29/03/2008 20:18

Thanks, all!

Yes, sweet, it's not fun to go in for a scan after a loss.

The lady was really sweet. I told her I didn't want to see the screen but after a bit she said, 'Are you sure you don't want to see your baby? I think it's trying to wave at you.'

K999 · 29/03/2008 20:20

Sorry for bursting in ladies...wanted to say 'hi' to Expat! Am so glad that you and baby are doing well!

dizzydixies · 29/03/2008 21:20

expat I agree, I keep getting taken back into the same room where they confirmed my mc and I keep wishing they would use one of the other rooms, am getting to be such a regular with all the scans I've been having that the nice sonographer knows me by name

am glad the lady was nice to you too - its what reassurance is all about

sweetkitty · 30/03/2008 12:13

Yes I was in the same room as they confirmed the mc, conveniently located at the bottom of a very long corridor past the maternity wards (don't they ever think about these things?)

I had a reassurance scan at 8 weeks and blubbed all the way through it, also had a bleed at 10-11 weeks and they refused to scan me as it was only a little bleed so left me over Christmas and New Year until I lied and said I had more bleeding and got a scan at 13 weeks. Of course this meant that I had had my one and only scan and am getting no more unless I have problems.

We payed for a private one 4 weeks ago.

dizzydixies · 30/03/2008 13:36

ladies am horrified to hear what you're all left to do off your own backs. I have had two bloody horrible births BUT my ongoing treatment and care from Ninewells will all pregnancies has been wonderful

am and on your behalves

had a mmc before dd1 and the EPU scanned me every 2 weeks till I was handed over to Antenatal care. Lots of growth scans towards end. same with dd2, great care and because have had heavy bleeding with this one too the EPU and antenatal have been fantastic again

time to move to tayside girls, if only for the hosp

bitofadramaqueen · 30/03/2008 16:25

Sweetkitty - that's awful that they wouldn't see you when you had a bleed at 10-11 weeks.

I didn't have my booking-in scan in same room, but when I went to the EPU for an early scan (cos 2 previous mc's) I had to go back to the same room. I also had a very long walk past lots of expectant mothers; it was hell. When I had mc I had to go back for a second scan to make sure everything had gone, and of course it was the same long walk. I dont know how my legs carried me.

Thankfully no problems this time - 12 weeks to go and fingers/legs/toes crossed!

LauraT · 31/03/2008 09:18

congratulations expat, you must be so relieved. I can't believe the palaver you've been through with your GP and Inverclyde though, what a load of crap. Home pregnancy tests are so reliable these days so most GPs just take your word for it!

Hope everyone's got a nice sunny day today... the sun is even shining in Kilmarnock!

jaq39 · 31/03/2008 11:53

Suns shining in Edinburgh!!

Klaw · 31/03/2008 15:21

the sun is shining in Angus too, it's a beautiful spring day!!!!

mybabysinthegarden · 31/03/2008 15:25

Great news expat! Now maybe your GP will believe you.

Sunny in the Borders too (intermittently).

minipinkscottish · 31/03/2008 17:46

Sunny here too!!!! (Fife)

xxxxxx

bitofadramaqueen · 31/03/2008 19:24

Still sunny in Edinburgh (although it was a bit wobbly just after lunch).

Please let spring have sprung (or at the very least, let it stay dry for a week so the DH can cut the grass).

josey · 31/03/2008 21:51

Expat glad the scan was good news.

It has been lovely and sunny here today, what a difference a bit of sun makes in our lives.

aberdeenhiker · 01/04/2008 08:15

and after crazy rain last night, it's sunny again today too! Mind you it'll bprobably be raining at the weekend...

bitofadramaqueen · 01/04/2008 08:49

We had the crazy rain in Edinburgh too aberdeenhiker, sadly its not cleared away to reveal any sunshine yet. Can you send some our way?
