My twins are due in May and it would be nice to have other multiple-mums-to-be to chat to!

Accessorize - re. cars: the VW Sharan is supposed to be very good and quite economical too.

Re routines: Mine feed at 7am, 10am, 1 or 2pm (depending on what time their midday nap started), a few minutes at 5pm-ish to get them through their bath, then a bottle of ebm at 6pm and the same at 10pm. Then they feed at about 3am in the night. They are 10 weeks old now and went down to one feed in the night at 7 weeks. When they were first born I fed them every 3 hours or when they demanded (which was a lot during the night!)

MerryMarigold · 19/07/2008 23:00

Pazza and GBB - I saw TAMEE on TAMBA but their weblink wasn't working, so not sure where they were meeting etc. Unfortunately I'm busy on 27th of July otherwise Vicky park is only about 15 min drive...is there a web address for them which you can tell me?

accessorizequeen · 19/07/2008 23:03

Thanks, pazza. Can't remember why we knocked sharan off the list, I think with four car seats in there wasn't enough room in the boot for a double. We're having major problems trying to figure out how to use isofix car seats for the twins (we have one seat & two bases already and love them!) because they only fit on the outside middle seats. So how on earth do I get the other two into the back row if buggy in there (Or even if not?)!!

GettingBiggerBird · 20/07/2008 09:22

MM here's the link to the Yahoo group for TAMEE groups.yahoo.com/group/tamee/. The Stoke Newington one seems very active too, I think it meets weekly www.twinsclubn16.com/.

Thanks for filling out the list, really helpful. Off to pregnancy yoga followed by a 90 minute pregnancy massage, what bliss.

mel2005 · 20/07/2008 09:55

we were going to either take the side middle seat out and out the buggy in the door (if we have a sliding door) and the two babies in the middle seats and the two older children on the back seats OR take one of the back seats out and have two babies and one toddler in the middle seats and one child and the buggy in the back.
do you have the maxi-cosi isofix? if so they can be used with a nornal seat belt in the middle seat.

accessorizequeen · 20/07/2008 12:18

that's kind of what we were thinking mel, but didn't know whether ds1 wld be happy in the back on his own. We have maxi cosi cabriofix and really want to use the isofix as we have the bases and much safer and easier all round. Darn.

MerryMarigold · 20/07/2008 16:05

GBB - thanks for the link! It works! Looks there is stuff to buy!! Will keep an eye on all that...I live nearer Hackney/ BG so will stick with that one, Stokey is further on. Wanstead is nearest, but I'll check them both out and see where I feel more at home!

MerryMarigold · 21/07/2008 10:56

Neenz, MB question...how easy is it to pop the carrycots on and off! I am thinking if it's easy-ish, I may be able to manage. Also, can you fold MB up with the carrycots on it? Thanks.....

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 11:07

Am so jealous of u lot!!! I'd love to have twins! My wee sisters are fab and are always playing with each other.

Twin Emmaljunga cerox is great and has a reversible handle, faces both ways so need for seperate carrycots etc.

Just thought Id randomly drop that

accessorizequeen · 21/07/2008 11:09

I had a carrycot on the mb single for ds2, and it was just undoing the 4 clips, pretty easy & quick. I couldn't fold the single with carrycot on.

accessorizequeen · 21/07/2008 11:09

did you measure then, merry?

MerryMarigold · 21/07/2008 13:02

yep. no luck. bah humbug! i measured a 74cm stick. even the baby jogger mini is 73.5cm so I don't think that will fit either. i have two choices:

  • get something else (ie. a tandem) that I can get in
  • buy any buggy and load babies in outside

Thanks youngbutnotdumb, i will look at that emmaljunga. i haven't seen it on websites though. does it fold up? or do you have to take it apart to fold it?

MerryMarigold · 21/07/2008 13:13

OH MY GIDDY AUNT. The emmaljunga is 90cms wide. I don't think so! I need about 70cms max so think it will have to be the icandy with carrycots, the zoom with carrycots, there is an inglesina one, all very pricey. definitely going on ebay. will wait till i get my TAMBA guide though!

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 13:18

Yeah the Cerox is big but folds down without having to take anything at all of so less hassle than some others.
Also is sturdy as hell. My mum couldnt get a twin through her door either she had to put Jaimee and Teigan inside then get pram folded down and inside.

mel2005 · 21/07/2008 15:08

i think it depends on where your house is, if you have a door on the pavement you cant leave a buggy outside but if you have a drive you would be ok, we have a big drive and gates so i am happy leaving the buggy outside (infact it is outside at the moment). if my twins are asleep and i get home i will just take the carrycot off and either just put it in the house somewhere safe or then fold and unfold the buggy inside and put the carrycot back on. the carrycots are easy to get off the MB with the clips. i havent tried it with the twin carrycot yet but someone on MN did say that it can be folded with the carrycot on. i will try it out later on and let you know i am not sure if it will.

accessorizequeen · 21/07/2008 16:41

Just do not think I could be bothered folding down all the time to take into the house. A twin carrycot with two big babies in would do my back in! I'm looking at an icandy for the car (zooms too new for ebay merry?) and selling it on after 6 months but as mel says seems to be difficult to fold. And my god the instructions are complicated enough! I would have been happy with nipper for home & car tbh but I do think a travel system of sorts would make life a lot easier for the first few months .

MerryMarigold · 21/07/2008 16:56

accessorize, here is a reasonable icandy on ebay at the moment in middlesborough. bit far for us to pick up!

mel2005 · 21/07/2008 18:29

i did think about the icandy pear chassis for the car seats when picking the kids up from nursery but it is alot of money to spend just to use for a few minutes a day for a couple of months.

accessorizequeen · 21/07/2008 18:56

I think so too, but dp is being convincing - depends how much money we'd get back if we resold, I'd buy 2nd hand anyway. I have to do school dropoffs and pickups for ds1 plus nursery dropoffs for ds2 plus anything else, could add up to quite a few minutes.

mel2005 · 22/07/2008 21:32

the MB does not fold fully with the twin carrycot on but it is lovely. i have added photos to my profile. it will be lovely when they are in it.

accessorizequeen · 22/07/2008 21:46

good lord, that thing is massive!! saw lady in boots today with what I think was emmaljunga cerox (adjustable handle?) - lovely but omg it was huge. Her twins looked v.comfy in it though.
