Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

House clean thanks to a massive effort by my parents (but untidy thanks to massive effort by the dds who got all of the toys out of the playroom)....birthing pool assembled, clothes for baby drying.

Just need tissues now...well and lobour to start, but as I have made it clear to the baby it would be foolish of it to arrive before the 8th!

insywinsyspider · 25/11/2007 19:33

Beckle ? ds has been great this week , very conscious of the times I?ve been on here saying what a nightmare he is too so only fair to appreciate it while it lasts ? hope it is just a phase with your ds1, its horrible when they are like that isn?t it? I felt like ds needed more of my time and some activity and I felt like I didn?t actually want to send time with him because he was such a nightmare

Congratulations thelady and to OH! Glad everything worked out so well and hope they are both doing ok x

Cazzy ? full of cold again here too ? just me at the mo and fingers crossed ds doesn?t go down with it when dh is away ? I agree with loucee loads of satsumas!

Melly ? I had tens last time and it was fab, I know its not the same for everyone but I never took mine off till ds was here, hoping mine arrives this week so have it in time.

Pecka ? love Mathilda ? if we have a girl it?ll be Mathilda Claire (although middle name might change?) and buzzy she?ll be a Mattie/Matty too!

Baby hasn?t seemed as active the past couple of days, remember ds doing that before I went into labour, bump has def got lower but I ?m hoping I?m reading too much into it? am fed up of bump too, got my first stretch marks not doing much for how I feel, didn?t get any with ds, hope it doesn?t mean this baby is huge, got mw app tomorrow, hoping she doesn?t measure me big again as I?ll need a growth scan ? last week at work roll on Friday, best mate taking day off work to help me out whilst dh is away ? she?s lovely

Ambi · 25/11/2007 19:35

Tidy house tomorrow, won't take long as not to bad. Got some work to do though (a little work on the side from home), that should keep me occupied most of the week, hope to finish making up 1000 little bags, cos I'm not gonna want to do them whilst Lo is here. No other real plans though, prob finish wrapping pressies and get deccies down from the loft, get Advent calendars up - yes at 26 I still enjoy daily chocs!

Anyone else started taking their Labour bag with them wherever they go?

insywinsyspider · 25/11/2007 19:35

cazzy - what birth pool have you got? I can't decide whether to pump it up went have it or wait till in labour but run the risk of it not being full before I pop (only want to labour in it not give birth in it)

insywinsyspider · 25/11/2007 19:37

ambi - not labour bag but carrying my notes now, just worried I'll lose them somewhere! almost done xmas shopping - what bags do you have to make up? 1000??

Ambi · 25/11/2007 19:43

bags of connectors, dead simple, can do 100 in an hour in front of the telly.

cazzybabs · 25/11/2007 19:43

Ambi - mine has hard sides! It is quite large...and now a feature in our living room (look mummy a swimming pool dd2 announced). Personally I am glad it is up just in case - although we will still havs to fill it...sadly we are having a nightmare with hose and tap fittings...not quite sure what to do????

mellymooks · 25/11/2007 19:54

Ours is a pool in a box inflatable one and only takes 10 mins to put up with electric pump, so we're gonna wait until labour starts. We've got high pressure hot water on demand boiler so hopefully shouldn't take more than an hour to fill it......

insywinsyspider · 25/11/2007 19:56

cazzy - we're borrowing ours from friend (not as gross as it sounds it has disposable liners!) and its a birth pool in a box one that blows up - not had a chance to look at adapters yet just hoping its ok, whats the problem with the tap fittings?

ambi - I love jobs that can be done in front of telly! think thats why I like ironing, I can justify watching some real rubbish

insywinsyspider · 25/11/2007 19:57

melly - x post! same pool when are you due? please let me know how long it takes to fill! we have the pump for inflating, if its that quick I'll wait till I'm in labour otherwise ds will prob reck it

cazzybabs · 25/11/2007 19:58

Oh sorry Ambi - I didn't mean you at all! I did mean Melly (pregnancy brain and all...)

Yes we to have hot water on demnad (hence the need for our central heating to be replaced before baby - which it has). IT is just not sure if we can find an adaptor to get tap and hose to meet!

BTW how hot have you been told your room needs to be..ours gets to about 20oC, but the midwfife said it needs ot be 24...I mean god that is going to impossible!

mellymooks · 25/11/2007 20:02

Insey - due on the 7th will let you know/you let me know if it happens first!! (when are you due?)

Cazzy - mw hasn't said anything about room temp. to us really other than to have heating on and have towels on radiator for baby and me. She has been v. specific about temp of actual pool though.

insywinsyspider · 25/11/2007 20:03

not been told about room temp at all - will ask mw tomorrow, just trying to work out how to keep baby towels warm... hot water bottle? don't have airing cupboard only combi boiler

insywinsyspider · 25/11/2007 20:04

melly - not due till 18th, what temp should pool be? god I 'm completey unprepared - birth pool was a late decision

cazzybabs · 25/11/2007 20:05

Insy - it is just not a tight connection and lots of water leaks out...

mellymooks · 25/11/2007 20:07

It needs to be between 36 degrees and 37 degrees, so you need a floating thermometer so you can monitor it.
Do you have radiators you can put towels on?
otherwise hot water bottle prob. good plan.

cazzybabs · 25/11/2007 20:07

Insy - radiators or on a very low heat in the oven?

We too don't have a airng cupboard - not many people any more I imagine...

mellymooks · 25/11/2007 20:13

Cazzy this is prob a daft pregant lady suffestion but would taping it tightly with gaffa tape help?

insywinsyspider · 25/11/2007 20:13

melly - I've had to order a thermometer as part of the accessories kit (got thermal cover and new liner too)

We only have single radiators so can't drap towel on them... really annoying and nesting hasn't kicked in to extent that I'll be cleaning my oven I though tumble dryer but mw laughed at me - didn't question it at time as put it down to stupid pg thing to say but dh didn't understand why not either (obviously as long as they aren't red hot!) think water bottle might be only way forward

mellymooks · 25/11/2007 20:14

see? i can't even type!! suggestion melly suggestion!!

mellymooks · 25/11/2007 20:16

have you got plastic airer that you could put towels over and lean against radiator? tumble dryer sounds like an excellent idea to me why not?

cazzybabs · 25/11/2007 20:23

Insy - why can't ypu hang towels on a single radiator? Another thick pregnancy quesiotion.

Pointed out tape idea to dh (smug bastard had already thought of it...)..yes we could do, but it is not ideal is it he said!

I don't know about these things....I am only a girl.

Think we have decided on Evelyn Mary for a girl

and something John for a boy (something down to Noah (I can dream), Edward or William)

RGPargy · 25/11/2007 20:27

Evening ladies!

How are you all doing?

Had quite a busy today - went off to B&Q to get curtains, picture and chest of drawers for baby's room. Managed to get the curtains and a picture but couldn't find a suitable chest of drawers. We've also picked up the cot from DP's PIL and have put that up too. So in theory we're all ready to go now!!

Just want this baby out now. I'm due on Tuesday but can see me being late. Just hope it's not too late!!!

mellymooks · 25/11/2007 20:28

Well I think us girls rock! We're doing the hardest bit growing a whole baby!!

insywinsyspider · 25/11/2007 20:30

single radiator is too close to the wall so you can't tuck it behind it and they just fall off (not a stupid question I'm sure every house is different!) like the airer idea, guess dh running off to tumble towels at just the right moment might be pushing it

gaffer tape sounds ideal if you're struggling (i'm an engineer we use gaffer tape for everything! great suggestion melly!)

Evelyn is a lovely name - I liked Noah for ages (still do) dh not so sure but happy to go along with it as he couldn't think of anything, now we've decided on Toby which I love (but hoping for a girl ) will be Toby Nicholas
