Hi all I hope no-one minds but I thought I would start a new one... we are having broadband put in (DP has convinced me that I will be able to spend more time on the phone that way ) but still on dial up now so things were getting rather slow on the other thread!

Things OK here. Thought I would do another list to start off the thread in the right way.... looking towards the end!! I've decided that next tuesday would fit in really rather nicely with all my plans, just need baby to agree!! I'm going to try and not expect him to come before due date really, then I may be pleasantly surprised, and if not, I will be fully entitled to moan and whinge. My ankles really can't take much more. They are about the size of my upper calf and that isn't an exageration!

Just enjoyed my first cup of raspberry leaf tea... not all that bad, but then I have drunk all sorts of strange concoctions from places like neal's yard in my time! So now I've drunk that, labour should be iminent, right?!

Hopefully am going to get my hair done this week with the deposit money (if we get it!) from our old flat... I haven't had my haircut since May . Been trying to let it grow as much as possible, but its been a really slow process. Might have some highlights done too. I've figured I might as well have something about me looking nice, as I don't think anything else will post birth! I have stretchmarks now on my bum, hips, thighs, calves, and really badly on my boobs. Stomach thus far has escaped, but it's these last four weeks which I've heard can really do the damage. Oh well.

Anyway I'll stop my waffling and leave you all in peace! I don't think I've missed anyone on the list, but definately have a pregnancy brain... got stuck half way upside down off the sofa earlier looking for the used lid of my yoghurt pot. I eventually found it in the empty yoghurt pot besides me. Oh dear! Don't think it was a particularly pretty site for DP to be looking at!

Flossam, what a great birth story, and you escaped from hospital so quickly! Well done you, and welcome to little Ben. Hope the stitches aren't bothering you too much, but if so, my advice is - take the painkillers!!!

PandaBear, hope you have a good appointment tomorrow. I also have to go in tomorrow for final growth check. They may or may not scan me again. I suppose it'll just turn out to be another afternoon hanging around in the horrible waiting room - they are always running late, and I find the chairs really uncomfortable. Won't be so bad if I get another scan though, I always like to see that heart beating away.

Riebee · 11/11/2004 10:03

Ahh Flossam- great news congratulations!!
Welcome baby Benjamin

See you on the babies born Nov!

Thinking of all of you who are still waiting, not long now ladies, sending you all good vibes.

Discomonkfish · 11/11/2004 11:11

Congratulations Flossam , sounds like a dream birth (well, apart from the sore bits . I've just had an appointment with the m/w. I'm due to go back again on Thursday next week and then if nothing has happened 8 days later I go in to be induced. I know I should be making the most of this time before the baby comes but I'm soooooo bored!!! I've cleaned the house from top to bottom...maybe that's a sign and my dh is made up because he's got a shirt ironed everyday and sandwiches made for lunch . The only thing is when he gets home from work I'm like 'lets do this / that and the other' and he's knackered. Struggling to make conversation without talking about daytime telly. The dog is knackered as well, he's never had so many walks, even he is avoiding me! My friend is due in Jan and she has been going to a Parentcraft / Antenatal class in the daytime in her area and the good news is I've spotted a class I can go to on Thursday mornings, probably won't end up going now until after the baby is born but it'll be nice to meet up with other mums.

bunny2 · 11/11/2004 13:41

Disco, why not go swimming? I spent the last days of my fisrt pregnancy louging around in a pool, it was so comfortable.

Quacks, thank you so much for your support. This bit is tough and I am permanently in a bad mood (poor dh), I want the baby NOW!

webmum · 11/11/2004 15:11

she's here at last!!!!!

First of all thanks for all your messages of support, you were all very nice, and congrats to Flossam, I think we gave birth in the same day!!

Well here are the gory details:

I had an appointment on Mon and was an induction date and I wasn't too happy so asked the consultant if she could give me an internal hoping all the contractions I'd been having had had some effect, there was no dilation but she said the cervix was v.soft and she gave me a sweep to help things along. I rushed to buy raspberry elaf tea and clary sage oil determined to do everything in my power to avoid induction!!

As it went, contractions started in the evenig ans they had done in the past week, but this time they were a bit more painful and definitely closer. I kept waiting as I was afraid it'd another false alarm, but when I found I had to stop anything I was doing during the contraction I phoned the hospital. we got in at 1.30, was given my room but there was a delivery at the moment so had to wait for waht seemed like ages to examined, and I was already 4-5cm. I was then given gas&air, the pools were both busy unfortunately, and after a bit I started thinking I can't take it any longer, but I did not think I was ready as there were still gaps in between contractions and remembering my first labuor I was convinced I still ahd hours to go! So i screamed for the m/wife who came and announced it was time to push, and in a few pushes out came Isabella at 3.20 am on the 9th, and i remembered to open my eyes and I saw her coming out, it was amazing! The m7ves did teh cord and handed her over to me and left us alone for about half an hour, it was a magical moment. She was 7lb 4 and she is absolutely beautiful (obviously)

DD1 is completely besotted by her, it's hard to keep her away, and she's coping well.

Breastfeeding is going ok, but she seems to sleep an awful lot, hasn't fed since this morning at 9am, (even though that was a top up bottle as Id been feeding her for over an hour and my nipples needed a break) so getting a bit worried about that, but I'm sure she'll make up for it tonight!!!

thank you again for the kind messages, and good luck to those that are still waiting eidsvoid for your csection, arwenstar and bunny2 and all teh others

gingernut · 11/11/2004 16:03

Congratulations webmum! And welcome to Isabella. I thought you'd gone a bit quiet - had my suspicions that something was happening. Have your builders finished yet??

Well, I've just got back from the hospital, where they were actually running on time for the first time ever! Apparently everything looks fine and they think I have a good chance of delivering normally. They want me to ask my community m/w for a sweep on my due date (not looking forward to that much...I think I'd rather seduce dh ) and then I'm to go in on 2nd Dec to discuss induction if I haven't delivered by then, because they don't want me to go too much overdue as the baby will be getting bigger all the time. They also want to monitor the baby during the 2nd stage because ds had breathing difficulties at birth and had to go to special care, which I am a bit disappointed about because I suppose it means no water birth option, but I would rather have a healthy baby TBH.

My BP was up a bit but I think it was by this stage last time, and I can monitor that at home (dh has a monitor because he has diabetes). Also, my urine contained leukocytes. I can't remember the significance of this...will have a google but can anyone remember? m/w said it was nothing to worry about and then scuttled out of the room, leaving me with the gynae, before I could ask her.

discomonkfish, have you done all your Christmas preparations? If not, maybe you could do some of that!! I'm still frantically trying to do mine, and to clean the house which is still in disarray since the decorators left.

Discomonkfish · 11/11/2004 17:00

Congratulations Webmum and welcome to the new arrival. Thanks for your suggestions Christmas shopping could be just the thing I need and I'll give the swimming a go as well x

PandaBear · 11/11/2004 17:39

Congrats Webmum I'm glad it all went well. My appointment was ok but it looks as if I'm going to have to have another c-section at the end of next week. Bit annoyed I have to wait so long but at least the end is in sight!!!!

bunny2 · 11/11/2004 19:38

Webmum, CONGRATULATIONS !!! And welcome to Isabella. You sound over the moon. Hugs to you.

Pandabear, lots can happen between now and next week. You could well avoid a C-section.

Any news from Eidsvold? PErhaps she has managed to avoid her caesarian.

Who else is due v soon? Vivie, Twinkie, Disco and Piper. Come on .... I love reading your good news. The rest of us poor sods have still got a week or 2 to go.

eidsvold · 11/11/2004 19:51

congrats webmum

nope - no avoidance of caesar yet - three days to go.. .very strange this time... last caesar did not have time to think about it - had scan at 9.30 and dd was born by caesar at 11.04. Now I have days to think about this and prepare - as much as one can.

SIL had a vrey vivid dream that this babe was born on the 13th - so who knows...

Christmas shopping is a brilliant idea - I have done some and then yesterday dh and I went shopping and got things we needed and some diy stuff ready for later - just to help take my mind off things.

eidsvold · 11/11/2004 20:00

oops meant to add - off to hospital today for preadmission clinic... ohh sounds interesting.

vivie · 11/11/2004 20:49

a big hello to Benjamin and Isabella - loveley names and congratulations to their mums!

I am due today and am quite obviously not having a baby. Bah! I have been having LOTS of BHs so I'm hoping that they're preparing the way...

I had a dream last night that I had the most delicious chocolate cake ever, but I lost it. I woke up when DH got into bed saying I was drooling, and I realised that I had tears running down my face too. Should I worry????

How's everyone else doing?

arwenevenstar · 12/11/2004 05:27

CONGRATULATIONS Webmum, Isabella is a fab name, in fact we have Isobel picked out for this one if she EVER arrives (note to self..........have baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)Despite not having your water, it still sounds like a great birth. Glad to hear all is well. Try savoy cabbage for your sore nipples, only don't do what my BIL did and bought my sister a load of SHREDDED cabbage!!!!

I am heading along the same route (nearly) as Eidsvold and despite all possible natural intervention on my part, am 6 days away from induction. It's like a big cloud looming. My contractions are there, but not very strong and they don't stick around. I had a bit of a crying day yesterday and then my younger had a bad night, and with not being able to get back off to sleep, thought, it might be a sort of sign......humph here I am.

Still, I WILL get on this November list!

Who else is still to go apart from Gingernut, Eidsvold, Discomonkfish and myself, I am so uselesss I can't remember?

arwenevenstar · 12/11/2004 05:28

Oh god, dur........sorry Vivie, you still have to have yours. I really am awake this morning!

arwenevenstar · 12/11/2004 05:29

Oh and Bunny2 sorry Bunny

collision · 12/11/2004 09:10

And fat, miserable, spotty Collision!!!!!

Due date has changed to a week today so hopefully I wont go into December! None of my clothes fit anymore and I dont want to leave the house.

Another urine test today and another heart check next week....at 8am! I think they do them early to make you get out of bed!

CONGRATULATIONS WEBMUM! GREAT NEWS and I love the name Isabella.

eidsvold · 12/11/2004 09:19

I know what you mean about early appts collision ... mine for pre admission clinic was for 7.45 and it takes us about an hour in peak hour to get to the hospital.... dragged dd and dh too - just did not feel like driving...

BUT on the plus side - my surgery is now for 10.30 so I can be at the hospital at a reasonable time instead of 6am

Anyone else not sleeping well - it has been really hot here again - 34 degrees today, same for tomorrow and supposed to cool off to about 30 sunday .. I am waking up between 4.30 and 5 last two mornings - not sure if I am worrying about the upcoming surgery or what is on my mind but I usually am not even conscious until about 7am....

Hope it all happens soon for the others...

bunny2 · 12/11/2004 09:39

Hello fellow grumps!

Collision, how did you get your due date changed? I want mine changed too please.

Vivie, go get chocolate cake - it is obviously a sign that you need some. I constantly wake up dribbling, it is really disgusting - the pillow is permanently soggy.

Arwen, I was induced with ds, it wasnt that bad at all, I'd definately go for it again of this one runs over by more than a few days.

Good luck everyone.

collision · 12/11/2004 09:45

Bunny.....no idea how the date changed.....probably that it is showing on the scans to be a 28lb whopper! and so they think it will be earlier than they thought.

Feel so guilty that ds is watching so much TV while I am on the pooter! Oh well.

I was induced with ds and it was fine so I wouldnt get too freaked out about it as it didnt hurt at all.

Please let us all be next!!

bunny2 · 12/11/2004 10:27

My ds is watching alot of tv too. Dont feel guilty, you need to look after yourself first and foremost right now. Just console yourself with how much your ds will benefit from his sibling.

arwenevenstar · 12/11/2004 15:54

Yup absolutely, lots to be said for CBeebies at times of need!!!

I suppose I am anxious about induction because I don't want to have to have an epidural or episiotomy, not saying this WILL happen, but I had such a nice natural birth with the last one I don't really want to "spoil" it with an intervened birth, particularly as this one will be our last child. Weird I know!

Tell you what though, it's painful today, she's not moved much, but when she does she feels like she's taking the whole of my uterus with her!!!

I've printed a load of really great colouring sheets and dot to dot off from the CBeebies website as FIL is out next week and may need stuff for entertainment, I'd never been on their site before, it's really pretty good......might make a change from the "square nanny" !!!!

Right, time to go make kids tea

see you all later poor suffering remnants of November!!

PandaBear · 12/11/2004 17:20

Hi All - well my due date is today abd I'm obviously not having this baby today. Fed up but didn't expect to really. I've given up hoping for a natural birth, I think if I keep hoping I'll just end up disappointed. If I prepare for the cesearean then if I get anything else, I'll be really happy, whereas if I do end up with a c section then that's what I'm expecting!!

Hope the rest of you who are still waiting are OK, not too fed up and looking forward to the big day!!

gingernut · 12/11/2004 17:24

LOL at your FIL needing entertainment from the CBeebies site, arwen!

Must go, ds is watching CBeebies but I am supposed to be getting his dinner, will be on again later!

Oh, and PandaBear, Twinkie, Bronze, squigglesmum, Piper and Potpourri still have to go as well I think (some of them haven't been on in a while so who knows....).

gingernut · 12/11/2004 17:25

Posts crossed, PandaBear!

eidsvold · 13/11/2004 05:02

feeling very fat, tired, bloody hot (34 degrees last two days) and uncomfortable... so why do people feel the need to comment on the size of my belly.

Yesterday at the store the woman on the checkout asked me when I was due - I said last week... she proceeded to speed up her service and the woman behind me ( mind you about an inch from my shoulder if that!!) then pipes up with oh I know - I was too afraid to get close..... fgs I am pregnant not contagious....

Today this woman asked when I was due and I said last week.... she then said ohh it looks like it could be today you are carrying very low.... excuse me!!! Am i commenting on your appearance........

Oh bring on Monday 10.30 am and no emergencies before me... So midnight your time I will be wheeling into theatre... can't wait now!
