@IVEgottheDECAF get that pram ordered!!

If it makes you feel better I've been having what I assumed were low down kicks but turns out they must be punches as baby was head down on Monday. getting more punching action than kicking for the last few days actually, just the odd few good take your breath away kicks!!

Hsunshine · 02/07/2019 21:45

I’m starting to beyond stress about a growth scan tomorrow. If baby is still the same that can’t be good, but if baby has gone up what if they don’t want to do my other 3 scans and then something happens Confused

Stroan · 02/07/2019 21:55

@florencenotflo DD wants to be on me all the time. Touching me, lying on me, cuddling me. Which is all lovely but then she wriggles. Between one kicking me inside and another writhing around on my lap, I swear they are ganging up on me!

I get that she is feeling the change but also feel like I just never get a minute of peace to be comfy any more!

@IVEgottheDECAF was always expecting a big baby but feel that such a huge jump in percentiles isn't really normal? Also, it's his tummy circumference which has jumped up the most which isn't a good sign with GD. If the growth continues like this, it will be off the charts in a couple of weeks!

Is there a funny name for when it feels like the inside of your vagina has pins and needles?! That is not my favourite.

Stroan · 02/07/2019 21:56

@hsunshine I really don't think they would do that. In my experience of growth scans, even when something looks ok, they still continue on that pathway as things can change so quickly.

Dyra · 02/07/2019 22:20

First growth scan for me today. Up to the 75th centile, so relieved. Good sized, but not massive.

Baby was firmly transverse however. I've been getting some tremendous movements on both sides, so I think it's been that way for a while. Lots of time still to rotate though, so fingers crossed.

GTT and 28 week midwife appointment tomorrow now, and then boating up and down the Thames for a few hours.

KnobJockey · 03/07/2019 02:53

No scans here yet as they messed it up, hopefully when I'm back at the consultant in 2 weeks he'll arrange it. However my fundal height last week at ,28 weeks and I was measuring about 32 weeks, well over the top of the percentile lines. Nothing done about it so far though.

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/07/2019 06:23

knobjockey i think it says in my notes not to be concerned for one large measurement but to refer if the growth is steeper than the curve of your chart. So once you get a second measurement they may say more

Its really good they are keeping a good eye on everyone with growth concerns. However, someone i know had a csection last week with an apparently tiny baby. Who actually weighed over 9lb!

I HAVE ORDERED MY PRAM

Woohoo!

Puglover88 · 03/07/2019 07:12

My friend was the same! She was recently induced as she had GD and apparently had a huge baby so was induced at 38 weeks. Her baby was 6 1/2lb! 🤷‍♀️ I think there’s a massive margin for error with the growth scans.

Got my GTT this morning as I’m high risk due to the fact that my grandfather was African. Hopefully it’s all good!

Stroan · 03/07/2019 07:22

There can be around a two pound margin of error but normally towards the end, they are more accurate earlier on I think. It's estimated based on tummy circumference, head circumference and femur length. So if the head is down and engaged it's hard to get that measurement.

DD was predicted to be 8lbs and was over 10. This baby is measuring bigger than she was at this stage.

Hello Ladies,

I hope you don't mind me joining so late. I was around on the forum last year and it's taken quite a bit of courage to post today. I've wanted to for absolutely ages as it would be so lovely to join and and talk to people going through pregnancy at the same time but last year I suffered two early miscarriages so found it hard to start posting again.

i'm currently 30+4 and expecting a bouncy baby boy 7th Sept.

So far all good with the pregnancy which is amazing and we are so thankful. I'm still suffering with sickness though... anyone else?

x

Puglover88 · 03/07/2019 08:27

@Stroan that’s interesting to know! My baby’s head was so low down on my growth scan on Friday do hopefully their measurements were accurate!

@PumpkinPatch000 welcome! Sorry to hear about your losses - it definitely makes subsequent pregnancies more anxiety-ridden. Great to hear this pregnancy is going well though! 👍 my sickness stopped at around 16 weeks but I know a few of my friends who have had it throughout - is it severe?

Stroan · 03/07/2019 08:51

Welcome @pumpkinpatch000 think there's a few of us still having the odd spell of sickness. I'm still pretty nauseous and on medication for HG. Thankfully, being sick is rare now.

PumpkinPatch000 · 03/07/2019 08:53

Thank you for the kind welcome @Puglover88 definitely had anxiety at certain points during this pregnancy. Had a couple of scares but thankfully all was okay. I have a feeling I might have it throughout too as my Mum did too. It was bad up until about 17 weeks then was mild nausea until around 22 weeks and since then ramped up again. I haven't actually been sick again yet (hope it stays that way!) but i'm at the point where the nausea is that bad I don't know if i'm going to be or not.. each day it seems to be getting worse. I have acid reflux day and night too which doesn't help.. I really must speak to my midwife and get something for it. How far along are you?

PumpkinPatch000 · 03/07/2019 08:54

Thank you @Stroan. So sorry to hear you have suffered badly with sickness too but really glad the meds have helped. Fingers crossed it continues to keep the sickness at bay.

Puglover88 · 03/07/2019 09:01

@PumpkinPatch I’m 28+3 now - I had bad acid reflux a couple of weeks ago and my GP prescribed me Omeprazole which helped.

happydays00 · 03/07/2019 09:39

Just popping in to say am thinking of you @TwittleBee . Hope all is ok!

BBell2 · 03/07/2019 09:42

@ivegotthedecaf come on then are we getting pictures?! Ive been living vicariously through your decision as I regretfully kept our pram.

Waiting on my growth scan, plenty of women also in their own (always an annoyance chatting rubbish on their mobile isnt there). I didnt mind DH not coming but did tell him to sod off after he forgot to mention it, let me say good luck for his work excersize today and as a parting shot said DDs clothes didnt look right for her nursery photo....but I get to see my baybeee!!!! Grin

PumpkinPatch000 · 03/07/2019 10:02

@puglover88 really glad to hear your GP was able to give you something to help with the acid reflex, it's not pleasant at all.

@BBell2 Hope all goes well at the scan. Have fun seeing your bubs!

Megan2018 · 03/07/2019 10:43

@HEFebery
Cloth nappies-all my close friends used cloth as far back as the 90’s so it never occurred to me to do anything else! As I’m the last of my friends to have a baby (am 41) I’ve been surrounded by it really especially as 2 friends were Nappy consultants when their children were small.

Obviously the brands and choice has changed over the years, now is a really good time for it as there is a lot of choice out there but it is a bit overwhelming.

I started with the Nappy Lady questionnaire and asked for a Birth-Potty recommendation, I bought a selection of what was recommended to try.
I also separately bought some newborn nappies to try too which were not ones recommended but I went a bit mad during Real Nappy fortnight and got some bargains!

I found the You Tube channel
For The Nappy Lady invaluable, she talks through how to wash, different types etc. I have a mix of All in One nappies and Pocket Nappies for newborn and a mix of Pockets and 2 part nappies for when she's bigger.

I would suggest that if your partner is unsure just buy literally a few all in one birth to potty nappies that fit from roughly 8lb up and use maybe 1 or 2 a day and see how you get on. There’s no need to go mad straight away if you are unsure. If you find it easy and win him over (I’m sure you will) you can then gradually increase and look at things like pockets which need putting together but are cheaper and easier to dry than an all in one. The Nappy Lady has a really helpful facebook page for parents with loads of advice, but there are a lot of people on there that are obsessed so don’t let that put you off. It doesn’t need to be all or nothing (its like the hypno birthing and breastfeeding groups-some come across a bit tragic/cultish tbh).

Karigan195 · 03/07/2019 11:22

Just had my 32 week appointment. Little buggers head up again. He was head down two weeks ago 🤦‍♀️.

Growth a little lower than last time. Last time we were just above the 50th percentile. This time just under. Might be because I’ve had a horrid cold I suppose 🤷‍♀️.

Otherwise heartbeat is good. Everything seems ok.

kyles101 · 03/07/2019 11:51

@IVEgottheDECAF woo hoo!! When's it coming??

Hi @PumpkinPatch000 so sorry to hear of your previous losses. It's so hard isn't it, I didn't post til after 12 weeks scan for similar reasons so completely understand. Welcome now though - we're due date buddies!!

Awww @BBell2 so exciting to see bubs.

Glad to hear yours all went ok too @Karigan195

PumpkinPatch000 · 03/07/2019 12:00

Thank you @kyles101 i'm so sorry to hear of your loss too. It's very hard and i've found some people i'm close to don't understand that you still have that anxiety at times. Although the majority are brilliant and very supportive, thankfully.

Awww amazing that we are due date buddies! How are you feeling?
