Internet and forums definitely say no weight or showing until 20+ weeks
I don't know anyone who that is true for!

Missmonkeypenny · 03/07/2019 19:31

Sleeping I’ve defintely put on weight in the last 13 weeks! Everyone is different, I hate that the world is even judging bloody pregnant women for their weights Angry

plipliop · 03/07/2019 21:33

Oh 20 weeks? That is rubbish. I was showing before then with my 1st.

I am feeling a bit better today. I actually cooked a meal with loads of veg and garlic. I haven't cooked or eaten a meal like that for aaages! And I had a mars bar ice cream. Yum. I've been totally off of chocolate and it has made me sad although I'm sure I should be grateful!

Maternity leave: I'm hoping to go til the end of term when I'll be 37 weeks. DS2 was born at 38 tho!

mynameisMrG · 03/07/2019 22:05

That’s rubbish you have to wait until Friday @Mumof4andahalf, here’s hoping it’s just a random bleed and baby is still tucked up nicely

beth3735 · 03/07/2019 23:14

@Mumof4andahalf I wish you all the luck in the world for Friday at your scan.

I’m having a really down day today. I can’t get over the body image issues I have. I booked Canada last year, we go in just over 2 weeks and I was losing weight to go but since being pregnant I’ve gained so much I look crazy fat with no bump. I’m so upset and angry at myself. I have no self control and it doesn’t help when my partner tells me of his friends gf who is only a week behind me but is tiny and isn’t showing at all. 😭😭

I’ve googled to see the minimum amount of calories I can eat a day to keep baby growing but to try and lose weight. Today I feel like crying and thinking I can’t do this 😭

It doesn’t help that I’ve had to stop my antidepressants as I’m pregnant so I’m struggling a bit

Kinsters · 04/07/2019 02:36

Can't believe there's now a March thread! I do feel like these next few months will go quicker, I feel so like myself again and I'm loving it. My appetite has definitely ramped up the last few days, I need to have a snack before bed otherwise I'll wake up hungry.

Beth do you go to slimming world or anything like that? I think the baby will take what it needs from you regardless of how much you're eating, but you need to think of your health as well - don't starve yourself x

Kinsters · 04/07/2019 06:07

Just got the call with NIPT results (well actually they called DH cause my phone number apparently wasn't working). No genetic abnormalities identified and we can pick up the full report at our next appointment.

And, it's a girl!! I think everyone will be quite surprised as DH's family is very male dominated (he's one of three brothers, 80% male cousins/uncles, just very very male!).

Cindy61 · 04/07/2019 06:23

@Kinsters a girl!! So nice!!

I'm waiting for my 12w scan now. Nervous!

plipliop · 04/07/2019 06:39

Congrats @Kinsters !

Ann334 · 04/07/2019 06:46

@Kinsters yay a girl! Congrats all round

Kinsters · 04/07/2019 06:54

Thanks, I'm so thrilled! Had a little cry walking down the street when DH called to tell me. I feel like I'd have had the same reaction to a boy though tbh, I'm just so happy to know! For me it's definitely the right decision to find out in advance.

Botanica · 04/07/2019 07:18

Aww @Kinsters so happy for your news!
Exactly how I felt too when I got the call. It's a lovely feeling isn't it!

beth3735 · 04/07/2019 07:45

@Kinsters I was going to slimming world but stopped since being pregnant as I couldn’t stop the need to eat all the time to help pass the sick feeling. I really need to calorie count though. I did start the gym last week so I’ll stick at that and sort my eating out. I hate when people compare the way you carry a baby to the way others do. More than likely that other girl is on her 1st so naturally carries tighter whereas im on my 4th baby 😭

I’m so please all your tests came back clear and a little girl is amazing 💕💕

Bluebelltulip · 04/07/2019 07:57

@beth3735 comparing you in your 4th pregnancy to someone in their 1st is extremely unrealistic so try not to worry about that. Could you talk to your midwife about what is safe diet wise?

DinoGreen · 04/07/2019 08:03

Congratulations @Kinsters! I’m definitely finding out too but not until the 20 week scan (unless anything unexpected at my 12 week scan next week). I like knowing in advance and planning!

@beth3735 I’ve heard that you shouldn’t try to lose weight but aim to maintain your weight so that you don’t put much more on as the baby grows. Definitely don’t compare yourself to first time mums! I was so smug with my DS that I was barely showing at 20 weeks ... this time round I feel enormous already at 11 nearly 12 weeks!

karryk · 04/07/2019 08:16

Morning ladies.. Is anyone else suffering from acid reflux type issues? I find it ramps up in the evening so I'm struggling to think of dinner ideas which won't exacerbate it. Made the mistake of having a tomato based pasta sauce last night and it wasn't pleasant Sad so far all I have in terms of ideas for dinner tonight is peanut butter on bread Blush

SleepingStandingUp · 04/07/2019 08:23

@kinsters that's fabulous news

@beth3735 I'm back at slimming world, just to try and give me a sense of control. She's supper chill tho, said our aim is to just maintain and then put in in the third. She's even more chill now its twins lol. I need that obligation to weight in to keep me on track

DaisyMay25 · 04/07/2019 08:34

@Kinsters fantastic news! Must be nice knowing so early too in case any cute clothes catch your eye!

@beth3735 I think stopping your medication has got a big part in this. I suffer from mental illness and I know how negativity eats away. Please don't compare yourself to others. As long as you're eating healthy don't beat yourself up. Pregnancy and mental health make us over eat/eat terrible! Be proud that your body is doing this for a fourth time! Weight can always be lost afterwards but you can only enjoy the pregnancy when it's here.

@karryk I suffer from acid reflux anyway but I mostly get it first thing when I wake up. Unfortunately there's a lot of things to avoid. Try taking rennies if you can, they're safe in pregnancy

karryk · 04/07/2019 09:35

Thanks @DaisyMay25 I'll pick some up from the supermarket later! Mine seems to strike in the evening and at bedtime...urgh!

beth3735 · 04/07/2019 10:37

Thank you to everyone who replied, I’m still feeling down about my body at the moment, But I’ve come to the conclusion that if it’s not good enough for people then those people can go and whistle. No one is perfect 🙁
Hopefully when my tummy looks more like a bump rather than flabby I’ll feel better 🤷‍♀️

Cindy61 · 04/07/2019 10:44

My NT is 27mm (30mm is the threshold) apparently too high. I need to see the consultant tomorrow. Completely panicking!! Someone help!!

DaisyMay25 · 04/07/2019 10:49

@Cindy61 my hospital said anything under 35mm is normal so you're still within range. Did you have you blood tests done too?

Cindy61 · 04/07/2019 10:53

@DaisyMay25 the baby was very naughty and refused to cooperate. Spent the whole afternoon there. Probably have blood done first thing tomorrow morning. I just don't know how I'm going to survive tonight with so much worries.

DaisyMay25 · 04/07/2019 10:55

@Cindy61 sounds like my naughty one. I know it's hard but try not to worry, it sounds high but it's not, it's still within the normal range. Hopefully all goes better for you tomorrow x

BowiesJumper · 04/07/2019 11:40

Had my 12wk scan this morning, all good! nuchal measurement of 2mm, and everything else present and correct! The baby was being a bit lazy and she had to poke it a few times!

I was worried because of my fat belly, but she (possibly quite politely) didn't mention it, so it obviously wasn't TOO much of an issue thankfully!

Just got to wait for the blood results now before we tell anyone else... but I'm so happy there was a wriggly baby in there!

Here's a pic of the slightly squashed alien (scanner was pressing down and poking it at the time!)
