Hehe, someone's bound to come along and spoil our fun by actually giving birth before the 1st now!

I just scoffed a massive bowl of porridge, I'm stuffed to the gills actually, just moaning for the sake of it! And anyway, no-one's ever REALLY desperate while they still have the ingredients for choc chip cookies in their cupboard....

Anyone up to anything interesting today? I have some last minute jobs to do, exciting stuff like cleaning the stinky microwave, fridge, my bedroom and the inside of the car. Then I just have to do all the usual housework and it'll be almost ready for mother-in-law! Still not happy about her coming on my due date though, think I'm going to have to do some negotiating worthy of Kofi Annan to get a few more days before the invasion without pissing anyone off!

tokentotty · 27/07/2007 08:45

Your MIL is turning up on your due date ? Am I correct in thinking she's actually going to stay with you too ?
MIne's irritating me enough as everytime I see/speak to her she says "Don't forget, any time, day or night we want to know when you start".

No Bananabump I'm in Brighton! - just found the Canadian site first - guess it's just not talked about that much because it only comes in to play for inductions and I believe can change quite quickly so isn't that exact a guage of how far off you are at all. Blimey I think I'd go crazy if I had my MIL to stay for the birth! Still I guess she could be wonderful in which case it could be great to have her around.. Good luck!

Hersetta · 27/07/2007 09:03

LOL at 25 babies popping out at once.

TT - i love eccles cales - were they easy to make??

Thanks all for your nice words - DH and I sat down and calulated a rough redundancy package value - I certainly won't starve but the thought of going for interviews after such a long time is a horrifying prospect.

tokentotty · 27/07/2007 09:13

Hersetta the Eccles cakes couldn't be easier to make I promise. Buy ready made puff pastry (no-one's life is long enough to bother with doing that home made) then you just need currants, cinnamon, butter and the zest of an orange. Will post the correct recipe and amounts for you or mail the recipe to you if you like ? They really take no time and were so yummy. Hence being asked to make more!
Can't imagine having to interview again so I truly understand your lack of enthusiasm for that. Still, I've often found that these trials we go through can frequently end up with a much better all round result. I'm positive you'll end up with a job that pays better and has better hours and empathetic management which will suit your life as a mother far more.

Hello you lot. Trying to catch up on several days (v flakey internet connection) and wow, none of us have had our babies...

Sorry to hear about your job, Hersetta. Redundo can be a good thing if your prospects of getting another job are good - re conditions, same applies to you as it does to everyone else where you work unless you have a contract which is due to end anyway. And you don't have to declare having children when it comes to finding a new job - I mean men don't, do they? Still, not the kind of stress you need right now.

Had my ECV yesteday and the baby wasn't for turning It was an okay experience made better for a v helpful midwife, gentle consultant and DH holding my hand. Was uncomfortable and painful at points, but nothing truly awful and breathable through the tender points. Baby moved halfway round and then bounced back into position! Bah. So options are an elective c-section (don't fancy much) or labouring in the consultant ward with various provisos (c-section if overdue, c-section if baby doesn't progress etc). Feel disappointed and a bit fed up with having to make decisions about the whole birth thing, but guess it goes to show birth ain't summat you can plan. Also still a small chance for the baby to turn by itself.

My friend had her baby boy on Weds which is lovely news - she had a good labour and was remarkably lucid after the whole experience. Did it all on gas and air!

growingbagpuss · 27/07/2007 09:40

I think I'm quite lucky, not only do I not have a MIL, but my Mum wouldn't dream of being here!! She, and my 2 sisters are due to visit en route to a wedding next friday (3rd) - in order to see the LO - well, if she has arrived..

My Mum says "now you must understand we are not expecting a meal"........ but what she means is, she expects the house to be tidy, and clean, and me looking presentable.... -difficult at the moment and I haven't even had the baby!!

Just discovered another "aid" to comfort - you know those little hand warmer things - where you click the "button" and the gel goes hard, and nice and hot? Well I have them for rowing, as I have poor circulation. I've just found them, and stuck one between my knickers, and tights () - at the base of my spine...LOVERLY!!

tokentotty · 27/07/2007 09:42

Oh Annie, sorry to hear the turning didn't go well. Sounds like you've got a bit of a stubborn little wotsit there doesn't it? Perhaps a bit more reflexology, accupuncture etc combined with visualisation and spending the next weeks on all fours ? Think that's everything they suggest covered anyway
Hey, I could be wrong here but I don't remember ever seeing any pics from your wedding madam....

Annie75

Sorry your evc didn't work.

There is still hope that bump will turn. DD was breech, she turned at the last minute and i had a normal birth.

Having said that i have a midwife app (35wks) at 12pm today and if this one is still breech i will have to have a scan next week. I have to say it has moved from where it was but not sure if it has turned completely.

Annie75 · 27/07/2007 10:07

Ooh, did she Lizzie? How far gone were you when she turned?

Am feeling a bit sore and fed up this am But yep, TT, will keep trying all those things in hope. It must be a boy, I reckon, as it's playing silly buggers already.

Ah yes, pics... Didn't bother trying from work and wi-fi at home has been rubbish. But now I'm online, I'll try and set up a profile. Was nice to see yours from the Bluewater meet up.

BabyMadandBIGbump · 27/07/2007 10:29

Hi ladies!

Still here 39 weeks today, (had both DS in my 39th week) had a very bad nights sleep AGAIN so feeling like shi£! With DS's I never had this "is this it" feeling at all, so feeling very dishearten at the moment, DH said must be a girl because baby has been a pain in the bum from the off, but I'm unsure! I did have a long think last night about what is to come, the labour and birth, the PP bleeding, night feeds, new born crying and so on, so I quickly thought to myself I can wait as long as it takes, any way they cant stay in there forever, LOL!

Back l8er!

lizziemun · 27/07/2007 10:31

I saw midife at 36 weeks she was still breech, was due to midwife again at 39 weeks, but was born that day (got dh to phone and say sorry the i wouldn't make the app) we didn't know she had turned, so it was right at th elast moment.

Washersaurus · 27/07/2007 11:46

Hello everyone, just checking in so you know I haven't popped yet .

Am feeling much more chirpy today after DH came home early yesterday and apologised for his terrible temper (no bunch of flowers though ). Oh well I'm sure I'll get some soon enough.....

I have got so much going on now that am actually hoping the baby holds off for while....We have new sofa being delivered on Monday so baby CAN'T come then, and the flippin' HV keeps ringing to arrange DS' 2 yr assessment which she hopes to do on Friday apparently (even though I left message to explain I am due to give birth on Weds) !

Also, I'm still not sure when my flashy new P&T will arrive from Florida courtesy of my lovely mum!

I have my fingers crossed (and am sending positive 'head-down' vibes) for those of you with stubborn breech babies in the hope that they will turn in time.

jem1969 · 27/07/2007 11:49

Hello everyone

Don't have time to read all the messages, but AM I FIRST ?

Our little girl was born last Friday. Only got out of the hospital last night hence the lack of posting. I was only 36 weeks but apart from a few initial worries, everything is fine and we are now safely at home (which is a bit of a shock after being in hospital so long!)

All I can say is GET PACKING THOSE BAGS- I went in with nothing as thought I had a bad stomach ache and thought I should be checked oout and was in fact at 6cm.
No time to write an more now but will go into more detaiil if anyone wants later hopefully.
I think I should really be starting a new thread but not sure how to- TT, can you help!?
Bye for now!

growingbagpuss · 27/07/2007 11:51

Awww....what lovely, lovely news to wake up from my little nap to Jem. Am so pleased for you and definitely more than a little that you've got your beautiful daughter with you now.
Will happily start you a thread but think it definitely needs to be YOUR choice of title so you just come back on whenever you can manage and I'll sort it all out for you, no problem.

Hersetta - Would you like to CAT me and I'll email the recipe to you this afternoon/evening ?
