ooh yeah, x posts.... Glad to hear you're getting some much deserved rest there conker, you did sound quite stressed last week, understandably!

Less than 2 weeks to go for you now, eh? Sounds like things might be gearing up for you with him dropping and you getting your braxtons, I haven't had any for a few days, but he does feel quite low. I'm half "come out, I want to meet you! and half "stay in, it's gonna hurt!" lol

growingbagpuss · 22/07/2007 11:14

I know wha you mena about the sleep thing - I had one catch up night last week, when DH slept downstairs (bless him), and last night I had such strong tightenings I wondered if I should ring the midwives (I know, I'm the one who said, you'll knwo when you're in labour!!) - so i kicked him out of bed again, but lay awake in some degree of discomfort for 2.5 hours. Finally fell asleep v soundly uhntil DS woke at 6.20.

Tightenings all gone, but like you Conketree, feel like LO has dropped again. Only really notice it when I'm standing up - the bump looks different.....

COME ON BABIES!!!!!!!!!!

MrsBadger · 22/07/2007 16:16

oh, it does sound like some of these babies are (as DH puts it) locked and loaded ready for the off...

Went to a wedding at the weekend feeling huge and blobby only to find my bump totally eclipsed by that of someone in their seventh month, which made me feel a bit more svelte.
Did mean several mad old aunts didn't spot I was pg at all though, to the extent that one made my give up my seat for her husband (all of 60 and apparently as fit as a fiddle) whilst muttering about young people today.

Also met our best mates' 3week old for the first time and (terrifyingly) realised that at 9lb and a bit, he's the size DH was when he was born.
I kept looking from Gethin to the bump and back and thinking 'there is no way he'd fit in there...'

Will post a picture if I can manage it, just because I've seen you all in the Bluewater meetup pics and feel I should reciprocate...

Ceolas · 22/07/2007 17:00

MrsB, my DS was 10lbs at birth!

MrsBadger · 22/07/2007 17:37

now please post about what an easy labour you had with him etc etc

please...

GillL · 22/07/2007 18:33

Had quite a productive day today. Got a yoga ball as I'm finding it uncomfortable to sit on the arm chair even with several cushions propping me up. Also got a new bathroom cabinet (dh was supposed to have done the grouting this weekend but couldn't be bothered). We were out for almost 4 hours and I'm knackered. Tried to get a nap in when I got home but dd wanted to come up with me and kept climbing on me so I'm still really tired. Should be able to get a nap in tomorrow and Tuesday as dd will be at mum's and dh will be picking her up after work. Also got my hospital bag packed this morning. It's now in the car ready for anything!

growingbagpuss - forgot to answer your questions from Friday. dd normally gets up just before 7am and goes to bed between 8 and 8:30pm. Sometimes she will sleep when my mum goes to pick the kids up from school but normally she sleeps in the car on the way home (around 5:30). We have to wake her up after a couple of hours but she is normally asleep again by 9pm. She rarely sleeps more than 10 hours a night regardless of whether she has had a nap in the day. I wish I could get her to sleep longer. I've told dh that he will have to deal with her bedtimes and get up with her at the weekend when the baby arrives. I can't be getting up with both of them. I'm quite expecting to start hearing 'but I've been at work all day' again. He won't get away with it this time. It's far easier to sit at a computer all day than look after a child even if you do spend some of the time watching tv. And he will expect me to do all of the housework again.

myweegirl - when dd went to a childminder she had a 2 hour nap after lunch every day with no fuss. I don't know how she did it. I'm also going to do my best to get baby into a sleep routine and make sure he goes in the cot. When dd was a baby dh worked nights so I had to let her sleep downstairs. She has never slept at the same time two days in a row. Maybe she just doesn't like routine.

He was an OK birth. About 6 hours labour. I felt every bit of him coming out. But he was the 3rd so everything was, you know, stretched down there already!

Still, no intervention, no stitches...

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 22/07/2007 21:16

Hello all. So we're all still here then? Anyone getting any 'signs'? I'm feeling as tight as a drum, but nought else which is prob a good job as I'm going to have the baby turned on Thurs...

Gah, typical, eh? I finish work and then get home and find my internet connection not working. Been doing some fiddling and finally managed to get online, but this wi-fi business is a pain. So, relieved to find everyone well

Where's our summer gone? It's been sooooo rainy...

MrsBadger · 23/07/2007 10:22

summer? hah
I'm having an enforced working-from-home day as there's three feet of water between me and the lab...

tokentotty · 23/07/2007 10:34

Blimey MrsB, what area are you in ?? Was your house etc ok when everywhere flooded ?

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well. Sorry I've not posted for ages but have been very busy finishing work and we also have the inlaws staying with us at the moment.

Lovely to see the photo of some of you at Bluewater you all look blooming.

Well I'm 38+2 and junior has been 3/5 engaged for the last couple of weeks and I think he squeezed even further down this morning been awake since 4.30am and had to get up and sit on the birthing ball at 5.30 as I was so uncomfortable. But I'm mentally telling myself I've got three weeks to go as DS1 was 10 days late and every day after my due date seemed to last forever.

MrsBadger · 23/07/2007 11:07

I'm in Oxon where the worst is yet to come (Thames likely to break its banks this afternoon). The house is fine but getting out of town is tricky so we are staying put!

Babbit · 23/07/2007 11:09

Hi, I have been missing in action for ages, due to being at work and only having dial up at home. Am on mat leave now and have a shiny new computer and broadband which makes life a lot easier. It felt funny posting from work when I am part time, and should have my nose to the grind stone.

Glad to hear everyone is well and all are nearly at the last hurdle. Bibithree who I remember from the very early days has apparently had her twins and I wonder if anyone knows anything?

I have the usual aches and pains. The midwife says the baby's head is high, which happenend to me last time causing premature rupture of the membranes, so I am bouncing on my birth ball to try and encourage his/her head to engage!

GillL, you have a toddler the same age as mine. What have you done to prepare them for the new arrival? My dd knows what is about to happen, but I would like any tips if anyone has any.

Will try and catch up with this thread, but I fear bubs will be born before that happens!

bananabump · 23/07/2007 12:42

Hi Babbit, haven't seen you post before but I only joined MN in abooout...april/may? Welcome back anyway, glad to hear everything's ok!

Well, I'm off for my last growth scan today to see if the midwife was right when she put one hand on my bump and said "ooooh, he's a big one!"

If he's more than 6.5lb I'll eat my hat to be honest.

SweetyDarling · 23/07/2007 12:48

Good luck BB!! I have another growth scan on Wednesday. Here's to all the little smidges!

lizziemun · 23/07/2007 13:31

God do i envy all you due at the beginning of august. I'm 36 weeks on thursday and feel like i am carring around a 14lb bowling ball.

I am hoping that this on comes a week early like last time.( maybe i should pack my case and do birth plan ).

DD was 9lb 4oz and i am hoping this is no bigger. Will ask the midwife on friday what she thinks.

growingbagpuss · 23/07/2007 13:32

stretchmarks - interesting you say abuot disurbed nights and baby moving down - that's what I've had the last 2 nights - really really sore bump at about 1.00am, agony to turn to do anything - and then, lo and behold - this morning I can lie flat on my back and BREATH for the first time in 6 months! So LO has clearly moved again.

Each time she shifts down I also get this major need for a poo (TMI sorry) - which I kind of take as being positive too....

lizziemun · 23/07/2007 13:44

Sorry i'm 35 weeks on thursday, see how badly i won't this to over

bananabump · 23/07/2007 13:48

I just feel like my pelvis is never going to be the same again. Sorry for being melodramatic but that's how it feels!

I really am torn, I so want him out but I'm so not ready to have a baby. I'm having last minute jitters after seeing my niece's big 5 1/2 month old boy yesterday who was grumpy and grabbing everything and drooling and pooing and their whole family's lives now totally revolve around him.

I had an "Oh God, I'll never read a book from cover to cover/spend a couple of hours practising makeup and hairstyles/get plastered and fall asleep in my clothes again!" moment. (Although to be honest they were things I only did when I was a teenager)

When they left my big sister said "it's ok, they come out small, and it's different when it's your own anyway" so I must have looked a bit terrified lol

TOO LATE NOW anyway!
