Hi all

Hope we are all hanging in there ok, apart from the uncomfort.

TT- I just love that photo on your profile of the hands, it is gorgeous.

Love the meet up pic too. You all look positively blooming I look about the same size, sometimes i catch myself in the mirror or a window and can't believe how big I look

I had a scan yesterday to check on growth, all was well and LO measuring about a week behind, doesn't feel like it though.

Only just started organizing, washing and packing things today, I have just been too tired.

What is everyone else up too? Is the weather getting cooler or warmer there?

growingbagpuss · 20/07/2007 12:16

Washy - fair enough - sorry, didn't mean to seem patronising - forget who has been there etc...

I also think I had a wierd experience - my waters went v suddenly, but no contractions. so I "knew" I was in labour, even though there was little happening. when i started getting contractions they were like nothing on this earth -so there was no doubt -esp as waters had gone. Wonder if it'll be the same this time?

Uki · 20/07/2007 12:24

Oh i see it is quite rainy there, probably better than being hot though.

Washersauraus- I'm scared stiff about my ds coping without me/us too. He is majorly attatched to Dad and me, we haven't been able to leave him at all. we are trying to get him happy at pre school, but so far he has only lasted one unhapy hour without us.
Not sure what I'm most scared of (1)the birth (2) What will happen to ds when I have to go to hospital.

Washersaurus · 20/07/2007 12:49

Oh GBagpuss you didn't sound patronising - it is weird not knowing if it will be the same this time around as with DS though.

Gawd I just hope it doesn't happen really suddenly; my sister nearly had her 2nd one in the car on the way to hospital. She was in such a rush to leave the house she forgot to take her notes!! Mind you it was all over and done with in about 4 hours and she went straight home from the delivery suite; I think DS would like it if that happened.

Uki, I just keep trying to convince myself that DS is very resilient really and will hopefully cope . He does go to nursery 2 days per week quite happily (most of the time), so he is sort of used to not being with me, but like I said he really does rely on his routine to keep him settled.

I have to say I'm quite jealous of TT's pics on her profile too. I haven't managed to get 1 decent pic of this little one yet (except for a foot!) despite the numerous scans we've had.

bananabump · 20/07/2007 13:46

Well, I did go back to bed and although I feel better for the sleep, I'm now convinced my right leg is slightly out of joint. I seem to have a full range of motions (albeit slightly painful) with my left leg, and I can rotate it, lift it etc, but my right leg just isn't playing.

I can't lift it or seperate my legs at all when lying on left side, and the pain if I try to rotate it or get it to sit naturally (flat with toes facing up to the ceiling) in its socket if I just lie flat on my back is pretty bad. I have no idea what to do with it! I feel it needs to clunk back in but I'm scared it will really hurt. Can't afford an osteopath that's for sure...

GillL · 20/07/2007 15:53

Just managed to get dd to sleep. Tried putting her in her room but she just screamed for 45 minutes and I ended up in tears and couldn't cope so I had to bring her downstairs. She's so good at going to bed at night now that I thought she might be ok in the day (she's never napped in her room during the day at home) but I was wrong. I'm just wondering how the hell I'm going to cope with her and a newborn when I'm fed up with her after 1 week. I remember telling my colleagues that I'll wish I was back at work a week into my maternity leave. God, I must sound awful. I love dd to bits but when she won't sleep and is being a real pain I find it hard to deal with, especially when I'm tired. Someone please tell me it's not going to be that bad!!

boobooma · 20/07/2007 16:26

GillL, I'm with you on the frustrating toddler refusing nap nightmare. Its getting tricky now that I'm getting more knackered and feel like I really need a break from ds during the day. Usually resort to planning a trip out which involves driving back at about 12 when he's likely to go to sleep in the car then hopefully stay asleep while I manhandle him into his cot. I'm hoping that once the baby is here, well after the first few weeks, we can get into some kind of routine.

bananabump · 20/07/2007 16:26

Gill, I don't know anything about kids (yet!) but you could probably benefit from a nap too, is there any way you could have quiet time with her, both go for a nap on your bed? She might settle down then. Perhaps you can get her used to doing that, and then sneak off, or read?

Poor you though, it must be so much harder for you guys with kids already, I couldnt imagine going through this and not getting 5 minutes peace either, I'm going to leave having another til this one is out of nappies (maybe even shaving)

I am going to ask my consultant about my hip pain on tuesday, a "fembrace" has been mentioned, hope it'll help!

growingbagpuss · 20/07/2007 17:02

GillL - you poor thing - I'm quite lucky as DS positively LOVES his midday sleep -to the point where I have to wake him after 2 hours!

What time does your DD wake up and goto bed?
If you manipulate her night time sleep, she might be more tired during the day? But if she's never had a sleep at home in the day it might be tricky... did she sleep in the day at nursery/ Childminder?

My DS drives me mad after only a couple of days - simply the constant chattering. He does at least play on his own a bit now, but I do worry about what we're going to do when he wants time and I'm trying to b/f LO... which is why one of his presents "from" the baby is the DVD!!

myweegirl · 20/07/2007 20:17

big hug to you gill - i know how you feel! i'm the same with DDs nap during the day - and tend to do something in the morning so that when we are driving back she falls asleep. however, i can't transfer her from car to bed as she wakes up. so very often i am sitting in the car reading whilst she snores for an hour.

strangely at childminders she goes to sleep in the buggy straight after her lunch - no problem what-so-ever!!!?

i think baby is going to have to fit in with DDs routine....also going to try and sort out the sleeping with this one from an early stage.

Augustbride · 21/07/2007 12:33

Do we have our first August birth???

Just seen that Weasley Wonka has posted on birth announcements (and mentioned that she was 3 weeks early)

Could that be the same person as Willy Wonka (due abut 10th Aug I think) ???

SweetyDarling · 21/07/2007 12:52

Looks like it!

itchyncsratchy · 21/07/2007 13:02

ooh so have we started now?

I had visit from midwife this morning, told me if I was to go into labour this weekend (I'm only 35+5) I should call an ambulance immediately and go straight to the hospital as baby's most likely still breech and I've polyhydramnios. Dun dun derrr!!!

But I have no plans for labour yet, lots of shopping to do and a few more weeks of sleep due please.

bananabump · 21/07/2007 13:03

I've asked if it's her. do you think all our lurkers are off cuddling their newborns and it's just us regulars who are all going to be on time?

38 weeks today and I think I'm going to start giving him a little shove, I want him out now, it's just getting too uncomfortable.

growingbagpuss · 21/07/2007 13:39

someone dropped? how unfair ! it would be typical if the lurkers ddo go off and give burth and leave us to suffer... sorry quiet typing s DS being a pain and not sleeping...

my own fault for telling GillL he was a really good day napper!

MY pelvis and erm.. groin all ache today, like there is EVEN more weight on them than before. Feel like a little old lady hobbling round the house.

I agree with you bananabump - 38 weeks is MORE than long enough and it is time the aliens released our bodies and gave us a baby...!

Uki · 21/07/2007 14:01

Oh that's exciting it would seem weird not to have one early arrival. My ob keeps saying how 37 weeks is full term so i have that in my head.

I'm only 36+4 and if i go out at night everyone is in a panic ringing my mobile

I've had to tell my mum, stop worrying i would call you if I'm going to the hospital.

GillL · 21/07/2007 19:22

Thanks for all the support guys. Dd will sleep if we go out in the car after lunch. I'm lucky that she will generally stay asleep if I transfer her to her bed. I really fancied a day indoors yesterday. Maybe I will have to plan at least one trip out every day when she is with me. I don't really want to risk going out in my last week though (if I make it that far) but the girl next door is quite happy to have dd over to play with her dd so I can have a rest. The only problem with them playing together is that we always get nits when she's been over there.

I bought some toiletries today so that I can put them in my hospital bag. I really must get round to sorting it out tomorrow or Monday.

Went to see my 10 week old nephew today. I must still have the knack as I managed to wind him and get lots of burps and when he started whinging I got him to sleep. I'm not going to kid myself that it's going to be easy though - just happy that I haven't forgotten what to do.

Ceolas · 21/07/2007 19:28

Oh Gill, you have my sympathy. My DD1 was just 18 months when DD2 was born. I remember weeping towards the end of that pregnancy when she refused to nap in the afternoon

Babylovesmuffins · 21/07/2007 20:59

Well that's me on ML now. Finished work yesterday and it was a bit emotional Had a little cry when I got home last night but not for long Determined that LO and I are going to enjoy the next few weeks of rest (hopefully)!!

Hope everyone's ok. Banana I hope your SPD has eased a bit - not long to go now. GillL - I hope you've managed to get a bit of sleep.

Had a busy day of people dropping in today - one with 10-wk old and another with 9-month old. Have to say I felt a bit - just want mine to be here now

Also have to report that DH made it home safely last night from his last night out for a while and I didn't go into labour while he was out drinking, which I was slightly scared of. Although I found out later that he wasn't allowed to keep his mobile with him (he was at the Open in Carnoustie) so I'd have been well stuck if things had started moving - he did check in with me every couple of hours though when he managed to find a phone!!

Babylovesmuffins · 21/07/2007 21:04

Oh and I meant to say that I'd be up for the texting buddy thing too...

Oh, and I love the pic of the RL meet-up! You all look really well.

bananabump · 22/07/2007 10:37

Yay for maternity leave! Make the most of it!

My right hip clicked back into its joint yesterday and about 70% of the pain vanished, such a relief you wouldn't believe. Bit worried about my hips during labour now if they're so unpredictable! But I'm sure everything be ok.

Went to possibly my last night in with friends last night, they drank and smoked (outside) and I scoffed quality street, we all watched some 80's tv and had a laugh til 2am. The baby scared them all by repeatedly headbutting my cervix and making me wince. Probably put them all off having babies now lol

Off to see my great nephew today (No-one should be a great-aunt at 25!) who is 5 months old, so hopefully will get some practice cuddles in.

Hope everyone is having a lovely lazy sunday!

conkertree · 22/07/2007 10:37

morning folks - getting my pregnancy chat fix while i can - on dh's computer at work.

Signed up for that pc world deal yesterday - broadband with orange for 14.99 a month and a free (or almost free) laptop, so hopefully will be online at home in the next week or two.

Feel as if tyhe head has dropped some more since friday so am trying to send postive 'come out any time now' thoughts to the lo. Got stronger braxton hicks five or six times yesterday, so hoping that it means things are gearing up for some action (although might just be wishful thinking).

since that long sleep on thursday, hasnt been quite the same - back to the sore hips thing, so think i was just very tired after working pretty hard to get finished up on wed. Has been so nice being able to have the odd nap in the afternoon though - quite a luxury - sorry to those with toddlers already as I imagine that would be quite hard for you.

conkertree · 22/07/2007 10:39

posts crossed there banana - sounds like a fun night - dont think i could have stayed up that late now though. friends who are teachers keep offering to come and entertain me just now since i've started ml and they are all on holiday, but really cause i only stopped on thursday, I'm very much not bored yet, and would really just like some time on my own in the house to tidy and sleep.

But dont want to put them off too much as will probably be desperate for adult company in a month or twos time.
