Hope this works....! Here's hoping July is the month for

  • proper bumps not fat looking tummies
  • feeling them move!

This babies heartbeat is consistently above 155bpm

Do you think its a girl?

JARM · 06/07/2007 12:57

I would say so pecka - dont quote me, but every experience Ive had and those around me, the higher it is, the likely hood is its a girl.

Someone will probably prove me wrong, but ive not known anyone in RL yet to prove me wrong!

Bimblin · 06/07/2007 13:12

Does anyone know - I missed having a nuchal scan as I wasn't bothered but have since had the fear put into me by my mother saying I'm high risk because my dp is 47 - can I get another test, how and when?

BecklePhoenixBird · 06/07/2007 13:54

Hiya all!
Neuro how lovely to hear you so excited! I think there does come a point where you realise it is all real, I'm not quite there yet but its a wonderful feeling! Lucky you with only 5 lbs weight gain so far! I was feeling quite smug last week as when I had my Triple Test done last week I had only put on about 4 lb. Had it done again today and have put on nearly 1/2 stone since Thursday!!! That gives me around a 10 lb gain so far...
I love those baby wraps Loucee, they are just what I have been looking for! I had a beautiful fleece which would wrap and popper around the baby for DS2 but I lost it and have been searching the net looking for something like it (with no luck) but that wrap is perfect, may have to get one of those...
I don't know about calm pgs producing calm babies though, pg with DS1 was very stressful and he was a very calm baby. With DS2 I was much calmer but he wasn't! I might ask MW at next appt how fast baby's heartrate is, would be interesting to see if the theory is right!
Mad4Girls I do know what you mean about people assuming which sex of baby you want depending on what you already have, it drives me mad! When I was having DS2 I really wanted another boy and people were like, "oh well, are you going to try again for a girl?" - WTF???!! This time I would quite like a girl but TBH I will be just as over the moon with another boy cos they are lovely!
Hi to everyone else

BecklePhoenixBird · 06/07/2007 13:56

Bimblin, if you are really worried about risk of DS you could possibly still have the Triple Test if your area offer it? That needs to be done between 14 and 20 weeks and will test for risk of Downs, Edwards and Spina Bifida - might be worth an ask if you are worrying?

Bouncingturtle · 06/07/2007 14:12

Yep I too go gushy when I see tiny babies, can't wait for mine
Neuro - congrats, glad you are happy.
Thelady - yep I'm going to have nightmare baby too I reckon!!

Mrswizz · 06/07/2007 14:18

Bimblin - don't worry, my DH is a similar age and my nuchal test was fine. Don't let your mother worry you too much.

Bimblin · 06/07/2007 16:19

Thanks Mrswizz, good to know.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 06/07/2007 19:12

Hi everyone
Had a bad couple of days with SPD and whilst lying in bed been worrying about movements not starting yet.

So I rang hosp today and went to EPU where they reassured me by finding heartbeat and telling me that the placenta is at the front and therefore cushioning any kicks.

The trip there was awful and by the time I got in the hosp i convinced myself the baby was dead.

Wish I could fast forward this pregnancy as I dont think nerves will make it

mad4girls · 06/07/2007 20:04

aww chocolate peanut i have days like that

my mw is not so sympathetic, nice to know your EPAU is willing to do a scan to put your mind at rest

hope your feelin better now your minds at rest

wish i could fast forward to the end of summer holidays not looking forward to it if this rain carries on cant bear ebing stuck in everyday as we dont drive

mad4girls · 06/07/2007 20:08

oh meant to ask who was it that said their dd was in mother and baby?

was that the magazine? page 146/7?

was it a pitcture of a little fair haired girl looking a white board

she was so cute if that was yours could just eat her up if it was another random child ill blame pregnancy hormones on confusion

Bouncingturtle · 06/07/2007 21:33

Chocolatepeanut, poor you know how you feel, I've been there been hard pressed to convince myself this pg is going to make it to full term. Hope you start feeling more positive soon.

Neuro · 06/07/2007 22:01

Chocolatepeanut i hope you have a nice weekend and relax and think that everything will be OK xxxx

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 06/07/2007 22:15

Thanks everyone
xxx

kerioke · 06/07/2007 22:21

chocolatepeanut I really feel for you, i spent yesterday laid up with SPD and cant wait until my hip brace turns up next week to relieve things a bit, but to have the added stress and worry about lack of movement must be awful. I am so glad all is well with the heartbeat, is it likely the placenta will get shifted or will it always be at the front?? i know its a worry now, but in a few weeks when kicks get really strong you'll feel and see those cute podgy little feet whatever is in the way!

I found soemthing really strange earlier, before this pregnancy we suffered an early mc, a matter of days before that loss i called a psychic. She told me my next HEALTHY pregnancy would be within the next 3 months (so i thought she was rubbish as i'd just had BFP), then she said it would be everything i had ever feared, but turn out to be everything i could ever wish for.

Well 3 months later no BFP so wrote her off for the second time.. looking back at my dates i would have concieved within the 3 months, but not found out til after... also when i was carrying ds 1 and 2 i kept dreaming of giving birth to a red haired daughter. I come from a male orientated family (i was the last girl 25 years ago!) and dp side has had an 18 year gap since last girl... and our ds has a slight red tint in certain lights, thoguh he is usally blonde and their is red in the family... so watch this space!!

ANy one else had similar??? either similar hopes, fears or dreams or perhaps even psychic readings come true??

buzzybee · 07/07/2007 00:42

No not exactly, but was convinced last time she was girl and this time feel the same although DD is very keen for it to be a boy. And although the nuchal risk came back at 1:20 I'm also very positive that everything's fine. But maybe its because I wanted a girl last time and do again this time and of course want everything to be fine so somehow have convinced myself it will be? I think there's a reasonable chance it will be a girl because I've already had a girl and the baby's father has also had a girl previously (diff mother!).
Neuro - how're things with your baby's father? I had a dream last night that I bumped into my baby's father in a cafe - seemed very real - even tho have heard nothing from him for 8 weeks now.

Nbg · 07/07/2007 09:37

Hugs to you Chocpeanut.
As crappy as the SPD is, take it as a good sign. Its all those bloomin hormones

I am not impressed, baby has decided it likes to be up late. Just when I thought it had eventualy stopped, it started with hiccups
Took me ages to get to sleep!

Housemum · 07/07/2007 10:40

Mad4girls - yes, that's my DD! - holding a crayon, wearing a little denim skirt or shorts. Was about 2 years ago as she's 4 now, she was just turned 2 then.

thelady · 07/07/2007 10:46

The sun is shining

BecklePhoenixBird · 07/07/2007 11:42

I was told by a medium earlier this year that not only had I lost a baby but that it was a boy and he was with my Mum (who died a few days before baby probably did) - I sobbed! I was also told that although I didn't think it I would be happy again and he would return to me when the time was right. This is why DH is convinced we are having another boy. Although saying that my friend's 3 year old said (without prompting) that there was a girl baby in my tummy! Me, I'm not sure and don't mind too much TBH.

Had my first person yesterday ask me if I was sure I wasn't having twins! When I said there was only one she then asked me if I was sure of my dates! 2 scans say I am! I am not too tall but very short in the body so baby has nowhere to go but outwards! Still, don't think anyone asked me quite this early with the DSs.

BecklePhoenixBird · 07/07/2007 11:43

Not sure if this baby will be a hiccuppy one or not (the DSs were) but I keep getting them out of the blue! Anyone else found this?

Bouncingturtle · 07/07/2007 13:01

Yes I've been getting them too..

bambino1andbump · 07/07/2007 16:48

Hi all! I read a thread from pecka the other day about her hiring a doppler. I did too and baby's heart beat was 155! Is that normal and does it mean anything?

PeckaRolloverAgain · 07/07/2007 17:56

155 is around what mine is - a girl i reckon!!

Neuro · 07/07/2007 20:36

hey everyone
hey buzzybee - the baby's father and I are speaking again. He's said sorry for being an idiot, but it didn't really bother me that much i set out to do this on my own and if he wants to be idiotic then that's up to him. We never actually argue about baby stuff ironically. Well, not yet. I expect we will when it comes to religion as he is Catholic and i think will want it christened and all that stuff, and apols to any Catholics reading this, but this is not a church with principles that i agree with. Anyway, mustn't pre-empt arguments.
I climbed up a place called Golden Caps in Dorset today which is 191 metres above sea level, i was leading the way and none of my pals are preggers. Felt good to be outside AT LAST in the sunshine getting fit. Got in the car and fell asleep all the way home! Can't wait to climb into bed tonight...!
