MrsWizz/MotherofZ - I have put on the same as you, and I put on 3.5 stone with DD and was so sure I wouldnt let that happen again...but could be going down the same route. Trying hard to be healthy but my cravings are always chocolate or ice-cream based, not for carrots or apples! I have never met suey2 but with a 4lb gain at 18 weeks you could start to dislike someone !! Only kidding suey - just v jealous!

suey2 · 05/07/2007 18:37

my secretary says there are some slow starters, but they really catch up in the end!
I have had no cravings which has helped- and really am eating loads! (gratin dauphinous with smoked mackerel, anyone?)

macdoodle · 05/07/2007 20:50

10 lbs here too
I have just recently lost 4 stone down from 15 st to 11 st and I am only 5ft2 so gutted - am tring hard but been really sick but craving carbs carbs carbs.....
Will have to work hard after am determined NOT to go back to my size 20 Had got down to a 12-14

BeachBunni · 05/07/2007 21:05

Cheers for the muslin info. Think I was looking in the wrong places - tescos etc.

I'm not even going to weigh myself anymore. Tis too depressing. Starting to get the nice rounded pg shape now - dp said to me last night I look def preg rather than just chunky now (nice eh?) I quite like it. Makes me feel all feminine and womanly, before I turn to the human hippo stage.

Mother2be - about movements I think it's quite common to feel it every now and again as there's room in there to move about atm. Later on there's no room so you feel it more consistently. I've felt the odd thing sometimes and then nothing for ages.

Bouncingturtle · 05/07/2007 21:32

Good grief you all have been busy!
Looking rather pregnant now at 15+4 weeks.
Still getting m/s thoutgh. Tomorrow I'm going for my triple test at the AN clinic.

Oops computer went funny!

Loucee · 05/07/2007 22:54

Hi everyone

wow, not checked this thread for a few days and there's so much to catch up on!

Hello to anyone new!

I think I am feeling the first flutters (at 16+3), and my bump is definately a bump now rather than looking fat. I think I'm going to be huge this time whereas with DD I didn't even show until 20+wks and told work at 22+wks and everyone was surprised!

I wanted to share with you one of my best purchases for DD, she was born in Feb but living in Scotland means your winters are longer! instead of snowsuits these are fantastic. It fitted DD until she was 6mths old and was so easy to get her in and out of when she was tiny with the cold weather. When they're in the car seat it folds around the straps so they're very cosy but easily unwraps slightly to let them cool down if you are shopping etc (rather than having to wake sleeping baby to take snowsuit off).

Yay, we've booked a wee holiday to Spain for first wk of August, really excited about hopefully seeing some sunshine!

Hope everyone is well

Bouncingturtle · 06/07/2007 07:29

Loucee - Wow what a fab idea. And the babies were very cute I've bookmark that page. BTW IKWYM about this thread being active!
How is everyone this morning?

buzzybee · 06/07/2007 08:07

Goodness, haven't been on this thread for a week (well actually the old thread) and there are already 135 posts to the new thread!!!
Well done Neuro! Still haven't said anything here. Am hoping I can make it to 18 weeks at least.
16 weeks tomorrow. Definitely feel the odd little kick. Think its easier to recognise the second time around.
The only people that ever gave up their seats to me on the tube last time were eastern European, even tho I worked up to 8.5 months. Very selective eyesight...
The lists for what to buy look pretty good to me. But just thought I'd add my favourite purchases:
Sleeping sack (grobag) from about 6 months. Try and get ones that zip up the side as zip under chin can rub.
Baby bouncer, or if you can afford it baby swing.
Baby pants with feet - they have a terrible tendency to kick socks off. Also nighties to make changing at night easier.
Changing board that sits across cot (I got mine from John Lewis). I didn't take mine off for 6 months or until DD was sitting up. Very easy to whip baby out of cot and onto board without straining your back (changing on floor or even on bed is quite hard on the back).
Toddler bed with a bar across the sides(actually more like a wooden slat) - one side open at the feet end about 18 inches. My one was also a platform bed which meant she had to climb down a short ladder to get out and SHE NEVER DID. The great thing about the platform aspect was that I could also store loads underneath - it turned into a kind of playhouse. See here www.inhabit.co.nz/c_treehouse.php for a picture of what I mean (mine didn't have the slide!)
My DD was not a very sicky baby so didn't use much in the way of muslins etc - hugely variable this one I think.
I always took her in the bath with me so never got a bath. Bit tricky getting out of the bath when you're on your own tho!
Tried the baby nail clippers once, cut her finger and threw them away. Just bit them off with my teeth - much easier to feel with your mouth than look IFYKWIM.

Housemum · 06/07/2007 08:10

Loucee - few pounds more but I was looking at these the other day - similar idea Morcck

suey2 · 06/07/2007 08:40

ha- certainly puts a different slant on 'hug a hoodie'

mother2b · 06/07/2007 08:58

ahh, i really want one of those baby hoodies, they look like they'll keep my baby nice and warm

MotherofZ · 06/07/2007 09:27

I remember taking my dd home from the hospital and put her in a 0-3 mths snowsuit and she was SWAMPED in it - could hardly see her!!

mother2b · 06/07/2007 09:40

i can imagine it, i cant wait until dec io meet my lil babba

suey2 · 06/07/2007 10:06

does anyone have those sudden moments when you realise this is actually for real? I mean i think about being PG a lot, but occasionally i just think how fantsatic it will be to see LO for the first time

Housemum · 06/07/2007 10:08

suey - I still can't really comprehend that this is real, but then I see little babies on telly and have this huge smile on my face as I think about holding a little one again!

MamaMaiasaura · 06/07/2007 10:10

I am thinking I am imagining it all at the moment, although the lollipop man said I was getting a nice little bump today.

Doesnt seem quite real. Havent bought anything for baby but did buy ds one of his xmas pressies (stocking filler). Trying to be organised as Decemeber going to be ever so busy i think!

mad4girls · 06/07/2007 10:28

morning girls
all this chat about lo's had a dream i had a little boy last night and he kept waving at me he was so cute

were all rooting for a girl though(hence the name) so i dont know where that came from, already getting fed up of everyone saying so your hoping for boy then because i have 2 girls, we all really really want another little girl, the thought that i cant buy girly dresses again breaks my heart.

anyway i keep catching myself smiling when i think about what little one might look like, this is also different for me because although my 2 d's were very much wanted, the men werent what i wanted, and the losses i have had in between those pregnancies and this make me appreciate every moment of this one even more, even when my head is down the loo

Mrswizz · 06/07/2007 10:48

Yes it felt very real last night in a good way and in a scary way. I was in the bath last night and saw a little kick coming out of my bump. Very cute. Have felt them before, but seeing it was new. On the other hand I couldn't sleep last night because I suddenly realised our financial plans had not stretched further than my maternity leave. DH may have to give up his job when I go back to work, wish it was me.

MotherofZ · 06/07/2007 11:45

I was thinking about that last night too, about how we much time I can take off for maternity leave.
Also, got think about if it is worth putting one toddler and a baby in nursery if I come back to work later on (really don't want most of my salary to go on child care)

Neuro · 06/07/2007 12:04

Morning everyone!
Well I am deliriously happy right now, the midwife has been round and i heard it's heartbeat. It was, is, so fast. My uterus is higher than she expected which means it's growing quickly (i said to my best friend two weeks ago that i felt like i was experiencing another growth burst so feeling pretty chuffed and in tune with my body). Erm, she laughed and had to sort of keep chasing it around to get the heartbeat as it was wriggling so much which is lovely.
Today, it feels totally real. Much more real than seeing a scan, don't know why. I guess hearing it being really alive makes it more realistic. Also i feel really clever for growing a live human in my own body, really in awe of nature today. So been having a few conversations with him/her since then! Don't hate me but when i told midwife how much i weigh this week she said oh good you've only put on 5 lbs. I'd forgotten she'd weighed me two months ago. BUT i'm sure all that will change!
Erm, all my friends and my brother and parents think i'm having a boy, but mum dreamt it was a girl and that she was a very good baby. She also told me that research has been done which now proves that a stress free pregnancy does tend to lead to a calm baby. So nobody worry about anything from now on! Put yer feet up ladies.
have a great day, i'm off for a nice walk whilst it's not raining.

Neuro · 06/07/2007 12:07

AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE BABY IN DECEMBER. FEEL IMPATIENT NOW!

thelady · 06/07/2007 12:34

Stress-free pregnancy = calm baby.

OK, I give up! I might as well prepare for the infant from hell....

JARM · 06/07/2007 12:39

Neuro - how fast was the heartbeat?

Seems to be a pattern of high heartbeats = girls, low=boys.

With both of my DD's it didnt get below 150 BPM and my first check with this one it was really low at 138 BPM

So of course im hoping it means ive got a boy - but a chilled out girl would be a nice change!
