I'm pretty tearful. We watched the second part of Dr Who last night and I absolutely lost it at the end. I did set a rather high standard on hormonal reactions though when we watched Finding Nemo when I was preg last time and I practically had to be sedated when his mum died. "But what is he going to do without his mum-meeeeee?!!!" etc etc

Am at work, clearly with a terrible cough/cold and finding it difficult to explain why I am not taking anything

Good luck to everyone who wants a home birth. I'm not in the running as I had am emergency c-section last time

DearBeatrice · 05/06/2007 09:45

i have a lovely spot too which is v annoying as have been paragon of saintliness with food since i got bfp, drinking tons of water etc.

really tense; not helped by cat jumping on me every morning at 4.30 since it's got light early - dh just says 'she's just being friendly'. so tired and his glibness doesn't help. men!

vv i wish i did have the wind as i'm in such a grump i'd do silent killer types to gross out my colleagues (open plan office)

beansprout - lol @ sedated; you're like me, another film to add to list then - i've spent the last 32 years avoiding watching either ET or Bambi - I can handle human suffering but show me a doe eyed animal having any sort of crisis and I'm in floods of tears.

talking of dr who wasn't david tennant's acting fab in that last 2 parter - hope he gets a bafta or something

hi to everyone else

rozzyraspberry · 05/06/2007 10:24

I think we can definitely count grumpiness as a pregnancy symptom. DH told me last night that I'd been grumpty for the last few days. I know I was feeling irritable but thought I'd managed to hide it - apparently not!

Swinging between excitement and thinking how on earth am I going to cope with another one!!

fillyjonk · 05/06/2007 12:17

at inability to keep up with thread

and lack of pg symptoms meaning i have nothing to say

beansprout · 05/06/2007 13:31

Fillyjonk - I don't have loads of symptoms, just a stonking cold and a grumpy persona!

Agree that Mr Tennant was first rate this week. Brilliant episode.

rozzyraspberry · 05/06/2007 13:36

I have no symptoms either other than being grumpy! Probably partly due to tiredness as DS2 kept coming to visit me during the night last night and DS1 thought that 5.15am would be a good time to get up!!

Trying to get lots done at work at the moment as I finish up on Friday for 2 weeks holiday - as you can probably tell I'm not doing too well!

flamingnora · 05/06/2007 13:45

I'm also feeling very very emotional, fat, bloated, sore and in a terrible grump today. What a joy I must be to work with!

Hx

DearBeatrice · 05/06/2007 13:58

phew; i'm 'normal' - nice to know that this is an accceptable week 5/6 way to be ..

my tummy feels like it does EXACTLY before AF starts.. that's the best way to describe it; and a 'numb' back = anyone else?

am i still the only 'first time mum' on the February thread? if so, can one of you tell me exactly when dh's realise that when we say we're exhausted we mean it, and that you're not just 'tired' like they are;

oh and another question if i may, should i invest in preggie pops and / or sea bands now.. as i've been sicky, and i know my mum was. or should I wait? How quickly will it hit in full force, should I be unlucky?

tks all

beansprout · 05/06/2007 14:02

DB - see how you get on. It may, or may not hit you and diff pregs can vary for the same woman. There are all sorts of remedies (most of them discussed on here at some point!). Legendary as it is, it only affects 50-80% of women so some of us may be lucky!!

Am trying to not look pregnant. Am looking forward to breathing out when I get home!!

sorkycake · 05/06/2007 15:42

I just wanted to wish you all the very best wishes for you all!
I can't believe I was finding I was pg this time last year, I'm bf'ing a fat 4 month old as I type lol
Soooo of you all and lastly...
woohoo to fillyjonk!

gingermumi · 05/06/2007 15:44

Aftanoon!
Egg - Thanks for kind words- Winchster is near me, it's a lovely place, did my degree there. Don't know if you've been there but it's a traditional hampsire country town. Nice shops and some lovely pubs!

Feel extremely tired today, am lucky that work is very quiet and i could leave early, don't know how i would be coping if I was as busy as usual.

On scans booked mime privately - £50 for dating and general check. Will be 7 weeks, although they do them from 6 weeks they said better to wait as there's more to see at 7 weeks. Company called Firstview - don't know i it's a national concern or just a local company. There are lots out there - I saw loads when i checked the net.

On maternity wear - was thinking i was being pathetic thinking about materniy bras but feel like i need them .. boobs are huge and painful. DD2 brought me home the mothercare catologue yesterday - they have some 'early term' jeans with a soft waistband - might invest in those

rozzyraspberry · 05/06/2007 15:57

Ginger - it sounds like your older children are quite excited if they're bringing home catalogues for you. That's lovely!

gingermumi · 05/06/2007 16:02

They are very excited! have drawn the line at them buying things though!

Egg · 05/06/2007 17:55

Evening all. Anyone got any tips on getting toddler vomit out of maxi cosi cabriofix car seat? All in the cracks and joints and everywhere...

Very very very tired after a loooooooooong day.

beansprout · 05/06/2007 18:24

Oh Egg, no tips I'm afraid but a bucket of sympathy. Maybe start another thread? I don't think there is anything that the collective wisdom of MNers doesn't know the answer to.

Am feeling incredibly rough and dh is being Mr Media Whore today as there is something in the news today that relates to his work. Could really do with him coming straight home, but apparently, it's not all about me!

Why ever not?!!!!

flamingnora · 05/06/2007 19:06

DearBeatrice I am also a 1st time mum (just call me clueless!) so feel a bit overwhelmed by it all.
I TOTALLY feel like I have AF symptoms, just a general dull ache - hope they pass soon!
Hx

flamingnora · 05/06/2007 19:10

Beansprout - sounds like your bloke is in my line of work - which is why I'm still in the bloody office and I have Mr FlamingNora wondering when exactly he can expect me to slow down! I also had a media emergency today - as well as all the other emergencies (boobs, tummy, tiredness...).

CountTo10 · 05/06/2007 19:35

Evening everyone!! Glad I'm not the only grumpy one. Although my grumps seem only with dp who was asking irritating questions, drivers on the road who were clearly going at 2mph and the stupid woman in my exam today who dared to suggest it was my mobile that had gone off in the middle of it - she got short shrift I can tell you!!!! Do feel somewhat nostalgic and even more maternally with ds though which is a bit weird. Had to dodge 101 nosey questions from a friend today so I'm assuming she's guessed!! Ah well!! Boobs are only tingly at mo, dreaded soreness has not kicked in yet.
Dear Beatrice - I so have the numb back thing but thought I was just being strange!!!!

fillyjonk · 05/06/2007 19:35

woohoo to sorky also ]envy]

now feel utterly bloody awful, have been puking all day and dog tired

so

gingermumi · 05/06/2007 19:35

Egg- a hose?

gingermumi · 05/06/2007 19:43

Refuse to admit to grumpiness (even hough had an argument with dh at 1 am about how he doesn't care/love me etc to which he pointed out he has been doing lots of extra things to help me so he does care/love me etc)- will not concede defeat until i have to! Seem to be lucky so far with sickness.

Countto10- what was your exam in? did it go well?

CountTo10 · 05/06/2007 19:47

It was my final accounts technician exam. i took it in dec and failed so retook it. Fingers crossed as I really need to move onto the next stage now. It's been a bit of a nightmare really though cuase have had last few days off work revising, then found out I was pg and haven't wanted to think about anything else!!!

gingermumi · 05/06/2007 19:50

Sounds really heavy going. Not a good time to be taking exam when you have somthing so exciting to think about instead. When will you get results?
