Congratulations on all the new arrivals!nice to think there is a purpose to all this !

ForumUsername · 15/01/2018 12:35

I'm still waiting too
Due Saturday, and still getting over a cold/cough! Really wish it would just go as I don't want to have to cough the baby out!
Plus we've builders in who were due to finish on Friday but looks like they'll be here till Thursday, really want them gone so I can organise some last bits

Have been having random period type pains on and off the past few weeks
Plus the past week (sorry TMI) I've gone from being constipated to things moving through me quickly
Don't think my bump has dropped but do feel like Baby is lower, it's like it has stretched down rather than dropped, does that make sense?

I'm getting random twinges in my cervix too and just feel different
I think things are moving in the right direction but I'm not in a massive rush TBH

Had some relaxing reflexology on Friday
Having another session tomorrow to help keep things moving along

StylishDuck · 15/01/2018 13:13

Baby Harris, born Sat 13th. Got home last night. So happy to be home. Getting settled into life as a family of 4.

(Ignore the blood in the photo. It's mine, not his. Joys of cracked bleeding nipples! Blush)

Congratulations to those of you who have made it and I hope the rest of you aren't getting too fed up and uncomfortable!

January 18 #7 The one with all the arrivals
cheshiremama89 · 15/01/2018 14:02

@StylishDuck how gorgeous! Congratulations!

Crikey! Bleeding nipples! Hope you're alright Thanks

Maybebaby2 · 15/01/2018 17:14

@StylishDuck congratulations baby Harris is lovely! Sorry your suffering so badly with bleeding nipples, are you getting some support? I've been struggling the last week with sore nipples, there is a local support group called homestart who will come out and help with position and latching issues so I'm going to call them tomorrow. I would ask your health visitor or midwife if there's anything similar near you.

@ wapphighwood congratulations! did you pick a name?

@Fleetwoodmac2 Congratulations! Your induction sounds horrendous, but so worth it little Chester is adorable! Glad he is home and doing well.

StylishDuck · 15/01/2018 17:36

Thanks @Maybebaby2 . I feel like I should know what I'm doing this time with him being my 2nd and me managing to feed DD for a whole year. I've just had a look and there's a breastfeeding support group on at my local health centre on Wed afternoon so I think I'll speak to the midwife tomorrow when she comes round and maybe pop down there to get his latch looked at. He has the most incredibly strong suck. DH was using his pinkie to try to calm him down last night and commented on it. So it's no wonder I'm bleeding if his latch isn't right. There's no pain quite like it Shock

Gemxo · 15/01/2018 22:23

Can anyone who has already had there little ones share there birth stories? No one is really telling us what happened labour wise and I would love to hear some stories & know what to expect/look out for...

StylishDuck · 15/01/2018 22:38

@Gemxo I was induced at 40+9 due to SPD. Went in on Thursday night and got the first pessary in. Felt some mild contractions overnight which subsided, got the 2nd and 3rd pessaries on the Friday. Same story, mild contractions that eased off. Examined by doctor who said I was 2cm dilated and they wanted to try breaking my waters. Went down to labour suite, waters were broken, contracted on gas & air for a bit, then I requested something stronger so was given diamorphine. I then had a weird 3-4 hours where I was contracting every 7-10 mins but falling asleep between them due to the diamorphine. I was put on the syntocin drip at some point during this time. Doctor examined me again and found baby was a facial presentation (face first instead of head first) and I'd been stuck at 5cm for a couple of hours. They said facial presentation wasn't viable for vaginal delivery so recommended an EMCS. Taken down to theatre, spinal anaesthetic given, DS was born within 10 mins, I was in recovery 45 mins later after being stitched up.

It sounds like a lot went wrong but I never at any point felt like either of us were in danger or not in control. Everything was discussed with me and explained to me and I still see it as a positive experience.

Gemxo · 15/01/2018 22:47

@StylishDuck thanks for sharing your labour story!! Glad it all went well for you and baby

MegRam · 16/01/2018 02:05

Here's my labour story @Gemxo

We were induced at 39w for risk of pre-e, but it turns out I was already 2cm when we went in. Had the pessary at 11am, spent the day walking around the hospital and playing cards!

My waters went by themselves at around 10pm - a trickle at first and then a flood all over the floor. Contractions started 20 mins later. By midnight (when the NYE fireworks were going off - very weird!) I was 5cm and they moved me to the labour suite. I'd just been using TENS until this point.

Contracted using TENS and G&A for 2 hours, then started pushing involuntarily. Midwife confirmed I was fully dilated. Pushed for 2.5 hours, DD born at 3.37am.

So - a really positive induction story: 5.5 hours from waters breaking and totally manageable pain. Controlled all the way through and I was even nice to my DH!

DD was 9lbs 6oz and I did suffer a third degree tear and lost a lot of blood, had to be stitched up in theatre, but that honestly doesn't change the birth experience for me at all.

MegRam · 16/01/2018 02:06

Sorry, pushed for 1.5 hours not 2.5!

robindeer · 16/01/2018 09:08

Hi all, apologies for the long absence, my ds has been poorly in hospital since the autumn. Now being treated as an outpatient so I've been booked in for a CS this week! So nervous and so very unprepared for another baby. My current state is snotty, dribbling in bed, insomnia and extremely unflattering wind. I also now somehow weigh 15 stone. Thank goodness for an understanding partner! It's such a glamorous time...

Seeing all your baby photos and reading your birth stories is so lovely, congratulations to all who have delivered so far and to the rest of us- not long to go now!

Ruthcarr1990 · 16/01/2018 11:14

@robindeer I had a planned c section. With my dd it was an emergency c section.

I was so nervous because of the memories about the c section previously. It was a totally different experience.

All the staff were so lovly and were very relaxed.

Do not worry about it and try and enjoy it. Xxx

Ruthcarr1990 · 16/01/2018 17:13

Any one tell me how long after their c section did you have staples removed? Dreading tomorrow marks got his heal prick and can see me being in tears.

Xxx

bananagrabber · 16/01/2018 22:22

Hello, is it ok to join the thread? I was on an informal Feb due date thread but am now late Jan as having a planned ELCS at 39+3!

Have started mat leave at 37 weeks and loving it. This is DC2, already have a 3-year-old. I am trying to prepare for all eventualities and bit anxious he might come early although DC1 was 1 week late.

Despite this feeling like the longest pregnancy ever (it's so different from my first in many ways and I have far more anxieties) I'm still not completely taking it in that I'll have a baby here soon. Still not sure on names but hoping to decide once we see him...

katmarie · 17/01/2018 07:26

Today's my Edd!!! And I'm still very much pregnant. I think I had my worst nights sleep yet as well. I've had Muscle pain right at the top of my bump just under the rib cage, just in one spot, so painful but literally just in one tiny spot. God I hope it means things are moving forward. Sweep booked for 10.30 this morning. Then I'm going back to bed I think!

Mortigua · 17/01/2018 07:32

Can someone who had a sweep please tell me whats normal?
Had a sweep yesterday. Nothing till the evening then started with really bad pain but not contractions just constant period type pain. Couldn't sit still and felt sick. I had some dark brown spotting then a load of dark brown mucus. Normal? Good sign?Or means Nothing? No pain since so I expect it was just dislodged from the sweep but I had started to get my hopes up that it was the show.

MegRam · 17/01/2018 07:36

Sounds like it could be the start of your show @Mortigua. I had dark brown mucus for a good few days when I was losing mine. Lovely!

I also had some mild discomfort after a sweep, which the MW said was to be expected - sort of crampy, like period pains.

Fingers crossed for you!

Mortigua · 17/01/2018 07:38

Thanks it's so confusing as to what is a show and what is mucus plug and I think the show is more significant but trying not to get my hopes ùp. Finding life impossible at this stage so just need things to the moving!

Waitingonasmile · 17/01/2018 08:53

@Mortigua I had a sweep at 39 weeks and lost mucus plug, had a bloody show, had contractions and then absolutely nothing. This all lasted about 4 days and then stopped completely. Hopefully it'll work for you though. Fingers crossed

Mortigua · 17/01/2018 09:05

I think that's what may have happened as every thing has stopped except the odd bit or gunge when I wipe. Oh and I feel really sick but that's from not being able to eat due to pain last night. Thoroughly fed up. 4 days must have been hideous!

Waitingonasmile · 17/01/2018 09:08

Im sure there's still hope for you @Mortigua. I was 1-2cm dialled and the midwife was really positive it woiod work but my body obviously wasn't ready. When are you due?

Mortigua · 17/01/2018 10:15

Thanks waiting on a smile. I hope so but not convinced it will happen without induction.
I was due on Saturday so 4 days over. Next sweep at exactly 41 weeks although not sure whether to do it.

cheshiremama89 · 17/01/2018 11:42

Just got back from midwife app (38+6)
Protein found in wee, but other than that fine.

She wants me to have a sweep next Wednesday, the day before I'm 40 weeks?

Is this normal?

I'm inclined to wait until I'm late HmmHmmHmm

ForumUsername · 17/01/2018 14:26

@cheshiremama89 my doctor wanted to do a sweep on Monday, I'd of been 39 +2 so said no
From reading it's better to wait till you are over or feel more ready

I've been getting period pains at night the past couple of weeks, not every night but more often recently
They don't come and go but stay for a awhile. It's a dull achy feeling, like maybe what I'd have on day 3 of a heavy period.

I had a Reflexology session last night to start things along.
This morning I woke up to pink watery discharge
I put a maternity pad on to monitor it in case it's fluid
I went for a walk and had some lunch
There has been some more but it's more slimy (sorry TMI) and there's less of it so thinking it's a show

What do ye think ladies? Is it a show?
DH would love if baby came tomorrow so it's birthday would be 18-1-18

Getting the odd random twinge but nothing painful. A little pressure in my lower back. Baby seems to be moving normally.
