AAAARGH Claricebean - TOO. CUTE.!!

Forgot to reply to your post ayer about the postparto care.. interesting to say the least. Thank goodness my Mum and Dad will be very close so if they refuse me anything, they´ll get it for me instead (Mum is already planning on bringing in her mini kettle to make me tea!!). I´m working on the denial theory. Just going to try and take it as it comes and not have too many preconceptions...

claricebean · 21/04/2007 11:54

I think you´re right to go with the flow. Of course, everything here works on the assumption that you will have umpteen family members to fetch and carry for you in hospital, so if you do, you should be fine. Once DH had gone home, I tried to get some water (they didn´t bring drinks with meals) and was told I´d have to go to the vending machine in the hospital lobby . Considering they are apparently advocates of bf, you´d think they would have fresh water on tap, as it were. Must say though, that the food was excellent.

Katy44 · 21/04/2007 12:22

Thanks Indith, think I used to have one on mine, if not I'll add one in a sec

Katy44 · 21/04/2007 12:22

BTW William is very cute, as is Ruby claricebean!

Katy44 · 21/04/2007 12:32

Right there's a really unflattering photo of me on my profile now, but unfortunately they all looked like that so I have to face the fact that's what I look like!
(BTW I'm the slightly smaller, less wrinkly, less grey one)

CaptainDippy · 21/04/2007 12:51

Hello - just been shopping with DD1, she wasn't as much of a nightmare as she usually is, so that was nice! I bought her "Biscuit Men" for after lunch to thank her for being such a love! Lunch in a sec, then drop DD's off and then Antenatal appt, then tea at in-laws, busy, busy, busy ......

Welcome Back to TWB / Peneloperabbit - Good to "see" you hon - hope something happens for you sooooooon ......

Where are you, baby!!!?

CaptainDippy · 21/04/2007 12:55

Awwwwwww, Clarice - Ruby is scrumptious!!

To add my tuppence worth to "he /she's a minger, but I love 'em anyway" discussion ..... DD1 was a beautiful bubba from the v.beginning - all dumpy and scrumpy and yum - She had lot of thick brunette hair and BIG eyes and was yumeeee. DD2 on the other hand was pretty minging to say the least - all scrawny and jaundiced and fairly Goblin-like ..... She's grown up into a right little stunner though to be fair - My girls are both scrumptious now!!

CaptainDippy · 21/04/2007 12:57

Ooooh, Katy - I have seen you now .... Hello!

hotlipsmummy · 21/04/2007 13:19

Afternoon ladies. ust a quick post whilst DS2 (now named Austen John) is asleep. DH has taken DS1 to London Zoo today. Hope they have fun and its been nice to be with the baby but am expecting a very tired toddler to return soon...

Good luck to all those still to pop. I see tons more babies have arrived since my last post so CONGRATS to everyone! Sorry I'm so far behind, not logged on for a week!

IsabellyMoi · 21/04/2007 13:44

Congrats Nellyhel!!!!!!!! Looking forward to more details. Wonderful news Very well done!

I'm sure I've forgotten to congratulate a few people. Well done to all the new mummies! Sounds like for the most part people have had pretty positive experiences.

Nellyhel, you and Zazas have left me in the dust. At this rate I am going to be the last one on the April thread. And I'll probaby have a wrinkly, over-cooked goblin...here's hoping the hormones kick in and I fall blindly in love.

Trying it all: walks, pineapple, sex, curry, nipple stimulation (sort of), RLT...and acupuncture appointment this afternoon! Amazingly not TOOOO frustrated - had a nice midwife at the birth centre reassure me - at least I'm not facing a really imminent induction date.

Hugs to those who are really uncomfortable and dealing with other little ones.

Good luck Pesha! Hope things progress and you are holding a darling newborn baby before the end of the weekend

bumble75 · 21/04/2007 13:51

Hi everyone,

Not been on since Thursday night and have just caught up - bit congrats to SOSPL, LuceWheel, Zazas, Bubbaloo and Nellyhel on your new arrivals!!! So pleased for you Zazas that you got the birth you wanted. And yet more gorgeous names...

Congrats Octo on the school appeal result - must be such a relief!

Clarice & Runny - gorgeous pics of Ruby, Joshua and William - thanks for sharing them. LLL and Eca thanks for sharing your birth stories- I just want one of my own to share now!

Ellie - hope you're having a better day today.

All good here, entertaining parents is distracting me from the fact I am fed up and still have a week till my due date, but is also knackering. Mum started on the 'the baby won't know us when you come to Aus at Christmas woe is me, etc' chat. Am ignoring it in the hope that she'll stop if I don't respond and in all other regards is lovely having them here.

Can see myself also crashing the due in May thread as no signs of anything starting here. Had a lovely morning to myself - dh was at the gym and parents were out - have all come back now and are trying to kick me off pc, do they not realise I need my MN fix???

Labour vibes to everyone who wants them and big hugs to everyone!

xx

elkiedee · 21/04/2007 14:22

Hi all, I'm not even due until Tuesday and on family history I'm really expecting baby to be quite late turning up (I was nearly 3 weeks overdue - I think I'll just go mad) - so I'll probably have to start joining in on the May thread too.

I finished the last 100 pages of another crime novel and otherwise slept most of the morning after not doing so well during the night. Mike's in Kings Lynn visiting his mother, who recently had a spell in hospital - she's ok now but very frail - she's coming up to her 76th birthday and her health and mobility haven't been great for a while. But Mike will be home this evening - poor love is feeling terrible worrying about me and baby and her at the same time.

I kicked the cats out of the bedroom before leaving it about midday as I can't bear more cat sick on the bed. They looked a bit shocked and I feel terribly harsh, but I'd much sooner clean up floors than have yet another stained duvet.

A friend talked about visiting this afternoon - think Mike asked her to look in in his absence - so I should really have the bath I've run and make myself less scuzzy than I feel right now.

Congratulations on the latest arrivals, good luck to the others bored of waiting.

Luci

Emmymummy · 21/04/2007 14:45

Hello, another one bored of waiting here, although like any of you, not actually due just yet (4 days and counting...). Have just been to a birthday party with Em and have quite enjoyed seeing everyone's faces when they ask when I'm due (me: NOW!!!!!). They kept bringing me chairs and cups of tea, so there are some advantages!

Em was 7 days late, I was born 11 days late, and have always had a gut-feel that this one would be born on the 29th April, so a little while to wait yet. Oh well, glugging back the RLT anyway in the vain hope that it will speed things along.

Can also see myself crashing the May thread. Do welcome in-comers?

Elkie - glad you've kicked the cats out of your room, I wouldn't have put up with the cat puke for as long as you have.

Clarice & Nellyhel - Ruby & Fraser are absolutely gorgeous.

I have to say I didn't fall instantly in love with Em's looks when she was born. She was very scrawny and red, and scratched her face within hours of being born and this became infected and went all flaky. Her newborm photos are quite delightful (not). However, now she is beautiful of course! She really is. Sometimes when I see photos of me & her together she just looks so beautiful compared to my ugly old conk that I wonder how we created such a pretty little girl. But I am veeerry biased of course!

chilledmama · 21/04/2007 14:59

Has anyone heard from weeonion yet??

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 21/04/2007 15:47

Hiya ladies just a quickie whilst dd2(!) is asleep. Congrats to all the new babies - thanks so much Ellie for the email updates.

All ok here.

Hope everyone is ok, and not too peed off with waiting.

Thinking of you all, and look forward to more news soon.

Love and hugs

Claire xx

peneloperabbit · 21/04/2007 17:03

This is getting silly!

Today I have:
Been for a little walk (had to stop twice and lean against wall due to horrid contractions - cue hilariously anxious looks from passers by)
Had sex (twice!)
Had a bath with clary sage
Had some raspberry leaf tea
Bounced on my ball
Hung out two lots of washing
Been to the loo maybe 1000 times - is this normal?- is really uncomfortable as feels like bladder is completely squashed
Felt like I wanted to do a number two all day

As soon as i started to time contractions they stopped!!!!!!!!

nuttygirl · 21/04/2007 17:11

Aww PR sending you

Well feeling a bit better. Have had to stop taking Ibuprofen tho cos it's making my stomach sore .

Going out for a meal tonight...hoping LO behaves!!!

Congrats to all those who've had their babies! Good luck to all those still waiting

Have been taking our LO out quite a bit and I'd definitely recommend it...she gets admired so much which is lovely

Emmymummy · 21/04/2007 17:39

Penelope - you've missed out the curry. Surely that's got to be the next thing to try?!!

EllieKthePA · 21/04/2007 17:59

Hi Ellie, tough day? Hope you are doing ok, offload here if you need to.

Feeling a bit low myself today, have had a headache all day today and just feel generally miserable. I am getting some sleep at night but am sure that a lot of my mood is due to being tired. Found out that there is a post natal group in a nice cafe near where I live every Friday so think I might go there next week for a break and a chat with others in the same boat in RL. Looking after a newborn is bloody hard going and at the moment I am finding my life very mundane. Just feel like I have no identity and am just here to look after my dc's. I remember going through this last time too so maybe just need a little me time somewhere. Sorry for miserableness.

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 21/04/2007 18:33

love doobyxxxxxxxxxxxx

Bugmum · 21/04/2007 19:07

Another fed up one here After MW's visit on Friday, I knew there's be nothing doing this weekend (due tomorrow, ha!), but can't seem to cheer up and get on with it. I know it's the threat of the C-section that's really getting to me, rather than just the general being sooo fat and having bad SPD and trying not to feel guilty re DS etc etc etc - though all that stuff is in there too. My maternity clothes, especially the trousers, don't even really fit now, so I am reluctant to leave the house.

Sigh.

I won't be crashing the May thread though: a mixture of denial and not being good at getting to parties late.

Vibes to all (shouldn't think there's anyone who doesn't want them now, is there?) xx

Bugmum · 21/04/2007 19:14

By the way, can anyone link to the thread that tells us who has popped and who is waiting?

maveta · 21/04/2007 19:28

APRIL STATS THREAD

Here you go Bugmum..off to catch up now

maveta · 21/04/2007 19:32

Well that didn't take long! Sympathy, hugs and all the rest to everyone feeling fed up of waiting or overwhelmed at adjusting to life with a newborn (for the first time or otherwise!).. I think that covers all of us now!! Oh dear. We will get through this girls.. Mammjo I think you are probably right that you 'just' need to find yourself some me time but..easier said than done, right?

PenelopeR.. sounds like you're almost there though.. hang in there!!
