No specific post-natal category so I've added it to the normal ante-natal category ...

The only time muslins should be ironed is when using them to teach an older child how to use the iron. I'm probably not the best person to be advising on ironing though, I was genuinely surprised recently when my 4yo correctly identified an iron in a picture. I thought he was going to ask what it was! Blush

I get annoyed by the baby stretching inside me sometimes but then instantly feel sad that I'm not going to have that feeling much longer & we'll probably never have anymore so this is my last chance to enjoy it... It's still annoying when I'm trying to sleep though!

Zampa · 14/11/2017 12:39

I will get drying them outside of the dryer and see how they turn out. Thanks!

I seemed to iron a lot when DD was little. Clearly too much time on my hands as barely get chance now.

@Zampa I ironed what felt like 100s of muslins before DS was born. I had 5 weeks between going on mat leave & him arriving & seemed a good use of time. Didn’t iron a muslin again after that. Thought about ironing them before their first use this time round & quickly decided against it!

I had a dream last night that I had feet trying to press out of my stomach, I could see them when I lay down. It turned out they’d left another baby in there! It was all a bit traumatic. I definitely miss feeling Iris kicking, not missing the hiccups tho. I’m not ready to say no more children yet. I always wanted four but time is very much against me as I’m 39 now & I would want at least a 2 year gap before we have another so we probably won’t have any more but not ready to accept it yet. Making the most of everyday with Iris while she’s small.

How did you get on with the consultant @izzibee29 ? Have you got a date for your induction?

izzibee29 · 14/11/2017 14:05

Update- admitted yesterday and had pessary overnight. Now waiting for waters to be broken and to be hooked to drip.

Waiting around is the worst part of it so far.

Hopefully in next few days baby will appear.

ValentineFizz · 14/11/2017 15:33

Good Luck @izzibee!

theotherendofthesockportal · 14/11/2017 15:35

Good luck @izzibee29

@Topsyloulou the thought of having another baby - pregnancy, birth is enough to make me want to run shrieking into the sunset. I think I am still traumatised by the emergency c-section. Plus the torture of getting up in the night at the moment. I do wonder how women have multiple children.

I’m not letting DH anywhere near me until birth control is back firmly in place.

Hazandduck · 14/11/2017 17:59

Good luck @Izzi!

Still no sign of Baby Duck here! Seeing the Midwife tomorrow and think she is going to give me a sweep 😬 Trying not to think about it too much! X

AGnu · 14/11/2017 18:25

Good luck izzi! Fx it all goes smoothly for you!

Haz let us know how it goes!

DH has just decided he's not going back to the office until after pat leave. He was going to WFH tomorrow & Friday but go in on Thurs but has decided there's not much point lugging his laptop in for one day. It'll be nice to have him around to help out with meals & just have the reassurance of another adult around in case I go into labour. It's also going to be incredibly stressful being at home with 2 noisy children while he's trying to work potentially for 2.5 weeks! Hopefully it won't be too long until DD comes & he can go on leave! I'm feeling less like it's imminent though - last Thurs I was convinced it was all kicking off & several strong contractions, v low bump causing pelvic pain... Then it all went away & she's back up in my ribs again!

Zampa · 14/11/2017 20:29

Good luck @izzibee29. Hope that it all goes smoothly.

@Agnu that’s good news your DH will be around! I had baby back in the ribs yesterday, and such crippling sciatica I could barely walk or anything! Had a bath last night and relaxed and it was a miracle - got out and could move again, slept the best I have in weeks! And this morning I think I’ve lost my plug! Baby has definitely moved off whatever nerve he/she was sat on lol. Even my puffy foot has gone down!

Seeing my midwife at 11.50 😬 I have nervous tummy tingles thinking this may actually be something starting!

Thinking of you @Izz x

AGnu · 15/11/2017 10:43

How exciting Haz! Some people lose their plug ages before they go into labour but with both of mine it meant things were imminent. You might have a baby by tonight! Grin

theotherendofthesockportal · 15/11/2017 12:49

@Hazandduck I have a feeling your baby will be here very soon! A lot of people feel relaxed and get a good sleep pre labour. Fingers crossed for you.

Also wishing @izzibee29 lots of luck for today

Hazandduck · 15/11/2017 13:54

Thank you @agnu and @sock! Ooh I hope so! Would be amazing to meet Baby tonight 😍
The sweep was nowhere near as bad as I thought it’d be! Just had to breathe through it, and my Midwife said if I breathe like that through contractions I’ll be fine. Ha here’s hoping! She felt all the way round baby’s head and said it was right there fully down so she couldn’t move it, and that it wasn’t too big - phew! :) Also said cervix was soft and short so hopefully things will start soon! X

Topsyloulou · 15/11/2017 15:19

That sounds promising @Hazandduck. Fingers crossed the sweep does the trick.

Hope the induction is going well @izzibee29 & you’re enjoying newborn cuddles soon.

We registered Iris today. She was trying so hard to poo while we were in there she projectile vomited everywhere. She’s keeping up a family tradition as DS did exactly the same when he was registered with the added bonus of a poonami! So far she is like her brother in every way & he is a mini me of DP. I was hoping one of my children might take after me in some way!

lydiangel83 · 15/11/2017 15:55

Good luck @Hazandduck xx

DuRezidal · 15/11/2017 16:19

That sounds really positive @Hazandduck 😁

How’s it going @izzibee29?

Thinking of you both.

BalloonGordon · 15/11/2017 19:09

Hello, could I join? Long time lurker but didn't want to post until I started maternity leave as it didn't feel real until now! Congrats to all those who have had their lovely babies.

Due next week and feeling very huge and uncomfortable, but absolutely no sign of anything happening yet.

lydiangel83 · 15/11/2017 19:27

Does anyone else who is breastfeeding find that LO suckles rather than properly drinking? My 15 day old does a lot of suckling and I’ve had conflicting advice about whether to let her or not. I have had mastitis and her being on boob for so long makes nipples really sore, but equally want the stimulation from her to help with milk supply. Am currently managing to top her up with EBM but that supply will run out soon and it’s just a shame she isn’t taking enough milk when I know there is milk there.

Any advice / experience welcome!

Latch isn’t always great but I have had it checked quite a few times and told it is ok. Often feels as though she is just sucking nipple tho as it is agony afterwards :-/

GingerHanna · 15/11/2017 20:35

@lydiangel83 remind me to tell you our story tomorrow- just about to turn in as DH does the late feed but you might find my experience useful.

theotherendofthesockportal · 15/11/2017 21:59

Welcome @BalloonGordon, the more the merrier.

Lonelycooler · 15/11/2017 22:59

Good luck @hazandduck sounds like you’ll have your baby soon

Well it’s all started for us too !!!
Been in hospital since 1pm getting induced, little one doesn’t appear to want to come out yet though. I’ve had 2 tablets and getting mild contractions but not progressed so just gotta try and sleep now and see how we get on in the morning. Hopefully bump will be in our arms tomorrow :):) how exciting !!!

theotherendofthesockportal · 16/11/2017 02:19

Good luck @Lonelycooler

DanaChops · 16/11/2017 03:14

Hi everyone, congrats on all the babies! I've not written for a while but I've enjoyed seeing how you're all getting on. Had my little girl on 3.11- 3 weeks early. Wasn't allowed any pain relief which was completely against my birth plan of all the drugs but so glad it's all over with now. Emilia is amazing but doesn't sleep which I'm finding very difficult. Good luck to everyone having their babies soon xx

GingerHanna · 16/11/2017 03:33

Congratulations @Danachops! You know the rules - pictures or it didn’t happen!

Why were you not allowed pain relief?

DanaChops · 16/11/2017 03:52

@GingerHanna Thanks, this is my gorgeous little one 😊 they said as she was going to be born within 4 hours I couldn't have pethidine or morphine and they had a new electronic prescription service that no one could figure out so couldn't get anti sickness meds so couldn't use gas and air.... epidural would have taken an hour to get the anaesthetist and kick in and the midwife kept putting it off until it was too late. I was seriously unimpressed! Shes completely worth it though 😁
