No specific post-natal category so I've added it to the normal ante-natal category ...

Hi @Hazandduck yep we have the same challenge, we mix it with expressed milk and then feed in a bottle after I have breastfed her. All a massive faff. Just been to see paediatrician and they said they use Carobel before a feed which will be even trickier to administer (how do I know before she wants a feed!?) and the volume required of it is huge!! Anyone else had any experience of this?

Hazandduck · 15/02/2018 19:38

Oh god I tried to give it before a feed. Resulted in her desperately screaming for food, propped up against pillows so I could spoon feed the gaviscon, her rolling off said pillows as she was crying so much, me spilling the gaviscon and precious expressed milk on he sofa and me as I grabbed her and an all round awful experience! I don’t recommend it lol x

lydiangel83 · 15/02/2018 19:47

@Hazandduck aww could u syringe if instead? I thought it was meant to be after a feed?xx

Hazandduck · 15/02/2018 21:55

Oh I’m not sure, the doctor said to give it halfway through a feed but Tills screams her head off if I remove her during a feed, so I thought I’d do it before, oops I’ve been doing it wrong! GP said if I gave it to her after she was less likely to take it because it doesn’t taste very nice and she will be full up. I only gave it to her once today because it was such a faff yesterday, DH have her a bottle with it mixed in but she doesn’t take a bottle too well now and I had to feed her on the breast after any way because she wouldn’t finish the bottle. It’s not easy is it! I actually went and sat in the park on my own and had a cry today. Just needed to let the pressure out. It did help a little! Hope you are doing ok Xx

lydiangel83 · 16/02/2018 01:28

Aww @Hazandduck no it's really not easy :-/ it makes more sense to me to give during or before a feed but I was told after. I hate how little consistency / clarity there is in guidance for babies. I know it's because they are all different etc but makes it so hard to know what to do! We didn't feel like gaviscon was working that well anyway so have other meds now which do slightly different things. Good luck and keep in touch and I think a little cry to let off steam is a good thing xx

DuRezidal · 17/02/2018 19:18

I am just catching up on everyone's posts as haven't been around much the last few weeks. I feel like I have driven the length and breadth of the country with the horses as we have had championships and training, so I am looking forwards to a quieter week. Tonight's the first time I've seen my two babies since Wednesday morning so I've really enjoyed bathtime with them both. Unfortunately I've also been fighting off the flu so today I crashed which is such a shame because I had loads planned with my daughter. Thankfully I have b12 jabs so that is helping me fight it.

theotherendofthesockportal · 17/02/2018 19:39

@DuRezidal I have b12 injections too, do you take folic acid and vitamin d alongside them?

Bea is growing so much! This week she has started to blow raspberries which we find hilarious. She continues to do then as she knows she gets a reaction from us.

We had some bad news regarding her harness; it isn't working as well as hoped and the hospital team are having a meeting to discuss next steps. She is still a super smiley, happy little girl so i am not going to let it upset me.

I hope you are all enjoying motherhood.

butterybollocks · 20/02/2018 13:27

Hope you're OK @theotherendofthesockportal What are the other options if the harness doesn't work?

How is everyone doing? I've been to my first buggy fit class this morning which was good. Freddie slept through the whole thing - hooray! His gums seem to be a bit sore at the moment. He's started laughing sometimes though, which is lovely.

DuRezidal · 20/02/2018 21:47

Have they suggested something to replace the harness or is it a case of it remaining in place?

Well sleep regression has definitely hit our household! J went from sleeping 8pm to 6.30am every night to 8pm to 3/4am the last two nights! We haven't changed anything but he wakes up really hungry and angry so we will see what tonight brings as he had a 3 hour sleep at nursery this afternoon. We have added some hungry baby milk at night just to see if having a fuller tummy helps him feel less starving when he wakes up as he then ends up gulping the bottle and can then be sick because he has drunk it too fast.

DuRezidal · 20/02/2018 21:50

@theotherendofthesockportal I have my B12 every 8 weeks as it remains very low, and take Vitamin D alongside it. Folic acid makes me quite nauseous so I don't take that, even when pregnant I stayed away from it.

I have a relatively gluten free diet (have the odd cheat day) and have recently greatly reduced my dairy intake to just butter and cheese. These changes have definitely helped and my b22 is remaining steady for now at 8 weekly injections.

butterybollocks · 21/02/2018 06:14

@durezidal same here with sleep... F has started waking at 2,3 or 4am and needing milk. He does go back to sleep afterwards though. I'm wondering if it's a growth spurt as I'm expecting the sleep regression to be worse...

DuRezidal · 21/02/2018 07:31

@butterybollocks exactly the same! 3am again last night

izzibee29 · 21/02/2018 07:35

Hi all

Been a while since I've checked in.

Sorry to hear that some of your babies are refluxy and that it's affecting sleep, I am sure it'll get there.

What's new with us, well we're now 14 weeks and don't hate tummy time any more(yay as we were getting bored of the screams that used to come with tummy time), we're yet to really discover our feet but our hands are delicious(but this means slobber everywhere so bibs bibs bibs). Yet to try swimming but keen to give it a go soon.

I'm going to move Iris to her cot in her room at the weekend. She's started stirring a lot in the night & I think it's because she's run out of room in the crib & is now bashing the sides of it. Hope that does the trick as it's so much easier to lean over & soothe her than having to get of bed & go into her room.

@izzibee29 Iris discovered her feet yesterday & sat there laughing at them as she rubbed them together, it was so funny to watch. She's still not that interested in toys but she's now very happy on her play mat. Her biggest source of amusement remains her big brother. She beams as soon as she sees him & he loves playing with her now she's interacting more.

Any babies got any signs of teeth coming through yet? Iris has just started with the dribbling but not too bad so far. DS got his first teeth at 5 months so will be interesting to see if she's the same.

butterybollocks · 21/02/2018 09:22

Loads of dribbling going on here and Freddie loves it if we rub his gums so there's definitely something going on.

@durezidal we had a better night here - may be coincidence but we put F to bed earlier. This boy needs so much sleep!

@izzibee lovely pics, so cute!

theotherendofthesockportal · 21/02/2018 09:35

@DuRezidal @butterybollocks we had a call from the physio to tell us to take the current harness off whilst we wait for the consultant to decide what to do. The physio phoned again yesterday to say he was still chasing the consultant. We aren't too sure what will happen next, but enjoying having bath time at home rather than at the hospital whilst we can.

@DuRezidal I'm glad to hear your b12 is under control. I had to fight to get mine tested properly, I ended up changing gps. Some days are better than others!

@Topsyloulou Bea is too big for her Moses basket now :( we are packing it away with her first size and 0-3 clothes. How did my little baby grow up so quickly?

@izzibee29 we have a lot of dribbling and hand sucking here, sometimes this is accompanied by glowing cheeks and very occasional grumpy behaviour. I enjoyed going shopping for some nice bibs to go over her clothes.

Tummy time is still hated at our house. I try and encourage it a couple of times a day, I think it is harder for Bea because she is used to her legs being held in a frog position so it isn't easy for her. Tummy times is ok for about 2 minutes the descends into angry screaming. Has anyone got any tips?

I love hearing how all the babies are doing.

lydiangel83 · 22/02/2018 07:55

Hi all what are the b12 injections for? I'm so tired we are just starting to have a few better nights after awful few wks of reflux related non sleep. Called 111 one night as we were so desperate. We now get woken every 4ish hours but I will take that. Lots of dribbling here for a few wks now and I am watching out for sore gums / red cheeks as signs of teething. Consultant has given us strongest reflux meds so hoping to start them ASAP. And he said wean reflux babies early so possibly in a few wks (currently clueless but going to talk run by local children's centre next wk!).

I still have broken coccyx but trying to do some swimming / Pilates for my own health. Currently 70kg and was 65kg pre baby so not too bad!? Eating all the cake tho, I'm afraid someone will tell me to reduce dairy intake so stuffing my face whilst I still can!

Liliana is 16 wks this wk no idea where time has gone. When not screaming in pain she is a happy baby thank goodness x

Zampa · 25/02/2018 22:01

Here's my little angel, 14 weeks tomorrow. Still sleeping really badly but we're coping ok.

Lovely to see pics of some of the other little ones.

We had our first swimming lesson on Friday @izzibee29. The lessons are ridiculously expensive but I enjoyed it. Leonore didn't seem to hate it so that's a bonus! I would recommend the lessons but also think a quick splash in the baby pool at your leisure centre would be just as fun.

Wow @lydiangel83 she has fab hair! Hope the reflux meds do the job.

Glad you're enjoying swimming @zampa. I've not been brave enough to give it a go yet. Are you doing one of the courses where the babies swim underwater?

Zampa · 26/02/2018 16:16

@butterybollocks Yes, we're doing a course of lessons where they dunk the babies. First dunking this Friday!

They also do an underwater photo shoot, which I thought was pretty cool until I saw the cost of the pictures. £200+!!!!

Hi everyone! So nice to hear and see updates. How are our babies growing so quickly? Matilda will be 15 weeks old on Friday 😳
She is a dribbly, hand sucking, put every toy in her mouth mess haha. She absolutely loves scrunchy books especially. I looked at her newborn pics the other day and she looks so different now! She had such skinny fingers, she’s a right chubber now.
We go to swimming on Mondays and it is a dunk class. She cried the first time but is fine now and loves it. We go with her cousin so it’s lovely they get to splash around together and it is only us in the class so nice and quiet.
Hope you are all well. Xxx

Hazandduck · 26/02/2018 19:18

Here’s a pic of Tilly in her Pooh bear dressing gown and reading her unicorn book the other morning 😄 She loves flipping the pages over. X

Is anyone interested in carrying on with a new thread (we're at 950 posts now)? If so, I'll set one up.

Tilly looks so grown up @hazanduck. Very advanced book page turning skills too!

I would be @Zampa, would be nice to keep in touch with everyone from our pregnancy journeys :)
It scares me how fast she is growing. Hubby got his tape measure out the other day she is 66cm long now! I’m a bit of a titch but I think she might be tall like her daddy! X
