No specific post-natal category so I've added it to the normal ante-natal category ...

DD1 also ill @butterybollocks. Threw up twice this afternoon so off nursery until Thursday. Hoping it doesn't spread to DD2 who has her immunisations tomorrow.

Get well soon.

Oh get well soon @buttery!

How were the jabs @zampa? Hope little one is not suffering too much. It’s definitely worse for us having to witness it!

@Motherhippy I’ve only been to one group so far and they are so supportive - one time I turned up 25 minutes late to an hour long class and I must have looked very flappy, the next week I had my tea and cereal bar with me to speed things up and was only 10 mins late 🙄, then spilt the cup all over the floor when I sat down!! But the teacher lady came over at the end and made a point of saying how she honestly doesn’t mind when I get there if I’m late etc because she totally understands how hard it is leaving the house with a small baby. They all know how it is so don’t worry or put pressure on yourself! You are doing a wonderful job!

We went to our friend’s little boy’s christening on Sunday and I was terrified Matilda would scream the roof down but she actually sat wide awake quietly looking around through the whole thing while the older children there shouted and made noise. I was so nervous as she hadn’t been in a church or that environment before. I then lost her to my friend’s elderly relatives who just had to cuddle her all afternoon so me and DH had a cup of tea and slice of cake with both hands! Result 😂

@Zampa I feel your pain on the clamping down :( been to osteopath who have a string of reasons about why it is happening and went for second treatment today. DH v sceptical about it all but I said worth a try. She also thinks tongue tie has regrown and causing issues with extra wind getting in. DD currently asleep wriggling around in pain so I can't sleep :(

lydiangel83 · 23/01/2018 05:39

@butterybollocks get well soon xx

@Motherhippy16 same re reflux it is horrible :( and hard work!!

AccrualIntentions · 23/01/2018 09:58

@butterybollocks hope you feel better soon. I'm terrified of getting ill now I have DD to look after!

@motherhippy I've been quite nervous about going to any baby classes or groups, DD usually only manages half an hour of anything before it all gets too much. I also always seem to be the only one who isn't breastfeeding, which made me self conscious about bottle feeding her in public. I've deliberately gone to classes where you're doing a specific thing with the baby rather than drop-in sit and drink tea type sessions, because it feels less pressured and if no one wants to talk to me I'm interacting with the baby anyway. But I've found people really friendly and not cliquey at all. I can't see myself making life long friends but right now it's nice to have adults to make small talk with for an hour or so. Getting out of the house for a specific time is still a challenge though, I won't commit to anything before 11:30!

butterybollocks · 23/01/2018 10:12

Thanks ladies, I feel much better today thankfully. I went to bed at 5pm when DH got home. It was so hard looking after both Freddie and DD when I'd picked her up from school, I really needed to put F in the caboo but I was aching too much. Freddie was a superstar and slept through last night which I am massively grateful for!

butterybollocks · 23/01/2018 10:13

@zampa hope your little one is better today and the jabs go ok.

Motherhippy16 · 23/01/2018 11:10

@accruellintentions thank you. Yes it is hard and have managed to get a freind to come with me to the one next week so I feel ok. I wonder if it's the fear of 'what ifs' rather than actually being there!
Managed to get to the drs for my 9.10am app this morning which is the earliest we have had to be out by ourselves. Have been cleared for driving after c section!
@butterybollocks glad you are feeling better now.

X x x x much love to all x

Zampa · 23/01/2018 19:34

Today I caught DD1's vomit in my hands to stop in going all over the pram. That's a parenting milestone for you!

DD2 was very brave at the doctors today but has been crying a bit this afternoon and seems to be sleeping more than usual post jabs. Hopefully she'll be ok overnight.

DD2 has lost that newborn look now (9 weeks) and her cries sound more "grown up" and less goat like. A bit sad but excited to move onto the next stage.

Hazandduck · 25/01/2018 11:07

Oh god @Zampa that is the part of parenting I dread the most!! I have such a fear of vomit! Although I’m hoping when it’s my own child I’ll toughen up a bit 🙈 Glad the jabs weren’t too bad. I know what you mean about losing that newborn look! Tildy has started doing really loud screechy gurgles when she is excited, they crack me up!

Has anyone else booked a summer holiday? We are looking ATM, thinking maybe the Algarve as it’s meant to be good for babies, but I’m a bit nervous about taking a weaning baby away! Any tips?? Xx

Zampa · 25/01/2018 14:55

@Hazandduck We took DD1 to a HB hotel in Spain when she was weaning. It has a buffet style dinner and we were able to introduce her to so many different types of food without having to order 100s of different things. I'd do it again with DD2 if we could afford it!

OP posts:
Hazandduck · 25/01/2018 16:21

Thanks @Zampa we’ve never gone all inclusive but think we will just for ease this time. DH is reluctant to though, as we usually eat out so much on holiday (that’s the point of going for us usually!)
How is DD2 doing this afternoon? Not got a fever? x

Zampa · 25/01/2018 16:47

@hazanduck HB/AI is so easy when you have children but it's not cheap and you have to select your hotel carefully to ensure decent food. We went to the Iberostar near Huelva (Isla Canela) in case you're looking for a recommendation! It's just over the Portuguese border.

Leo coped admirably with her jabs and has been sleeping better this week.

butterybollocks · 25/01/2018 16:52

@hazandduck I am rubbish with vom. Mostly because I am terrified of catching sickness bugs so I clean and wash my hands obsessively when DD is ill. She's very rarely sick but F is a sicky baby so I see more puke in my future.

We usually go camping but not brave enough to do it with a baby! So we've booked a static caravan at our usual campsite on the south coast. We did look at other holidays and were horrified at the cost because we're used to camping!

Been to baby cinema today - it was fab!

Zampa · 25/01/2018 17:01

Ah @butterybollocks, I remember discussing camping with you over the summer. We're not going this year either so will probably kick my Dad out of his house near Brighton and go and stay there with DDs and DSC.

I am still following everyone's posts, I've just been insanely busy the last few weeks. But Thursdays are my day with Jasper and I absolutely love that day. I am also trying to do more with my daughter because I want her to have time just me and her too so I have started to take her skiing on a Tuesday night which has been so much fun.

Hazandduck · 27/01/2018 00:04

Oh me too @buttery! I get obsessive. I really hope parenthood helps me relax a bit...I seem to handle milk sick pretty well! But yes I fear bugs so much 😖 I’ve had all sorts of therapy to try and get me over the fear of it but nothing has helped really.
What did you see at the cinema? I really want to take Tildy - she is already obsessed with TV...I’m such a bad mum!
@Durez that sounds so much fun. You have such an active career and still have the energy to go skiing in the evenings, Supermum!
@Zampa thanks for that I am def open to ideas, going to look that place up tomorrow on the computer. We are going for a long weekend in a cottage in Dorset in June but want to get away for a week in early to mid May in the sun, before it gets crazily hot. We are liking the look of Ibiza at the mo, although last time we went there it was a clubbing holiday 😂 This time will be slightly different!
I love Brighton, it’s so much fun, so much to do, although I think I am cursed because every time I go there it rains torrentially. X

Hazandduck · 27/01/2018 00:07

Oh and has anyone else been crap and forgotten to register for claiming child benefits?? I got round to filling the form in today but have yet to post it. Totally didn’t think about it!

Zampa · 27/01/2018 06:24

I sent my form off last week @hazanduck. Took me until DD1 was about 6 months, I think, before hers was completed!

Worst night's sleep since DD2 was a newborn (in fact worse than when she was a newborn). Think she must be poorly.

OP posts:
Motherhippy16 · 27/01/2018 06:55

I still need to do child benefit as Well! That and finish off the thank you cards! X

izzibee29 · 27/01/2018 07:33

@Hazandduck Frederick love staring at the tele too, I think it's the bright moving colours but does make me realise that we won't get anyway with watching reruns of game of thrones in front of him for long

butterybollocks · 28/01/2018 17:39

Freddie loves telly! It's quite handy as it distracts him while he feeds and makes it much easier to feed him.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. We managed an hour working on our allotment with Fred sleeping in his pram today which was amazing!

Hazandduck · 29/01/2018 07:58

Ah phew! Glad it isn’t only me with a square eyed baby haha! We took her with us to a friend’s for Sunday dinner yesterday and she was transfixed by the football on tv, and I said I felt guilty about how much she seemed to love it, but my friend pointed out it’s not really any different to her staring at lights on her playmat, and that’s probably what she likes about it (the bright lights and colours!) It made me feel a bit better about it any way.

Ugh @motherhippy we did our thank yous as combined Christmas cards but honestly it took me forever. To be fair ours were for our wedding thanks too, but still it was the most boring task. I said to DH that’s it, I am not doing cards for anything any more!
X

Hazandduck · 29/01/2018 07:59

@buttery what are you growing this year? I’m usually quite good at doing something (toms/herbs/runners) but I’ve done ZILCH. My garden is like a wilderness!

butterybollocks · 30/01/2018 09:22

I have ambitious plans @hazandduck! Planning to grow carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, sweetcorn, potatoes, kale, leeks, rhubarb, courgettes and spinach. However we've got a lot of work to do to build the beds first so it will all depend on whether Freddie carries on napping well in his pram so that I can get some digging done!
