No specific post-natal category so I've added it to the normal ante-natal category ...

@Topsyloulou I have weight in the same places, and since I can't go running won't be able to shed it that easily. I ate healthily today apart from a chocolate brownie and a few leftover Christmas chicks. Everything in moderation tho right!?

lydiangel83 · 09/01/2018 00:36

*chocs not chicks!

Hazandduck · 09/01/2018 09:30

Oh ladies I am so with you with the trying to get fit! I just feel gross. I’ve gone back to My Fitness Pal this week just to make myself conscious of what I’m eating. It still has my old calorie amount of 1200 but as I’m breastfeeding I’m allowing 1800 calories, however yesterday by bedtime I felt so hungry I actually felt sick and ended up scoffing 5 biscuits which is probably worse for me! I’ve started doing the 30 day shred DVD again this week too, just every other day, and trying to walk as much as I can. God my legs are feeling it today ha! I feel flabbier after Christmas than I did a month after having Matilda!
@sock aw there is plenty of time for Bea to be put in lovely dresses! We got given so many outfits and Tilly is growing at an alarming rate that I already have a big bag of outgrown stuff so I try and do day and night outfits every day to get some wear out of everything. It’s a bit like playing dolls picking out her clothes each day lol! Except they usually end up covered in piss and puke within 30 seconds 😂 How long does Bea have left? Xx
@lydia and @durez Tilly makes a face over her dummy but without it she really loudly sucks her hand and thumb! When we put the dummy in half the time she pulls it out and sticks her hand in again lol. Little devil!

Hazandduck · 09/01/2018 09:31

Oh and had health visitor yesterday. Since our doctor appointment on Friday she has gained a further 2 ounces! What a chubber!

butterybollocks · 09/01/2018 09:31

I have tummy fat and could do with dropping two dress sizes. I need to cut carbs but we're eating a lot of pasta in the evenings because it's so quick to cook and easy to eat with one hand. I'm hoping we'll get into a routine in the evenings soon because I'd like to go back to
Clubbercise classes.

We had a really crap night last night, I've been up since 3.15am. Fortunately we had an amazing night of sleep the night before. DD is back at school today - phew! The school hols have been exhausting.

We're having some impressive naps thanks to a My Hummy. We've had it for almost a week and Freddie has gone from not settling at all in his pushchair to falling asleep immediately and sleeping for a few hours, even after we get home.

Hazandduck · 09/01/2018 09:45

Ooh I’m going to look up My Hummy! @buttery I think when you’re so tired it’s so hard to eat healthy food because the unhealthier stuff is just easier! Hence why I’ve been stuffing biscuits in my face (I suppose I could just stop buying them...) I’ve been the same ie pastas etc. Although last night I did try Fearne Cotton’s satay chicken which was so quick and easy (as long as you have a blender) and has no refined sugars, and I’ve honestly never seen my husband clear his plate so fast. Can’t recommend that recipe enough. Had it with basmati rice and stuffed aubergines, was yum x

theotherendofthesockportal · 09/01/2018 15:46

@Hazandduck I like selecting Bea's outfits. My mum knits so I co-ordinate her knitted cardigans with her baby grows. The doctor commented on her outfit at her 6 week check. I was so proud, I may look like a troll but my daughter looks like she is off the cat walk. I think she will be her harness for at least another 6 weeks.

@butterybollocks I'm starting clubbercise tomorrow, I've never been before and I'm quite excited.

Being fit and healthy has not gone well for me today, I've just inhaled a box of left over Christmas chocolate. Luckily it's the last one in the house so it can't happen again.

Zampa · 09/01/2018 21:47

Literally standing over OH, browbeating him into writing thank you cards to his friends and family for baby's presents (and our Christmas presents). It's so tedious, especially as I am virtually dictating them!

OP posts:
lydiangel83 · 10/01/2018 00:37

@Zampa I have to do the same but I am not writing them all!

AccrualIntentions · 10/01/2018 10:37

I've still got to send thank you cards, I ordered them well before Christmas so I have no excuse!

butterybollocks · 10/01/2018 10:38

Ooo sock have fun at clubbercise. I love it and it's a,really good workout if you really go for it.

I was toying with the idea of going to baby cinema this morning but I've just managed to get Freddie to sleep in his bouncy chair so I'm not going anywhere at the moment. He's waking every 45 mins in the early hours of the morning so isn't connecting sleep cycles so I think I need to work on helping him to self soothe.*

  • I think this 50% of the time, usually when I'm really tired. The rest of the time I think he's so little and I should just enjoy the cuddles when he sleeps on me.
Zampa · 10/01/2018 12:49

@butterybollocks I wish our local cinema did baby sessions. I would be there every week! Unfortunately the nearest place to us that does it is 45-60 minutes via public transport. I need to get a car!

OP posts:
lydiangel83 · 11/01/2018 02:10

@AccrualIntentions I wrote a ridiculous number of thank you cards (we were very lucky) for baby presents, I can't do Christmas as well!

butterybollocks · 11/01/2018 09:14

I sent thank you notes with a little photo in Christmas cards - surprisingly organised for me!

Freddie has discovered his hands. He wants to get them in his mouth to suck his fingers but can't always quite coordinate himself to do it. It's really frustrating him and he keeps trying to do it as he falls asleep and then gets cross and wakes himself up Confused

Off to the post natal check with the gp this morning.

Motherhippy16 · 11/01/2018 11:39

Oh my goodness.... how are you all finding the time to do exercise? E doesn't want to be put down at all (currently sleeping on my lap) and it's a good day if I can make a cup of tea and drink It! We ended up in hospital on Tuesday night as the Dr was concerned he had started projectile vomiting and he is now on meds for reflux so hopefully that will make him more settled to sleep and fingers crossed he able to sleep on his back in the crib. @zampa e is using my nipple as a comfort sometimes now.... did the breastfeeding cafe have any advice?

We went out with a friend for 5 hours yesterday and e slept for 4 of them... just waking up for 2 feeds and a change... I'm praying we are getting more sleep in now x
Much love to all x

AccrualIntentions · 11/01/2018 12:26

@Motherhippy16 I'm not managing exercise except lots of walking with the pram - because that also enforces a good long nap as she'll sleep so long as it's moving! I'm clocking up the miles.

Motherhippy16 · 11/01/2018 12:46

@accrualintentions that's what I'm managing as well. Looking forward to taking him swimming when I can go and starting baby and me classes but struggling atm to get him anywhere on time... hopefully if the meds work then I can start to get more into a pattern. I want to start putting him in the sling so that I can get things done around the house but he is sick so often I wouldn't want to risk it x

Zampa · 11/01/2018 13:16

@Motherhippy16 Re. comfort sucking, the suggestion was to take baby off the nipple and swap sides. This may prompt further feeding but if they're not hungry, they may ignore the nipple. Trial and error it seems!

OP posts:
izzibee29 · 11/01/2018 15:55

@Zampa thank you for the tip about comfort sucking. I was trying to think about how to manage this.

DuRezidal · 11/01/2018 20:41

I am feeling really down at the moment 😢 I feel that I am hardly getting any time with J now I am back in work and I miss him so much. I had a day off with him today (try to have every Thursday off) and it has been so lovely taking him everywhere with me but tomorrow it's back to work again until Sunday!

izzibee29 · 12/01/2018 06:06

@DuRezidal it's got to be so tough having to go back to work so soon and I really feel for you as you'll still be dealing with sleepless night at the same time.

We've been awake since 4.30 having fed twice and changed a nappy, Frederick has been lying in his cot wide awake chatting for ages

izzibee29 · 12/01/2018 06:10

Oh - love that we've got space on the google doc to record our baby's names, birthdates etc

Motherhippy16 · 12/01/2018 11:46

Thank you @zampa that's really useful and it has made me a lot more aware of how he is feeding. Managed to put e down in his crib for half an hour today which gave me enough time to put my make up on and do my hair. Feel more human now! Am getting less scared of him crying for a little bit if I have to do something. Kinda figure that when I have another baby I won't be able to attend to them immediately due to having e so am being brave if I need a wee or a cup of tea! E is one month old today! How can this be?!?!?!?

I really feel for you @durezidal.... sending love to you as it must be so so hard. X

Zampa · 12/01/2018 16:00

It's horrible, when you have 2, to have one crying whilst you tend to the other. As for screaming in stereo Sad!

Actually managed to do some cleaning today. LO watched me from her bouncy chair for a bit then I finished off with her in the carrier. OH can do the rest tomorrow afternoon!

2 months today and we celebrated by...having injections. I took DM with me for moral support but it wasn't as bad as expected. Back home having a big cuddle now.
