No specific post-natal category so I've added it to the normal ante-natal category ...

Congratulations @Zampa!

She's gorgeous

theotherendofthesockportal · 21/11/2017 17:00

Congratulations @Zampa, she is gorgeous, so petite! Great news that you are being released today too!

Happy birthday @MrsJB1987!

MrsJB1987 · 21/11/2017 18:07

Thank u @theotherendofthesockportal Smile

GingerHanna · 21/11/2017 18:13

Congratulations @Zampa and good luck choosing a name. Glad to hear you have he all clear to go home.

Zampa · 21/11/2017 18:45

Thanks all.

Have horrific shoulder pain, which the midwife thought was trapped wind following the c-section. Hurts far more than establishing breast feeding or my incision wound! My face has actually gone numb! On the phone to 111 as I'm a bit concerned!

Lots of lovely babies! I’m due tomorrow, but not holding out much hope.

Bearest17 · 21/11/2017 19:17

Failed sweep at 38+1 for me today - bit frustrated but not unexpected really. Got to wait till Monday now to find out if it’ll be an induction or, more likely, an elcs

DuRezidal · 21/11/2017 20:21

@Zampa it sounds as though you have aggravated a nerve in your neck near your C2 and c3 to have face numbness.

Zampa · 21/11/2017 20:45

Thanks @durezidal. Paracetamol has helped and going to have a hot bath now to help relax my neck and shoulders. Latter should help with expressing too!

The trapped wind in your shoulders is awful @Zampa. It’s definitely worse than the incision pain, I just couldn’t get comfortable. I had it really bad after DS, I was really worried was it was until the mw told me. They gave me some peppermint oil tablets which were great. I bought some in preparation this time. Thought I’d got away with it until it came with a vengeance after 24 hours. Stupidly opted to take the hospital’s peppermint oil tablets not realising they were 8 hourly, should have opted for mine which were more frequent. I got mine from Amazon but you can get them from Boots or try peppermint cordial or peppermint sweets as long as they have peppermint oil in. It really does help.

Hope the numbness in the face improves quickly too.

AccrualIntentions · 21/11/2017 22:24

Congratulations @Zampa she is tiny and beautiful. Hope the pain eases up soon.

AccrualIntentions · 21/11/2017 22:26

We got sent back to the hospital again today, after another horrendous night. They didn't admit us again, thank god, but I made the decision to give up on the failing breastfeeding attempts and move over to formula, for the sake of my sanity. I really hope for a better night tonight.

Zampa · 21/11/2017 22:47

Good luck @accrualintentions. Hope that tonight is easier for you all.

@topsyloulou I've been taking two peppermint oil capsules a day. Do you think it should be more than that? They're just a pack from Holland and Barrett.

Hot bath made a huge difference and now DD2 and I are enjoying some skin on skin time in bed. No-one mentioned how painful latching on was. Need to toughen up those nipples!

theotherendofthesockportal · 21/11/2017 23:08

I hope you feel better soon @Zampa would peppermint tea help you?

@AccrualIntentions sorry to hear you are still having a tough time. There is absolutely nothing wrong with formula feeding, especially if it will make your life easier.

Zampa · 21/11/2017 23:28

I smell like a toothpaste factory @theotherendofthesockportal! The more mint, the better, I think!

Sorry to hear you’re having s tough time @AccrualIntentions and hope tonight is better x

lydiangel83 · 22/11/2017 02:42

@Zampa I wish someone had told me how agonising latching on was - could have better mentally prepared myself!

AGnu · 22/11/2017 05:01

Either I just wet myself a lot, shortly after going to the loo or...

Fx this is really finally it! Getting period type cramps every 3 minutes or so but I know from my previous labours that I do tend to start off with them close together. One symptom I don't remember from previous labours is shaking. A quick Google tells me it's perfectly normal but it does make typing hard! DH is asleep & I'm inclined to let him stay that way for now. No point in neither of us getting any sleep tonight!

theotherendofthesockportal · 22/11/2017 05:38

Ohhhj @AGnu it sounds like it is happening. Good luck, will be thinking about you cx

AGnu · 22/11/2017 06:12

Yup, definitely all systems go now! Fairly mild contractions every 3ish minutes but getting stronger & closer together. Will have to think about calling my parents to have the older ones soon! I was hoping they'd sleep through it but they tend to wake at about 7 & things don't seem to be progressing that quickly! If it follows the same pattern as previous ones then she'll probably be here around lunchtime.

butterybollocks · 22/11/2017 06:54

Oooo how exciting @AGnu!

Sorry to hear you're still struggling @Accrualintentions. Hopefully she'll take to formula and it will be onwards and upwards from here for you. Sounds like you couldn't have tried any harder to breastfeed her.

GingerHanna · 22/11/2017 07:41

Good luck @AGnu! Cannot wait to see the pics of LO!

Today we have a return of the Velcro Baby. Thought he would sleep until 7/8am as he had a big feed at 4am but nope, 6am and it’s all boobs and cuddles. About to see if I can transfer him to the sling so I can get on with my day. DH went back to bed despite saying he wanted to start getting up with me at 6/7am as he needs to get used to it again for job interview on Friday! Oh well.

Picture for the hell of it.

lydiangel83 · 22/11/2017 08:28

@AGnu I’d forgotten about Shaking but definitely had that too. Good luck how exciting!!

ValentineFizz · 22/11/2017 09:05

Good Luck @AGnu!!

@lydia l can sympathise, it feels like attaching a pirahna onto your boob doesn't it? I'm fine when he's on, there's just 10 seconds of gritted teeth getting him there 🤤

lydiangel83 · 22/11/2017 09:16

@ValentineFizz I can barely bear to wear clothes because nipples are on fire :-/ hoping it gets better soon!!
