Ah - yes slippers for my toes .... good idea (keep 'em coming ...) ... and yes, I usually do take in a pillow or two cos their's are usually dire and uncomfy ....

mammyjo · 03/04/2007 12:04

Thanks for that Luce, its just nice to know that what I am feeling may well be totally normal. I am almost a bit too aware of the signs this time I think.

CD, I am BF and it is going really well so far. I was determined to give it a good try this time as I really struggled with ds. Did have a couple of problems with latching initially but now she is great so hoping I will be able to keep it going. Am actually really enjoying it too which is nice as with ds it became a real chore that I felt I had to persevere with. So much easier at night too as you can just flop it out! No warming bottles for me so far!!

GirtWaspbElly · 03/04/2007 12:10

OH CD that's fairly comrehensive, I'm in the the 'homebirth but should have a just in case bag' camp, although I'm so doubtful i'll go to hopsital it's currently a teeny tiny rucksack and all the baby things will have to be transferred. Even in worst case scenario only expecting to be admitted for less than 24hrs though, if loinger then DH can bring extra's of clothes/pads/food etc.

DS was a pain last night DH suffered dreadfully with asthma as a child and it appears that any cold DS gets goes stright o his chest so we have a laboured wheezy boy who's just faaar to active for his won good. Prob is it';s only a tickly cough as yet so not really anything we can 'do' for him.. So cue waking up coughing at 1:30 decided it;s now play time and refusing to go back to sleep until he's plonked in desperation into the cot (which he can't climb out of and is the weapon of last resort diciplinarily) and left to howl for 10 mins at 3. And up at 6 at full volume.
Just had a hours nap to recover and feel awfully groggy & sick for it. Yuk.

Sorry, needed to whinge.

GirtWaspbElly · 03/04/2007 12:13

Oh Mammyjo - it gets better, if you're really shattered you can lie down, boob out, and just let them get on with it!

Well done for sticking with it.

octo · 03/04/2007 12:13

Good afternoon - have been to asda to get bits for hosp bag - got some milton wipes and antibacterial hand spray to sterilise everyone - we have bugs too at our hosp , pot noodles, cup a soup, bottled water, chocolate and nuts - not touching the food there either! also got some maternity pads - 16p for 10 - bargain! CD - I have also packed ear plugs, sleep mask, breastfeeding book, reading book and massage oil. I need to find some flip flops from depths of garage!!!

Doghouse and eddas - any signs???!!!!!

Mammyjo - glad all is well and dd is settled.

Runny - I feel like that most of the time too - think it is just the wait - bath always helps.

I didn't get to sleep until 11pm - just lay there getting crosser! So off for another snooze in a minute.

DS2 doesn;t have chickenpox so he is at preschool today and until lunchtime tomorrow.

Remembered to buy boys some eater eggs - good mummy moment! and treated myself to a couple of little cardies to wear once baby is born - really difficult finding stuff you can breastfeed in ...

Apologies if have missed anyone off

octo · 03/04/2007 12:15

weight even

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 12:16

Just popping in to say mammyjo you haven't had time even for PND to set in yet (not sauying that it will and even if it does its still totally normal).

This is just totally normal babyblues which everyone gets if you ask me and can last for at least 2 weeks........if you're BF thats supposed to keep the "good hormomes" floating. I am sure you are doing just fine x

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 12:16

XXX ANGE GOOD LUCK FOR TOMORROW XXX

octo · 03/04/2007 12:22

I forgot to tell you about my weird dreams last night...

the first one was that the baby had something wrong with it and its head kept expanding - think may have fear of head being big again LOL!

the second one was my mum kept trying to wash my nappies in vinegar - reallly scaarrryyyy!!!! Think that is down to the interfering thing

Also had a few contractions in the night and leg cramps ... oh the joys!!!

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 12:26

Octo sounds about as weird as the dreams I get but thats a whole different story.

Dippy your bag list is as long as mine unfortunately I've deleted it so cannot post.

Hiya ladies.

Mammyjo, so glad you are enjoying Ffion and having girl time today.

CD, a fab list indeed! I haven't made one - it is just in my head. I bought some really good bits from Superdrug today - small versions of shower gel etc etc.

Ange, all the very best for tomorrow, and we look forward to hearing the news!!!

There seem to be horrid bugs in lots of hospitals at the moment. Lets hope they are all over with soon.

I am feeling sooooo heavy in my bum! Every time I stand up I feel like baby is just going to drop out - yeah right! Seriously though, I feel like I am walking with a football up my arse!

GirtWaspbElly · 03/04/2007 13:13

Fottball up bum feeling can only be good SOL I however am due tomorrow and can still get my knees together relatively comfortably bump is still so high

Pesha · 03/04/2007 13:26

I can touch my nose with my toes Not recommended with bad hips though, dont quite know what I was thinking

CD - Arnica? Water spray bottle thing? Flannel? Spare batteries for camera?
My hospital notes say take 2 towels for me but none for baby. Really cant remember what i did before.

Off to next to look at cute sleepsuits, school dresses and loose flowy tops for breast feeding

nuttygirl · 03/04/2007 13:51

OMG at touching nose with toes Pesha. I can't even put my own socks on DH has to put them on me before he goes to work!

Emmymummy - at builders...hope things get cleared up for you asap.

CD - I don't know, first going down a slide, now rolling in the hay....where do you get the energy & flexibility?????

As for hospital bag list, I've put a couple of carrier bags in so that clothes that need washed can be kept seperate to clean stuff. Also taking my ipod in case it's a long labour.

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2007 13:56

Am at work now - had a v.stressful lunchtime - getting one grumpy, tired child to eat their lunch and one super-hyperactive child to eat theirs and a reluctant husband to eat his and get everyone out in time!! Feel like I've been hit over the head with a brick tbh - Brain fog descends .......

Someone say something nice to me .......

Katy44 · 03/04/2007 13:57

has anyone mentioned painkilers? That's the only thing on my list that isn't on yours Dippy, or hasn't been mentioned.
Well, apart from the laptop so DH can play his streetfighter game . Might forget that accidentally!
What's aqueous cream used for?

Katy44 · 03/04/2007 13:57

Something nice I intended to put in my last msg - thanks for the list, it picked up a load of things I had forgotten!

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 14:00

aqueous cream is a cream for people with excema i think Katy. or if you have really dry skin, kinda super-strength moisturiser

Katy44 · 03/04/2007 14:04

right, thanks - excuse my ignorance

mammyjo - can't provide any iseful advice but just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2007 14:07

Pesha - It must be because I am young .... and stupid!

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2007 14:09

"Paracetamol etc" sort of covers painkillers .....

Yes, Aqueous Cream is a super-strength moisturiser for people with horrid skin like mine!

Katy44 · 03/04/2007 14:12

Grrrf - wanted there to be something on my list I could contribute! But yes, looks as though you had the painkillers.
Glad EllieK told me what it was - was just about to dash out and get some aqueous cream - if you're having it, I want it!!!
