What brand of raspberry leaf tea/ tablets is everyone taking? Have been looking on ebay and no idea what´s good and what´s not.. any advice??

Eddas · 29/03/2007 12:42

Oooggs, they are lovely lunches aren't they

Glad you're looking forward to your next examination!

I remember it well from dd, just started typing the details, but then realised that is not what you want to know right now so deleted it!!!!Fingers crossed the next lot works

Lusciousladylush · 29/03/2007 12:43

the thought of having a sweep - which they only do from your 41 week overdue appointment where I am - fills me with dread Sounds horrible... and sounds liek there are cobwebs to be got rid of!

Eddas · 29/03/2007 12:44

Mine are lifeplan The only ones in the shop.

bEllieK · 29/03/2007 12:47

holland and barrett own brand maveta

Does rasberry leaf really work? Everyone I know who has used it is still waiting to producwe but has backache and tummy pains nstead?! Is it worth the effort?

bEllieK · 29/03/2007 12:54

i don't think it's supposed to bring it on, just make it quicker when it happens. supposed to make the uterus contract more efficiently so each contraction 'does' more IYSWIM

OP posts:
Eddas · 29/03/2007 12:56

Well i didn't think it worked with dd but i thought it was going to do something to bring on labour which i now know it doesn't. All it is meant to do is shorten the 2nd stage of labour. I thought it hadn't done a thing with dd, but looking back i went from a couple of cms dilated to fully dilated very quickly, mw was about to give me more gel to speed it all up, did an internal and said oh you're fully dilated so you can go to the delivery suite. Much to my delight!!!!

Hadn't thought about taking it this time til someone linked to a thread(presumably Ellie) explaning what it does, i went straight out and bought some. Think it's worth a try. As someone on the other thread says, you can't prove it does anything, but lots of people think it does

bEllieK · 29/03/2007 12:59

not me this time, maybe Katy?!

babysopiniontakesover · 29/03/2007 13:00

LLL - maybe that explains all my tummy and backache? I think anythings worth a try and as long as they don't cause any harm then its worth a try. I must admit to mild contractions though since starting to take them and I'm not due for ages..well 12 days actually....

babysopiniontakesover · 29/03/2007 13:01

If you do a search on MN there are loads of stories saying about how quick their labour was with them??? Who knows.

LesleyR · 29/03/2007 13:06

I just got up about 45 mins ago. Didn't get to sleep until 5am. Lots of BH again and my legs seemed to be awake when the rest of me wanted to sleep! They seemed to be moving independently. Very odd. Had to go into spare bed DH is a very heavy sleeper but was worried I'd keep kicking him.

Needless to say all symptoms have gone now. Going to try and do some housework now.

OOOh almost forgot Good luck Ooggs!

Lusciousladylush · 29/03/2007 13:08

thanks for all the comments, I might try it. mind you I found with my DS, the second stage of labour was really quick - it was the pushing bit that I didn't like much. anything to speed that up would be good!

babysopiniontakesover · 29/03/2007 13:19

Just got your email lesley and you're right about the weather! What a horrible day compared to yesterday.....

No more movements but will keep you posted!

runnyhabbit · 29/03/2007 13:20

I actually quite like the tea - mine are by Heath & Heather from Holland and Barrett

nuttygirl · 29/03/2007 13:22

Maveta - my RL tablets are the lifeplan ones too (425mg, take 2 per day).

They also help to contract the uterus after the birth too. Herbalist told me to keep taking them until I'd finished the lot (80 tablets)

nuttygirl · 29/03/2007 13:23

RH - not sure I could drink the tea...the tablets smell bad enough and I have to take them with coke cos they taste pretty bad too!!!

runnyhabbit · 29/03/2007 13:26

dh thinks my tastebuds are questionable at the best of times he can't understand how much I love bananas on toast

Birdiebump · 29/03/2007 13:33

RH - I really love the tea! I'm on my second box of Heath & Heather ones and have about 3 cups a day. But I also love peppermint tea which I'm sure helps with my heartburn so I have to alternate with that.

Interesting to hear about people getting sweeps at 39 weeks. I think I'll ask for one. I'm 38 weeks today and I definitely don't want her out just yet but for once I'd really like not to go way over my due date. I've never had a bump this size before (seriously huge!) and the thought of it growing for another 3-4 weeks does not fill me with joy....

Good luck to Ooogs. We'll all be checking in on you all day so keep posting as long as you can!

Pesha · 29/03/2007 13:52

Does it really help after the birth to contract uterus? So what effect does that have on after pains - better or worse?
I wasnt thinking of taking any, im quite happy actually just to pootle along and let things happen when they want (but dont anyone remember I said that when im 2 weeks overdue and tearing my hair out!) and ds' labour was quick enough but if it can help with after pains then I would def think about taking some cos they were unbearable last time.

Hello by the way

Birdiebump · 29/03/2007 13:56

Hi Pesha. I remember taking it loads with DS2, and I did have a very "efficient" birth and don't remember much in the way of afterpains afterwards but who knows what was really responsible IYSWIM? I think if you like it (as I do!) drink it and it can't do any harm at all at this stage and if you don't, steer clear or take the tablets.

BTW we should definitely try to meet up after LO's are born? I fancy a trip to Yeovil!

nuttygirl · 29/03/2007 13:59

The herbalist said it helped to contract uterus but didn't mention what effect it would have on afterpains, sorry. I figured I'd give them a go, they were only a fiver so figured I wasn't losing much if they did nothing. Have to say I've been having a few niggly pains so I do think they're doing something (don't think they're gonna make my labour start any sooner but do think they're helping tone my uterus)

Pesha · 29/03/2007 13:59

Oh and does anyone know where i can get spiderman or 'cars' roller skates for a 3 year old? Have decided to get dc outdoor toys as easter presents rather than big eggs as im sure they'll get loads of choc anyway and anything that keeps them out my way outside for the next 2 weeks has to be a good thing but ds is adamant he wants spiderman or cars. Seems thomas just isnt good enough for him anymore, my little boy is growing up
DD wants a bratz skateboard but not sure how well she'd manage, gonna try and talk her into a bratz scooter, 1 of the little metal ones cos her scooter has 3 wheels and is years old now.
And then have to buy presents from the baby too!!

twinkle183 · 29/03/2007 14:03

Good luck for today Oooggs!!

My bestfriend had her baby today weighing in at 8lb 8oz - a little girl after a hour and half labour from first contraction!! I am so but happy for her!!!

I can't wait to get mine over and done with - I am so uncomfortable and I know I shouldn't be moaning cos there are lots of women who can't have kids but just can't help it.... I asked for a stretch and sweep yesterday but my midwife said not until I am 40wks as I am only 38+5...

Otherwise I am well sorry for the rant just had to get it off my chest.. I know you lot don't mind!

Hope everyone else is well...

twinkle183

nuttygirl · 29/03/2007 14:06
