@ForumUsername & @Roseandbee I was booked for the scan and blood test, but I had an unexpected scan on Wednesday which confirmed my dates. I have another scan booked for 2 weeks back at EPU so I decided that I didn't really need the scan before the blood test (tempting though it is!!!).

Gemaxo · 18/06/2017 20:36

When I had my booking in app last week the midwife took 3 sets of my bloods, she told us so much information I feel like it went in one ear and out the other it was so much to take in! Are these the bloods that they test for if your high or low risk? (Sorry if I sound stupid) it's all so new to me and I'm a little confused whether that is what she took them for or is that something that is tested later on in the pregnancy?

Gemaxo · 18/06/2017 20:37

I have since that app had my scan date but no letter regarding the bloods she took? So unsure what they were took for?

StylishDuck · 18/06/2017 20:55

Gemaxo it should say in your notes what the bloods were taken for. Mine say I'll be tested for blood group antibodies, full blood count, syphilis, HepB, HIV, haemoglobinopathies (sickle cell and thalassemia) plus they took a sample for research purposes too. I just agreed to everything!

Roseandbee · 18/06/2017 20:56

Gem the blood tests are just routine, I rem

Usernamegone · 18/06/2017 20:57

Had to go and get measured for bras yeasterday as am so unconfortable. Was a 32C pre pregnancy I am not wearing a non-underwired 34D! I already feel massive up top (for me!) will I grow much more. It's so hot here and i miss the days in my 20's when I was a 32B and would wear a top with no bra when I was hot!

ForumUsername · 18/06/2017 21:02

@Gemaxo I'm in Ireland so the test to find out if you are high or low risk of a chromosome disorder (panorama in my case) is an opt in test
They will take bloods at my booking in appointment too but that's for other things like blood type, immunity etc

I'm just back from a family BBQ and I'm wrecked!! Thought the tiredness had gotten better but god it took a lot out of me.
Only 1 person looked at me odd when I wasn't drinking, I had thought it would be harder to get away with it.

ForumUsername · 18/06/2017 21:06

@Usernamegone think I'll have to get new bras too
I'm normally 34DD, don't know how many sizes I've gone up but they feel huge! The bounce walking downstairs hurts!!

We are going away Thursday week to Spain so will need to get some that aren't cutting in to me in the heat! I had hoped I'd get away with my own for awhile longer as I only 9 weeks

Usernamegone · 18/06/2017 21:20

@forumusername I'm desperately trying to hold on for a few weeks until all the sales start. I literally POAS and put on a stone overnight. I literally have one pair of trousers which I can just about get away with at work!

Rosehyd2 · 18/06/2017 21:23

@maybebaby2 I've been singing the praises of ice lollies since the beginning 😁 I had a multi box of 30 small ice lollies in the freezer and I'm running low now. They get rid of my nausea, give me an energy boost, and hydrate me. I only used to have them as a kid when I was unwell and I always got better quickly so it must partly be a psychological thing but I don't care if it works!

Rosehyd2 · 18/06/2017 21:25

@usernamegone Have you put on weight or is it all bloat? I weigh 2lbs less than before my bfp (I'm just over 9 weeks now) but I also can't wear my work trousers as they're far far too tight on my waist.

millsbynight · 18/06/2017 21:36

@Rosehyd2 there's a bowl of kit-kats on the kitchen counter... normally they'd be gone in a few days, but they've been there for about 2 weeks now. DH is amazed!

@ForumUsername yes 😂 I have to hold my boobs when I'm running up and down the stairs.

I'm a 30DD normally and those bras stopped fitting weeks ago!!

OP posts:
Iamchanging · 18/06/2017 22:28

I'm the same Rose! I'm 2kg lighter than at BFP but my gym trousers kept rolling down over my belly today!!! 😂 And I'm only 8+ 3!!!

Rosehyd2 · 19/06/2017 06:43

@iamchanging I admire that you're going to the gym! I was going around twice a week up until about a month before my bfp but I was worried getting back to it now will cause my body more stress than good so I cancelled my membership 😔

Iamchanging · 19/06/2017 07:09

Haha I'm not going to the gym Rose!! I just wore them to go for a walk in the sun yesterday!!!

Rosehyd2 · 19/06/2017 07:40

Okay that makes me feel a little better 😁 Also, what a good idea - Stretchy waist band so makes total sense! Thanks!

Usernamegone · 19/06/2017 08:24

@rosehyd I'm afraid it is weight and bloat. When I was 4/5 week pg I was putting on a lb everyday despite not eating any different! Things like ice cream turn my stomach so I was having fresh pineapple fingers instead! I ran a 10k race at 5 weeks. I'm carrying on exercising but it is a lot more difficult with the extra weight

Maybebaby2 · 19/06/2017 09:16

rosehyd2 they are about the only thing getting me through this! Feel so much better when I've had one! I've ordered 2 flavours of twister lollies, vimto lollies, refresher sweets lollies, calipso lollies, nobbly bobbly lollies (they're ice cream) and one other type that I can't remember right now!! 😂😂🍦🍭🍦

On another note I could do with some advice from anyone on what to do about work, they don't know and I'd rather not tell yet but.... I'm 10 weeks and work part time (3 full days) as a Teaching assistant with a mixed nursery and reception unit we have up to 60 kids at a time. The last few weeks have been awful. Our unit was flooded over half term and we've had to decamp to the school hall while it all gets sorted. This would be ok if we could just stay there but we constantly have to move out for other activities and of course lunchtime. This means a lot of moving around of equipment and furniture setting the hall up as a classroom and putting it away again several times a day which I have found exausting. This week will be even worse as another teaching assistant I work with is out on a course one day and the class teacher is out on another day, we have to move out of hall even more times for other activities that are going on and to top it off Thursday is sports day. We don't have a field so have to take equipment down to a nearby field and set up there and it's quite physical because the kids are so little so it means a lot of running about after them. What do I do?? I'm tempted to go off sick which is not the right thing and would make it really difficult for my colleagues, but I also am dreading going in and don't know how I'm going to manage! Any advice is welcome and sorry for the overly long post! 😂

StylishDuck · 19/06/2017 09:31

Maybebaby I feel your pain, I had to tell my work as soon as I found out at less than 5 weeks that I was pregnant due to the nature of my job meaning they have to take precautions to protect me straight away. They've been so understanding, though as soon as I changed what I normally do day to day people started to twig what was up so I think everyone knows now! Is there someone you can confide in who would be discreet and maybe help you out with the more physical stuff?

Maybebaby2 · 19/06/2017 09:46

Thanks stylish that's my worry that everyone will twig if I start to do things differently. The teaching assistant I work with would be discreet and help me out if I told her but she's out one full day and on sports day all the parents will be there and it will be so obvious if I'm not running around like all the other staff! I haven't told family yet except my mum so don't want work colleagues to know before them. I would be telling everyone in two weeks after my scan so not far off but not sure if I can get through these next two weeks at work without saying something. Confused

Maybebaby2 · 19/06/2017 09:47

Actually next week we should be back in our unit so it won't be so bad it's just this week that is the issue!

weasledee · 19/06/2017 10:58

Same here stylist, I too had to tell everyone at 5 weeks as there are things I can't do at work, plus I always suffer from HG so hard to hide :)
I've booked an early scan tonight so both excited and nervous....... Confused

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 19/06/2017 11:39

has anyone bought any maternity leggings yet?

i'm looking - my leggings are getting so uncomfortable and tight now that i really need to get some!

Isabeau1980 · 19/06/2017 12:00

Victoriaaaaaaa not yet but I do have some left over from the last time. I got mine in Lidl. Oh my God they were so comfortable. I'm just after taking them out of storage this time.

ndo4000 · 19/06/2017 12:55

@Maybebaby2 I am in a similar situation. A part time TA. We have sports day next week and am not looking forward to carting the equipment around and generally being on my feet all day...... am dreading telling work. My boss is going to hit the roof.
