Good luck @Tickyboovicki sounds like something is definitely happening!

savagehk · 01/05/2017 08:36

Luckily we rearranged the furniture yesterday so space created for the birthing pool and oh has checked everything in the birth bag so he knows where it is. More prepared now! Just need a nursing chair (eBay investigations continue). Horrible night's sleep with indigestion though. Knackered this morning.

jennymac31 · 01/05/2017 10:01

Morning ladies

Went on hospital tour yesterday which was good. Pretty sure I'll be having baby in delivery suite but keeping fingers crossed that birthing pool room would be available. Had a look at the MLU but dh didn't really like the look of the rooms, as he thought they were too hippish plus he agrees with consultant that delivery suite. He's still not keen on water birth, especially as birthing pool is quite tall and the step up to it is very small so I can see why my midwife thinks I would have difficulties getting in and out of it but it hasn't deterred me to use it if available.

Went to the cinema afterwards and watched guardians of the galaxy 2, which was brilliant.

Feel quite knackered today and a bit sick so am lying down hoping I'll feel better in a couple of hours.

Hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday xx

CoxsOrangePippin · 01/05/2017 10:05

Thank you esmesbees Smile learning gradually!

jennymac31 · 01/05/2017 10:06

Apologies - seemed to have missed a few words in my last post.

Dh agrees that delivery suite is the best place for me to have baby, as he feels more comfortable that there will be doctors available for any emergencies etc.

Step to the birthing pool was very low (small wasn't the best word to use) so not sure I'll be able to actually get my legs over into the pool.

Definitely should put the phone down and get some sleep!

teainbed · 01/05/2017 11:06

@jennymac31 is MLU in the same building at delivery suite? The obstetricians will cover it regardless if there is a problem. Different if MLU or birthing centre is a standalone unit though.

Badgerbird · 01/05/2017 11:32

ticky that all sounds promising and exciting!! Sending calming thoughts :)

Hello again sonnet! Hope you've been well :)

barnes yeah it could be your tummy "popping" couldn't it Smile I often get really tired just before that happens too. Have you noticed any growth?

Eeeeek esme!!! No I hadn't. Thanks for heads up GrinConfused tbh I'm not due till 26th and as it's my 1st I guess she'll go over..... famous last words!!

That's organised savage, when are you due? When you getting your pool?

We have mw coming round tomorrow night to go through hb and birth "plan". Looks like DH and me had better get something down on paper!

WishIWasSleeping · 01/05/2017 11:37

@BouncingBlueberry - how are you doing this morning?

BouncingBlueberry · 01/05/2017 11:50

I'm ok. Sugars are still lower than ideal so I rang triage and they said as it's GD it's nothing really to worry about, just try to eat more carbs and eat more frequently. Midwife I spoke to wasn't a diabetic midwife so I'm going to ring the diabetic team tomorrow and see what they say.
Getting plenty of movement from baby, he/she seems to enjoy my awful iTunes playlists, especially the ones that include 90's pop.

jennymac31 · 01/05/2017 11:58

Teainbed - yes they are in the same building but am still undecided as to where I'll be having the baby.

stationaryace · 01/05/2017 14:17

Well after being woken up with sharp period pains on sunday morning for two hours, intermittent back ache and pains, then feeling almost flu-like last night, absolutely nothing has happened Hmm I think my body is making up for no pre-labour signs last time by giving me them all randomly this time. It did push me into finalising my hospital bag, writing my "plan" and finding something to wear in labour. Trying to explain to DH why it won't be the nice new pj's I've bought for feeding...

1004Rise · 01/05/2017 14:37

It always amazes me how much I have to catch up on when I don't look at this thread for a day!

@Tickyboovicki sounds exciting, you might be our first actual May baby!! 😀

And while we're on the subject how is it actually May?!? 🙈

@teainbed glad all is well with baby tea and a bonus sit in the park is even better!

@BouncingBlueberry glad your numbers are up a bit v wise to call to speak to diabetic team tomorrow too 😊

I have too much saliva too, generally only at night not attractive at all 😞

We've done the first part of our move, currently trying to sort all the stuff we've brought down to my DPs 😣 Dogs have settled fine, cat is driving us all crazy trying to escape the house not sure how long we'll be able to keep him in. Back up the road Wednesday evening for the removal company to come in and pack everything else.... chances of me not being an emotional wreck when we leave the house on Friday for the last time .... slim to none 😢🤔

Tickyboovicki · 01/05/2017 14:40

@1004Rise no sign of baby yet 🙈 Fingers crossed he makes an appearance soon, although contractions have been much more irregular throughout the day then they were last night

peasandquiet · 01/05/2017 14:53

Afternoon, hope all well ? It's may how did that happen? I have a weird symptom for you all, been going on a couple of days my right ear is numb a lot of the time. Have GP on Wednesday so will ask then but anyone had this before?

savagehk · 01/05/2017 15:00

The pool is ready and waiting but not inflated yet. I'm officially due this Saturday but expect I'm actually due 5 days later. But not sure if this one will be as late as its brother (2w+5 days late officially)! I'm working till Friday... (!)

mrscrocopop · 01/05/2017 15:40

Stationaryace - I also keep getting pre labour signs. Period cramps, back aches, nausea, horrendous downward pressure, lots of BH in the evenings ... but then I wake up feeling fine. 🙄
Tickyboovicky - aaaw, it really sounded like something was happening for you. Still, it still might do!!

I also can't believe it's May! I will have a baby before the month is out. 38+2 today and very much feeling it!!!

Ghostonthedancefloor · 01/05/2017 16:41

Another one here with niggly contractions.. been going on since 11 last night and while they're quite regular, they haven't got any more regular or painful. Been on a long walk just incase but being dc3, I would have thought once things got going it would be pretty quick!

RasperryInAMelon · 01/05/2017 16:43

Didn't call the hospital in the end yesterday, was a lot better come the evening.

Today however I've had lots of fairly frequent hard feelings but with AP it's hard to know the difference between movement, BH and actual contractions. I've had quite sharp pain under my bump and have awfully bad back and have had a bit of an upset tummy.

Going to relax this afternoon and see how things go but may ring the hospital later (36+5 today) I have a feeling this baby isn't going to stay put until the 24th....

@yellowismyfavourite how is LO doing now?

Good luck @Tickyboovicki very exciting!

@CoxsOrangePippin I found that I have clothes in 0-3 which are crazy different in size depending on where they're from!

@1004Rise sounds like you've had a crazy busy day! Make sure you have time for a cup of tea and a biscuit!

OP posts:
mrscrocopop · 01/05/2017 17:50

Raspberry - I know what you mean about the AP. For ages I thought baby was stretching in my belly but actually they were BH's!

FoxMulder · 01/05/2017 18:10

Happy May everybody! We're having babies this month! ShockShock So, is anyone going to claim the 1st?

Rabbitykins55 · 01/05/2017 19:27

@RasperryInAMelon @mrscrocopop oh I have had the same thing, thought baby was stretching, like arching it's back almost, are they actually braxton hicks?! I thought braxton hicks felt more like period pain. Oh I'm confused now! Confused so what are the period pain cramps I've been having?!

mrscrocopop · 01/05/2017 19:46

Rabbity - I think BH can be different for different women. My mum described hers as painful; mine are just uncomfortable tight feelings. I thought the period pains were my cervix preparing... ??? Please bear in mind I am not an expert! Maybe someone else with more experience can advise?

MrsJW15 · 01/05/2017 19:56

Our NCT teacher said that the feeling like the baby was stretching was BH - it's the uterus squeezing the baby not the other way around.

Rabbitykins55 · 01/05/2017 20:00

Thank you ladies! It's so confusing when you don't know what's actually going on. I don't have anyone in real life to ask, all my friends were induced or c section so I'm winging it all at the moment! 😂 I'm fairly sure that'll continue!

EsmesBees · 01/05/2017 20:11

I can't feel my braxton Hicks at all, but I can see my stomach getting tight. But then, I had no idea I was having contractions last time, so maybe am just not that in tune with my body!

The baby's room is finally clear of all our junk so have been able to put the clothes away and changing table up. We are not having a nursery, but do want somewhere upstairs for DD to play while I feed to new one. Feels so much closer suddenly...
