@MrsJW15 I'm a first timer too, but I thought I'd started labour on Sat so called triage. They said I shouldn't go in until contractions were lasting for 60-90 seconds and were regular (i.e. More frequent than every 5 mins). Mine were only 30-40 secs long, every 5 mins, and then stopped after 4 hours (although restarted for another 2 hours later) so never went in. When in doubt, call triage, and if they say to go in I'd call DH. Although I'd prob text him when they'd started as long as they were regular and lasted 30 secs so he'd know to be prepared to leave if they got more frequent.

savagehk · 08/05/2017 22:52

I'm no help there mrsjw - mine was definitely labour and started with my waters going & contractions were regular from then on in - not a twinge beforehand. I was so overdue by then too there was no chance of a false alarm. I think this one will be the same. I've sort-of felt more BH this time but certainly nothing regular or with a pattern (I think only because baby gets uncomfortable when squeezed and pushes back, which then alerts me to the BH - last time I couldn't feel them at all unless my hands were on my bump).

stationaryace · 08/05/2017 23:03

Mine was similar to savage in that my waters went then contractions came 2 hours later. I wasn't sure what it was and it was bedtime so I kinda lay next to dh while he kipped and tried my contraction app timer. Then woke him an hour later when I was sure.

lullaby23 · 08/05/2017 23:56

Blimey missmoo how awful, glad your neighbours took you in temporarily!

Not long to go then nurseb - so did anyone win the guess the CS date sweepstake??

Duck and baby photos all good to me, keep em coming!

CoxsOrangePippin · 09/05/2017 02:49

Well, tonight I'm awake and worrying about the cat instead of the pregnancy, which makes a change! My guess is a bladder infection caused by the stress of baby prep - new furniture in the house etc...

RasperryInAMelon · 09/05/2017 02:54

Hey @CoxsOrangePippin ... 👋🏻

Why am I awake... 😒

OP posts:
CoxsOrangePippin · 09/05/2017 02:56

Maybe you're worrying about my cat too? Wink

Brightsmoke · 09/05/2017 03:44

Waves to Cox and Rasperry 👋🏻

Another one pointlessly awake 🙄 maybe it's your cat for me too Cox? 😂

I drank some whitards sleepy tea last night, clearly after 4 hours of sleep it's useless

newbieho · 09/05/2017 06:00

Morning all, I'm another one with rubbish sleep tonight. @CoxsOrangePippin hope your cat gets better soon, maybe you would like to consider trying feliway or pet remedy to calm the furry friend a bit?

Sonnet18 · 09/05/2017 06:14

mrsjw this is my second baby and believe me you know when you're in labour. I know everyone says that but the difference between period type cramps, Braxton hicks and labour are immense. I was awake writhing around in agony from about 1am the last time I was in labour. trust me, you'll know!

I've woken up still pregnant. I still have a few days to due date but I am pissed off. Got toddlers this morning and then a full day free to spend with my dd- sounds nice but she's a total handful so I'm slightly dreading it (feel so guilty saying that as she's lovely really)

Hope everyone else has a nice day today!

EsmesBees · 09/05/2017 06:32

That's what everyone said to me last time Sonnet, except that's not how it turned out for me. Even though I was 10 days overdue. I knew something was happening, but my contractions were all in my thighs and were never strong or regular, so it was nothing like anyone had described.

Second to last day at work for me today! Not going to miss the tube one little bit. Then I actually have some days next week with no toddler and no work. Really hoping the baby stays put so I can actually have a bit of a break.

peasandquiet · 09/05/2017 07:33

Another one who waters going were the first sign of labour. I thought that was unusual but perhaps not! I think you know contractions are the real deal if you rest and they don't go away, think I remember that right. I mentally would be angry if I had a false start like that!
Was hoping to go into labout last night to get out the toddlers haircut (he cried uncontrollably the entire time) this afternoon 😂 Never mind !

Teaspoon74 · 09/05/2017 07:52

Hi to all - been offline for a couple of weeks coping with water leaks, electricity failings, finishing work & hospital trips.

Going in today for induction so hope to post properly later.

Huge congrats to everyone with a beautiful new baby since the BH weekend!!!

savagehk · 09/05/2017 08:04

Good luck teaspoon

PeachIcedT · 09/05/2017 08:06

Dream it backflipped back into the main nest after a few minutes of mum doing very little to help!

I can join the crappy sleep club, hips are burning. Tried some sort of twisted side/front sleeping position but that mangled my shoulder...

Good luck with the induction teaspoon!! I hope we can soon get another wonderful baby announcement Grin

BouncingBlueberry · 09/05/2017 08:08

Morning guys need some advice. I think I'm leaking my waters. Had no massive gush but sorry for the TMI a small bit of my what I presume plug came away last night and since then I've had a bit of a dampness with a different smell not a wee smell. I don't want to start panicking OH and family but I think something's going on. What on earth do I do? Baby is still moving around happily.

savagehk · 09/05/2017 08:14

bouncing the advice will be to call triage, they'll probably ask you to go in to check it is your waters. If so baby isn't sterile anymore so infection risk increases and they'll probably want you to have antibiotics and/or induction within a certain timeframe. Personally I'd refuse all internal exams /baths /sex etc for the moment as they increase infection risk. They might want to swab you for group b strep although the results take a while so not sure it helps. Put a pad on to catch some waters to show the midwives if they ask.

RasperryInAMelon · 09/05/2017 08:16

@CoxsOrangePippin perhaps... although I think it had more to do with the foxes uncontrollably shagging outside my bedroom window again... such a horrific noise!

I'm bloody knackered now and have a pretty full on day too... 😩

OP posts:
savagehk · 09/05/2017 08:18

(also personally I'd refuse antibiotics and induction for the moment and ask for increased monitoring of temp/heartbeat, but that's just me. Of course in late pregnancy it might not be waters at all, just wee or odd discharge, but best to check!!)

1004Rise · 09/05/2017 08:21

@teainbed glad the hypnobirthing track helped, I agree she could read a shopping list and it would still be relaxing!

@MissMooMoo that's the sort of adventure you don't need, glad you have nice neighbours though!

@dreamofhungarianlanterns ducklings are so cute, good idea to spam people asking daft questions!

Went to see new middle yesterday, all good baby still head down, baby still measuring big but on a consistent line, she took great delight in saying s/he will be about 9lb 12 😱 if I go all the way to 40 weeks (38 +6 today) Focusing on the fact that gravity will help more if s/he is that big 🤔

Annoying thing is that since I technically booked in with them after 37 weeks that I jump to red so have to go see a consultant on Thursday to confirm I'm actually green and I can go to the MLU.

Had a very wriggly baby last night and a very tight bump, struggled to get comfortable wondering if it was BH squeezing baby then baby reacting 🤔 still have a bit of lower back pain but nothing else. Might start on pineapple after Thursday!

newbieho · 09/05/2017 08:26

Good luck @Teaspoon74 x

@BouncingBlueberry it looks like baby is on the way, how exciting! I second calling triage if you are unsure.

vanilla8 · 09/05/2017 08:26

Morning all,

Lots to catch up on, I still have today and then two more days at work, I'm with you @EsmesBees can't wait to say goodbye to that tube!

Yesterday I had some brownish discharge on panty liner & wiped when I went to loo once, and throughout the night my braxton hicks have been accompanied with period type cramps but maybe only every 10 mins or greater.
I have the midwife tomorrow so thinking of holding out till then to see what she says.

Rustler74 · 09/05/2017 08:31

@FoxMulder and @CoxsOrangePippin I'd go with Romcom! Bliss watching! Sit on gym ball and rotate to get baby in good position?

@EsmesBees sounds like a comedy situation where you're speeding through the park...

@MissMooMoo How annoying! Thank goodness for good neighbours!

@peasandquiet how did they measure bp? Mine always comes out high when measured with the machine but normal with manual method. Feet are more and more swollen though, so I'd expect bp to be higher at some point when doing manual as well.

Welcome back @Sonnet18 and fingers x you'll be spot on your due date x

@nursebickypegs so exciting for you! Can't wait to see your scrumptiously perfect baby! Don't worry about your mum, you can miss that attitude when you have your baby in your arms

@MrsJW15 great question! I'm a bit anxious about missing early labour signs even if the midwives tell me I won't miss it. My sister nearly had hers when climbing the stairs 20 minutes after she was told to go back home with only 2 cm dilation!

@Teaspoon74 Good luck keep us informed xxx what's with all the leaks?

A morning in the beauty salon for me! Making sure I have 2 breakfasts before that! 3 crumpets left... new tub of golden syrup... can't not really! Have you all stocked up?

I hope all the insomniacs ended up going back to sleep?

OH came home yesterday telling me about a baby box at Tesco which is free if you spend £20.00 on baby stuff. Anyone aware?

My friend who's getting married Friday called me yesterday asking if I was still coming to the church and I said it'd be a matter of how I feel because I wouldn't be able to hang around comfortably between that and the evening do as I can't take a walk with my silly ankle. She suggested I come to the wedding breakfast as well. I said yes so I have a full day of fun Friday (and get to see my OH in a suit mmmmmm Grin)

Have a nice day all and catch you later!

Rustler74 · 09/05/2017 08:34

@BouncingBlueberry it's worth calling triage as they want to know and will want to check if it is waters. X

peasandquiet · 09/05/2017 08:43

Bouncing I had something similar first time around, and did get my water checked as I was so concerned by the amount of fluid. (I had the baby 3-4 days later!) I would get checked for piece of mind. I do have to say tho once my waters went I knew it was them as every cough/laugh meant a little trickle more!!
Rustler BP had been a mix of both manual and machine and has been up and down on both! It's all a bit strange. I'm hoping nothing comes of it like first time around.
