JonahB · 16/03/2007 18:50

hi everyone,

I'm so of all of you on maternity leave. I'm working until may 4th. 28 working days (not that i'm counting or anything...).

TYG, how generous are your team? Gosh, they are fantastic pressies!

Just been told by the dr i need to start taking those iron supplement tablets . I did take them last time and I was expecting the same again, but they're not very nice. Ah well, it could be worse.....

anneme · 16/03/2007 19:26

TYG - yummy pressies....a friend of mine has that bag and I was jealous of it before - am now even more jealous now I see the PRICE (ok I know that is very base of me but hey...!)

Pebble - hope things are a bit better now. I agree with everyone. In fact, I had lunch with a friend today who was having a v similar conversation about her husband and I was saying v similar things to her. WE aren't living in the dark ages....

Sky - I am 20 mins south of Peterborough on the A605. Will post when I am next going to Kiddicare though in case you are too (don't want DH to lose impetus and enthusiasm)

Mars - you are a star

Nappies for LO arrived today (moltex disposables - am using them for first few weeks and then onto real ones again.) All becoming a bit real now. end of term on Wed week and then MAT LEAVE - hooray!!!

largeginandtonic · 16/03/2007 19:46

Helloooooo all!

Hope you are all well. Pebble really hope your DH improves and helps out. It is no fun doing it all on your own.

SKYTV hooray for finishing work and good news on the negative glucose test too. Im sure the baby is just swimming in a massive pool of amniotic fluid and having a ball, and is actually tiny

Lwatkins at your uni, roll on gettin outta there. Hopefully the next one will be more helpful. Your poor dad too

TYG amd soooo of you lovely pressies, real luxuries. I am desperate, very desperate for this changing bag i love it so much But am pretty sure im dreaming......

Went to the twins assembly this morning and the head teacher stood up and started talking about someone making something to sell for red nose day in the staff room. I went in to blind panic mode as i was sure she was going to name me for handing in cakes that morning, DH started sniggering. I was mortified, i handed the cakes over and ran before registration so couldnt work out how they new it was me! LUCKILY it wasnt ne, it some students....thought i was going to have the baby on the spot!!!

Hoping to have a peaceful day tomorrow, have done far too much jumping\rolling in and out of the car, pushing trolleys and carrying bags. Pelvis is like a walking bruise

Hugs to you all, see you tomorrow xxxxx

scootermum · 16/03/2007 20:28

Evening all,
Lots of love to those feeling a bit blue right now.I feel a bit fed up today and Ive no reason to really..Just tired and hormonal im sure..
Went to John Lewis and had a little spend to cheer self up which did the trick anyway, till I later checked my balance.Oops.
We are off to Manchester tomorrow to see my new nephew.Have just spoken to my brother who is planning on going back to work on Tuesday as SIL is 'having people over for lunch'.Now when I had dd I was petrified of dh going back to work after THREE WEEKS, and would have died if he'd gone after 6 days. And have people over for lunch?I was lucky if I had time to eat any lunch myself and any free time I did have was spent asleep.Im beginning to think I am woefully inadequate in the mothering department and maybe MIL is right to panic about my ability to cope with two babies!

Have bought dd her first shoes today now that she is walking.£18 for something that will probably need replacing in 6 weeks!Blimey.Still she looks very cute in them and was walking about JL's childrens department showing off to all the assistants like the little diva she is..

DH has just looked at me and said I look very pale.I really must as he never notices things like that.He is, (whispers in awe), doing the ironing whilst I have a sit down.To be fair he does do alot really, but he NEVER irons!I should do some homework tonight really as have had no time to do any at all this week, but feel a bit knackered so might just go to bed-have two episodes of ER sky plussed and its looking mighty tempting..

scootermum · 16/03/2007 20:32

TYG-Your presents rock BTW.I am angling for Topshop vouchers for mine-selfish I know but they do now do baby clothes up to 12 months I hear..My work best friend is arranging the collection anyway so am keeping everything crossed as have my eye on some quite nice summer flats..Which will benefit the baby too becuase I will be happier and therefor a better Mama when wearing them..Thats my story anyway..

Did you win on the gg's today?DH forgot to put my bets on in time, but I wouldnt have won anyway so not to worry..

InTheseShoes · 16/03/2007 20:35

Hello all - remember me??
I have been sporadically reading, but the thread goes so fast for me... hoping that I'll be able to keeep up once I am on maternity leave, which very happily starts in two and a half weeks with the Easter holidays.

I'm feeling okay, but very tired sometimes. It sounds like from what I've read, we're all in the same boat.

Glad it's all going well for everyone - I wonder when the first baby will be born?

LupinsBigLump · 16/03/2007 20:47

Skytv - glad your results came back ok

LGT I managed to get my mum Cath Kidson soap for mothers day - that was bloomin dear enough - good luck getting the bag

TYG nice pressies hun

Been out for lunch with my lovely friend who is emigrating - I love her to bits but cant stand her kids - they leave me drained, and it ,makes me sad for my friend she always seems so stressed out at not being listened to - not sure the kids like me - tend to tell then no alot !! Have done my last days housekeeping and handed over to friend until July/ August - ahhhhh, was getting pretty tiring altho money is fab

Got a great card for my mum today it says - "Blessed are the Cracked as they are the ones who let in the Light" made me lauf

Pebblemum · 16/03/2007 21:46

Evening all

Creena-you didnt offend me or anything Everything everyone has said about my useless dh has been spot on and nothing but supportive.

Today hasnt been too bad as far as he is concerned but then again he stayed in bed until 12, then we went shopping with MIL and by the time we got back it was time for me to pick ds2 up and for him to go to work so he didnt really have time to annoy me MIL bought the baby some sleepsuits today (she had extra points vouchers for Tesco's )and she also picked up a newborn t-shirt with a digger on it for £1. I think she is working on the theory that when i was pg with ds2 FIL bought some pink bodysuits and of course i had a boy so if she has bought something for a boy then i will have a girl, we will just have to wait and see if it works out that way

cinnamontam · 16/03/2007 23:03

Hey lovely ladies

Sorry to hear some of you are having a tough week particularly when for some it's beloved partners creating the havoc

I'm sitting on a friends couch in Boston watching the snow that has been coming down for 7 hours now. It's almost a foot! On Wednesday we were sitting on their deck in t-shirts. Crazy weather.

I bought Bean's entire 0-6 months wardrobe over the last couple of days for about $60 USD at various outlet stores.

I have 6 weeks of work left and I can't wait to get the hell out of there. I just hope I get everything done.

I got quite a shock in the shower yesterday. Tiny amount of milky stuff came out of both boobs. Suddenly realised that I REALLY am pregnant

Back on Sunday night so wishing you all a peaceful, gentle weekend

xx tam

twelveyeargap · 17/03/2007 10:10

Morning all. I have over the last three years been assistant to a collection of teams ranging from a total of about 45 people up to around 100 at one point. Plus I help out people to whom I'm not really an asssitant - they just know I'll know what to do. So looking at the numbers involved, you can see how the presents got to be good.

Moving on - I love that bag too LG&T. Very cute.

Awh @ your DD Scooter. First shoes. I reckon girls must get their love of shoes from very early on becuase we make such a fuss of the Newwwwww Shoooooeeee. And rightly so of course. And for your DH doing the ironing.

GOtta go. Back in a bit.

Creena · 17/03/2007 18:28

Howdy all!

It's been such a lovely day here today. Lots of warm sunshine. We went out and about and had lunch at a place with an outdoor decking area; felt really summery being outside in the sun having a bit to eat! Picked up some baby stuff too; lots of cute little clothes from Zara (they do these lovely little t shirts and things), baby toiletries and another couple of outfits in Boots - they had some lovely stuff reduced in price so feeling pretty virtuous as well as slightly more organised!

Pebble - so glad and relieved you aren't offended! I've sought the advice of people here on more than one occasion and you've always been really supportive and lovely - I wanted to try and do the same for you!

Cinnomantam - sounds like you're having an excellent break! Boston is one of those places I've always wanted to go to but haven't quite managed it yet. Good shopping too, eh? Sounds very much like my kind of place.

JonahB · 17/03/2007 19:02

LG&T, why do your cakes always always sound so fab? I made a triple chocolate cake last night, which I thoroughly enjoyed, however honey and coconut cake and a peanut butter and bananna cake!! Mmmmmmm. They sound lovely and much more exciting than just chocolate (although it is hard to surpass chocolate). Where do you get your recipes from, or are they all collected from different places over the years?

twelveyeargap · 17/03/2007 20:22

Evening. Gutted about the 6 nations. BOOO HOOO. The boggers were SO close. Might have a Guinness in a bit to drown my sorrows.

Just waiting for DD to call. She's been at a party all day.

Found a replacement car for the 3-door tin can I've been driving. Going to buy my friend's elderly Jag - just like the one Arthur Daly used to drive in Minder. Completely impractical, parks like a bus, but safe and it has 4 doors, a personality and I love it. And it's cheap! Going to pick it up from her the first week in April.

Really fancy a lazy day tomorrow.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 17/03/2007 20:46

Hellooooooooooooo....................

Glad nothing too drastic this week has happened. Skimmed through but will catch up properly tommorow.

Had a long 10hrs in the car today so tired and need my bed, coccyx is hell.

Had a lovely time, baby loves skiing already, slept the whole time I was moving and everytime I sopped it had a kick and a wriggle as if to say, more mum more, lol. Didn't do very much though just at very, very slow speeds with a group of begginers I was teaching.
DD managed to trip in the hotel bedroom on the Wednesday evening and as lg&t kindly informed you ended up with 3 stitches between her eyes just above the bridge of her nose. It was scary at the time and bled like hell, we wisked her up the medics and unfortunately it was too deep for steri strips so she had to be stitched. not somethng I wan't to do in a hurry again, pinning down a 19mth old to a bed as they sew them up was not a pleasent experience. She was right as rain within an hour though and charging around as usual.

ds loved ski school and is very pleased with his 1* badge and certificate he gained at the end of the week. Very proud mummy watching 4 yr old ski down big slopes in group.

Think the post mark may give away my secret shower parcel

Hope everyone is over there weeks ailments and fighting fit for next week.

aprilmeadow · 18/03/2007 09:43

Yay you are home!! Glad you had a good time. Will catch up with you later x

largeginandtonic · 18/03/2007 11:15

Morning all, hope you are all having very quiet, calm and lazy sundays with daddies running round making it a lovely mothers day.

I had museli and youghurt bought to me in bed with a lake of tea and some toast with lemon curd on cut in to heart shapes!

I will ignore the 2 children (ds2 and ds4) up at 4.48 and the poo nappy at 6.45.......You cant have it all.

Glad you are back safe and sound MrsJB, and the skiing was good fun. Poor M, give her hugs from me, im sure she has forgotten all about it now. Do you have to have the stitches taken out or will they dissolve?

TYG your new car sounds fab! I wanna go in it! Love impracticality in cars, id be driving an old VW bug if i could get away with it Kids in a trailer on the back

Happy Mothers Day to you all xxxx

Mrsjaffabiffa · 18/03/2007 12:24

lg&t, Stitches have to be removed on Tuesday. One week after, Oh just realised I'd put it was Wednesday on other post, you know what it's like when you are on hols, all the days run into one.

Your breakfast sounded lovely, lucky Mummy. Awwww at the heart shaped toast. We are not celebrating Mothers day today. The French Mothers day is some time in June and as we only got home last night and had no idea it was today we have decided to wait until the French one. Doesn't help the fact that dh's Mum and stepmum are in the UK and we have not sent cards, Opppppppps We will be in trouble, but he will phone them later. H will do something at school around Mothers day so I think he'll understand better then.

Have nearly unpacked, just the mounds of washing to tackle now. Grrrrrr

Looking forward to my scan tommorow am. Worried baby is not growing well though, I am huge everywhere except my bump. Honestly I could still get away with not being pregnant. ds hid in my back so I'm hoping this one is perfect size but hidding too.

cinnamontam · 18/03/2007 13:08

Happy Mothers day!

TYG - the car sounds great. I've always has a soft spot for Jags and can just see you sailing around in it. And those pressies from work are fabulous. I was going to make do with the various bags lying round the house for nappy bags but you have raised the bar and now I can't stop looking at the pretty ones.

LG&T at the Fluff. It is the oddest thing and yet you can't stop eating it. I swear I've seen it in Tesco or ASDA. Have you? If not I will check the ones near me again and get some to you. A woman (particularly a pregnant one) needs her Fluff. You really are amazing with your cakes. Do you get the kids involved or are you just superwoman whipping them together in between dealing with your crew?

Sky - great news about the test results. I did the same thing - test came back normal so i went out and scoffed my body weight in bad sugars.

MrsJB - the skiing sounds fantastic. Glad DD is ok with her stiches.

Hello to everyone else. Hope the bumps and families are giving you a good day. Off to do MORE shopping then hopping on the plane tonight for a delightful 5.20am arrival back in Heathrow tomorrow morning then off to work. I see it as penance for all the wonderful shopping

largeginandtonic · 18/03/2007 13:32

Cin i had seen the fluff here many moons ago, in asda i think. Not seen it for years now It is heaven in a jar.....

Hope your flight back is ok, loudly say you are pregnant and expose your bump lots, you should get a better seat.

MrsJB poor M having to have stitches out, take vast quantities of sweets on hand. Celebrate mothers day big time in June, you may get one more pressie as you will have had another baby by then....how weird is that!!! Im sure the LO is growing fine, probably just hiding in your back. Calm thoughts before the scan.....

Lunch time now.....might have pickled herrings in creamy sauce...yum! Weird or not?

LupinsBigLump · 18/03/2007 14:19

Happy Mothers Day to All, quite quiet today - so I hope you are all being spoilt rotten and either havent got out of bed or are out to lunch, I got woken up by dd trying to wake dad up (as it was mothers day) but making so much noise she woke me up and he stayed asleep - then they bought me tea & sugar puffs, then came back up with a handmade card of a picture of me (supposedly) was a face with a cicle in the head with squiggle - when I asked what it was I was told it was my brain - hmmmm think it is a complement and got a small box of quality street which dd chose as she really likes them - and I must scoff today as I start glucose monitoring tomorrow so will have to behave from then on to hopefully avoid injecting again - not that its soo bad, just annoying

MJB sure scan will be fine - as you say probably tucked away at the back being all snug, grrr at long drive

Feel quite pooped today, going to take it easy, didnt have a great nights sleep, hand was hurting couldnt get comfy, tossed and turned and dog wanted to go out, and dp says why are you tired you go to bed early enough hmmmmmmmmm grrrrrrrr

Chat later xx

Mrsjaffabiffa · 18/03/2007 19:15

It is quiet on here today.

Lupins I hope you manage to stay off the injections. Is there more chance of having to do it again as you did before? The diet for gestational diabeties over here is sheer hell. I had a nutritionist talk and diet sheet last time with M as they mis read my origional results and thought I had it. all was Ok on 2nd, 3rd and 4th sampling lukily for me but it took them that long to realise that all was OK on the first. Numpty mw read it wrong.

Wellllllllll............ we spent this afternoon after unpacking rearranging M's room and putting her toddler bed in there for her. I have left the cot in ready for baby and thought that if she didn't want to sleep in bed yet she could stay in cot and just get used to the bed being there. At bedtime I asked her where she wanted to sleep and she said, big bed! I can't believe it, she climbed in, gave me a kiss and waved. She has been there for about 45 mins now. I heard her get out once, she came to her door and cried for about a miniute and then I heard her potter back across he room and it has been quiet since. I'm not sure if she is in the bed or asleep on the floor. lol If she takes to it that quickly I will be a very pleased mummy, she is only 19mths and I was not sure if it was too early?

Thanks for the reassurance on my scan tommorow, I'm sure you are right but this pregnancy paranoir doesn't get any easier how ever far along you get. I will think calm before.

ShowOfHands · 18/03/2007 19:50

Good evening ladies and bumps!

It's official, there is no gingerbread left in Elveden. I snaffled it all...

It's lovely to be back and chatting to you all again, but there is a small part of me that wishes I was still on holiday! We had a lovely time, only the occasional hormonal episode to speak of. Of course going to fly some birds of prey was a bad idea when this pregnant. There was some ill-concealed sobbing over how beautiful an eagle owl was and DH tried to pretend he didn't know me, but hey ho... I also became a little bit grumpy at my dismal badminton efforts and accidentally took a swipe at DH when lunging for the shuttlecock. We went rowing on the Tuesday, DH insisted on doing all the work while I reclined (can a 32wk pg person recline? It really was more like wallowing) in the boat. Unfortunately we ended up partaking in what can only be described as mallard-bothering and ended up trying to row up an embankment so DH gave in and let me do the work. I was secretly very proud of myself. We live on a river and kayak a lot but I hadn't tried rowing before. No incidents to speak of, nobody drowned and the weather was beautiful. We also swam lots, walked, chatted and er...got... caught again by my mother.

DH is still not his happy, chirpy self. He is having a completely new set of tests done on Tuesday and we then have a two week wait to find out if they come back negative. He is wound up and nervous, still not sleeping or eating properly but we managed to have a nice holiday nonetheless and there were times when we managed to ignore it and get on with enjoying ourselves (and shocking my mother).

I came back yesterday to two lovely surprises. TYG, the gingerbread bunny is beautiful and incredibly thoughtful. I was so touched by it. You are a lovely lady. And Lupins, thank you more than I can express for the baby clothes. I feel like a weight has lifted knowing that I have something to dress Mathilda in. You can't know how grateful I am.

LG&T did a sterling job of keeping in contact with me- bet she's off with N misbehaving as I type!- and I will read through the thread and catch up properly while I'm at work tomorrow. 5 weeks till maternity leave...

I hope everybody is well, happy and rested. MrsJB I spied that you're back too. Hope the holiday was fab (poor little DD though).

Got my secret shower person too. No clue what to send but the Norfolk postmark and the gingerbread crumbs will no doubt give me away.

Going to eat hot cross buns and drink earl grey now. Chat to you all soon.

xxxx

Mrsjaffabiffa · 18/03/2007 21:14

I'm glad you had a good time SOH, it was well deserved and I hope you both feel a little refreshed. Glad dh is able to have more tests, it will be a worrying wait for the results even though you know that nothing nasty should show up this time.

I have NO idea either as to what to send my secret shower Mner, I'm ashamed to say that I'm actually quite crap at sending gifts, much prefer a list of wants from family at Christmas and Birthdays. I will endeavour to be very thoughtful with my choosing though. I HOPE!!!

dd was in her bed when I went in to check her but the squeek of her door woke her up so she is now running around the lounge, Grrrrrrrr, all off to bed now so wish me luck getting her back in it.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh scan day in the morning!!!! dh said he might not come, I don't mind at all, after all it's not that exciting at 32weeks, if I remember from last time you can't see a great deal they are too big (hopefully)
I have told him though that if he doesn't come I may be tempted to find out the sex for which I received a scowling look from him. lol better not, sounds like he is very against it and I'd NEVER keep it a secret if I knew.

Night, xxx
